Mercury is my favorite with Sulphur coming in second.
I am wearing The Dark Heart of Old Havana today. I think it's outstanding. An exotic addicting smell.
The Lion Cupboard is quite nice also.
Sampled Sacred Wood. Another typical Asian Tales release. Totally lacking in every category.
I sampled Shukran. Smells very medicinal, like the when your in a doctors examining room. Yuck for me.
I sample everything I can get my hands on. Notes never tell me what it's really going to smell like.
I sampled and thought it was very nice, although I did like Mother Earth Aromatic much more and bought a bottle.
Last summer and this summer I will be wearing Pear & Olive by Slumberhouse. It's unique, and I get many compliments. Longevity and sillage are excellent.
I just grew tried of all the typical...
Nubacco Fin Oil
Montale - Aromatic Lime
Amouage - Homage
Le Labo - Ylang 49
Tom Ford - Noir de Noir
Pear & Olive
Aqua Vitae by MFK
I read a lot, but I never saw anything about ever crafting all Amouages with the perfume connoisseur in mind. Reflection Man is definitely Amouages attempt at a designer scent using better quality...
Now that you've found Basenotes. Take some more time and do some sampling. There's so much more out there than picking a signature scent from the land of mediocrity.
According to Amouage, " Opus VIII is crafted with the "perfume connoisseur" in mind, irrespective of age or gender, the woody, floral fragrance comprises of the finest ingredients sourced from around...
Thanks for the heads up. Vero Profumo is house that takes the art of perfumery serious. Quality compositions and quality ingredients.
Thank you Vero Kern for helping to preserve and add to the...
If I had to wear the same perfume for the next five years, I would chose nothing. I would be to bored to even care.
That is so true. High quality ingredients were abundant and not expensive. Mysore Sandlewood was a common ingredient, as well as many other almost extinct ingredients that were used in what we now...
That's interesting, I feel just the opposite. I never waste my money buying anything under $100.00 per bottle. It's simply impossible to use quality materials in scents under $100.00, and getting...
Please report back what you think. Good job on selecting samples by the way.
Invasion Barbare - Outstanding
Straight to heaven - Very Good
Taste of Heaven - OK
Absolue pour le...
I tried to like it, but it the end, it didn't move me enough to want a bottle, or even a split.
Actually that's my feelings about the entire line. Love the bottle and presentation.
Sounds like every week in my home. Many many mediocre frags out there. Welcome to sampling.
I like the name Sacred Wood, but I'm guessing it will be wimpy like the rest of The Asian Tales line.
Very nice comeback. I like it!
Thanks for the correction, I thought....
The "M" was for Masterpiece
My wife and I share a bottle. She wears it almost daily in spring and summer. There's nothing new or ground breaking. It's that perfect all purpose, safe, clean, refreshing and zesty done right...
It's so Iso E Super laden, I can't even smell it. Smells like nothing to me.
I think Montecristo is a good frag for the right person. I enjoy some skank in my perfumes, but the type of skank just didn't work for me. From the many praises I'm seeing, it's working well for a...
Pear & Olive by Slumberhouse
Al Attar - Durra - Way over priced and only mediocre scent - save your money
Maison Francis Kurkdjian - Oud Velvet Mood - This Oud line is over priced for what you get
SoOud - Hajj Perfum Nektar...
I sampled last week Thought it was decent, but not enough to even finish off my sample. Too many other outstanding Rose frags out there. Isparta will just get lost in the shuffle.
Heck, I'm 63 and Terre d'Hermes is too old for me.
"Your" nose knows best.
I have bottles of and enjoy all you listed above also. There's a new one that I love even more than these. It's Hard Leather by LM Parfums.
For me it can't be a 5 star frag if it has poor longevity. A true 5 star frag doesn't have shortcomings.
I always like to here from alfarom.
[QUOTE=Duke Hunt;3073754]Seriously considering this one, now that everybody has had some more time to spend with it, what are your current thoughts?[/QUO
My current thoughts are this is best...
Fusion Sacree - Obsur (Lui) by Majda Bekkali
I sampled Durra yesterday. Not too much to say. I was expecting more from this attar. Not very strong, and was surprised at the crappy longevity. As far as the smell goes - just an average okay...
The first three were yuck. From the notes list, these three sound worse to me.
Have a sample of Durra on the way. I'll report back.
No, but I tried this, and had to have a bottle.
I sampled this one the other day that has quite a bit of raspberry and some cinnamon. I thought it was very good.
Dark Saphir by Agonist
I always enjoyed your input, and if I do say so myself - you have a great nose.
For me, only 10% of the stuff out there is worthy of a good review and 5% is Full Bottle Worthy.
Plus 1 for Hard Leather
They have a knowlegable sales staff. Walk in, tell them what you like and don't like. They'll guide you in the right direction. You'll have fun and go home with a winner or two.
Thomas Fontaine, the house nose job was to showcase the rebirth of the house. The smart thing to do was to do something different than the original which is exactly what he did, but failed miserably....
I managed to get a By Kilian spray sample of this. There's nothing wrong with it, but there's nothing worth noting either. I'm not even interested in finishing my sample off. Longevity isn't good -...
Which oil, and what Indian oil shop should I look for if I want the one that smells like Puredistance M? I'm always looking to save some money.
Update: I just found some Vintage Indian Oil online,...
I tried and tried to get a sample with no luck. I bit the bullet and made a blind buy. It's 40% concentration. A much more refined and smoother opening. Spices more up front with the burnt aspects a...
Absolue pour le soir
Black Tourmaline (Extrait)
Magnolia Grandiflora - Michel
Yes, but very expensive. Just add something to cart and follow it through until you see shipping costs. As long as you don't enter any credit card info you won't be charged.
My thoughts exactly.
Thank you for so eloquently putting into words my exact sentiments.
Not interested in owning an entire line. I'm not a collector. I'm a wearer. Not rich, but I do manage to buy what I want.
It would be rude to just have a bunch of frags that just sit there...
It comes in a 5ml mini for $21.50
I'm wearing it right now. I'm in heaven.
OMG - Hard Leather is the real deal. To my nose simply the best release since Puredistance M. You all know how hard that was for me to spit out.
The review below isn't hyperbole - quite accurate...
A master perfume from a master nose. This new one from the house of Grandiflora is even more than what you expect out of Michel Roudnitska. Ladies get over to the Luckyscent website and order a...
Mine too! Aleksandr is classy, which most pine frags are lacking. Many of the pine frags listed above are just too piney, overpowering, and for the most part one note sambas.
I don't. When a frag has poor longevity, there's no room in my wardrobe for it.
Hey Wheatstraw2. Since you mention Soylent Green (a movie released in 1973 for those who didn't know what he was saying) you must be in your in your 50's or 60's. I'm going on 63 this year, so I can...
Patou pour Homme should be on the list
Just a note on batch variations. Every single house out there has batch variations. They just don't talk about it.
Just two - Creed MI and Interlude Man
Sancti is awesome. Citrine isn't in the same league. As a side bar alfarom - I'm in love with Fortis right now. Been wearing for 3 days straight now.
JCE minimalist style just doesn't work for my nose, but I give Vetiver Tonka a big thumbs up. It's got personality.
If you have a sleeping disorder., this may help - it made me yawn.
I thought it was just fine. Not special enough to want a bottle for myself, but a very good frag for the money.
Parfum d'Empire Limited Edition:
Eau de Gloire - Edition Millesimee
Cologne pour l’hiver - Eau de Cologne
I sampled Eau de Gloire - Edition...
I spend a lot on sampling. I want to know what's out there and hopefully discover a couple gems per year. A typical year I'll sample 200 frags, and truthfully I'm lucky if 10 intrigue me enough to...
I'm quite familiar with Puredistance. I've gone thru 2-17.5ml bottles and still working on a 100 ml bottle and have a the very first 60ml bottle off the line for back up. I think two sprays a day...
I prefer Borneo, but enjoy all three. My Holy Grail chocolate is Body Made Luminous from Scent by Alexis. Also, the new release Sorriso by Profumum is very good and belongs in this group.
I had the same experience with my sampling.
Exactly! I think if Yosh would add some steroids this could be a winner. Come on Ms.Han, give us something that spells "MAN", not man.
I sampled several times. Lackluster to say the least. It's one the notes make you love it, but the smell doesn't quite get there.
Thanks for dropping by Anya. I'll vote for Primal Smoke. As a side note, I love "Pan" also. Keep up the good work.
Jade East in 1964 when it first came out. I was 13.
I personally prefer Richwood by Xerjoff, but I still treasure and enjoy Santal de Mysore by Montale as second best.
156 views and not one comment. It's sad a gem like this isn't getting any love.
Here we have a simple natural scent consisting of fossilized amber, chocolate and a bouquet of blossoms. Ladies, you really should sample this fabulous scent.
This scent has incredible all...
Cuir de Lancôme - Luxury that's always discounted online for less than $70.00
Deliria smells very feminine to my nose. I do love it, and would like smelling it on a woman.
Outstanding frag. One of Andy's best. I put this up there with Miriam and Carillon pour un Ange.
That was my first thought - come to think of it, it was my only thought.
I sampled last week. I love it.
V for me.
Major disappointment. Just an average okay scent, nothing more.
Just sampled Phi yesterday and today. Totally unisex, and hands down Andy's best creation to date.
Just outstanding. My wife loves it also.
Makes me happy when I discover such a gem.
Just sampled today. I agree with you.
Simply the nicest real oud blend I've tried. Oud haters will change their minds after experiencing this masterful blend. Just like hawk said, "no barnyard or...
Holy Grail Saffron IMHO.
If you don't already own Invasion Barbare, I consider it a must own. When one gets their wardrobe up in the two hundred bottle category, unique would be important also.
