Try Malle's Bois d'Orage (French Lover)...very dry with a 'damp stone' note.
One of my favs. Unique and interesting, doubt I'll ever run into someone else wearing it. Need a backup bottle!
I also recommend French Lover/Bois D'Orage (same frag) by Malle. Dry and earthy.
Thanks all! So I guess for me a .7 ml sample without a spray top would be about 2-3 wearings. Good to know!
Does anyone have a feel for the average amount of fragrance dispensed with each pump? I know it will vary based on brand, but is there a typical range?
Very often. Works well for me 3 seasons of the year. It is a go-to for me when I'm on the fence in the morning, and I have a backup bottle waiting for when my current one goes dry.
Hinoki followed by Vettiveru.
I'm leaning toward Tauer's Cologne du Maghreb, but I could be detoured to one of my other 'wants' if the right opportunity presents itself....
Mauvais Garcon is one of the samples I got and will try soon. What are your impressions of it?
I just received this from IndieScents, along with three samples. The shipment was well packed, and I would not hesitate to order from them again.
Brecourt frags aren't in the database yet, so...
Another vote for London. It's a staple for me.
French Lover (Bois d'Orage) hands down...
Tom Ford Extreme
Arabie. Wearing it now...
Try Bois d'Orage by Malle. This scratches that itch well for me.
+1 Burberry London
Even better! Except that Wilson probably wears something inept...like Eternity?
Yes! I agree. Great thread!
Congrats! That's going to be one fragrant wedding...
SL Arabie - A1 sauce in a bottle.
Polo. Drakkar Noir.
Great glimpse at an unfamiliar subculture - thanks!
A great linear and a great evolving frag are both great - just in different ways.
There is a one page article in the March GQ (page 111, Grooming), looking at niche and where to buy it. Mentions include Aedes, LafcoNY, nolita, Malle, Scent Bar, Luckyscent, and Byredo.
I think the bottle for Bulgari Black is quite fitting.
I can post (obviously), and am logged in (my name is at the top of the page) - but when I click 'My Wardrobe' it takes me to a pag telling me to register or Login.
But I am logged in.
Eternity is the only one I've ever had go bad.
I currently carry a Robe di Firenze brown multi-fold wallet:
Don't know why, but Cuba has an awful, pool-chlorine like smell on me.
Havana, however, ROCKS!
A great list of candidates! Thanks to everyone who contributed.
Spicy, Dry Frags
Cacharel pour homme
Jacomo de Jacomo
L'eau D'Issey PH Intense
I'm looking to try something strong (for fall/winter), spicy but dry, with an Indian or Arabic influence but little sweetness.
I've considered (but have not sampled) Jacko, Arabie, and Ambre...
I sure hope not! I've been delaying a purchase of this - I just bought Havana and the wife surely would like me to take a break. I almost caved in at an airport duty-free yesterday.
Interesting! I enjoy his work.
I save quotes that resonate with me, and read through them from time to time.
Thought I'd share a favorite quote from Jose Saramago on the phenomenon of collecting:

I don't think it was slated for full release until October?
My fav dub-containing album is Sandinista by the Clash!
Try Paco Rabbane PH - a classic standby masculine, with good longevity and a friendly price tag.
Paco Rabanne PH
Welcome! Guerlain is my most worn, most flexible vetiver, can wear it anytime.
I also enjoy Comme de Garcon's Vettiveru - it is a bit stronger to me in sillage (how much it projects), but does not...

Check out the package deals at TPC - they have some programmed decant sets (beginner, advanced), by type, or by house. They also have great service!
An old skool fan! I have worn the heck out of Paco, and recently have discovered vintage Bel Ami, which I now must track down...

It was cool here today - Burberry London.
Tried my sample of Aramis Havana to see what all the fuss is about.
Now i have to decide if it is worth it to track this down, or try an inexpensive alternative - Montana.
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, without a doubt!
One word ... Yatagan!
Make fun of a bottle? I PITY THE FOOL..........
I just tried Cuba for the first time, and got exactly the chlorine effect you describe. I thought something may have happened to the sample. Tobacco Vanille and London are fine on me.
Tauer L'Air du Desert Marocain - try it!
I've been wanting a bottle of Encre Noir, but my situation is such that PayPal and mail order is my preferred method of purchase.
I can't seem to find an online source that fits my needs. The...

Okay, I'm new here, and I had a big itch to try several new frags. My work schedule doesn't allow a lot of shopping time to sample, so I followed the recommendation of several folks here and looked...
Which of these take PayPal? I know TPC does, but does anyone else?

Outstanding! Thanks! (To both of you)
Ooops - looks like Tuesday is the 20th.
Have you all heard about the class action lawsuit that requires retailers to give away free cosmetics/frags on Tuesday?

Thanks all for the suggestions! I've placed an order for a couple of samples from TPC.
Any other suggestions?
London is a great scent - lots of notes I like. Sillage and longevity are not great on me, though.
Is there anything similar but deeper and stronger?
I have also been wanting to try Encre...
I really enjoy Burberry London...
Thanks all for the kind responses!
I found that Encre Noir sounds interesting to me for starters. Now I have to find an online source...any suggestions? It's not too convenient for me to make it...
I'm new here, and this is my first post. I've been lurking for the past week or so, and learning a lot!
I have four frags on my sink, and enjoy them all. Until recently, I didn't know I had:
