Re: Dior "Homme" - Marketing over Manliness

Sorry for the dbl post. DH is a head scratcher for me in that it seems to be favored by many but I just can't see myself enjoying it by any stretch of the imagination. As they say...to each his...

Re: Dior "Homme" - Marketing over Manliness

Not sure about the feminine part, but I DH is certainly a head scratcher for me.
  3. Re: Musky like Kouros - other suggestions in the designer arena?

Many good ideas here, some of which I've had on my to-try list for a while such as Caron Troisieme Homme, Yatagan and YSL Pour Homme HC. Also had Pierre Cardin Pour Monsieur in my hand at a discount...
  4. Musky like Kouros - other suggestions in the designer arena?

I enjoy Kouros immensely. To my nose, it's predominant note is musk especially in the base. Would like to check out fragrances with similar musky qualities. Enjoyed Jovan musk as a kid but that's no...

Re: I Think I Made a Newbie Mistake w/ Aventus

Aventus aside, I'm always surprised to hear that people spray the neck. That's about as close to the nose as you can get. To avoid olfactory fatigue, I personally don't spray higher than mid-chest...

Re: More Sprays During The Summer??

Ok, what am I missing here? This makes no sense to me at all. When my skin heats up, the fragrance tends to intensify. Unless you're literally sweating it off, I don't get it.
  7. Re: Fragrances that may smell different when sniffed from certain distances.

For me, Kouros is a great example. Smelling it right off the skin isn't a great experience, but catching whiffs of it is another story completely. If I had a favorite, that would probably be it.

Re: What's your most pleasant unexpected discovery?

Probably Azzaro Pour Homme. Had smelled it in the past but never owned/wore it. Picked it up at a discount store (Marshall's I believe) and really started enjoying it once I got past the...

Re: More Sprays During The Summer??

If anything, it's the opposite for me. If everything else is equal, warmer temps call for less. If moving to lighter, citrus-based fragrances...that might be a different story.

Re: Advice for perfumes on a tight budget.

Ok, now I understand. Chanel keeps its distribution channels very tight, so you won't find their fragrances on discount sites. I'd also recommend avoiding eBay for popular Chanels. Better off buying...

Re: Advice for perfumes on a tight budget.

You can't find Bleu de Chanel? I was going to suggest BdC or Allure Homme Sport. These should be some of the most accessible fragrances, so I'm surprised you can't find BdC. Another option for...
  12. Re: Difficulty choosing what to wear (Semi-beginner).

Almost hate to say this as I'm not a L'Homme fan, but based on your thought above that may be your best bet. Kouros is my personal fav, and a conservative application could work well but it's a risky...

+ 1 Bleu de Chanel and Allure Homme Sport. My personal preference is for a light trigger on both, esp in summer temps.

Re: How much Bleu de Chanel

Agreed. I'm down to 2 sprays max with BdC. I've got the travel set, and spray volume is pretty beefy (with full spray) which may contribute. In general, I find it to be a very powerful scent....

  20. Re: Safety razor or Double edged wet shaving - question

+1 on TOBS Avocado. I've tried different creams/soaps and that one works best for me by far. A little goes a long way too. I wish it was fragrance-free as I'm not thrilled with the smell, but the...

In my view, hot temps call for smaller applications as just about anything can get bothersome in the heat. Otherwise, BdC is a good option for summer. Actually, versatility may be the key to it.
