Penhaligon English Fern
They said January, didn't say which year.
What else would this compare to?
Thanks for the perspective, Master.
Sometimes I've thought about hosting a split, and how I'd deal with this problem. Now I'm thinking of doing something like Lutens - capped bottle, atomizer...
Not necessarily. Some just like lots of variety. Some like to have a bit more than the typically small sample to better judge a fragrance before purchasing an entire bottle. (I wish I had more than a...
At least it's different...?
Thanks for the recommendations, all! Good to know there are quality folks on BN!
Who is asking for "entitlements"? If one pays for something, one should get it. That applies to NIB fragrances found at a discount - if it was stored improperly and has gone "bad" you still have the...
I shouldn't have to, that's the point. I already have enough bottles of things where honestly a 10ml or 20ml decant would have sufficed.
Not enough tape, shipped in an envelope instead of a box, whatever. In any case, if I can smell the box before I open it - that's never good news.
Just tired of it. Makes buying them very...
DR Harris Arlington
No way I'd wear Aventus if proper eastern NC BBQ (pulled pork) was being made. The BBQ isn't sweet, why should the fragrance be?
I'd wear a good pine in that case. Maybe Itasca or Pino Silvestre,...
Guerlain Heritage EdP
Jacques Battini Rockin California - Chungking Express
Paco Rabanne 1 Million (6 sprays) - Goodfellas
Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan
I prefer Individuel.
Slumberhouse Pear and Olive to round out the sampling.
Slumberhouse Norne to some extent - it has a lot of forest and the incense for the fire part.
Yes, I was disappointed.
Has anyone tried Penhaligon Juniper Sling?
It's a nice '70s style powerhouse scent. I tried it once, nothing particularly special about it.
Vikt is so awesome
SOTD: Slumberhouse Vikt
SOTE: Penhaligon's LP No. 9 for a performance of Handel's Semele
4 Voleurs if you can find it
Vaguely reminds me of Kyoto, but otherwise it's very unique. I love it.
Sadanne had pretty good longevity, I was moving some boxes at home 14 hours after application and the cherries came right back!
My Vikt decant came in today, no idea whether I want to try it blind...
Tried Sova yesterday - perhaps I didn't spray enough, but what I did smell was very pleasant.
Today it's Sadanne - it's interesting, topnotes are very fruity (cherry?)
Did you lose a bet?
Creed - Windsor
No shoes, no scent, no service.
Yes, it is. Maybe next on the list after Jeke. So far I'm really impressed with the line.
Norne may be better though less potent - the incense almost borders on tobacco at first.
Thanks, I'm trying Ore - very nice!
And thanks for this advice, one spray on the wrist and it's already quite potent.
I haven't finished anything here either. A few decants but those hardly count.
Any recommendation on which one to try first? How many sprays for this? (I did three sprays of TF Tobacco Vanille the first time I tried it and do not want to make that mistake again!)
9 years later, a BNer is still searching for that elusive pine fragrance...
A sample set from Slumberhouse.
I'll be in meetings most of the day, so I need a nice work-friendly scent like
I only have a few ml decant, may just want to use it up.
Amouage Jubilation XXV
Has Forest been reformulated? I preferred it even to Ten.
Is there anything even left that is similar?
Also, Villoresi should make an amber.
Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan. Four sprays.
Wearing Lutens AS today - it is very similar to AA. I've read some reviews that say that AA is amber + incense and AS is amber + spices, but (an hour in) I'm getting a strong incense vibe from AS. So...
From the Fragrancenet sale:
- SL Ambre Sultan
- SL Chergui
It doesn't. Doesn't have anything to do with oud, either. So I'm not sure why you brought it up.
And for the record, the splits I have participated in (not just in BN but in other forums) include...
"Fully automatic weapons" have been strictly regulated since the 1930s; since 1986, no new ones are allowed on the market at all, buying one requires about a year wait due to a background check from...
For Brazil (his masterpiece), maybe L'Anarchiste if we're being ironic?
Munchausen would almost have to be an Amouage (if you think he was a Baron) or a knockoff from Al Rehab (if...
I just got 25% off too. Lutens should be next week :2vrolijk_08:
I'm wondering what he could be anosmic too though - it starts off with a strong cinnamon note (at least to my nose), ends up spicy and complex. The "shaving cream accord" is probably anise. My guess...
Only if I suspected they harbored a bottle of Egoiste Concentree and could swing a decant out of it.
Knize Forest. Lovely stuff, need to wear it more often.
There are also some aftershaves that seem to be close to EdC strength - I'm thinking of the Pinaud line in particular.
Montale Dark Aoud
Lalique Equus, using up a small decant. Nice but not bottle-worthy.
Serge Lutens - Five O'Clock Au Gingembre
Eau des Baux
Guerlain Habit Rouge EdP, leather formulation.
Trying different application points. Today: upper chest area with undershirt on, side of neck, back of neck.
Creed Erolfa. Sample is now used up :-(
A friend of mine always says I smell like sandalwood when I wear Heritage (EdT!), so that may be a good one for you. It's also very versatile. I need to find the EdP someday.
Maybe Fille en Aiguilles?
I'm only an hour in, but wow, this is pretty amazing juice. Why was it discontinued?
Tom Ford Amber Absolute
Chanel Allure Homme: Edition Blanche
I'm generally not a fan of rose, but Creed Windsor has a very prominent (and very good) rose note. Also Egoiste, while the rose isn't dominant per se, to my nose it stands up with the rosewood and...
I rather enjoy Itasca and am still working through a decant, and right now it seems bottle-worthy. I know some firms are a little more aggressive on reformulating than others; is this something I...
Uomo is great juice. It's something I could wear everyday, and I can't say that about many frags.
Funny - I first tried the EdT in the 50ml size, but it came in a clear bottle. When I received the EdP in 100ml, it was in the frosted bottle. Perhaps that is one reason why I think it is better...
I enjoyed Cipresso. Not sure if there is anything else like it sadly.
Jaipur PH is excellent juice, I'd say the EdP is worth the extra money. With the cinnamon and cardamom notes, you'd think it'd be a gourmand but far from it.
One of my favorite orientals next to...
