Glad you found it!!
Le Temps d'une Fête - Parfums de Nicolai
my boyfriend likes Wit by DelRae
oops - answer already posted
Voleur de Roses - by L'Artisan....I only had a sample but I'd wear it again, for sure. I would buy Timbuktu first, though. : )
The Hunger.....Catherine Deneuve is flawless
L'Essence de Must de Cartier - I guess for winter, or any time
Artek Standard - spring or any time
Chene - fall or any time
I sweat off light scents in the summer, unless I'm inside with...
I agree with Orange Sanguine....I have a bottle and it's a must-try......but my boyfriend says it smells urinous. : / So I don't wear it around him.
Anaïs Anaïs....smells beautiful but too feminine for me to wear
I wore Dzongkha, it's what I was wearing when I met my boyfriend and he loves it on me. He told me when we met that I smelled great. : )
I've only sampled from decants
I like the edt in the spring, and edp is good for fall/winter.....that's my opinion, I know a lot of people don't care about seasons and whatnot
Am I the only one who thought, try Jicky? If you can get a sample or decant.
I like it but went with Dzongkha instead, but really I'd like to have both.
If you try vintage Polo, you might not want to wear the current formula any more.
The comments make me curious to try the 'current' version. My bottle is a few years old, the older style bottle. It is very strong and lasts allllll day. Once you put it on, you are committed. ...
I got Wood Sage & Sea Salt. It's good, very light
One of my favorite fragrances, I bought mine around 2011. It lasts all day long on me. Also....I could be wrong, but I don't really think of vetiver as a top note.....Bleu does have a big vetiver...
My boyfriend has pretty significant allergy issues with certain scents but I haven't figured out the pattern yet. Opium pour Homme makes him wheeze and his throat closes up. Thankfully I don't love...
I have a sample vial of Le Male, that I will probably never wear again, but I haven't bothered to get rid of it.
I don't know the answer but Five O'clock is really strong in my opinion, and lasts for a long time. I definitely go lighter when I wear that one.
I always wear something light when in a situation like that, since people will be stuck sitting close to me, I don't want to make someone uncomfortable or resentful.
NIghtscape is great.
Dzongkha has - in my opinion - a nice middle section of leather and cinnamon, about an hour after applying. At least, that's what it reminds me of.
It's not unusual. People have different perceptions and different associations with fragrances. There are a few reviews in Perfumes: The Guide that I don't understand. In their review for Dior...
Yes - I love cinnamon!
L'Essence de Must de Cartier is really nice, it's more of a gingery grapefruit but I'm sure the cinnamon is contributing in there somewhere.
Frank No. 2, but I was buying bpal a lot before that. Actually I got a decant of Frank No. 2 as an extra in a bpal swap, and liked it enough to get a bottle.
I have a mini bottle - I like it.
I prefer Lyric Woman between the two
I love patchouli, love the complexity, I have worn it by itself (essential oil) many times since I was in high school. I think it has a calming and meditative effect, I wear it around the house just...
Well....I sweat a lot, and especially in humid weather, I guess I tend to go for woodier scents or ones that stick around longer....otherwise I just sweat them right off.
I was going to list...
CdG 2 Man
Here I am w/my favorite beverage.....Iced coffee! : )
Les Zazous maybe
Try to get a sample of Dzongkha.....there's a leather and spice thing going on, but it's like the dry end of the spectrum (not sweet at all)
The Governor from The Walking Dead
(I like it too.....glad I have a bottle)
Reminds me of sweet bonfire smoke - love it in cool weather
As one who was mouthing off about the reformulation - I have high hopes for this
Reform. was truly disappointing, I bitterly regretted buying 30ml of the old formula rather than the bigger bottle...
Something that you like a lot, that makes you feel comfortable in your own skin - which will be different for each person.
For me it would be Chene or maybe Fille en Aiguilles. Both are...
I wear Snake Oil (Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab) in the summer, here's why........
I sweat like crazy. If I wear something like Eau Duelle in hot weather, I just sweat it all off pretty quickly.
I've been thinking about these a lot:
Esprit du Tigre
Ca Sent Beau
......and Yohji Homme
Eau de Campagne - Sisley
I've tried so many incense scents, after a while they start to become.......kind of similar and boring? I guess for straight-up incense I like Heeley Cardinal the best.
But I would say Juozas...
I get the similarities.......
Actually I think grandpa or grandma Jicky passed down some genes to both of them
FWIW, Orange Sanguine actually lasts a long time on me. I was surprised, because so many reviewers said that it doesn't last very long.
I'm in Cincinnati too, lol
Somewhere I read (L. Turin and T. Sanchez, I think...) that Chanel has done a really good job of preserving the quality of their fragrances, despite restrictions. They compared old and new No. 5...
No....I hoard them
Iris Silver Mist
Fille en Aiguielle or Chene.....Serge Noir if you want something challenging but rewarding
probably my favorite house, but I don't like Arabie that much
But even the ones I don't like are fun...
Frank Los Angeles No. 2
My bottle is 5 or 6 yrs old, I don't know if they've changed the formula or not....they did change the bottle itself
Fou d`Absinthe by L`Artisan Parfumeur.........pretty close to what you're looking for I would think
also maybe try Philosykos by Diptyque, fresh, green, leafy....great for hot/humid weather. I've...
Yes! That is a great description.....I get the same feeling, I think
Yes.......Bel Ami Vetiver. Wow!
I ordered some 1.5 ml decants:
Bel Ami vintage
Bel Ami Vetiver
.....just to do some compare & contrast
It is fun to scroll through this thread....
I just ordered Dzongkha. : )
Jo Malone Amber & Lavender
I've worn Memoir Woman, from a sample, and I'm a guy. I wore it to an outdoor concert. Did I wear it or did it wear me? It is really strong.....almost too strong for me to pull it off.....but I...
Dior Homme, even though I don't wear it that much
and........go ahead and laugh, but.......CK One Summer! What can I say, it's a guilty pleasure and I wear it a lot.
Most exciting news I've seen all year!
Just curious....does anyone know where this is available? Can it be bought online?
I get a lot of sweet vetiver in the heart - about an hour or two after applying - and that is my favorite part.
Where can you still get it? I wanted a backup bottle but thought you couldn't get the export bottle any more....
A great scent, my favorite house. Easy to over-apply like someone else mentioned.
I read somewhere that Kirsten Dunst wears it. : )
I agree with olfactory fatigue.....try not wearing any fragrance for a day or two.....
But I also think if you sample something on your hand, you will smell it more easily because your hands move...
When sampling from a 1 ml vial.....sometimes I just dump the whole thing on. I pour it down my chest and use my fingers to spread it around and put some on the back of my neck. Sampling from a vial...
Nightscape - Ulrich Lang
Guerlain Jicky edp.......Wow!
I have a large (5 ML) decant - a roll-on - that is supposedly vintage, and it's interesting, but I haven't grown to love it yet.
I remember liking Original Santal when I tested it
Mine would be CK One Summer.....some people like it.....but a lot of people think it's generic or cheap-smelling. Actually I tried the newest...
I bought Sarrasins to wear specifically on summer nights.......
CK One Summer as usual.......
Also just got Eau de Guerlain and Orange Sanguine for the warmer weather.
I wear less fragrance...
I smelled this on a strip today, and thought it was really pretty....as a guy, I would have to find the right time and place to wear it, but I just love the way it smells. I could just wear it for...
Orange Sanguine........I got a sample with my last order and it really wowed me. : ) So I went for it.
Tonight it was Korrigan, from a sample.
Beckham Instinct comes to mind.
Comme des Garcons 2
Comme des Garcons Black.....I recommend sampling first
Sunday I blind-bought Blue Jeans just for the heck of it, I really like it.
And today I ordered L'eau au Masculin by Lolita Lempicka.....another blind-buy......I've been having great luck just by...
La Myrrhe......bought last week but just got the package today.......yes, I just bought Sarrasins a couple weeks ago.....I justified it to myself.....I now have my 2 favorite fragrances from my...
Oops....I didn't realize there were male and female versions of this topic.
Tuesday I ordered Sarrasins. I've been kind of obsessing about it and so I finally gave in, I think it will be really...
Eep.....I ordered Sarrasins yesterday......after obsessing for quite a while, and couldn't decide between it and La Myrrhe.......finally made the decision. I think it will be great for night time in...
Yeah....I was wondering if anyone had ordered any of the exclusives from Barney's, and what the experience was like, but I guess that's another topic. I am not planning any trips to New York but I...
*sigh* I still want a bottle of Sarrasins. I got a 5ml roller bottle (decant) and I love it more and more.
Yes, that's what I meant.
I wouldn't call it masculine, it doesn't even smell much like orange.....more like white flowers, mostly jasmine and tuberose to me. I tried Mandarine Mandarin today too. It's very syrupy sweet to...
I would say maybe Halston Z-14 except it's not 'airy'
Or maybe Eau de Cartier, the orange essence one whatever it's called....except do they still even make that?
I don't know but I love orange...
Eau de Guerlain, finally
This thread is dangerous, makes me want to buy more....
La Myrrhe or Bois des Iles
I have the shoes you're talking about, but I bought them about 20 years ago! I don't wear them often. Obviously they have lasted a long time. They were somewhere around $200 when I bought them, I...
I love Ladytron, not just their music, but their style.......any guesses as to what fragrances they would wear? The girls or the guys......I can't decide if they would wear something modern or...
They do address formulations and reformulations in the Guide, here and there.....both in the reviews themselves, and in the Answers to Frequently Asked Questions section.......see "I bought (name of...
I had a decant of an older formula and fell in love (I don't know how old, it came from Perfumed Court a few years ago)......bought a bottle that was a newer formula and was pretty...
When I think 'casual' I think of Dune pour Homme by Dior. To me it is the perfect 'white shirt and jeans' cologne, very clean and fresh to me.
I know some people don't like the fig note, though....
It kind of depends on what you like
Fille en Aiguilles was love at first sniff, for me
I own Five O'clock but it find it very strong....I don't wear it as often
My favorite is Chene, but I...
I like lots of floral notes, but not violet or lily for the most part.
I love this. In one word, exciting.
I get incense galore but then it opens up and turns into this clean airy leathery thing.
In my experience it's really strong. Just a few dabs from my...
Just wondering if anyone has been buying these since this happened last summer. I'm tempted by La Myrrhe but I keep thinking maybe it will show up on ebay.
2. Dior Homme
3. Dior Homme Intense
I wear DH most often of the 3, and Chergui is for a little more special occasions. I don't wear DHI very much, but I like it enough to keep.
I only have a little decant but I love Eau de Cartier Essence d'Orange.
Fille en Aiguilles usually gets comments when I wear it. It's kind of sexy and smart at the same time.
$130 is acceptable....I am getting a pretty nice tax return so I am going to splurge a bit. Another option is to get 2 or 3 of the cheaper ones.
I love Coromandel but I probably wouldn't wear it...
I don't want to go over about $120. Here's the list I've narrowed it down to:
CK One Shock for Him
Comme des Garcons 2 Man
