  1. Re: most challenging fragrance you want to like but (so far anyway) just can't

Honestly, while it's not necessarily challenging, I'm still struggling with Nicolai New York Intense. Perhaps, it's the weather though I know some wear it in the summer. I simply can't figure it out...

    Re: Non loud, gentle fragrances

Green Irish Tweed for sure. It's such a poised and self-contained fragrance imo.
  6. Re: The Official Creed Green Irish Tweed thread!

Its understated charm is my favorite aspect of GIT. It doesn't shout or demand. All that being relative, of course.
  7. Re: Has Your Fragrance Wardrobe Grown Beyond Your Original Intention?

I'm most amazed with how fickle I can become with a scent. That often makes me begrudgingly seek out something new. I still hope to get down to 5-6 though.

I reconnected with my first love, Tuscan Leather, recently. Too hot to wear atm but it's still the best leather frag for me.

    "Sir, you're having a stroke."
  11. Re: Beau de Jour to become part of Tom Ford's signature line?

I wonder what's the source of that? It's weird. I swear, once I smell something weird in a frag I can't unsmell it no matter how much I may love the other aspects, especially if it's in the dry down.
  12. Re: Beau de Jour to become part of Tom Ford's signature line?

Interesting. It goes to show how subjective it often is. I just ordered a backup of the Private Blend. There's something in the Signature dry down that I can no longer unsmell. It's hairsprayish (as...
  13. Re: Beau de Jour to become part of Tom Ford's signature line?

I actually sold my Signature bottle of BdJ. The PB version is where it's at for me. The dry downs are not comparable to my nose. The amber in the PB is almost comparable to Grand Soir and the scent...

Beautiful answer. We are obsessed with youth. As a result, puerility has become a mainstay and wisdom is at a premium.
  15. Re: Vintage-freak Thinking Of Venturing Into Creeds. Wait, What?!

I second Royal Oud and Aventus. Both are gems. 2011 Royal Oud is spectacular. I'm happy with Aventus from 2016 on up though I don't like anything from 2018 and have yet to sniff anything from 2020....

Having just sniffed vintage Bel Ami, I have to still stick with Tuscan Leather. Bel Ami just didn't do it for me. It's too severe to my nose. Gucci Guilty Absolute is close behind TL though.

    Yup.
  18. Re: The Official Creed Green Irish Tweed thread!

  24. Re: What are the most fun-smelling fragrances in your opinion?

Virgin Island Water fits the bill for me. I gave a decant to a buddy for his 30th in Vegas and was an apparent hit for him. It's just bona fide happy scent to my nose.
  25. Re: The Official Creed Green Irish Tweed thread!

I love my 2016 bottle. I had a 2015 bottle that I now regret selling. It was very rich. My 2016 seems brighter by comparison.
  26. Re: What are some frags you went on binges with, then forgot about?

I need to try vintage Polo at some point. Heritage EDT is such a gem as well.
  27. Re: Does there exist ONE "all around" favorite Cologne ?

At the moment, it's vintage Azzaro Pour Homme for me (I haven't smelled the newest iteration).
  28. Re: What are some frags you went on binges with, then forgot about?

I wore GIT and Aventus pretty much nonstop for most of 2017 and 2018. I still love 'em but the binging is over...Now it's Azzaro Pour Homme haha.
  29. Re: Name the fragrance you tried/smelled today for the first time.

It definitely took almost a year to grow on me and then it's like a switch flipped. I went through two samples before I suddenly became mildly obsessed. YMMV though, of course.

I'm the same way. Btw wore GIT two nights in a row. Man, what a gem.
  33. Re: Which Fragrance Are You Currently Waiting To Be Delivered In The Mail?

    Nicolai New York Intense
  34. Re: What's Your Go-To "Dumb Reach" Fragrance?

Yeah, definitely. I prefer it cooler weather though.
  35. Re: What's Your Go-To "Dumb Reach" Fragrance?

So damn good. I've taken a break from it only because I wore GIT almost every day in 2018.
  36. Re: Name the fragrance you tried/smelled today for the first time.

Mine as well. Some days, it can be sneaky too. Regardless, both my bottles definitely macerated/matured.
  37. Re: PSA: Insane price on Creed Bois du Portugal 17oz flacon

Ah that sounds amazing. How far back do I need to go? 2013? Will def keep a lookout. I'm starting to obsess over fougeres. I just ordered a bottle of Nicolai NY Intense.
  38. Re: The Official Creed Green Irish Tweed thread!

  39. Re: PSA: Insane price on Creed Bois du Portugal 17oz flacon

How does new BdP smell by comparison? I've only smelled a decant from 2015. It was very soapy to my nose.
  40. Re: What's Your Go-To "Dumb Reach" Fragrance?

  60. Re: Beau de Jour to become part of Tom Ford's signature line?

Not exactly like Grand Soir but perhaps of the same quality. In fact, it's so rich that I then gravitate back to the Signature release that remains more herbal more evident lavender in the base.
  61. Re: Beau de Jour to become part of Tom Ford's signature line?

Looking forward to your feedback from a full wear. Surprisingly,I found the amber in the PB that emerges in the dry down quite lovely. To my nose, it's high quality up there with Grand Soir...

  64. Re: There is a reason they're classics and still around

Yeah, that's a great point. The notion of being 'dated' or 'old' is simply colored by our subjective perceptions. That said, I'm lowering my Bumble filter to 19 :-/.
  65. Poll: Re: Is Creed Aventus Still Worth it in 2020?

I wonder if the voting is based on full retail price though? I don't think I'd ever pay that. The most I spent was 320 for a 120ml bottle of a particular batch.
  66. Re: There is a reason they're classics and still around
