My favorites are SDV and Sublime Vanille.
Top Notes: Calabrian Bergamont, Moroccan Grapefruit, Crimean Corriander
Middle Notes: Tuscan Iris Absolute
Base Notes: Virginia Cedar Wood (not listed but in the explanation it also mentions...
Usually the more mainstream something is the more well liked it is.
I ALWAYS get compliments with Chanel AHS, Bleau de Chanel, 1 million, and fresh aquatics.
Most of what I love doesnt get the...
Any more info on this. I think it's hilarious. What a novelty!
I tried this and for me I thought it was more of a feminine smell. I would love this on a girl. To me nothing jumped
SteelerOpera - I haven't smelled Givenchy Gentlemen Only, but I have smelled the ferragamo. I may be opposite of you in that I found it less synthetic than the Issey Miyake Summer 13. But i definitly...
Im 29 and wear one million. Its a great smelling fragrance that gets lot's of positive feedback back in the real world as opposed to on here where it gets hate.
Being into fragrances as most of us are I go sniffing around a lot at malls, niche stores, friends houses etc. Sometimes I write my opinions and sometimes I don't. After sniffing today I just had to...
i could care less about brand reputation, image, and exclusivity. If this means I can get my hands on some bottles of fragrances i like for less money, then Im all for it.

There never is a finishing piece to the wardrobe....
YSL - Rive Gauchehttp://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d47/tknife/rivegauche_zpse1200a55.jpg
I have both of these and I get a lot of use out of them down here in Miami.
I would use these scents for mostly the same purposes: daytime casual wear in anytime of the year.
These are both...
in the door of the fridge
No that's only 5 or 6 that YOU agree with or like and 20 to 30 in the other category that YOU ike
In my opinion Bond's line is too cluttered and filled with many uninspiring fragrances. They have 55 flavors! It is inevitable that there is overlap. Their counter is a clusterfuck of bottles...
Is this the old formulation or the new one?
In many pictures I see online the box and tin appear black. Mine looks brown with distinctive black bars that run horizontally. So the whole thing isnt black.
Legit or not?
Trouble going through 55 different fragrances at the Bond counter? Swarovski crystals in your way? No worries Join the Bond Club.
Highlights include- (taken from the site)
Now & Forever Gold...
Frapin - 1270
Killian - Back to black and Straight to heaven
Creed - MI / VIW
Bond 9 - BLeecker Street and Coney Island
Back of the neck and thats it. i don't like opening at all
That smells like the vanilla powder mix protein shakes
I have a sample of it coming in this week from luckyscent. I want to see how it stacks up to 1270 and 1698
I think that it is definitely one of the safer blind buys. It has excellent projection, sillage, and longevity (especially on clothes).
You hit the nail on the head with why it doesn't fly here...
I read that, its great to have your opinion but it turns into your belief being correct and telling others that they are wrong. And thats wrong.
OP i disagree because the perception of "value" and "good" are very subjective. You state your subjective opinions as facts and take a stance that those who don't agree with you are wrong. On top of...
Unless the smell changes in the 100ml I dont think so. If your lookin to cheap out you still can. 50-100 is the MSRP for most new fragrances on the market. In the future due to inflation this same...
I am disagreeing about the subjectivity of your argument. You are also biased in this argument. I also think its funny to ask a forum of fragrance enthusiasts if they think its harder to find a good...
allure home edition blanche!:thumbup::thumbup:
With so much talk on here all the time about reformulations and flankers, does anyone here consider any of them to be better than the originals in which they came from?
To me Pure Malt seems...
The stance you take is of the elitist one. You start by saying that this is your opinion. Yet you close implying that people can afford ONE good bottle of something you subjectively think is "good"....
another vote for SDV!!!
I found this to be very un-wearable scent. I wore it to dinner once and had the most unpleasant experience eating food. The mix between the smell of LDDM and the food was horrible. After that I just...
If i want that smell i use TDH its got LOTS of it in there but with other notes for added depth and complexity. I find ISO super E (molecule 01) so one dimensional and linear.
Molecule 01 is not understated its just overpriced ISO super E. Thats all you get. You can make tons of it yourself for a fraction of the price.
Guerlain - Tonka Imperiale and SDV
Frapin - 1270
Nassomato - Black Afghano
ANdy Tauer - LDDM
I think you meant 1995.
they are about the same to me. maybe just some pear in the new formulation.
is rive gauche being discontinued or something. It's really cheap too, amazon has it for 30 bucks, i ordered it the other day.
down in miami its PLENTY versatile
I was testing out Interlude Man today and I could not take it anymore. It was the first time I could remember having to wash a fragrance off. What fragrances did you guys HAVE to wash up because you...
why the boss bottled hate?
i bought a decant blind and didnt like it enough to wear
millesime imperial (I get so much use out of this, it is perfect in the hot Miami weather)
green irish tweed (I wear this to the office a lot)
VIW (great for casual day time wear down here)...
Virgin island water comes to mind
track down a vintage bottle of d&g. Its so much better.
In the heat that is a cloying monster!
Winter is relative?
I live in miami, what is this winter you speak of? its 81 and humid out right now
I have it on right now and it smells nothing like coca cola to me. It is warm peppery/cinnamon/vanilla/amber scent. Nothing bubbly or sugary about it.
Fragrance perception is purely subjective. The same way you notice a similarity between GIT and Cool water is the same way many other people notice a smiliarity between Le Male and Reflection Man....
What people like is very subjective.
If you hate it because it is mainstream you are a fragrance hipster/snob.
If you hate it because of the way it smells then good on you.
If you like MFK...
to work ----- Chanel - Platinum Egoiste
Eau D'Orange Verte
Although if you get into the Hermessence line I'd reccomend Santal Massoi. It does very well down here in hot/humid Miami, FL.
I agree 100%. Im just being as objective as I can in a very subjective world. Some people deny things some don't. Maybe they genuinely get the resemblance and then again maybe not. I try my best to...
Im having her bring it by later for a wrist to wrist comparison.
I came home to this today :)
Maybe its because of a girl I'm...
Why would you have 9 bottles of DHI?
Also you like what you like. There isn't one specific ingredient in ALL designer frag meant to bother your nose. I'm sure there is some designer frag out there...
All of those have good qualities but the most versatile of the bunch is Sel Marin
I was hoping this would have been a new Hermessence fragrance :undecided:
I keep them in the door of the refrigerator. Ive had no problems in 2 years. Im looking into getting a winer cooler soon though.
This all depends on your definition of similar.
Bond No. 9 Scent of Peace is similar to D&G light blue for women
Bond No. 9 New Haarlem is often considered to smell similar to Rochas Man...
Wow so many to name. As I go through this hobby, as tastes change, and over time, I have acquired what I think are better versions of something I already have. So much so that I never even reach for...
Because of the elitist fragrance snobs who like the original more because it it harder to find.
Frapin 1697? Or speakeasy?
Also Krigler - Established Cognac 66 is similar to Frapin 1270. However the Krigler is 115$ more and has weaker longevity.
D&G Pour Homme
Ok I got my hands on a friends sample of this earlier today and put it on one wrist and frapin 1270 on the other.
The EC66 is a stronger projector than the 1270 at first.
Initially the frapin...
for what it is i like it. Its a synthetic sugary/vanilla/tonka mix. Has great projection, good longevity and gets lots of compliments
Living in hot and humid Miami, FL i have used and enjoyed this one the most out of my collection.
i love the bleecker...
I suggest andy tauer l'air du desert marocain for a fall/winter incense vibe.
Creed Virgin Island Water/ Bond. No 9 coney island - for a fun summer/spring vibe
Bond No.9 bleeker street is a...
I just got through with the sample pack after learning about it through Robes08. It sounded interesting so I ordered it...
I can not get past those top notes
....sigh.... i guess if accessibility matters that much to you
Yea, thats the whole elitist/hipster mentality. I used to get a lot of compliments with rochas when i was in the 18-23 range
I agree with you and in a perfect world/perfect setup I would have loved to do that. My only rebuttle to that is there were many other STRONG fragrances that didnt make it. TV, OS, New Haarlem are...
4 women were involved in the showdown (I just edited the original to include the number). I wish I had more involved but getting four in my apartment was hard enough lol.
Yes I was going to add that. They did say it smelled like the store and how it reminded them of HS and the mall. One said "why would anyone want to smell like this store" and the others agreed. I...
After being around members of this community I would have expected to see other choices in the top, especially not two designers and especially not two of the most hated on ones. It just goes to show...
*** DISCLAIMER ***
What people like is very subjective. this was done using 4 females in the 22-28 year old range with almost no "knowledge" of fragrances, purely subjective. I myself am a 29 year...
In my opinion its ok. I spray it around when Im at just at home watching tv before going to bed. I prefer reflection man over this. Since many people are trained to like this it gets a lot of...
Try using unscented skin lotion prior to application.
With the holidays coming up, I needed help picking out a woman's niche frag for a friend of mine that has taken an interest into fragrances.
I only know of the men's side to...
Acqua Fiorentina Encore!!
But SDV is boss!
Ambre Narguile gets em everytime
1. How old are you? 28
2. Male or female? male
3. Im an extrovert
4. Do you like to be unique, or do you like to fit in? Both
5. Are you more "organized, careful and disciplined,"...
As a 28 year old male living in miami
Bond No. 9 - New Haarlem its amazing for how it smells I can just never find a time and place to wear it. It's too cloying in the heat and humidity, to sweet...
both of these fragrances lack versatility and are not suited for warm climates. I live in Miami, and I wear TV maybe 2-3 times a year on the coldest days possible. AN i can sneak in here and there in...
I think this thread stands as testament to NOT blind buy. This is a very subjective hobby filled of varying opinions. Going down the list of suggestions I would be disappointed about half the time...
4. Montale Black Aoud
5. Pure havane
It's an all around good fragrance. To us in the fragrance world, yeah we may be over it and have moved onto other things. To the rest of the world, whether its socially accepted as smelling good or...
Projection, longevity and sillage have all been great with this fragrance.
I think AHS is a more unique smelling frag than Bleau which is a just generic smell good mass marketed scent. AHS can be argued the same but it smells more unique, to me at least.
Diva D, Im with...
I ended up buying the full bottle because I already had AN and the only other fragrance I like from the Hermessence line is this one. If I didnt have AN i would have done the four pack of 2 AN and 2...
For a long time I have been mulling over the decision on whether or not to pull the trigger on a bottle of Santal Mossoia, and a week ago I finally did.
The hot and humid summer months down here...
Bond Little Italy - very nice citrus dominating fragrance
Bond Coney Island -
Bond Fire Island - a beach day in a bottle
Back to black
For a long time I have been meaning to try out and wear Creed's MI. Let me preface this by saying I own a few bottles of Creeds other fragrances and enjoy them all. Overall I would say that...
I bought it and I never can find an occasion to wear it. I like the way it smells and its very well done but for me it's like New haarlem. I just cant seem to find a time when I want to smell like...
Sometimes I can't chose which fragrance I want and end up going scentless
I would recommend a gourmand. Try Rochas Man its a nice inexpensive designer fragrance that a smooth chocolate/coffee scent.
Lolita limpika Au Masculine is another good choice. It has a nice...
