You won't make a statement wearing this. If anyone is close enough to smell this on you, they'll think you used a fine soap to shower with.
Classy and discreet.
Creed Millesime Imperial is fresh, floral and fruity and used to be a favourite at Basenotes.
Whether you like it or not, it's definitely not old school.
All of you Creed fanboys have been pwned. Take that!
... and you Americans too.:dankk2:
What has happened to my Basenotes?
I just checked the website and this is what it said:
We are decanting from Lot #C4215Q01 purchased September of 2015 from Saks Fifth Avenue. If you don't know what that means, basically there...
A sweet fragrance with projection for a young guy who's in high school. Who's not a multimillionaire.
Finally after smelling a proper version of Aventus I feel I can comment on it.
Aventus IS like a 21st century version of Polo. I don't mean they smell alike.
Masculine, woods, noticeable. Crowd...
It certainly is strange that one of the best selling niche perfume makers in France (and the world) is not known by the French. It might be that much of the Creeds are sold for export and the locals...
I was just being sarcastic, sorry. The recent meanness of Basenotes is rubbing off...
Seriously, some fragrances are downright masculine or feminine. It's not just marketing.
But others are...
Wear anything you want because there's no difference between men and women.:rolleyesold:
I figured I'd post this for those looking for an alternative to paying $400 on a risky formulation of Creed Aventus.
I purchased the XxX shaving soap from RazoRock and sure enough it smells...
+1 Guerlain Homme
Mint, lime, rum and cane sugar. Wonderful stuff.
Enjoy your trip!
I'm sure Tom was asked many times starting years ago. He either chose not to, or the money wasn't right.
I could care less about his beliefs, just so long that he keeps on making fine movies.
I hear you Kem, when I was younger I used to love getting up real early, especially in the spring. Something magical about the pre-dawn hours.
I could mention all kinds of expensive ouds/aouds/aoudhs but
Montale Dark Aoud to me smells sinister.
Really Ripped Abs on Steroids Mega Cologne Spray by BOD Man.
Seriously, Dunhill for Men (1934)
If he ever asks you again, tell him it's Avignon - a scent that is supposed to smell like a church based on the city of the same name.
Well said. You beat me to it.

We've been trying to reduce the cost of shipping to Canada...and we've finally done it. We will no longer charge any broker fees for shipments going to Canada. To celebrate, we will be offering free...
Boozy rum and rich patchouli.
My pick for the best/funniest description!
Mine is Montale Aoud Cuir D'arabie. Should be renamed Montale Peau L'horse Naturel.
Montale Dark Aoud
I've been here almost since the beginning (as Ailrc) and I too take breaks from the madness that is fragrance collecting. I even remember the Cologne Guy website.
Drooling at all the beautiful...
Ahhh.... maybe NOT.
When you're going to spend this much money, I advise sampling first. I got mine at The Perfumed Court.
My last group of samples included Tom Ford Neroli Portofino and Acqua Di Parma Colonia...
something fresh: citrus or aquatic
something conservative: woody/fougere
something for dates/nightlife: gourmand/oriental
For a guy in his 20's to 30's I'd go with:
Aqua Di Gio or Chanel Pour...
Dated and generic are.. well... generic terms. Very non-specific.
That's why I appreciate foetidus' reviews. He puts a lot of thought into them and to me is the gold standard.
I just tried my samples of FEA and Norne.
Norne - Foresty, camphorous
FEA - Piney, resinous, incense
Fille en Aiguilles
Offering relief from the
sun's rays, the pine shelters
Looks like Basenotes is now a political website...

You just can't go wrong with Creed Pure White Cologne.
You have a very nice selection to choose from.
Montale Aoud Cuir d’Arabie - "fecal"
Montale Dark Aoud - "sinister"
MFK Oud Velvet Mood and Oud Cashmere Mood - "burning tires"
Pure Oud By Killian and Oud Mona di Orio - "barnyard"
Chanel Pour Monsieur
Armani Eau Pour Homme
These are easy to like.
I understand that some may perceive you as some kind of "girly man". Friends and relatives may give you some no-so-good-natured ribbing.
All I can do is tell you to wear it proudly. When they ask...
I believe mine is from 1990.
It was a very good year...
I would do a lot of testing on some of the heavily hyped scents and see what I like.
You can only wear so much...
New York by Parfums de Nicola´
For simplicity I like the Dior exclusives.
The whole Xerjoff line makes me drool - like Nio with its art deco engraving and silk bag... mmmmm.
I guess I missed the boat in 1995. I sometimes show up late for the party.
JPG Le Male
I was too old for this in '95, what the hell am I doing with it now?
It makes me happy.
Okay, I'll try it... oh oh!
Nope. I think it's just fine for any man.
Cool Water has a peppermint and geranium thing going on.
I get a violet leaf and verbena scent with GIT.
Slightly similar but not the same.
Could you please point me out to this deal? - Sartorial (1.7 EDT, gel and DEO) $59.99
I can't seem to find it.
If I was driving, I would have gotten into an accident! You saved me a lot of time saying exactly what I wanted to say.
Remember only the good stuff smells like poo (Dior, Mona di Orio)...
When they came for the cigarettes, you didn't mind because you weren't a smoker.
When the they came for your frags... you get the picture.
This is what happens when a single person claims to be...
I appreciate all compliments from anyone.
I think mixing Joop! and 1 Million is written about in the book of Revelations.
I ordered 1.7 oz Bvlgari Aqua from Fragrancenet, received 3.4 oz instead.
I was charged for the 1.7 oz only. I never complained.
No - but I wish I had free handouts of clinical deodorant to give out to people who think body odour is sexy.
I was just wearing this one yesterday and I was thinking this could be the mens answer to Chanel No. 5.
What I mean is it's always in style. It's in the same league as Chanel Pour Monsieur but I...
I've never tried it or even seen it before last week. It was $20 at my local drug store... I may give it a go.
I also have Virgin Island Water in my rotation - tough competition for SSSB.
I'm a big Guerlain Homme fan. A few years ago I purchased Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche for my trip to the Caribbean. While at the airport, I tested some Guerlain Homme before boarding the...
Almost anything that is:
-very difficult to find
-more expensive than Creed or Bond #9
-parfum, extrait, or intense versions
-Tom Ford (Private Blend collection only)
Because you like Polo, you may be a fan of chypres.
"This sharp scent is based on harmony of oak moss, labdanum, patchouli and bergamot."
You also may like:
Coriolan (if you can find...
I have only tried two different batches but the first batch fragrance was non-existent and the second was too birchy/smoky. I gave up.
I also have MI, VIW and GIT and think they are great.
I returned Givenchy pour Homme to the store within an hour of buying it. They weren't too keen on taking it back.
One of the weakest scents I've ever tried.
I purchased Aventus blind online and...
Thanks for the support folks!
As a follow-up, I just received an e-mail from PayPal telling me that my money has been refunded.
Too bad royalperfumery didn't do this in the first place.
I have a teeny-tiny bottle of the original and I purchased a new bottle last year.
I believe the new version uses tree moss instead of oakmoss but the difference is very slight.
The new Polo is...
It might be a good idea to have a pinned list of retailers to avoid.
I placed an order with Royalperfumery on May 31 and have not had a reply since.
The money was taken from Mastercard to PayPal. ...
I think you would like D&G The One.
Looking at your comments I would say NOT... but Anthony Hopkins might like it .
It's not only what you wear, but how you wear it.
I always got a fresh fir smell from Sung Homme. Same with Camp Beverly Hills.
I found them most fresh and pleasant.
My favourite summer scent is Guerlain Homme.
Both are fougeres.
Fougere compositions include notes of lavender, geranium, moss and wood. This group primarily includes perfumes for men.
I like both very much. (Sartorial is now my next...
VIW is a vacation in a bottle.
L'eau d'Issey Pour Homme & Aqua di Gio. Too sharp.
AND ALMOST ANYTHING WITH AOUD/OUD!!!
Many seem to associate oriental scents as warm and romantic and therefore sexy.
Some also find fresh fougeres to be sexy.
Sexy is in the nose of the beholder.
Creed MI lasts a long time, but very close to the skin.
Same with Creed Himalaya.
GIT lasts a long time for me and projects very well.
Gucci PH1 dies out in under an hour.
Have been digging JPG Le Male lately. My next purchase.
I have the original DH and find it fresher than the somewhat sticky newer DHI.
DH stays fairly close to the skin while DHI projects more.
Chanel Egoiste Platinum is similar to Montblanc Legend so I would pick one of the other two.
Guerlain Homme is a fresh lime, mint vetiver mojito-like fragrance that works well in the warmer weather....
I bought this one blind in a tin gift pack and love it.
A few years ago a small perfume shop in my area had 3 unopened small bottles for sale at $19.99 each.
Like an idiot, I...
GIT can really impress. It's very green and fresh.
One of the closest things to a "sure thing" scent.
It could be Iso E Super which is found in many fragrances.
I find Black Afgano both woody and earthy. Rich and moist like the woods after a rainfall.
I sometimes wear a fragrance that reflects my environment and mood.
We're now in the full swing of spring (finally) and my top guns are:
Green Irish Tweed
with support from...
Virgin Island Water
All of my samples have been purchased from Luckyscent. I wish they could send their bottles through USPS as well.
High end stores are limited in my area, overpriced and cheap giving out samples.
Hey John. Generally speaking, citrus, aquatic and vetiver based fragrances are good for warm weather because they don't tend to get as cloying as spicy orientals.
Swiss Army is pretty close.
I didn't know you met Sarah Jessica Parker!:2vrolijk_08:
Guerlain Homme took a beating but I loved it on first smell and is a regular in my summer rotation.
I was plenty insecure in my youth but my passion for fragrance has nothing to do with it.
It started with aftershaves. Boys didn't wear fragrance but men did.
As I tried different aftershaves...
The funny thing is, I was one of those who got the lady's purse on my very first sniff....
Vetiver Extraordinaire used to be my achilles heel. Now I'm fascinated by it.
I find that given enough time, I can "get" almost any perfume.
I'm saving Dior Homme Intense for Christmas.
Some of you may have heard of that one before.
Knize Ten. When she smells this, she may think you're not kidding.23195
My feelings exactly.
