Jaïpur Homme by Boucheron
I was asked by an Ex GF to wear only Rive Gauche. At least she had some taste!
Green Irish Tweed
In no particular order:
Polo (Ok, 1978 but this was THE smell of the 80's)
Lagerfeld Classic (Again, 1978 but this scent makes me think of '84, when I wore it)
+1 Mine came sealed as well.
I haven't had the pleasure to try GV yet, I'll need to add it to the list. My fav's are Floris Vetiver and Encre Noire.
Guerlain Vetiver. So dissapointed on this one, as I really like a lot of vetivers, however this one smelled like a full ashtray. Couldn't wash off fast enough...
This is where I knew I would get authentic Antaeus from. Retail price was better than what some e-tailers were charging.
Smells like a slightly drier, less creamy version of Floris Santal.
From smooth to spicy, I would rank as:
If you have any one of these three,...
LdDM may be my biggest u-turn on a fragrance. I bought the 100ml bottle blind the week they announced they were eliminating that size. At first wearing, I thought "what's the big deal...smells too...
For me, Grey Flannel is the epitome of a green fragrance. A modern take on this would be Hermès Eau de Gentiane Blanche.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Cologne shall not smell like meat.
Most: CK Be... at least 8 sprays with hot weather.
Least: Kouros... 1 distant spray to chest + 1 mist walkthrough = walking in heaven all day. More than that = go straight to hell.
Wow, I've barely worn any of these lately....why, oh why???
A*Men, M7, Michael. Only wear those on the coldest days.
Felt a little funny when first re-visiting original Polo late last year, but got over that by drydown.
I've never been timid about...
Platinum Egoiste was the first thing to come to mind
- Tauer Lonestar Memories
- Guerlain Habit Rouge
- Guerlain Vetiver
+1 on Lonestar Memories. Cologne should never smell like meat.
There's only one cologne that my gf ever asked me to re-shower in order to wash off immediately: Brit.
I'm glad the collection is diverse!
Used to love Paco Rabanne when I was younger. Tried it a couple of months ago for nostalgia sake, and had to trash it
Habit Rouge, Guerlain Vetiver, Lonestar Memories.
Only scent GF gagged on and requested a scrubbing was Brit (never understood her disdain for that one).
So glad I didn't buy a full bottle blind. Instead, I got a miniature to try.
Now I like vetiver (love Floris Vetiver), and I like tobacco scents, but this smelled to me like an ashtray. Totally...
And although I love A*men when applied judiciously (mist and walkthrough), it will bring on the headache if over-applied. Proceed with caution.
That guy's rockin' Joop for sure.
A Guerlain double-stench: Habit Rouge & Vetiver
I'm usually a pretty considerate guy, but I wore Kouros yesterday and something struck me -- I absolutely didn't give a damn what anyone else thought about it.
Would women like it? Would guys...
After a 20 year hiatus, I just welcomed back Kouros in to my collection. I never even considered it until joining Basenotes...
-Polo Original (The definition of 80's)
-Safari (very early 90's, but this one defines the end of the 80's era for me)
-Paco Rabanne PH
Maybe L'Homme Sage?

Guess I'm on an English kick...
When I'm in the mood for a scent like M7, I mentally flip a coin to choose between M7 or Michael Kors -- they both fill the bill for me.
I just caught myself doing that yesterday, although I never consciously set out to do so: When I woke up, I felt like wearing Rive Gauche, but I realized I was running late so I didn't have time to...
Grey Flannel -- it was my first "green" scent many years ago, and to this day remains the epitome of green to me.
Many years ago when I was in the military, I came back to my room rather drunk and somehow knocked a bottle of my favorite cologne out of my wall locker. So there in s-l-o-w-m-o-t-i-o-n I see my 3/4...
"Sex Panther by Odeon. It's illegal in nine countries... Yep, it's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good."
Well, I may have made a premature judgement on that one. It actually seems to be calling my name so I'll probably be getting it soon -- "old man" or not. This wouldn't be the only fragrance in my...
I was sampling Floris Vetiver today, and I was actually quite happy with it. I did ask a female friend (who is usually the first to give me a compliment) what her opinion of it was. She replied "It...
My Dad's staple scent was Aramis. I remember as a kid thinking that's what a man is supposed to smell like.
Several years ago when I wore Paco Rabanne, I had a girlfriend who would also put some on when she was at my place. This was before I had ever heard of unisex scents, but I never thought it was...
I remember reading past threads where people would talk about fragrances that made them nauseous. I stopped and pondered the fact that although I may dislike some fragrances, I have never found one...
Never saved a bottle, but looking back I do wish I would have saved the bottle that Safari came in. I also got rid of a full bottle of Lalique Lion that I had acquired -- I didn't care for the juice...
Bvlgari Black would go perfectly with the Batsuit.
I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk on this one, especially given Ineke's forum sponsorship.
I just received a sample of this along with my bottle of L'Air du Desert Marocain. I'm still not...
Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme is a very nice citrus/pepper/tobacco scent. Given that it seems to change on everyone who wears it, I would think it would be worth a sampling since you are not bound to...
Luckyscent is out of stock as of today
Love this thread--takes me back to early college days...
The first thing I thought of from the description (and my own wearing at that time) was Lagerfeld Classic. Other popular scents at the...
