I bought it today ;D
Never mind, I figured it out. It is a brand new version of Summer cologne not listed on here, also not available on perfumebay. Here's an eBay link if anyone is interested. I really liked it, it was...
At the department store yesterday I tried a Tommy frag that I really liked. It looked a lot like the "summer 2005" bottle but I seem to remember the bottle being darker, and I know for...
One of my favorites, fruity and flowery but in a serious and sensual way instead of the playfulness of most scents like that. It has kind of a musty smell that I really like. I also find it pretty...
My girlfriend goes absolutley nuts for Samourai. No matter what I'm doing she will come snuggle up to me and put her head on my chest when I wear it.
You have plenty of good ones in your wardrobe. Go for Envy, Allure Sport, or Issey
I can get several good hours out of it.
This is a long shot but I bet at least one of you fragrances geniuses knows the answer to this.
A long time ago a friend of mine had a cologne called Hall of Fame. He said he paid like $10 for it...
Are you sure you mean Egoiste Platinum and not regular Egoiste? Platinum is very strong and not what I would call woody.
This is the first one that came to my mind as well.
It's definetly not for everyone, but it is my favorite Chanel and maybe my favorite anything ever. It's not supposed to be anything like Egoiste, it's the "alter ego" or something. That initial smell...
Platinum Egoiste might work. Even though it's sweet and sexy that incredibly sharp opening still says "F*** OFF"
As long as we are doing one of these threads can you guys tell me if I have any major gaps? My collection:
Most "expensive" would be Creed Tabarome 4oz which retails for $180, but I paid $60 for it.
The most I have ever paid for a fragrance would be Hanae Mori EDT for $68 brand new in a store.
I love it. It's classly, but not TOO classy. It could be worn with almost anything. I'm also surprised to see so many of you call it light or weak. I get poor longevity out of most scents and I...
I don't know why, but I feel like Platinum Egoiste would work.
My girlfriend is exactly like me, won't leave the house without something on. I have 2 friends that wear it for dates and nothing else, and a couple more that don't even own any.
This may be heresy here, but I would just go with some cheap old spice or something because
A) It's going to be mixed with sweat anyway
B) A strong scrent would distract you or others
Creed Tabarome and Nicolai New York
2. Cool Water
I was thinking more along the lines of Jovan Musk
About 6 months ago I was in Von Maur and when the SA asked if I needed help I asked her if they had anything "kind of sweet, feminine, and different". She pulled out Hanae Mori, and I was sold. That...
Parfums de Nicolai New York (awesome!) and Xeryus Rouge (bleh)
My favorites are L'Eau d Issey and Minotaure
They will easily be able to afford it, Abercrombie clothes may be marketed to teens, but specifically to teens with rich parents. A good polo from that store is $50 so an $80 fragrance shouldn't...
Fortunately I live in a medium sized town in Iowa, and there just isn't much in the way of fashion here. I do remember in high school a girl I was sort of interested in said I smelled like her ex...
I'm sure it won't be a popular choice, but Oscar for Men is my favorite. Leathery and dry with a little bit of sweetness, but not nearly as much as Gucci PH or Rochas Lui
I haven't smelled that one yet but Diesel Plus Plus smells almost exactly like Geir to me.
Maybe it's just me, but I think Tabarome is perfect for winter.
Dior Homme smells almost exactly like Hanae Mori except where HM has this ultra-clean property to it, DH smells musty and dark. I love both of them.
Bois du Portugal. Spicy, dry, woody, and at least twice as strong as ony other Creed fragrance. Far and away my favorite thing to ever come out of that house.
Clean men is a lighter scent, but both of them definetly have that clean smell. Clean smells like showers and dryer sheets, Geir smells like cream and dew. At least to me
I know exactly what you mean but for some reason it only seems to happen when I am in the shower and the water is on. Maybe I should do an experiment on this for my psychology senior paper, it would...
Coincidentally I just got Bulgari Extreme in the mail today and while it isn't exactly similar I do think it can kind of occupy the same niche as Tabarome, and it does last a lot longer as well.
This is kind of weird, but I have to ask. Is it possible for a fragrance to leave residue in the shower for several weeks if you wash it off while it's still going strong? I ask because a couple...
At the moment I have about a dozen. *Before this obsession really blew up for me though I would only own 1 or 2 different fragrances at a time. *In the past my signature scents have been:
Yes, I have the new version. Do you mean that vintage smells better or last longer? I don't really want something that smells different, I absolutely love the smell of the milliseme, I just don't...
I've been wearing my decant of Tabarome by Creed a lot lately and it has really grown on me. The only problem is it only lasts about 3 hours on me and considering the high price tag I just...
Considering that it retails for almost $200 and most people can only get it online I would still say yes.
I'm a greedy bastard and my X-mas fragrance list is all the stuff I am too cheap to buy for myself.
Creed - Bois du Portugal
Creed - Erolfa
Creed - Tabarome
Nicolai - New York
I will be...
I know it's been mentioned a zillion times already, but Monseur Balmain smells exactly like these lemon head candies I used to eat when I was a kid. If you are familiar with this candy (my 2nd grade...
1. Chanel Egoiste Platinum, Laguna by Salvador Dali, Samourai by Alain Delon
2. Magnetism by Escada, HM by Hanae Mori
3. Bois du Portugal by Creed, Tabarome by Creed, New York by Patricia Nicolai...
It smells alright, not great but not bad either. Unfortunately it lasted less than 2 hours on me so I never bothered with it. It smells a lot like Lolia Lempicka, which lasts a little longer and is...
Envy is nothing like Opium and a little bit like M7 but M7 is sweeter and a little more...chaotic.
I own M7 and Opium and they are both fairly unique and very pleasant. I would recommend those 2...
Does Laguna count? If so that would be my choice.
I think Tabarome is much better than either, but of the 2 I would choose D & G. It's a more interesting scent.
I dont think you will be flamed for any of those. I like all of them but polo.
I love it and will take if off anyone's hands who doesn't want it.
I was beaten to it but I would also say Platinum Egoiste
I know most people here are all about the niche fragrances, but for the most part I lack the time and money to be able to test most of them. I was just wondering what everyones favorite mainstream...
Are we talking about feminine scents or female scents? *To me there is a distinct difference. *Many fragrances, even those designed and marketed toward men, contain dominant feminine notes or themes....
My girlfriend says Opium EDP reminds her of christmas and has requested I wear it a lot this winter.
Gucci Envy and Platinum Egoiste, definetly.
For all of you who feel this is too feminine you should check out HM by Hanae Mori. It's very similar but more masculine.
In my humble opinion, I actually believe that suit and tie occassions are the best times for wearing Platinum. It strikes me as a bit formal. I've worn it with jeans and a t-shirt, but something...
Imagine a mix of Le Male, oranges, hand soap and spice. *That's probably the best I can describe it.
Opium is another good YSL, and you still have to try Envy. It's probably the most mentioned in this thread, and for good reason. Finally, maybe check out Platinum Egoiste by Chanel.
It is my opinion that if you can't find a woman by just acting like yourself then you must be deficient in the social skills department, and no bizarro dating program thing is going to help you very...
It's definetly unique but I thought it reeked. Smells like hand soap and potpourii.
Good thread idea. If you guys could advise me as well that would be great. My favorites are:
HM by Hanare Mori
Envy by Gucci
A*Men by Theirry Mugler
M7 by Yves Saint Laurent
Opium by Yves...
212 men smells almost totally like sandalwood to me
My girlfriend only has one that I like: Amor Amor by Cacharel.
I can't think of a single situation for which Egoiste Platinum would be inappropriate, except maybe suit and tie occasions.
The mens fragrance is simply called HM. Other than that I don't understand what you are asking. HM is sweet but not A*Men sweet.
Fourthing or fifthing or whatever Gucci ENvy
It is definetly not feminine, nor anywhere near as sweet as A*Men. It is a mix of musk, spice, and sweetness but neither of these elements are really dominant.
I'll trade you my bottle of EDT for your EDP
I'm 22 and I love M7. It's like a casual, fresh version of a lot of "older man scents". Definetly worth it.
I use up to 8 sprays with some of my weaker fragrances. I usually put 1 spray of something on my wrist before bed after my shower, it helps relax me. So you aren't entirely alone.
If I had to pick one word to define Himalaya it would be classy. My only caveat would be that it lasts like one hour, literally. It's ridicuously short lived.
Erolfa would be perfect unless you are sailing for more than 2 hours, because that's as long as it lasts.
My list is updated. Unfortunately I haven't been able to test very many fragrances and my list is tiny but if anyone wants to send me samples or decants on me "to test" list be my guest :)
I am a senior in college now, so everything in my wardrobe. Before this year most of my fragrances were "classics" like:
And cheap stuff like:
You can get a 1.7 oz tester of Samourai by Alain Delon for $17.99 on Perfumebay
I have to agree with YSL. 5-10 years from now it might be Thierry Mugler but I can't really judge a house based on only 2 (similar) male fragrances and a really bizarre unisex fragrance.
I actually just got my first sample of Geir today. It's very nice but given the high praise it gets around here (as well as the high price of a bottle) I expected a bit more. It actually reminds me...
As much as I love cologne the gym is the one place I don't wear it. There's just no point, unless you go to the gym to try and meet women.
Men's Health tries so hard, but they really don't know anything about any of the topics they cover. Even their exercise information, the main focus of the magazine, is generally full of inaccuracies.
Are these still available? I am definetly interested.
I'm sticking to my guns. KC Reaction is the closest designer scent you'll probably find to Candies. It's less than $60 too. The only other scents I could think of are Versace Metal Jeans and perhaps...
Are you guys just recommending your favorite scents or what? I love Envy but it smells nothing like Candies, and it's also very strong.
Also I don't really want to spend more than $60 so Creed...
Well you can get bottles for around $25 on eBay so it's not a high risk investment. It's also very desirable on these boards and I'm sure a lot of people would trade for it if you don't end up...
It will probably smell like embalming fluid and mascara.
It seems to last a long time on most people, it disappeared quite quickly on me though.
I would think that if a girl has to compare you to her ex's, there's much bigger issues afoot[/quote]
It's not really abnormal to notice someone wearing the same fragrance as someone who was in...
Even if Axe did smell nice, which is of course entirely subjective, a lot of people (myself included) still wouldn't wear it simply because it's too mainstream. I'm not trying to be some kind of...
L'Anarchiste smells a bit like pumpkins to me. These smilies do rock also. Can we have grinches for xmas?
Your review of Magnetism was very helpful and I'm currently leaning towards that. It's inexpensive and I have the male version of Magnetism so we could have that cute thing going on. It also sounds...
I've been with her for 4 years so his view of me, whatever it is may, is already firmly established. *Besides I'm an amateur bodybuilder and am actually bigger than him anyway :)
Escada Magnetism (it just smells purple)
L'Anarchiste (halloween potpourii?)
Here is my (unlikely) situation.
Due to my newfound interest in fragrances I was considering getting my girlfriends father a cologne for Xmas. He is about 45, former marine still in decent shape,...
My girlfriend and I hit up the department store yesterday to look for fragrances we both liked for possible Xmas gifts. The aforementioned were our favorites and I was hoping someone here has...
Envy is hard to describe. To me it smells like freshly printed dollar bills stored in a wooden chest.
Do I really have to choose one? Those are my 2 favorite scents.
I have, the top notes smell great and the dry down smells like rancid soap. It was a disappointment.
Gucci Envy seems as close to being universally liked as anything I am aware of.
You stole my thoughts. HM is the closest to a perfect scent that I have found. It and A*Men are the only 2 scents I knew I had to have instantly after smelling them.
You aren't missing anything, it's a boring scent.
I think it smells great and the only reason I don't wear it is that everyone here has smelled it 100 times on other people already. If you aren't in that situation it's a great scent.
