Fille en Aiguiles
Yes, very much so. It reminds me of the rum soaked pipe tobacco before it is smoked. Ah, those were the days!
+1 I always find it a bit spooky.
"Opening Soon" is the only wordage. If the time it took to set up the Hermes relocation further up the road is anything to go by, I would expect nothing before the Spring. Then again how hard can it...
If you don't mind waiting, we look like getting a Dior boutique, if the advertising on the blanked out windows of the former Chanel shop are any indication. That's the one on the corner of...
I think there is a lot of respect for the likes of Eau Savage and AdP Colonia here. They suffer a little second class citizen status because of their relatively short longevity, I suppose.
I fell in love with Chene quite a while back overseas, but never able to follow up wearing as it is not available here. It is ahead of my preferences for Fille - if only the sweetness, and Five...
You're not "ordinary" you're one of us! And many of us (me) are beginners. Welcome, and enjoy te journey
No fish for me either but definitely seaweed; a particularly British take on the beach, sort of dull grey, shells n stuff.
+1 on Phylosykos. This takes me to Greece in an instant. Also as remik says the Mediterraneo line. The only Greek brand I know is Korres and I recommend Saffro, cardamon and amber. But Phylosykos is...
I have not tried the whole line fully, but I know I like Accord Oud and Sunday cologne.
And I thought I was a fragrance counter whore! I can't do more than about five at a time, wrists, hands, cards.
I think both are very good. I'd probably go for the Oud Royal, but it would be a very fine line. So I guess you can't go terribly wrong either way.
I'm also looking forward to trying the geranium. Thanks for news.
When I pull the trigger it will be for Fille en Aiguilles.
I have enjoyed wearing Baume de Doge and Jardin de Poet a few times, but they are fleeting.
Just a small update on the Chanel boutique Melbourne. It has shifted to next to the Hyatt hotel in Russell Street. I wish we had a Dior boutique here as I can only access the limited range at Myres....
I am always on the verge but people are so in a hurry these days; you have to mug them to say something unsolicited. The last time I wanted to comment I was in the lift, and the woman was also...
I was quite into these a while back. I can't remember which I liked best Profond or Moderne, I don't recall the other one - a pleasant understated fresh fragrance. The down side was that they needed...
I love it and have not bought it because of the price. I had also thought it to be very short lived but on last try out I found it to be quite satisfactory. Yes, I think the peper mix with the citrus...
I agree with kumquat's Eau d'hadrien and Trefle pure. In adddition to Marais' Crabtree & Evelyn suggestion, I would also recommend the Neapolitan Bergamot, which I have used a fair bit this down...
Yes, I would go crazy buying fragrance. Why blind buy? With that budget it would be all retail, SAs falling over themselves to please my every olefactory whim.
+1 (or two) for Bois D'Encens and CdG 2 Man.
Now I'm tempted damn it!
I like the term. It is used well here I think. I wore Idole EdP yesterday, and 1270 today, Ooo, lah, lah! heady stuff, yes boozy, among other things of course.
I have it and enjoy its unconventional refinement. The wife also likes it (and that is a very big plus, believe me). It could be a little more refreshing and more projecting for my tastes, though not...
As soon as L'homme Blanc said he was wearing Royal Oud it spoke to us in a way that his fine story could not have done on its own. It is another language; one we gradually begin to understand,...
Only from the wife up till now. But that is a huge plus as she is usually very negative. I'm enjoyong it this Melbourne summer of summers so far.
They are both versatile. I would probably lean towards the EdT for the summer, and I know about summer; 40 C degrees plus for the whole of this week!
I am among the small band who actually like Ambre Russe. It is strong rounded and long lasting. Booze and pipe tobacco, some find too feminine??
I must add that I don't have others to compare with,...
I like to place cards soaked in some strong feminine fragrance like Armani Si in the bathroom, and sometimes in the bedroom.
Its on my short list. I have loved it for quite some time. Don't worry too much about the boozy reference its not the most memorable aspect if it is there at all.
I wanted to 'like' this post but could'nt.
Have a good year all, from Aventus with compliments.
Korres: Safron, Amber, Cardamon.
Accord oud and Sunday cologne are my favourites, and I would own them if only ............$$$?
Lomani pour Homme $7, this week in fact.
It is so subtle I could not say I can detect any particular facet of this with any clarity. I also liked it more at the counters than after, but it has its place for its inoffensiveness and slightly...
Creed Vetiver. It was the first wearing; it felt like home. Greetings to all.
I didn't inquire about the prices Renato. I'm sure its the full retail kachung!, kachung!; should be on the web site I'd say. Those vouchers are looking good.
Like the OP I'm also new to this scent. But I liked it on first try. I'm sampling it lately, and get the variations between the fruit and the smoke. I love the way it plays with your mind a little....
As promised by one of the SAs a while back, the Creeds have finally arrived at the CBD DJs store. I was only passing through but there were a number of them available, quickly doused myself in...
I concur completely with your thoughts on APLS. Keep up the good work.
I have it, but admit it is no great shakes. It reminds me a little of my old Zegna Essenza, not the new one; sort of grassy and pleasant. Its a good after the shower sort of thing. But I don't...
Φιλόσυκος is the only one I know of the two, but I think it would be very hard to beat for reasons already given.
I also like your list and am always meaning to buy a bottle of L'Humaniste. It can't escape me for much longer.
^^ Yes, 'Fat electrician' cracks me up also. I dread to think what the bottle looks like. The Buddhist monk probably doesn't smell all that bad, incense and all that.
I found the almost identical labels confusing and gave up analysing. I think it was SF pour Homme that I favoured in transit on recent jaunt, a quiet lemony but grounded scent, reminded me a little...
Clearly picking up bargains has a lot to do with palce and time but also really knowng the merchandise well enough to know something is a good pick. It is the latter that I'm lacking but inspired by...
I have to admit that decibel wasn't all that bad at forty bucks. You will understand why I had not previously approached anything that looked like it (microphone). I'll try it again the other side of...
Renato, you just might bump into me at Priceline CBD tomorrow
I'm still in the process of fully identifying the saffron note but it is a main listed ingredient in Korres 'Saffron Amber and Cardamon', which I recommend. If it is in CdG 2 Man which I also like...
Enjoy Tim. We've had them here (Melbourne) on open shelves for quite some time. The Cedre Olympic has been discontinued as far as I've been informed; a great shame indeed.
I have also just come back from three month jaunt, Europe and SE Asia and can vouch for your experiences Renato. It was great to visit the famous Perfumerias in Barcelona and Madrid with a modicum of...
It has crossed my mind and I'm glad it did. I gave up smoking, this habit is not going anywhere.
This is indeed a fun part of perfume browsing at the counters. I tend to say it as it is written so that in light of the titles listed by the OP we have a kind of Anglo/French thing happening. It...
O heck! And I thought the current Anateus (the only one I know) was goooood.
I love Fille, but I never associated it with Christmas. Is that a northern hemisphere thing? Sniffed Wazamba too long ago to comment.
I've already forgotten what the "new" site looked like; a mere blink in what will hopefully be a long BN life line,
I was just checking out this online store <hotcosmetics.com.au>. Anyone done any business there?
+1 Etro Sandalo.
Bal d'Afrique .... mmmm, yeah, sort of alright.
TdH - but I wouldn't have thought that it had greater longevity than Voyage, unless I am mistakenly comparing Edt with Parfum.
Eau de campagne, Sisely.
deadidol has my take on Pomegranate Noir, which is but for some small considerations a hell of a frgrance, not shy by any means and definitely interesting.
I'm sure I've come across the 'women' that Renato is referring to, a little overdone, a little down market also perhaps. As I develop my sensory vocabulary however, none of that offends me anymore....
Judging from the diverse range of fragrances that I like, I could'nt say that taste was age specific, in my case at least. Nor do I take particular note of BNs of a specific age group.
It probably doesn't have any of the notes you are looking for, but your request conjured up Itasca by Lubin for me.
I have no trouble with it. Love it in food and Pernod. I don't know which fragrances have it in any significant amount but if Azzaro is one then I love it in fragrance as well. This is the only other...
It has some very good qualities, and I do like smelling it on others, but I have decided the lemon in L'Humaniste pleases me most.
An interesting thread and a great post Akahina. I don't know about the study but the topic has come up at home. It is one of my anosmic wife's put downs to accuse me of being influenced by "all those...
My favourites are Fille en Aiguiles, Ensece Flamboyant, Bois D' insense and Jubilation XXV.
Oh, and Pomegranate Noir.
The only thing that kept me sane during my last long haul was what the hostesses were wearing. It was sweet, warmish and preferable to the smells of a crowded confined space. Something from Chanel or...
+ 3 (I think) Byredo Accord Oud.
Yes, it was Mecca, at Myres Melbourne. I don't think Profonde was the weakest, on the contrary, I thought it was the deepest. My comparisson with 34 Rue St G. was not quite right, it was more an Eau...
I stumbled on to these eaux last week; Eau Moderne, Monumentale and Profonde. I put the three strips into my breast pocket and forgot about them till a couple of hours later, kept getting these...
A dependable, classy workhorse. Yes, there is a difference between the EdT and Pure parfum but that is another story.
We could do with some wildflowers, hoşgeldiniz.

Yes, Hedonist, I have taken the sprayer off, but then what? I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'decapitate'. Is it like cutting the neck of a champagne bottle with a knife as seen in the movies?
My mother has a near full 200ml No 5 with a sprayer that doesn't work very well, some feeble droplets only. I was thinking of using the syringe method of relocating the juice but now I'm thinking...
You 'do well Tim', to visit Peony from Canberra. I'm here and I keep putting it off. I must visit soon. Thanks for sharing the experience.

I respect Colonia but voted for Assoluta. I'm also glad the Essenza has followers as I have a soft spot for it also. The after shave balm is good but I won't be renewing the deo stick. After the...
I'll never know, because I'd not be seen anywhere near a bottle like that, not moi!
If I forget to spary something on either day or night it is because I've been temporarily distracted, disoriented; something is wrong with the world!
Thanks Maque, much as I suspected. But then again I thought hot climate and everything. Luckily I will also be in Madrid, and I believe I can find Heely among other delicacies at Nadia's perfumeriea....
+3 Lubin, Idole and +3 Frapin 1270.
Well said. From another newby.
+1 Trefle Pur, which I'm wearing as I type. I think it navigates your criteria rather well, without being an overt citrus. Maybe also Eau Sauvage edp.
It's been a while since I tried them, but some of the Declaration flankers had a sweet, fruity, champagny side to them, as far as I can remember.
I like that smell. They were laying tar on our street recently it was all I could do to refrain from prostrating myself and glueing my nose to the gooey tarmac! Good question.
I'm looking forward to visiting my favourite Singapore fragrance haunts later this year. I wonder if I'll be lucky enough to bump into any Heely?
I have sampled it a few times and loved it. If only money were no object.
+1 ADP Colonia
I remember it being clean rather than greazy, like a light breeze through the palm trees.
+1 Etro Sandalo, I can't remember if it has incese but it certainly comes to mind at the suggestion.
If you don't mind some tobcco in there then go for AR, it's stellar.

^^ I'll have what he's wearing:)
Oranger d'Alhambra Armani Prive. It has the orange blossom and bergamote. It's a little quiet but very beautiful. I was doused in it today as a matter of fact.
