Dior is an incredible house and I was expecting to see it here. Even better is that it's there twice.

Dior is an incredible house and I was expecting to see it here. Even better is that it's there twice.
No one on basenotes knows?
Eau Fraiche sounded great to me but I tried it and found it boring and a little synthetic.
The stores have it in a body spray plastic bottle spritzer form and in a perfume atomizer form. Online it seems to be just the perfume in a small eyedropper.
I've seen mention that the body sprays smell pretty much the same as the parfums. They are $65 for 5oz. I'm wondering what the differences are. They cost significantly less than the parfums, so do...
I've had great experiences with Fragrancenet. Wait for a coupon and they'll likely have the lowest prices of all. They also seem to have the biggest stock of all the sites being mentioned in the...
Tobacco Vanille is incredible. More of a cool weather scent.
Wait yes, that's what I meant. The perfume.
God it smells good. It isn't soapy or barbershop, but it smells like such a great beach resort clean.
Just bought this as the perfume (not the body spray) because it works so well in humid heat. Smells very clean. It has an herbal dry down that reminds me of Cartier Roadster. Sort of like you went to...
The 2008 version isn't hard to find as far as I can tell.
It's hot and humid as hell here in FL. I know some of you will claim there's no such thing as a scent that fares better or is more bearable under certain weather, but that's dead wrong. I can't...
I see people call certain scents synthetic-smelling frequently, but not often natural. What are some well known or some of your well liked men's naturals, and what are some synthetic examples? Is...
And my answer is Dior Homme. Not sure why people are picking it's Intense flanker since that's a derivative of DH and doesn't do anything game-changing compared to DH.
I really have trouble agreeing with people who say a reformulation is worse for any reason besides the consensus agreeing its longevity, sillage, etc. have been weakened. A shift in notes is...
It's the fragrance you want associated with you, enjoy having associated with you, and enjoy wearing in a regular fashion to support its association with you.
I know a lot of people appreciate a scent maintaining it's unique character, but sometimes, whether by need or choice, it gets reformulated.
Anyone here just plan like buying their signature...
I think so long as you aren't outdoors in warmth for most of your day, this one is indeed a modern designer masterpiece. For all-purpose, though, I'd go with Terre d'Hermes.
Unless the reformulation effect is obvious to me without doing a side by side comparison, I won't resist a reformulated scent purchase.
That said, I think they shouldn't happen. It reminds me of...
I've just changed my mind on this one. I didn't care for it much the first four or five wears. It didn't hit me as earthy-orange, but rather floral-orange. Now it smells like orange slices in...
It's subjective, but all the brands named here are hall of famers.
I get too much herb from it, but it isn't bad. Just not for me.
I, too, have heard Sarah Jessica Parker was pretty involved in the actual development of her scents. I believe she mentioned trying to understand scent development when the creative process was...
It is believed by some that it can lead to cancer or other poison illnesses in some people over extended use. That is why some people insist on avoiding the ingredient in exchange for more natural...
I don't get people who just shower in the morning either. Dirty in bed is only for special occasions .
Certain DRI specifically says it doesn't matter if you shower the next morning...
I use Certain DRI roll-on (the solid is scented), which works great for me. I have used Ban Unscented as well, which worked nice too.
Of the ones I have tried, this one is the best.
Friday is my favorite day of the week (for silly reasons since I don't have anyone to hang out with as a bit of an unintentionally solitary guy). All my favorite shows air on Thurdays (except Mad Men...
I most certainly agree with Tobacco Vanille
TF Tobacco Vanille.
Makes me think of this
I take days off. It builds up my appetite.
OP is like a juicy romance novel for basenoters. Thanks for sharing and congrats on a great find.
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
I love the smell and even the themes that they claim inspired and influenced it. It has a great, old, natural, masculine charm and doesn't smell perfume heavy to a...
To me, TV smells pretty edible. The tobacco gives it masculinity, but I get more of a vanilla and cocoa vibe from it. Fantastic scent.
Same, but I am enjoying reading along.
This is true. I am in college and I hate it simply because of who I see wearing it. People with Abercrombie "Vintage" t-shirts and Beats by Dr. Dre headphones on while they sit in class.
The same thing happens in many fragrance and fashion houses. Most sunglasses come out of two big companies (Luxottica - who makes Ray Ban, Oliver Peoples, Persol, and Oakley in house, with licensed...
I love Tobacco Vanille. Haven't tried the other two you mentioned yet.
What would Don Draper do?
Err... What exactly is a Brown Problem? I hope it isn't as icky as it sounds...
I like thinking about that too. What recent scents are such sure winners?
I haven't smelled Puredistance M yet, but I was curious if anyone thought it would have lasting praise.
I suppose I am asking for the 'discovered' masterpieces. It really is hard to say whether something is a masterpiece if no one cares to build an appreciation for it.
Mona Lisa would perhaps just...
I am aware that fragrances get reformulated, and many who loved the originals are not as fond of the reformulations, but I don't think that should stop people from answering in any way. So maybe...
So you would nominate them... to see them get shot down for being overrated? Is that what you mean? :cheesy:
Well, I was thinking along the lines of ones that deserve to be recognized.
I did a search and find more or less favorites threads. Sorry if this doesn't belong.
I am curious about which scents you would consider the greatest masterpieces of fragrances and fragrance...
Yes. My collection is small for the exact reason that I want to get back to them often.
I haven't pulled the trigger on any huge bottles yet, but I am starting to love the look of Tom Ford decanter 8.4 oz bottles... Is it a mistake? I realize that if I make myself a collection of a few...
Okay, so it is basically something to just check with the retailer on. I'd rather not purchase one without it. Thanks guys.
I have a 1930s British exploring couple in Italy and northern African deserts associated with Tobacco Vanille, thanks to The English Patient. Mint notes for NYC in summer.
I like it when it...
So you mean the decanter box actually had the atomizer packaged in as well?
I actually just read about the vintage gold lighter that Tom Ford carries being the inspiration for that travel sized atomizer, then I connected the dots with the black one and found the current...
Thanks for the info guys. I kind of want to buy a decanter of TV, largely just because I like the apothecary-style bottle way more than the chess piece (well, plus I looove the scent), but I'd want a...
Sorry to revive this, but does anyone know about the two Tom Ford atomizers available? I have seen a black one and a gold one. I was just curious if either are still available, where you can obtain...
Tom Ford himself likes the scents when layered. I believe he stated once that when he wears the Private Blends, it is usually a combination of a couple.
I basically just get Vanilla with all the other notes in the background causing it to be a masculine Vanilla. My favorite scent at the moment, to be honest. It is incredibly smooth.
Hermes Terre d'Hermes
Tell me this has nothing to do with the show...
There is indeed an official sample bottle available sometimes.
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. I wore it fairly recently while watching The English Patient and now am stuck with that scent association of European tourists in the desert camps during the 1930s and the...
Wasn't a fan. They all smelled like various laundry/soap/cleaning fragrances to me. Not worth buying IMO, but try them and see for yourself.
I don't, but I've learned this from a few girls over the years who would pull out their perfumes in class. They all suggest it for longer lasting scent.
My teacher (who I didn't respect due to his dorky and off-putting ways of dealing with students) in high school used to rotate through the line. I just don't associate it with anything good, but I...
I am curious about some well-established English niche houses. Can anyone name some?
Would you guys say that boozy scents have a better time of year to be worn and a better time of day? When do you go for them?
Lot's of people might say Hermes Terre D'Hermes would be a good year-round.
This is a thread on a similar question
I am in college and have classes, so I usually just do two since I sit less than a foot away from people in these lecture seats.
I have a bad habit of taking long breaks away from the gym, but when I do go, I think there is pretty much just residual scent from the morning on, not a specific workout scent.
3-10 seems pretty average. There is nothing wrong with having as many as you want, though
I like two of those, being the bottom two. I think they are all worth smelling just to know. Hope you like them.
Happy New Year!
Yet again, I can count on someone here to get me some information I never wanted...
Don't stress over it. My interpretation is that both are great. One is just missed and perhaps due to being the first, is better to those familiar with it.
Maybe a Burberry?
Those should be nice!
Rest in peace and farewell.
Have a nice time!
I've settled with signature rotation, about 3 day scents, and 3 event/night scents. I usually get stuck for several days on one of the day scents and then take a break with the others and get stuck...
I think the spray-on-clothes suggestion is good.
And to the OP, perhaps you shouldn't have been so detailed as to specify your scent as the bottom of a rabbits cage. I find it to be, quite...
Tried green and white. White was like shampoo smells. Green was like conditioner smells. Not worth buying. Not very special.
EDIT: Just learned how to do the shirt fold from the commercial! I feel...
I was smiling the whole time I read through those descriptions for the notes. "A bath in the water". :D
Look into a YSL scent. There are a few amazing ones. Rive Gauche is widely liked, Live Jazz is liked too. Just see if you can find a few next time you go sample.
Overcoat is better! Go with that!
If you don't specifically soap up where you spray, it can linger and smells great.
Tobacco Vanille and a peacoat for the cold weather.
You can't get Perfumed Court samples?
Similar opinion to this ^. Companies who make specific summer scents often use citrus or mint so it is just a common association. Spices, like cinnamon, have an automatic winter vibe sometimes.
Anyone except for acquaintances that I wouldn't want to have the same answer as me if we were asked what fragrances we were wearing. Total strangers, close friends, or family can ask, no problem.
This and Dior Homme bottles are my choice for most beautiful.
Looks like a plastic shampoo bottle, but I'm sure the line deserves a chance.
Errr... I guess I would someday like an 8.4oz Tom Ford Private Blend lineup on my shelf. But those would probably be the limit and they are big.
I always imagined that scent was not so big there. Since in the real world the world has gone to sh** and in The Matrix, it is implied that the main characters experience it like a program of sorts,...
Not all scents get me in a spa state of relaxation. Many smell a certain way, but relaxing may not be it.
Guerlain is pretty much THE house when it comes to classic perfume house icons. They have a place in the Hall of Fame with so many hits.
