Re: Areej le Doré : The Official Discussion Thread

My thoughts mirror yours exactly. The powdery musk is so strong on me that I'm really unable to smell much of anything else aside from a slight hint of smokiness from the fossilized amber.

Re: Areej le Doré : The Official Discussion Thread

Interesting, I didn't catch the faintest hint of rose from this one. Amazing how differently fragrances are interpreted! Goes to show you...you really have to formulate your own opinion when it comes...

Re: Areej le Doré : The Official Discussion Thread

It looks like all of the products on the Areej le Dore website are on-hold...I'm assuming to fulfill backorders at LuckyScent and count inventory after. With the whole lot of new releases approaching...

Re: Areej le Doré : The Official Discussion Thread

Maybe it's just me but I do not read this one as dark or rugged aside form the leathery-woody undertones of the fossilized amber which break through the powdery wall of orris and deer musk...

Re: Areej le Doré : The Official Discussion Thread

No worries at all just part of the blind buy game you play. It's a really nice fragrance, just not for me. Top shelf materials are used as always but the last two in War & Peace and Ottoman Empire II...

Re: Areej le Doré : The Official Discussion Thread

I scrubbed War & Peace about an hour ago; the beast was far too powdery for me. After washing it off there's that fuzzy deer musk that's just stuck on to my skin...reminds me of Russian Musk after...

I feel like I've been looking for something similar as of late...I did find a DSH Perfume named Pomander...but never pulled the trigger on it and I haven't really found anything that fits the bill...

Re: Areej le Doré : The Official Discussion Thread

Both are mine, I posted on eBay to get a photo for the sale board board here (easiest way from my phone.) This one is an instant no for me. It's not that it's bad in any way at all...it's just WAY...
  96. Re: Frankincense / smokey / peppery scent that is mordern?

UNUM LAVS or Armani Bois d'Encens are both at the top of the chain. Additionally, as others have suggested, Comme des Garcons BLACK fits the bill for this IF and ONLY if you don't mind black licorice...

Re: Areej le Doré : The Official Discussion Thread

When I think War & Peace, I don't think of massive dosages of femme-leaning powdery orris...which is what is currently dominating the opening of this one. As the orris wears off wisps of deer musk...
