Rive Gauche, 2.5 or 4.2oz? Interested!
Is there no love for Dzing! anymore? This is my favorite vanilla based scent. It is more prominent in the base of course.
I am in agreement with hedonist about Patchouli 24 as well. A fantastic...
3. Habit Rouge EdC
4. Jicky EdP
5. Vetiver pour Elle
These. I'm not familiar with L'Instant pH, I do need to smell it.
Today it's Ambre Sultan. It's been too long, old friend!
Sampling Jeaux de Peau. I like this one; only if I'm hungry though.
I see what you're saying, I think this can be attributed to the rose in the amber accord. I happen to love it.
So, OP, do you like rose in compositions?
Finally getting cooler here in Charleston.
I used to have a sample of this and gave it away in a swap. It reminds me more of a woody-chypre than a vetiver centered accord. Soft, a little mossy. The vetiver definitely plays backup singer.
Oud Cuir D'Arabie, Eau Noire (decant), and Timbuktu come to mind.
My Top 5:
Iris Silver Mist
Bois de Violette
Least fave 5:
I would bask in your sillage!
Today I'm wearing Cruel Intentions - By Kilian from a sample that the most generous rubegon gave me in our swap. Just masculine enough, although I'm awaiting...
Any of the Eau line (du Coq, Imperial, etc) from Guerlain.
For sure, they are different. But there was a distinct similarity... I'll have to do a side by side.
My roommate came downstairs the other night and I smelled something totally familiar; the top/heart notes of Jo Malone's LBM. I asked if he swiped my bottle (which he is known to do) and he said "Oh...
He actually went there. :-)
Kidding, I love it there, and also love the fragrance.
I have sampled it and it is very nice, a bit powdery on the rose for my taste (and masculinity), but would be a great feminine scent.
All my bottles are kept at room temperature in a dark cabinet and come with original boxes and caps. I can supply pictures on request.
Shipping included. I accept PayPal, buyer is responsible for...
I have heard of reformulations from LT I believe...
I've only had one bottle of Ambre Sultan, so I can't comment on the variation, but I do hope it hasn't been reformulated; it was my first true love in niche and a blind buy at that! Could we say...
All of these. From Creed I've had great projection from GIT and SMW with good longevity.
You might want to check out the fougere genre as a whole, it usually is perceived as "fresh". I really...
Going to the softer side. Recently purchased some samples from Le Labo (Oud 27, Patchouli 24, and Iris 39).
This starts off with a fantastic...
Bath and Body Works' Cucumber Melon... just kidding
I enjoy Premier Figuier for its grassy opening, but your MJ is in the same vein. A lot of people here prefer Phylosykos over the PF, both are...
You're right on the medical and culinary industries, but more recently I've heard about fragrance bans in public places where anyone is involved in customer service; this could go many directions to...
It is a brick and mortar... sorry!
Speaking of TL, which I love, there is an Estee Lauder based outlet store here (Cosmetic Discount? something generic) that has a 100mL spray going for ~$215. I think that is a pretty good discount,...
I just laughed out loud. I love the French!
But seriously, I do enjoy BG, but prefer the Fire Island vibe a little more. I have my Premier Figuier for my coconut fix.
It isn't received well. This is why, I think, many places of work have banned use of personal fragrance. All you over-appliers out there, you're giving us a bad reputation!
It reaches summer temps here in SC the majority of the year, so I have recently been acquiring juice more attuned to the weather.
This summer my key players will be:
Colonia Assoluta- AdP
Habit Rouge EdC
Berg's? Bell Jars or in the export bottles?
Is this available on Luckyscent, AdV, or PC for sampling?
Unfortunately haven't tried this one, it is on my list though.
The key detail here is that it's a fashion event, so it is going to be vivacious, filled with alcohol, and most likely inferior scents of others. Basically the equivalent of a "classy" club, so a...
Haha! Seriously though, 15 sprays?
Grey Flannel. I forget how refreshing this one can be in temperate weather.
First off, sorry for those who hate these "what to wear" posts.
We're wrapping up Charleston Fashion Week on Saturday, and I am going to the finale after party. Everyone will be dressed to the...
Definitely Rive Gauche PH since I bought it at Perfumania for $25 for the 100mL. It's a Swiss Army Knife in my 'drobe! All the women love it, and my guy friends always ask what it is.
It probably has something to do with Turin/Sanchez's bashing of it. While I do think it has a harsh, bitter quality, I find it appealing in certain situations, and I have gotten a lot of compliments...
Maybe Bvlgari - Pour Homme or L'Artisan The Por un Ete? The latter is light but very fresh.
Sisley - Eau de Campagne
It was my summer work horse at the time, I only had 2 other frags (I think it was Burberry Touch and Jo Malone LBM). I loved it so much and found a great price on a 120...
Sorry for the side note, but you guys are killing me today with the acronyms, I'm well versed here but c'mon and throw me an apostrophe or change the caps! Guess I'm gettin' rusty!
(It took me...
I agree, the whole house of Dyptique is worth exploring.
Hermes - Poivre Samarcande , Paprika Brasil, Vetiver Tonka (All these are really light, but heat helps sillage)
L'Artisan - Dzongkha, Coeur de Vetiver Sacre (on the sweeter side)
I'm recommending that one since I think it is similar but less heavy in the base (more transparent) than the L'Air and has a wonderful sour vetiver note that puts it in front of Dzongkha...
Agreed. I voted for 2, LN and Reflection
Rive Gauche Pour Homme
Serge Lutens - L'Eau from a sample
Eau de Cologne Imperiale
Caron - Pour un Homme
Lubin - Idole Edp
Oud Cuir D'Arabie
I still haven't tried this; I was underwhelmed by the Eau series and the negative feedback put this one on the back burner. I usually am in total agreement with your taste, so I will have to get...
Dior - Leather Oud My second fave to Oud Cuir D'Arabie, although more approachable as well
Tom Ford - Tuscan Leather Similar to Knize Ten, less ambery. Sex.
L'Artisan - Tea for Two We all know this...
Which I consider a blessing. A wonderful incense and cedar oriental.
Yes, for frequent reapplications! ;-)
In Heeley - Cuir Pleine Fleur. Thanks HackerX for making a decant. This is great smelling stuff, very discreet. Not a huge, tarry leather, more like a suede; almost similar to the note in Daim Blond.
Do you like piña colada?
AdP - Colonia Assoluta
I get good longevity from this, more so if it gets on clothing. I typically wear this in the spring/summer because I think it needs heat to stretch it's legs. It projects well with nice sillage in...
Bought last Friday, received in the mail yesterday: Andy Tauer - L'Air du Desert Marocain. I've been waiting to pull the trigger on this one for a long time; so happy I did. Thanks @SoGent!
Habit Rouge EdC. This satisfies my desire for the skanky Guerlain opening, but settles quietly and is totally office friendly. Haven't gotten compliments yet, and this and YSL RG are my workhorses.
What should we start the bid at?
Anything synthetic, aquatic, or disgusting... Oh wait, enough said
Yes, I agree. Maybe classic "post 90's best sellers and flankers" defines it more clearly.
Go sniff some chairs! Funny, I have a problem detecting leather (or suede) in Daim Blond and Vintage Tabarome. I find the suede note in the SL to be more of a background; either way I love the...
I have owned this, and I find the longevity to be strong, at least 8 hours.
Yes, hilarious. Too bad I'm gay...
I am definitely informally repping L'A, but they also sell Acqua di Parma, Diptyque, Chanel (mainstream), and Tocca (which is a huge line that didn't wow me). I will certainly be recommending any...
@RHM: No, 1 down, 2 (actually just one sells L'Artisan) to go. I didn't want to disclose, since I am not actually employed there.
@furrypine: Since it is a cosmetics store, most of my clients...
Haha I know right! One of my friends was asking why I would do this when I worked during the week; I replied "because it isn't work, I love fragrance and sharing it with others". Clearly I'm in the...
I can only get testers; I got some Molton Brown body wash (black pepper, my fave), Kiehl's moisturizer and face wash. It is what I needed. Next shift, I'll probably opt for some Dzonghka, Passage...
So, I regularly visit a boutique here in Charleston that sells probably the best selection of designer and niche fragrances around. While talking with the SA, I realized she was totally unfamiliar...
I actually get the lipstick vibe too, but not in an iris/makeup bag accord most people associate, more in a waxy, almost edible way. It is a nice scent, but not for me.
Now we have:
Biton (Bond No. 9)
Blue Mercury (L'Artisan, Acqua di Parma, Chanel (mainstream))
Lily (Lubin, limited selection, Gin Fizz, Idole EdP, and some other feminine recent release)
I agree with petruccijc. I have been known to spritz Ambre Sultan lightly on a summer evening out as well. By the way, you're missing out on your Timbuktu in warmer weather; it really blooms!
Gonna go out on a limb here, Back to Black
So went in on Saturday and bought a bottle, trusting Olivia and the reviews here. Disclaimer, I have never smelled the edt, so I can't make any comparisons unfortunately.
It starts off with the...
Guerlain - Habit Rouge EdC
Waiting on the flames from that one ^
I vote Eau de Guerlain for its lasting power.
YSL - Rive Gauche ph
Scent twins with jss
Acqua di Parma - Colonia Assoluta
A boutique that carries 2 Lubin fragrances for women actually got Idole EdP in today! I mentioned it to the owner a few months ago and she actually ordered it. I'm thrilled that Charleston is...
What a fabulous, revealing, and interesting read. Great article MB! It is nice to hear TW's dedication to uphold the old formulas and minimize change.
It is a great fragrance, fresh but strong, tons of sillage and lasting power. I had a sample I used for formal occasions, I like it dressed up.
Histories de Parfums - Noir Patchouli
Haha @ slvrbkgorilla
Really? Is this even a question?
Eau de Campagne, total
Rive Gauche ph in the past 2 years
Anyone try these yet?
Haters they gonna hate.. I'll wait until I smell it. I read a review http://www.cafleurebon.com/new-fragrance-review-l%E2%80%99artisan-parfumeur-batucada-scents-of-brazil-draw/ (I think from...
You have most of my favorites in your wardrobe, so I have excluded any that I own (but should probably add to my wish list).
A Taste of Heaven
L'air du Desert...
Guerlain Shalimar and Mitsouko
Bond no. 9 Fire Island
FM L'eau D'Hiver and Lys Mediterranee
SL Douce Amere
Hermes Ambre Narguille
Agreed, but not white-musky clean. It is a richer musk, which unfortunately I am not a fan of. It is like Khiel's Musk with testicles.
