The limited edition was, I think, only released as a 30ml.
To me, it is slightly richer, with a little ginger in the mix.

Yes,it's quite wonderful, warmer and deeper is a good way of summing up the differences. I've wanted to try the L'Instant d'un Eté pour Homme version, too, but never got around to it.
As mentioned, for me 8-10 hrs in EDT formulation,I find it's quite subtle, after an hour or so,a 'forget it's there until I catch a glimpse' one for me. The EDP has longevity that is best measured in...
Wonderful stuff :D
I'd guess at it being EDT,from your description of the leather and "unburned incense".
Creed's Royal English Leather and Cuir De Russe.
Guerlain Mitsouko EDT. Very nice on a warmish, sunny day.
Guerlain - Vetiver EDT.
Guerlain - Habit Rouge EDT. Lovely on a cool, crisp day.
I've used them in the past,no problems here.
I've purchased Rive Gauche,L'instant and Mitsouko. All of these were purchased over 18 months ago, though.
I had the aftershave lotion,in the glass bottle, foolishly I sold it. I am going to buy it again as it is fantastic,I recall the star anise being very prominent. It had a very potent "animalistic"...
I've never tried the EDC,alas. It's one I've always been interested in,you've found a gem by the sounds of it. I'm looking forward to how it compares with the two EDT creations, the salty part,in...
Alan Partridge - Old Spice
That's his cologne, seldom worn,I think. He's more of a Lynx (Axe) man, specifically Voodoo or Java.
Chanel PM (not concentree,though,regular)
In a very early episode, the group debated what cologne Eddie would wear,I think, from memory, the consensus was Grey Flannel.
Derby - Guerlain - vintage formulation
Guerlain's Hertitage EDT
Cerruti's Fair Play.
If only I'd appreciated it then as much as I do now.............
Cerruti's Fair Play, when it can be found, goes for big money.
I own the EDT. I have no complaints regarding the hours and development it gives me. The base of spice and woods can last all day, from a couple of sprays. Maybe I got lucky with my bottle? I've been...
Trumper's Skye,from a kindly sent sample :D
A first ever encounter with this,I'm enjoying it,so far. I get a strong violet note,over a citrus/neroli sharpness,which is very pleasant.
Officially purchased on the last day of August,so it can go here :D
A bottle of A*men. I wanted a winter Gourmand, for when I'm out walking our dog over moors and hills. I'm delighted by this. It...
Habit Rouge Légère
The only one that I've compared in a while is Cerruti PH EDT. I have many 1996 bottles,I recently bought a new, reformulated (in my view :D) bottle. I tried the vintage and new.side by side. The new...
Morning/afternoon: Rive Gauche PH
Evening: A*men (from a sample,I'm attempting to choose a gourmand for the encroaching winter, this is winning,so far)
I think it's fantastic. I'd put it up there with CDG2 in terms of depth and richness. It keeps the sharp opening of the EDT then takes a really heavy cocoa/tonka turn that is sweet and scrumptious....
Good man :)
You will not regret it. A 75ML bottle lasts for quite some time, too, due to the strength of it. I'd put it up there with Aoud Lime as being one of my most long lasting creations.
Escentual,in England,carry it.
I have a fully capped version. Better than the EDT? Yes,its magnificent.
Richer,fuller with,for me,a deep cocoa/tonka base that is great.
What a good read. Very enjoyable and certainly given me a few ideas.
I hadn't thought of that,a good detail.
I intend to try it again, soon.
Lucky man :D I'd love to find some of his stuff in the ones near me.
Fragrance wise my nearest 3 are hit and miss. They have some gems but normally it's run of the mill. My nearest gets many of...
Final thoughts for the evening,4 or so hours after applying. It hasn't developed much more from earlier, not a bad thing though as the Vetiver in the base has emerged not too strongly, just right for...
Around the 40 or so minute mark, now. I'm becoming a little confused:it appears to have stopped developing, sort of stalled,on a spicy/green note. It's still sharp and fresh, though, with the slightest...
Three Sprays to wrist (right :)) 5 or so minutes ago.
The opening is lime, lime and more lime;very fresh and sharp. I don't get much mint. The rhubarb is there along with a heady,boozy/alcohol note...
I've arrived home to a sealed 50ml EDT tester (in full Guerlain packaging,as a bonus). I've never set nose on this before. I'm going to give it a try, soon. Thoughts to follow.
Guerlain Homme 50ml EDT.
Should be with me in a few days.
I wore 6 sprays of Attar (boosted with extra Aoud) today,I'd not worn it for a long, long time. What you say about settling after an hour is very true. I was a little worried about having overdone...
I think it's still very good. It lacks the "oomph" of the older one,in terms of strength,I find.
I wear and enjoy the "new" one,all the same.
Sadly, thats very true. The original remains my all-time favourite (the search for which brought me to Basenotes in the first place :)).
I have a few of the "new" ones and a hoard of the older...
A 50ml EDT Coriolan,at a very good price, from America.
I noted some more thoughts on the two,at 10pm last night, more than 12 hours after application. Both were still going strong, still noticeable and projecting. The older was more pronounced,at this...
Update at 13.30 BST.
The older juice is developing in to a more "herbal",green and "earthy" entity. The Vetiver is coming through, more and more as is a strong spice note. I think it is at it's...
In the blue corner (Left arm): Eau De Toilette,1999 (yellow coloured juice). Two sprays applied at 08.45 BST
In the red corner (Right arm): Eau De Toilette, 2005 (green coloured juice). Two sprays...
I'm in. Obviously :) :)
This should be very interesting
That looks like the new packaging,to me.
I'd say it's good,based on one I saw in similar packaging,last year.
Creed - Royal English Leather
A colleague was very taken with it,she asked me about it,she couldn't believe that it was first created all those years ago.
Have you ever thought of trying out any Guerlains,I hear they're very good? :D
A great collection. The old and the new, together. They look great.
Thank you. I'm much happier now it's been straightened :)
I'm working on a Creed picture,at the moment, tricky due to the "no advertising" ethos.
I'm wearing,and loving as always,Mitsouko right now :)
I agree with your thoughts on how men have changed regarding their interest in their appearance. In England there has been a gradual...
Avignon for me. It evokes a feeling of sadness, when I wear it,but a "good" sadness:the reverence and ritual of the mass. I guess that's the idea,it really works.
On a more "personal" note,I can be...
Aoud Lime is fantastic,my favourite.
Attar is very good, too. The longevity of both is terrific.
For something a bit different,Montale wise,White Musk is excellent,too.
I smell like Arnie
"...I'll be back!! (to apply more Guerlain Vetiver I adore the tobacco note, you know......)...."
A charming description.
It has,I think, got quite a large Basenotes "following".
It is,has been for some time, one of my favourites. Lots of Ambergis and an almost "cherry" note mark it out as special, for me anyway.
I bought the Legere, last year. It has quickly become a favourite, for me. The "zing" in the topnotes is a nice, sharp and citrusy zing,it's excellent. Less vanilla/leather/animalistic than the EDT,I...
Live Jazz is excellent. I regret parting with mine. I may buy another bottle for "summer" :) The mint in the opening is very pleasing, similar to Selection Verte in the "cooling" effect. I also...
This is an outstandingly good thread. Kudos to all involved, the depth of knowledge and discussion is very interesting.
Thanks to all involved :D
In the first Highlander film, there is a sword fight in an underground car park. The fight is long lasting, intense yet ends on a positive note. Nino Cerruti Pour Homme would win this fight.
Another vote for Body Kouros, here :D
I thoroughly enjoyed it,for a few months, then,I could not wear it.
The main reason being that I once, half asleep in the morning, applied about 7-8 sprays....
My Guerlain's accompanied by a picture:
Edit: I've never noticed how "off-centre" that picture is,until now,it's not noticeable to the naked eye. Consider it corrected :)
I own Lime Aoud and Attar,my Attar has "extra aoud" that I had added at the Montale store (maybe ask if they can do this with your order). I have owned 3 more aouds.
My personal choice as...
There was one on e-bay,just prior to last Christmas.
The seller would not ship to the UK,alas.
To me,the 4th Earl of Sandwich would epitomise Libertinism:the debauched and decadent London of the "fast set and bright young things".
A person who is unrestrained by convention or morality. He...
Yesterday,a work acquaintance, she was wearing Chanel no5,I actually thought it was Jicky, prior to asking her . She was also at pains to point out that it was the edt as the edp "......is...
I was fortunate to snare a bottle last year. My existing bottle was getting worryingly low. Boozy, leathery, spicy yet, somehow "creamy",too. Outstanding stuff.
I also own the aftershave version of...
EDT for me. Excellent development, feels very "comfortable",for me.
I have not tried the vintage, due to lack of opportunity. I would like to,but I'll settle for the modern version, which works very well for me.
Excellent stuff. The part I've highlighted encapsulates what most members of this community feel,I think. Isn't it great :)
Yes,very much so.
During the working week,I wear dark suits or coats. I could not imagine wearing something "light" with these,I associate "darker" creations with my working gear:Royal English...
Probably a mix of all three :D
Fetsih: "an object regarded with awe as being the embodiment or habitation of a potent spirit or as having magical potency" This describes how I feel about Vintage...
No cinnamon for me,which is a shame as I love it as a note. It may well be in there, but not,to me anyway,as prominent as Cacharel PH (or Amor),for example. I'ts quite hard to fully describe MDM,I...
Royal English Leather for me,too. As ever,no compliments or comments from our friends or my other half (if she did compliment me I would be wary as it would likely preface another home improvement...
Happy new year to all :)
I,too,get a good helping of civet,from MDM.
For me,it;s comparable in civet volume to Jicky EDT:just right, not too powerful, satisfyingly there in the mix. Blended just...
Possibly because I'm odd :D,I keep a spreadsheet of what I wear. With a couple of days left the top 4,in terms of times worn over the year, are:
Guerlain Vetiver (2000 variation) - 26
Is the new MDM box you saw a plain gold box with black text?
Further to my previous post, did it...
Comme Des Garcons - Avignon
(I voted for L'instant, though,as Avignon is not in the poll)
The regular EDT is a good creation. I enjoy wearing it,a comfortable and easy to wear one,for me.
The aftershave lotion,100ml glass bottle, not easily found,in my experience,is something all...
Not sure if this has been posted elswhere,it dates from October.
"....its rebirth as a brand of "accessible luxury"...." is the jist.
I have a sample, this lasts for hours. Very rich, right till the end.
I have a full bottle,to which I had "extra" added at the Montale store, the longevity of this is measured in days (rather than...
Ordered but yet to arrive on my mat a 93ml L'Heure Bleue edt in a rechargeable canister
Jean Patou Joy EDP and Shower/bath lotion (for a Christmas present).
If time allows,I would also try to fit in a trip to The Marais. A wonderfully vibrant and interesting area. From memory, there are L'Artisan,Annik Goutal and Penhaligons stores. The area is very...
Aramis 900: a gift from an Aunt, when I was very young. One smell of the orginal bottle and I'm reminded of going to football matches as it was my "match scent",only worn every other Saturday as it...
I can only comment on the EDT. I find the longevity to be excellent. It still goes strong at the end of a working day,on me. I'm quite lucky,in this regard, though. My bottle is a 1999 creation,maybe...
Guerlain's Heritage and L'instant PH are excellent male EDPs.
Just to be awkward,I would choose Visit :)
An excellent cedar note throughout, mixed with soft incense. Longevity is very good. At it's best in cold weather,I find.
Quite linear,don't expect...
I've yet to see a 50ml bottle,in any version.
I have seen a 30ml,though:
Spanish Leather Cologne is my most worn Trumpers. A superb creation. I find it very versatile:fine for work, weekend or a more formal setting. The development, through the note pyramid is on a par with...
I own this. Thankfully :D
I own the wonderful Fair Play by Cerruti.
I also own an Anthony Puig creation called Pull & Bear, bought in Spain a few years ago. A nice, cologne type citrus.
A new creation.
I was attracted by more spice in it. It is also supposed to be nearer to the original formulation than the current EDT.
I ordered Habit Rouge EDC,yesterday (along with Imperiale and L'Heure Bleue).
I'm very much looking forward to all of them arriving,HR in particular. The EDC is the formulation that I have the...
One that may have not been mentioned it the Original Cerruti Pour Homme.
A genuine classic. Well worth considering.
Try to find the original, rather than the re-formulation,though.
If true, fingers crossed it is not, that leaves only Vetiver,HR,Imperiale and L'instant in mass production (widely available, not like the re-launched Coriolan, for example),in the men's line.
Debenhams have a decent range of Guerlain,on-line (including MDM :)). I once saw it in Kendalls (Manchester) also.
Debenhams do not list Heritage, though,at the moment,on-line.
I echo the...
No photo I'm afraid. I can confirm, though, that the 30ml differs from the 50 and 100ml in terms of bottle composition. The 30ml should have a sticker/decal affixed to the bottle. This replaces the...
I'm pleased for you.
I think that both formulations are excellent. The EDP is richer, darker and heavier on the cocoa. I bought the EDP before the EDT,I have no preference in terms of liking one over the other,a lot of...
Royal English Leather is an edt. I would say that the quality.longevity and "feel" of it is no different to the millesiemes.
YSL - Jazz
Royal English Leather
