Now that you mention it, I think you might be on to something here, Bigs.

- Determination that longevity/projection are good... either via testing a sample or the majority of reviews indicating great performance.
Don't find a thing wrong with the Absolutely Gold flanker. I have two 2ml samples. Like it, but think it may be for a younger person than I am.
I also think it bears a strong resemblance to the...
Eyes and ears and mouth, and nose.
Head, and shoulders, knees and toes. Knees and toes.
After reading the reviews and considering the longevity ratings (on Fragrantica), I went with the Special Reserve and like it a lot.
Have tested it with wife a few times, and tried to trick her into...
Just what I was going to write. Code Profumo has a root beer thing going.
In terms of having similar taste in scents, I seem to recall that Demon and BigBZ are on the same sheet of music as I am.
For advice (via pm) I've gotten good insights from TheCologneist and Bigsly....
That's an expression I like using, but am surprised how many people our age (40's and 50's) have never heard it and don't know what it means.
Hehe.. hehehe... you said "woody."
God, I've gotta grow up.
Me too, bro. 18. I'm a lame-o. My already fragile self-esteem just took a savage beating.
Hate it when that happens. :2vrolijk_08:
I like the Original and Absolute. I think the latter may have a bit better longevity.
I found Intense to have a slight dirtiness (got the same thing from LIDGE) which I didn't care for.
Van Cleef and Arpels pour homme
Bijan for Men
There are others that are very manly (like Quorum) but don't have longevity, based on my experience.
Sold these (for cheap) to a co-worker who is also a fraghead:
Roger and Gallet Open poor longevity
Quorum poor longevity
Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense fem perfume aspect
Jaipur Homme ...
You're a good man, Rich. Thanks for the brave and candid post.
Fair thoughts and happy hours to you and yours.
I got heavy carnation with this one, and just too much of an old lady vibe.
Good job, brah
You give us all something to aspire to
After the disappointment of Joop Wild, don't think I'll be seeking out Wow.
I never understood all the claims about this frag having "nuclear longevity," being the "beastliest of beast scents," etc. etc.
I had this one back in the late 2012 to 2014 time frame, and after...
I perceived much more coconut out of this one than I did rum/booze. Reminded me of some sort of coconutty suntan lotion or something.
In my opinion, Quorum is the ultimate masculine scent. You are correct about the performance being poor. Again, my opinion. Over the course of a few years, I have given it (different bottles from...
Sauvage is Mont Blanc Individuel. No doubt about it. I'm not the smartest frag guy by any means, but the similarity of these two is unmistakable, and I don't get how others haven't picked up on...
Wife got me Dior Sauvage. Not a bad little frag. Had sampled it previously at Sephora, and would not have bought a full bottle myself, but wife and younger daughter are nuts about it. Maybe the...
I'm no spring chicken, and I'm not above wearing it. Women of various ages seem to like it. I can live with that.
Have the edt and find it quite OK. Wife likes it too. Don't even need to try or get the edp.
I get it to some extent from both Polo green and Sung Homme.
For me Kiton Men was a nice enough scent but with dreadful performance. Skin scent in 1/2 hour or less.
I find Curve very similar to Kiton Men, but not sure about a performance comparison as I've...
Someone that doesn't know any better, obviously.
Based on reviews, I think even the edp only lasts 2-3 hours for most peeps. For most of us, I think any version of this frag is just a lost cause as far as performance. Pity.
Having grown up around eucalyptus in so. California, I think Body Kouros def has that note. Great scent, but the performance lacked, at least on me.
And you won't pay much for this one.
First I need to know what dookie is. You mean cookie?
I'm with Slayerized in recommending Van Cleef & Arpels PH
Loved the scent, but was quite disappointed with longevity. Got rid of it. But I liked it enough and it is cheap enough that I *might* revisit it one of these days.
King Quorum. Too bad the longevity/projection of the current juice sucks. Gotta spray heavy.
Code Profumo is superb
The Prada for sure. DHI is fem, and PH has crap longevity. (CK One Shock is a great, cheaper substitute for the latter).
Answer is no, but I'm glad you're back, brah.
Actually, I think Black Aoud is a bit better than Dark Aoud. The latter is horrid.... elastic bandages (BandAids) and antiseptic. Unreal.
I can believe that there are some off-the-wall guys who want to smell like this. What amazes me is that some of them claim to have gotten compliments from ladies.
Hard to believe, but I guess...
Ever used any of those orange scented wood cleaners/conditioners? THAT is TdH.. either edt or edp.
Plus I've found that just in general I can't deal with heavy vetiver or Iso E Super (TdH, Encre...
By "Hm" do you mean Hanae Mori HM, or Hmmm?
My Roger and Gallet Open sprays a perfectly-shaped, generous burst.
Agree with this.
CK One Shock has impressed the hell out of me. And it's a cheapie !:vrolijk_26:
He asked about Code Profumo, not AdG Profumo.
To answer the question, in that warm/hot climate I would go with Bleu. The edp lasts longer in my opinion. Love mine.
Code Profumo is not quite as...
Nice scent, but another for me with unacceptable performance. Sold to a co-worker.
I think the current, reformulated regular Quorum is a masculine gem in terms of scent, but also has poor...
CK One Shock
Maybe Jaipur Homme (need to test in colder weather)
Really need to try Issey Miyake Bleue
I could never answer this question as I very rarely smell any scents on men... much less smell something so frequently I am sick of it.
In what venues do you guys smell any particular scents...
Off topic, but the sprayer on my Roger and Gallet Open gives a tremendous, perfectly shaped (conical) burst. A good sprayer is indeed an impressive thing. :vrolijk_26:
Kiton is a nice enough scent, but when I scored some here at the marketplace, I found it had virtually NO longevity, much less projection. In 1/2 hour it was gone, and my wife helped me confirm this...
Voyage is one of my faves. But the current version with the plastic cap has poor longevity compared to the older version with the metal cap.
There is definitely a difference.
Bought on eBay, so haven't received yet... Lolita Lempicka au Masculin. The older, better version with built-in sprayer, no cap.
I like the Code better.
I highly doubt the PT could be better than the Armani profumo, which I own and dig.
Gosh, only 5? Well, I'll try to narrow it down.
At the moment it would probably be:
Bleu de Chanel (edp)
Roger and Gallet Open
Van Cleef and Arpels PH
Armani Code Profumo
You say that like it's a bad thing
Had a 5 ml sample of this recently, and tested it thoroughly. Not so sure about the coconut. I definitely got lime and cedar... just as quite a few reviewers (here and at Fragrantica) mentioned. ...
Could have been the cheap, well-performing, and very coconutty Joop Wild.
If you are going to buy a coconut scent, try this one before spending the big bucks on some of these other niche suggestions.
I only suggest the profumo version because it is deeper and lasts longer. But most women just like the Code scent in general.
Agree. It would be hard to find a female that doesn't like this.
I don't think OP is going to be with us much longer....
Had the edt, and sold it here on BN due to poor longevity. Was curious about the edp, and wife got it for me as a j.b. (just because) gift. I like it a lot.
And yes, I realize this poll/post is...
I know... what is wrong with peeps here that they feel a need to rip on other guys choices, opinions, the fact that they club, or the fact they like compliments.
Damn... live and let live guys.
I agree that Bleu EDP is a great scent and a people pleaser. Much more likely to garner compliments than Aventus, imo. My wife and younger daughter, who is a scent nut (perfumes, scented candles,...
Not as strong (longevity and projection) as I'd hoped.
I like the way you think.
Aqua Quorum. Nice scent, can't beat the price, but very weak juice. Sold it to a guy at work for a few bucks.
I may have to try some of the current juice at one of the stores that carries it. If the scent is the same but with improved longevity, I will be all over this one. :2vrolijk_08:
You've obviously never tried One Man Show
The current is the bomb.
Poor longevity for me and many others. But if you had great results with it, maybe we're all mistaken.
Not at all... but PAPI is a superb frag. Great scent and one of the very few I get good longevity with.
Can you find a batch code on the bottom of the bottle? I think you have a crappy formulation.
Edited: here's the thread to check out:
I remember reading in the "powerhouse" group here that there have been 3 different formulations of this frag.
I seem to recall that most guys liked either the 1st and most recent formulations most,...
In terms of scent, price, and longevity, I would HIGHLY recommend CK One Shock. Tobacco, spice, and a little fruit (cherry?). One of my faves.
Hey... do you have the brown box/cap, or the dark green one? I have the latter, (newer I believe) version, and it is weak juice. You would need about 16 sprays.
Guys in the know claim to me that...
Prada Amber pour homme Intense is a superb scent with excellent longevity.
Kenzo pour homme is a superb scent with poor longevity.
A couple of months ago I tested SB at a Sephora. Wife and I both really liked it. But this isn't the cheapest frag in the world, and given the anecdotal evidence of changes in scent or longevity...
Thanks for the input, Ken. It's on the way, and based on all the descriptions/reviews, would be quite surprised if I didn't like Open.
Polo green... from a 50-ish female security guard at work. Though sort of a tomboy type.
She probably just remembers and likes it from back in the day.
BdC for sure. Very pleasant, and the women in my life dig it. As do I. Just wish the longevity was better.
To me, the current formulation of CW has a chemical, cleaning product thing going, and...
Hope you like all of 'em. The only one I've tried is Kouros, and I can't deal with it (sort of like One Man Show). But other guys here adore Kouros. So I hope you fall into that camp.
What's your point, dude?
Oh.... and my most complimented at this point (mostly female family members) is Armani Code Profumo.
I have 2 newer releases.... Aqua di Gio Profumo AND Code Profumo. I highly recommend both.
Ah... my two powerhouse buddies Derbyman and Slayerized! Thanks for the replies. That settles it. Going to blind buy from Fragrancenet (via eBay), as they do appear to have the brown box/cap. ...
Thanks guys. This helps me out. I will be blind buying and now will ensure I am getting the brown box/cap. Thanks again!
Reviews and posts on this frag make it sound like something that would be right up my alley.
But where I find it for sale, on eBay for example, I am seeing diff. colored boxes and caps.
Absolutely correct. The current formulation of Quorum is the ultimate masculine. Too bad the longevity sucks.
2nd place would probably be a tie between Polo green and VC&A PH.
