And my sotd as well
It just doesn't make sense to me.
And not everything needs to make sense all the time but still....
I'll try it.
Hopefully it'll be good.
Each perfume is unique.
So, what are the notes?
It's very personal.
Some people are happy with one.
Some with 2-3
Some with 5-6
Some with up to 8
Some like 400
I think if you're not doing a 400 wardrobe, 5-6 is just right.
Nope. still around.
I hope they smell atypical
If it's too feminine for me, wifey will like it.
I own and enjoy both but they're very different.
Particularly because CF is floral based.
Anyone try it?
not yet released here
its either a make it (further) or break it scenario for l'Ap
TC is medicinal. It smells like a bouquet of tuberose flowers that've bloomed at night (they're night blooming species).
CF is more refined.
I wear weak perfumes for short outings.
Description is very vague. I am disappointed.
l'Artisan temporarily pulled back their line here and will re-launch under the new packaging soon.
You get into niche by accepting to experience new things without negatively comparing it to what you're used to.
I will try it but lately Kilian has been lacking.
Its not usual for them to do 180 degree differences. Not so abruptly.
Gave it a full wearing today.
An Aventus flanker.
IMO much better then Aventus because it's , slightly, more complex.
Calone & pineapple.
For shame MDCI....piggybacking on Aventus'...
I suppose it's self explanatory but I'll try out seek out perfumes that weren't talked about & hope they're not commercial fillers.
I think the whole Micallef line is filled with hidden gems.
None to buy
A few to try
I think the majority of these are outsourced. The auto company requests a theme, gets a few drafts, selects one & that's it.
I don't think they get too involved because they don't have a qualified...
I don't collect. I just buy what I like.
And frankly I cannot see the appeal of collecting & not using.
It's like collecting food.
There are two primary costs in products:
The cost of raw material & overheads
Then, on top of these two costs to produce, the company applies their markup - how much profit they want to make.
Impossible to source:
Turtle Vetiver - exercise 1
I treat samples like a full bottle.
My usual 8 to 14 sprays
There's a world, no galaxy, of perfumes that await your eager nose.
Do drop by every so often & let us know your thoughts.
Editions du Parfums
the Tom Ford
Give it away to someone less fortunate than you.
Yes. Why not.
It used to be very common in the 80s and mid 90s here.
But its now no longer seen here in the UAE.
I guess its because the "ill spray myself with anything - despite already wearing another...
They are all worth trying.
I like Benjoin Boheme from the newer releases & 34 Saint Germain Boulevard
True. They should at the very least not offered in 70ml.
It's matter woody nor subtle.
But excellent nonetheless.
Not I , said hedonist222.
I love the MFK line.
I look forward to trying it.
The Sailim we know returns.
They're all more or less worth trying.
Keep in mind that some sure considered extraordinarily more expensive than others. But with trying for reference at least.
They have the largest variety from simple citruses to complex concoctions to niche compositions.
No. Not at all.
Glad you enjoyed.
I personally don't care about dealing with people. I just want the item & I'm out.
Because , well, theres really not much relation to MR.
I hope its juniper-centric. I love juniper.
People do buy them though.
All four are nice.
Coromandel & the Zegna patchouli are not very comparable. The latter is more patchouli centric.
Of them all, I prefer the Chanels.
Goodbye MFK in it's entirety.
Encens et Lavand
And I think drseid's favorite Classical by Ana Fritz
It depends on the composition
It's like asking whether cardamom or vanilla essence gives more strength, luxury and depth to a recipe
Horses for courses & all that
Try 8 sprays.
If you still can't smell yourself, consider an ENT visit.
Not as multi dimensional as the original
Thx for reminding me
I'll wear it
Moniker literally translates to:
Abdul Karim the Frenchman
I think the Americas (northern), Western Europe and Far East Asia have grown whereas the Arab world hasn't.
In the sense that in Western Europe, Northern America & Far East Asia only a small amount...
It is subtle.
I'll seek it out.
Invasion Barbare, Chypre Palatin, and Fetes Persanes are very nice.
Eau Lente - Diptyque
We'll find out, right?
I doubt the new owners would be crackbrained enough to request reformulations.
I've been wanting to use the term crackbrained for a while now. Thanks for the opportunity...
I should mention.
I was in this exact predicament 11 years ago. A week before our honeymoon.
Prada Amber pour Homme was freshly released & wifey said she'd love for me to get a bottle. I casually...
I voted I don't factor.
Happened a few times when I purchased(gambled) stuff from eBay.
Evolve into an even more intelligent husband. Get the one she likes & intentionally wear it a few times a month around her.
In your case I could say check out what you already have & get the one you don't have. From a genre perspective.
But truthfully I would say get the one you really want. Even if there's overlap.
Encens et Lavande?
It's not as offensive as when you mention a note in a perfume, then someone says that can't be true. Because it's not mentioned in the notes list lol.
No coffee note in Kyoto.
Rightly so because what does Kyoto have to do with coffee.
Samples go off.
The silk route was long and encompassed many cultures. I would not like a perfume that encompassed them all.
I'd love a perfume that encompasses certain stretches of it.
Benzoin Boheme groom this year.
It doesn't work like that.
If your expectations aren't being met, then adjust accordingly.
Petit Grain - Miller Harris
I never suffer olfactory fatigue.
maybe the first five minutes of a particularly strong perfume
Reduce mainstream type scents to only 25% of total output.
No. There are none.
Live in a society that embraces this lifestyle.
Myself of course.
A perfume is like a personality - can either charm or infuriate others.
Life's too short for myths & superstition.
Not trying to be negative but how do you eat or buy clothes?
The same way.
The new petit matin
The annual diptyque release - the rose one.
Problem is the bloody thing doesn't project much after an hour.
Maybe my retail sample from the boutique is oxidized.
I tried it briefly.
Wish I could've given it a full wearing.
That tells you something, right? If I'm willing to give it a full wearing. :)
If that were the case, wouldn't you smell the alcohol after the top notes perished?
Ahh, food for thought.
I gave this a full wearing the other day. It's nice go see Amouage going back to their roots.
Starts out with a bit of violet leaves , soft leather and a floral accord.
Then the patchouli (very...
Those who like older Amouage will enjoy this.
I didn't & I don't.
The woman one though is amazing.
It's a very versatile perfume. Daily wear.
I would say it's from his B grade releases.
A grade being Pluriel, Absolue pour le Soir &a few others
C grade being Amyris
But a C grade MFK is still...
Think of perfume as a complex composition that's blended and not something clinically layered & easily dissected.
Also, not all top notes vanish. Think of them as garnish.
See I even made it...
Its a 2 shot win.
First of all, its cheaper. Cost of one one design of bottle and box for all perfumes. Production is cheaper too.
Secondly, its safer. You never know what may not appeal to a...
I voted :
Buy 1-2 mid range bottles
Because you already have 50 and appear to enjoy them. So why not more. MOAR
30ml would be nice
