Erolfa. Interesting take on aquatic. Like a tropical holiday, VIW at the pool side bar, Erolfa out on the beach.

Erolfa. Interesting take on aquatic. Like a tropical holiday, VIW at the pool side bar, Erolfa out on the beach.
Blind bought splash for under 20.00. I don't like it at all. I like Joop Jump, Go and the original. Splash smells like chemicals to me. Splash would be in my top 5 disliked fragrances.
Baldessarini Del Mar
And another yes, i have bought testers with no cap in a brown box, presentation is of no interest to me.
I have not smelled an alternative to VIW. I have Set Sails St. Barts and tested Coney Island a few times.Never had any projection or longevity issues with VIW. If you need, add one spray to your...
Versace Oud Noir
OP, I think it's too personal to find a perfect list from others, it's one fragrance at a time. Sample, lots of samples, and drop by your department stores to try everything there too. I'd like to...
From my experience, some of the Creeds share a very strong house note (ambergris/musk). I find the end dry down of GIT, Himalaya, SMW, MI, Santal share this strong house note. But the opening and mid...
FYI, Mugler's Ultra Zest is available at The Bay.
Montale Red Vetyver
Agree, Ambergris house note in Creed.
LOL, I have never tried Dior Leather but this thread gets my vote for best subject title thus far in 2015, so funny, thanks for the laugh steviereds.
I'm having the same issue. I just got a batch from Nordstrom, A94 (Sept 2014). Its not as rich as the sample I got about 6 months ago. Its lighter with less leather and more raspberry. It smells like...
OP, welcome to basenotes.
I would suggest the EDT version. I found it more interesting and fresh than the EDP.
Finally, Tom Ford Tuscan Leather.
Many that I don't like but these two just don't work for me:
Gendarme by Gendarme
Runner up SMW, MI
No resemblance for me.
Muglar Taste of fragrance
Tommy Bahama set sail st barts (not even close to Creeds VIW)
Chez bond no9
Tsar, used up two bottles of the original way back when.
Creed Original Vetiver last a full day on my skin. It lasts at least two days on clothing.
When it drops below -20C I pull the trigger on L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme Extreme.
Aventus and Bleu de Chanel EDT.
Yes I have helped out a number of people. I find it amusing when they can't decide between two scents and I suggest they buy both for rotation. Their response is usually along the line of surprise...
If your still considering headphones I suggest looking for "uncommon" brands such as AKG, Beyerdynamic, Sharp, Sony Studio Monitor, Sennheiser, Grado, Stax. If your looking at Best-buy chances are...
My vote is this one, but I dont have many of ginger based fragrances.
In Canada, I have seen Polo Modern Reserve at a number of Shoppers Drug Mart's. Discontinued, that I do not know.
There two types of fragrances sections at Shoppers. The regular stores may have it...
Really like Tuscan Leather, its on my buy list for December.
Last and projects like a fragrance should, you can count on it lasting all day.
I would go light on the trigger, its that strong /...
Based on the thread title, perhaps Polo Modern Reserve?
Zero dollars for me...but Im seriously test driving Tom Ford Oud Wood, Noir de Noir, Tuscan Leather.
October/November savings will be going toward Decembers Christmas gift Noir de Noir and Tuscan...
I own Rochas Man and find it rough / synthetic. I never wear it, I find it annoying.
I have tried Lanvin Avant Garde and I am not fond of it either. However, I would go Avant Garde over Rochas Man....
Gucci Pour Homme II
Purchased the only bottle.
Logical explanation, I agree with this.
Got my bottle from the Canadian boutique. I live in Canada so it was a treat to actually get good service and no cross boarder issues.
With that said, you better like patchouli dirtiness. I only...
Tried this today. This is not unisex in my book, seems feminine.
I like to search out deals; it's a baseline in all my hobbies. I like both the hunt and the gather.
Paying for something can be closure for hard work and saving for what I need and enjoy.
Least - aquatics worst, luke warm to floral
Most - everything else but lean towards vanille, sweet, wood scents
OP, thanks for the info!
I did not like Bleu EDT. Sampled it a number of times but my general dislike for Chanel tainted my opinion. I picked up a 50ml bottle of Bleu EDT at Costco a number of months ago thinking I want at...
Not sure about best but I like Guerlain Eau De Cologne Imperial. Fresh, clean, light.
Alot of time spent driving around the city hitting stores on a regular basis to find these very seldom Canadian deals.
The USA seems to be the place to get the deals. Some of their online stores...
Can't say I get licorice from my bottle of B*men.
Jerk_Store, thanks for the $49.99 Costco tip.
Today I picked up 30ml Creed Aventus A42B11N01
Last week I picked up 50ml Chanel Bleu
I also saw A*men, Drakkar, HiM Hanae Mori Parfume, and many...
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
Mugler Taste of Fragrance
Bond No9 Chez Bond
Everyhing from Chanel but Bleu EDT
Frederic Malle Carnal Flower
I got Bleu months back at a Canadian Costco. I'll have to drop by to see if they have Creed. It would be good if they have some other Creeds to select. Thanks for the heads up.
When I was young, before the teenage years, I remember Mom and Dad putting on a scent before going out. To the best of my memory Dad had Brut and Aqua Velva, Mom I think had Chantilly and Avon...
Thinking back to the 90's before I started gathering.
I went thru two bottle of Eddy Bauer Adventure.
I think I went thru two bottles of Hugo Dark Blue as well.
I now have a third bottle of Hugo...
Agree 100 percent iwth dougczar.
I have recently tried all of my samples from this house.
The only one I really like and would consider is Jubilation XXV.
Take the time and effort to get all...
Agree with Puremugler, I would not suggest a blind buy of TOF.
TOF is different from Malt and A*Men so its not "overkill".
I find TOF leans more toward B*Men than A*Men.
I only wear TOF and...
OP, yup like Hugo, used up a couple of 30 or 50ml bottles years back. Next up I got Hugo Dark Blue, liked this one more.
I have been keeping an eye out for Hugo at Winners, looking for a good sale...
google "percent of men who wear cologne"
I thought this was an interesting read:
Thanks for the info.
Bleu would be my choice.
Winners - Tom Ford Noir 100ml $104.00. Seems high for an outlet store.
Cant pick just one, in my collection I equally dislike the following:
Dior Homme eau for men
Acqua Di GIO
VIW is fun and relaxing in the right situation. I am glad I have a bottle.
Pure Havane was second to Pure Malt for me until...
The other day I wore Pure Havane on a warm Canadian day and was surprised how nice it worked with a bit of warmth. The top notes came alive in a...
Of which I own all 3...
I don't find Creed OV and Mugler Cologne that similar. There are some parts of connection but overall from start to finish they are different. So maybe they are in the same...
These days, Guerlain Eau de Cologne Imperiale.
Designer - Sephora
Niche - Lucky Scent
Selecting a scent can be tricky as one never knows how people around them will react.
What will work best for a date?
What will work best for an interview?
What will work best for an...
My 50ml Bleu de Chanel has pristine lettering. I have been using this as my daily scent for over a month now.
The ebay bottle, they mention it was impacted by a leaking bottle. I would think the...
Agree. Have tried many of the substitutes but they just don't compare. Don't assume similar is the same or even close. Vibe maybe but vibe can be more of a classification of a type.
Creeds have a...
Tried it last week. I don't recall it smelling like YSL L'Homme.
Fresh opening and a light clean wood-ish dry down. Its pleasant enough for casual use.
It it were half the price I would have...
I have tried may of the aquatic recommendations over the last few years and I just don't like this category.
Before I started this hobby I purchased a bottle of Baldessarini DelMar (Blue Juice). I...
If your looking forward to A*MEN Pure Wood release follow the link posted by Meow7.
The hype train has left the marketing...
DH reform has a bit more coco than the original. I find the latest DH a very slight departure from the original formulation. However, the reform heads a very slight amount in the direction of DHI...
I followed many of the reviewers over the last few years. I too have noticed the change. It sounds like a lot of work for the reviewers to make the videos. I would also imagine finances kick in as...
2 full bottle sprays under the shirt
Subjective question. However, a while back I was out sampling and this customer beside me was frustrated as he was sure his bottle of play intense smelled different to the one he was sampling. He did...
vahebaboomian, having had a look at your collection i would suggest you pass on DHI for the time being as you have DH. I would also suggest you pass on GIT and go for Aventus. If you have tried GIT...
highend, I would skip DH as you already have DHI. I would bypass GIT for the time being. You have Bleu de Chanel that you can use as a versatile office day to day scent. I would suggest you go with...
The logo on my bottle is not perfectly aligned but not as far off as the one shown. I looked at a few testers at the mall and they were not perfectly aligned either. So who knows if this is an...
CK one summer 2014 does not smell like VIW.
VIW has much more body and power with a base that is denser. VIW has the coconut vibe and for sure lime.
CK 2014 is more transparent with a lighter...
Winners (Canada) has been rather empty for the last couple months.
Today they had two 120ml bottles of Creed Silver Mountain Water, 2013 date code. 199.99 per bottle (prices are increasing).
OP, you mention top tier stuff. Id suggest you skip a couple cheap purchases in the future and go for your mentioned Tom Ford and Creed's as samples. Samples can bring some sanity to the vast array...
For consideration - Guerlain Eau de Cologne Imperiale.
Finally showed up online at the The Bay (Canada). To bad its not in store for testing. I really want to check this one out but I am very hesitant for blind buys.
I'm not crazy about Bois du Portugal but its not awful.
However, Acqua di Gio is a scrubber for me. I just cant tolerate it.
Purchased a 50ml bottle. Finally arrived here in Canada at The Bay (exclusive). Looking forward to the nice iris opening as per homme without the strong silage. This will be excellent for work. I get...
1) Dior Homme Intense
2) Mugler Pure Malt
3) Bleu de Chanel
Purchased from Costco Canada 50ml for $49.99. Last time I checked there were none in stock.
Packaging and scent is the same as the local authorized stores.
Winners - Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense 49.99. Forget the size, seemed expensive, passed.
MI, its more practical.
This is a rare price. From what I see at Wnners this is a seldom seen clearance price. Aventus usually sells for 250.00 at Winners. Now for us Canadians ordering from the USA its not a great...
Latest price for Aventus has been 250, at 147 its time to pull the trigger. Couple weeks back Creed Neroli was on clearance for 90,00. Bonds tend to go for 200 but I did see a few on...
I would suggest you just roll with DHI. DH is more feminine. There is enough similarity that you might be better off buying something else.
Retail work, connecting with your customers, go with the compliment getters. You mention you get compliments with Bleu and DH, go with those. I would have picked those anyway.
There are many I don't like but Tobacco Vanille makes me gag. I guess this makes it the worse for me.
I cannot wear Acqua Di Gio and Tobacco Vanille. They both make my stomach turn.
