Re: Montale Black Aoud vs Bogart Pour Homme

Since they are so different, I'd suggest you order a sample from ThePerfumedCourt.com or Luckyscent.com for Black Aoud, and Bogart Pour Homme is inexpensive enough to consider it as a blind-buy. ...

Re: Tuscan Leather or Oud Cuir D'Arabie

Couldn't agree more -- I do like Tuscan Leather, but Aoud Cuir d'Arabie offers so much more. Let it soak in, smell them both, and I'm confident you'd find the Montale much more intriguing.

  5. Re: Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui VS Vaan Cleef & Arpels pour homme.

I actually do own both. The comments about VC&A are fairly spot-on: The top tends toward being herbal and soapy, though not unpleasant.

They share the following top notes: basil, bergamot,...

Re: How much do you like YSL M7

Well put! I couldn't wait to regift mine. Trying to think what this reminded me of, I'm thinking the Geriatric Home...

That's the one! Though actually, I wouldn't give M7 that much credit....
  7. Re: The most BEAUTIFUL fragrance you have tried/own

It's tough to pick just one, but I gravitate to Bond No. 9 Bleecker Street as a mainstay. As for most gorgeous, there's a few I'd choose from:

Montale Aoud Cuir d'Arabie - astounding
    Creed Royal...

Re: Creed Aventus Is A Waste Of Money

I agree, and here's been my experience. I tried Aventus when it first came out, and I'm not sure what I was expecting but I felt very non-plussed about it. Seemed to me to be a fairly common scent,...
  9. Re: Bond no 9 New Harrlem vs Thierry Mugler Pure coffee

New Haarlem, easily. Though I'd also recommend (if you can find it) L'Artisan Parfumeur's L'Eau du Navigateur if you want a coffee/leather/tobacco vibe that isn't as sugary or quite as sweet....

    Re: Summing Up 2011

My wife would agree with Sur le Toit, it's the fragrance that calms her at night before she sleeps. And my, it's lovely.
  11. Re: Headed to Neiman's - What should I sample?

I'd recommend checking out the Clive Christian collection ("C" and "X" are outstanding, not so fond of "No. 1"), would also suggest the By Kilian line and both Tom Ford Private Collection (I'd forego...
  12. Re: I Loved Rose 31, and I want more Le Labos

Definitely, it sounds like Vetiver 46 would be a great match, and I'd echo the sentiments about Santal 33. My personal preference would be to steer clear of Oud 27 unless you enjoy a very raw,...
  13. Re: For a 14 year old boy? (Inexpensive, please.)

Jean Paul Gautier "Le Male". Classic but still in his age bracket, and not another A&F clone.

    Re: Summing Up 2011

Best department store release -- Shalimar Parfum Initial (I resisted this for a while, but it really is worthy, Thierry Wasser really nailed this)
Best niche release -- Bond No. 9 New York Amber;...

    Re: Niche at duty free?

Canuck, for yours and most situations (other than Dubai), the answer is "no, you won't find much in the way of niche" (though my wife did find a Guerlain in JFK), and my other advice to you or anyone...
  16. Re: Is Bond 9 New York Amber same as Harrods Amber

    And the answer is...

Yes and no. I had an opportunity to ask the question at a Bond personal appearance, and the difference is concentration. The Harrods Amber is 18%, the New York Amber is 30%...
  17. Re: The "Dandy" name gets erased from Arsène Lupin

Wow. First time I've seen myself quoted to myself. Thanks, Eric. :)
It's a good thing I still have the original box, that's going right back inside until the right time comes along.

    Andy...
  18. Re: New Fragrances: Bond No. 9 I Love New York

I must be the lone dissenting vote here, but I've tried the For All and For Him varieties of this. I can sum my experience up in a word: Disappointment.

The one thing you need to know about the...
  19. Re: Histoires de Parfums: PETROLEUM, ROSAM, AMBRAREM

    Petroleum...hmmm...

    1. Three bottles -- I wonder if these represent "Regular", "Mid-Grade" and "High-Octane"?
    2. Does wearing one mean that you'll get picked up by a Mercedes?

  20. Re: Is there something similar to Bleecker Street's drydown?

If you haven't pulled the trigger yet, I'd highly recommend it. RL Purple Label is notably close on dry down, but longevity is incredibly poor (about 2 hours versus 8-12 for Bleecker). Also, I...
  21. Re: Made a really expensive purchase today from Saks Fifth Bond No. 9 New York Oud

Congrats, Change1. I've had it a couple weeks, and agree completely on the longevity; I love the depth and complexity of the fragrance as well as the transformation it makes from top to base. I...
  22. Re: Le Labo........much ado about nothing.....

Wow. I just read through this entire thread and walk away with the following impression: We love it, we hate it, we have no universal consensus around it (not uncommon), and we're focused more on...

    Re: Ambre Narguile-No negative reviews?

Not to redundantly state what others have aptly captured -- it's an Amber but a very soft and feminine one, with which I would agree -- it has simply too much of a sweetness for me to pull off...
  24. Re: ScentMatchers claims to match any scent for $60

Kitz, I tried much the same thing: A bespoke fragrance crafted from the fine aromas of $**+ and Shinola. Called it Eau de Toilette Publique. They can do it, God bless 'em! Not as creative as your...

    Re: Clive Christian "C"

I sampled this at Neiman's, so I can only comment on the "Men's". The pyramid for top/heart/base notes does seem all-over-the-map, but in the final analysis, the closest comparisons that I can make...
