Sorry I have to disagree with the most of you. I bought a small bottle of this the other day, a new stock, and new kind of bottle. It was unwearable for me, too animalic and dirty. Caused the same...
Prada Amber Pour Homme (Daniela Andrier/Miuccia Prada, launched 2006)
Not so often happens to me, but the best 2 I remember were some years ago from a lady colleague of Gucci Nobile (that I don't wear anymore) and recently of Bleu de Chanel parfum.
I finally gave it a try a week ago. I'm glad I didn't bought it blind...Had an idea to do so. I found it disgusting, Waited till the middle notes, had to scrub it away. A big disappointment.
I have Green Irish Tweed, Bois du Portugal, Original Vetiver and Millesime Imperial and a sample of Silver Mountain Water. The latter 2 I don't care much about.
I went with EN too.. The other 2 are not my cup of coffee.
CK Eternity for men (vintage)
Baldessarini Strictly Private
Hugo Boss Energize
Bogart Pour Homme
Monsieur de Givenchy
and many more
Don't remember either having ever asked. In most cases they are easy to recognize anyway.
Memoire d'Homme by Nina Ricci (2002, created by Christine Nagel and Rosendo Mateu )
I guess it's on my try list too - as an another member from the same country reviewed it today with at least somewhat positive comments.
I like it and my wife loves it on me - especially that certain pungent note (which I'm not sure what note it is excactly) somewhere in the middle notes.... Maybe juniper together with some florals...
Personally I find it strange some people have so strong, ultimate feelings for or against a perfume house. Creed or any other. Extreme "hating" or "loving" a perfume feels as well a bit confusing...
I think the thing is:
1. A very small percentage of buyers of it know the fact it was designed for Duke of Windsor (Edward VIII) - I didn't but learned it a minute ago
2. Of those who know it was...
Terre d' Hermes EDT vintage
Boss Bottled Intense
I love the classic EDT and don't care about the others. I have only smelled vintage (my newest bottle is from 2006).
Used to be a drummer in a band also doing the backing vocals. Back then I remember mostly wearing Lagerfeld. (Classic) - I had aftershave and deodorant.
Lavender-barbershop with animalic tones and leather plus retro vibe brings to my mind Azzaro pour Homme. (?)
I think this is same company as Strawberrynet. They have their EU storage warehouse in Sweden. These cosmetic products are not cleared customs at EU side and no VAT has been paid of them while...
Never ordered from them but in my opinion the 124 complaints a year is a very small amount, their sales volume and annual amount of orders must be huge, don't know the exact numbers ....but in 2013...
Must try this. Many American fragrances are underrated, imo. I like the original vintage Aramis cologne, as well as Havana vintage. Thanks Neal for the link.
I never liked that one though I know it's very loved one. Tried it many times in order to start like it, but it did not happen. Instead, imo the flanker "La Nuit L'Homme Frozen Cologne" is OK or...
Boss Bottled Intense 100 ml
I like Memoir Man (9 out of 10) and Journey Man (7,5 out of 10) and own them. Epic Man (7 out of 10) is also somewhat nice but didn't quite buy it.
Maybe Domenico Caraceni 1913 nearly full 100 ml (the original Forester version, not the re-launched)
I've been having a break and not worn this for a while, now, inspired by this thread chose it as my SOTE, and YES! I really like this one. I find this strong and woody, the sweetness is balanced,...
Amazon is imo quite safe place to buy, especially if you buy directly from Amazon. In fact, there are choices in fragrances you can buy direcly from Amazon. As you are in EU, you can as well use...
Congrats, enjoy. The original EDT is in my top favourites too. J-C Ellena surely knows what to do with citruses, oranges especially.... EDP - OK/nice as well.
My SOTD, D & G Pour Homme vintage does the trick. Warm tobacco based semi sweet fragrance, plus lavender is the key to calming effect for me.
At least the age of the person should be known, even better the style as well, but something like D & G The One maybe?
Could I ask some advice, I have the "tin can" version, and like it very much, there's only one issue for me, it's the star anise that i don't care for so much - but the drydown is great, I just...
Good point!
Now that was nostalgic, thanks to OP - Recognized PPH as well, not the other. Plus Lucky Strike cigarettes, a Rolex(?) watch.......
YSL L'Homme Parfum Intense . First impression: too sweet, too close-to-skin. I expected something more woody notes. Not my cup of coffee.
I agree, easily Bleu EDP
You're right, the trick I also use is to order some 3-4 euro worth make-up, in order to get free shipping. The highest loyalty discount is 10% which i have as well. IMO the best thing with...
I have mostly good experiences from fragrancex.com and have ordered a lot from them. Usually order when they have the FSW promo code on (like right now) then the shipping is free worldwide. Only...
Chanel Allure Homme (vintage) :
Without a slightest quilty feeling, I like 1 Million (pre-reformulation), Rochas Man, Hilfiger Men Sport, Le Male (pre-reformulation)
Afaik all Chanel bottles do have a serial number (4 digits) in the back of the bottle. Check the side profile of the bottle, is the bottle made of one "piece" or is it put together from 2 separate...
The bottle has stylish look, very nice indeed.
Even though launched in yet 1999 - Chanel Allure Homme
I remember trying out Intenso, and found it really nice, almondy and nicely soapy if I remember correctly. Not as good as the original D&G Pour Homme though.
Since 2010 Rochas Macassar (original formula)
This could be some calculated marketing technique as well ; people keep talking about the difference of batches. The Creed brand is then a guaranteed discussed topic on forums like this. In case...
"A fresh leathery wood: sensuous and envelopping"
For me it's the smokiness and pineapple accord which i don't like.
It means the alcohol content of the fragrance. 79% is a quite typical percentage for an EDT.
I have bought at least 100 fragrances from eBay and haven't yet received a fake. Once it was very near, I had already paid for Bleu de Chanel 100 ml edt but before he had shipped it, asked the...
If it's of the whole planet's population that's being talked about, I'd guess 1/7 of world's population lives in the welfare countries and I'd estimate about 1/5 of those wear cologne. That would...
Okay will add mine: Bogart Pour Homme.
I recently bought a bottle of Summer Edition 2012 and it brings back to my mind what this used to smell in the early days. Quite nice smell, but not so good longevity.
Out of curiosity also...
Yes these sound good to me. :)
Chanel Allure Homme vintage ( + deodorant)
Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme vintage ( + deodorant)
Jean-Paul Gaultier Le Male Summer Edition 2012 ( + deodorant)
Rochas Macassar original formula backup...
Imo one of the worst is D & G Pour Homme - the latest "made in UK" is really awful and far different from the original "made in Italy". The original is awesome.
For me it has always been that way. Been there in 80's as it was launched and it was an immidiate dislike. I like the Absolute flanker though. Dior has so many fine offerings like Eau Sauvage......
Some fragrances that smell hideous to me:
L'Eau Bleue d'Issey Pour Homme
Paco Rabanne pour homme
Ysl Pour Homme Concentre'
Bogart Pour Homme (pipe tobacco - cherry - tonka) A very nice one
Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme (vintage Made in Italy / Euroitalia)
Domenico Caraceni 1913 (original formula)
Rose 31 (original formula)
I also own a bottle of 13P02 and on me it smells the best (my own and wife's opinion). The violet is strong in this batch, agreed. Compared with the other 2 I own, 13T01 and 14A01, this is the best...
Tls you have many I don't know at all, some I like very much, but these are not good to my nose:
Montale Black Aoud
L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme Extreme
I'm planning for my next fragrance buy and i'm considering Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme or Chanel Allure Homme. Both can be considered as classics I guess? Whichever it will be I'd probably be...
This looks to me a very handy way to keep them organized. Good choice!
Not sure but i think i have the vintage version of Carolina Herrera for men 50ml edt spray, sprayed 2-3 times. It just doesn't work for me. The bottle & box look like this except 50ml not 100... ...
I tried to sell some fragrances for months and months. The price was noticeably lower than in eBay. Only a few bottles sold. Put all the rest to the ebay for sale, and they are nearly all gone, I...
Carolina Herrera for Men - vulgar, vile, the smell of curry is untolerable.
MontBlanc Precense Cool - too soft, really uninspiring.Does nothing
Terre d' Hermes Parfum- Love the EDT (original...
Quite a coincidence, there are 3 perfumes in mr. Sieuzac's creations which I dislike: Fahrenheit, Bel Ami, Opium.
But I've noticed I love the creations of some other perfumers who have not been so...
Just checked, i've given 5 stars to 19,4 % of my wardrobe. (4 -star ones have much bigger percentage)
Fully agreed, the vintage, even the bottles from 90's are so much better.
I noticed the sarcasm as well right away, yet personally I don't see what's the problem with expressing the pure happiness of a fragrance and compliments.. that's what I understood the OP did in his...
Guerlain L'Homme L'Eau Boisée
Encre Noire Sport
Hilfiger Man Sport
The latter is a bit sweet, but not too much imo.
I second Yardley Citrus & Wood.
Terre d' Hermes EDT
Guerlain Homme L'eau Boisee
Encre Noire Sport
How about Idole Lubin EDT or EDP. Or Amouage Memoir Man. Third choice came to mind: Domenico Caraceni 1913 .
I recommended niches because they usually make a good signature (being not so commonly...
Calvin Klein Eternity Night
I don't remember how I like For Men, but Grey Vetiver I do own and I like it, it's one of the best vetivers I've tried. It's better than Guerlain's, Creed.... (Another vetiver that I like is...
I don't think the only reason to contribute here is to search for the "holy grail" for many of us members of the community. But I agree that there's no "The one", I don't believe in perfection in...
I agree that the case stinks. The fact that they didn't come up with a tracking information and they can't be contacted.... I guess you bet the right horse as you opened a pp case.
IMO if you ordered on 30th May, you are a bit too fast to open a paypal case and especially escalating it to a claim. There might be a good reason why your email have not been replied. Isn't...
I like tonka bean in fragrances, but it's easy to overdo, and in that case it can as well spoil the fragrance.
Yes I agree.
Bogart Pour Homme
I'm in the same boat, strongly disliking original Fahrenheit but find Fahrenheit Absolute a nice fragrance. It's just like you described: dark, spicy, has oud but also a toleratable vanilla. At...
I have matching deodorants of most of my favourite fragrances, and wear these. With the fragrances I don't have matching deodorant, i wear unscented antiperspirant.
This is the winner!
Antaeus is certainly there... as well Macassar.
Then maybe GIT, Bleu de Chanel EDP, Eau Sauvage vintage, Terre d' Hermes EDT
25 sounds great in the terms of the wonderfull smell of the scent but not so great as think of the price of this juice :lolk:
Received my first Millesime Imperial ; first a sample, then the full bottle. This is incredibly nice good smelling cologne... It's the kind of scent though that makes me want to spray it really...
I own both and a while ago was preferring EDT but I have slowly started to prefer EDP. It's a bit the question what you expect from this scent: EDT gives you more projection and it's a bit more...
Amouage Memoir Man
It's definetely a compliment getter, as well as AHS and Bleu.
Agree, thats the one first came to my mind. It's a bad smell, especially when over-applied.
I know only Silver Mountain Water, Aventus, Bois du Portugal and Green Irish Tweed.
The first is OK, second is bad, third is very good and the last one is excellent to my nose.
I count myself to the camp which don't accept hair (or any else human particles) in my food or fragrance. Though rationally thinking there's alcohol in the fragrance that takes care of the issue,...
Isn't all vanilla black? That's what i've thought. Black lavender, never heard/seen about that.
As a Francis Kurkdjian creation this is interesting.
The bottle in OP's post looks very fine to me. It'd be kind of shame if the fragrance in that fine bottle were not so good.
I might be wrong but I think M7 was reformulated already in 2008. Imo the reformulated M7 is still quite nice - but yes, it's a bit tamed down. Some ingredients were took off at least Mandrake...
