Its a great light fragrance when its the absolute peak of summer/flaming June
-too much Civet
-extremely smoky incense
-Narcissus/night blooming flowers in womens fragrance
Kilian - Straight to Heaven
Top Notes: Martinican rum absolute, dried fruits accord,
Middle Notes: Javanese nutmeg oil, hedione, cedarwood, Indonesian patchouli oil,
Base Notes: Ambergris,...
Creed's Pure White/Original Cologne is an amazing pear fragrance!
Tom Ford - Lavender Palm! instantly transports you to white sands and palm trees
Hi Jack, have you tried Prelude to Love by Kilian? It also has Amalfi Lemons, its beautiful!
Feeling like Neroli today, Jo Malone - Orange Blossom
Creed is a toady to state power, and the marketing revolves around some of the worst figures who lived off taxpayer exploitation.
Objectively, the end result however is consistently very good, so...
yup, that's the best part :)
Kilian Pure Oud - at first it smelled like rubber tires, and was very VERY disappointed. Tried it later on and experienced the full drydown and it was amazing. Easily the most fancy and expensive...
Jubilation XXV, although there are much better 'expensive' choices out there
and thank goodness for all the validation in this thread that the much talked about Black Afghano is really not very...
1. The office - Platinum Egoiste, it's very classy
2. A date - Egoiste, the basenotes of Vanilla and Sandalwood are very date friendly
3. A hot day in the city/summer scent - Allure Homme...
and rough tests of new samples on fingers:
Bond No. 9 - Scent of Peace (4.25/5)
Bond No. 9 - Montauk (4.25/5)
Bond No. 9 - High Line (3/5)
Straight to Heaven = Straight to the top 10! INSTANTLY
Its also very similar to Spice and Wood
By Kilian - Straight to Heaven
Martinican rum absolute, Dried fruits...
By Kilian - Pure Oud (cautionary note: do not blind buy this one!)
No Platinum Egoiste = Super sad face
"What do you smell a lot in Seattle?"
Some super fast impressions of Jo Malone samples:
Nectarine Blossom & Honey - 5/5
Amber & Lavender - 4.75/5
Sweet Lime & Cedar - 4/5
Wild Bluebell - 4/5
Vanilla & Anise - 3.75/5
finally found something similar to cK - Obsession but slightly better: Jo Malone - Amber & Lavender
WHOOOA  Orange Spice is discontinued if I am not mistaken. Congrats!!
agreed, while doing the daily flavour of the day sample at work, everyone unanimously disliked that fragrance lol
13x By Kilian samples
11x Jo Malone samples
5x Bond No. 9 samples
20x Frederic Malle samples
14x Tom Ford samples
Pure White/Original Cologne
need something uplifting for the Mondays
Ok, Chanel - Eau de Cologne will now have to be moved to high priority to try!
Tom Ford - Extreme, FANTASTIC Plum + Dark notes combo
Feel like smelling like rum today
Agreed, it's beautiful.
...I wonder if people are wearing it in the summer or some other time?
Antaeus - yeah that was not a good idea without throughly going through at least one sample vial first
Mugler Cologne - a great fragrance, just wasn't as great as its reputation
Have them both, I would say MI
-MI has the better opening and Bdp has the better drydown.
-MI is softer and unisex, Bdp is not
-MI is a conversation piece and a unique object of fascination, not...
My 3 favorite bonds are:
1. Signature - Females absolutely LOVE it. Tonka is babe magnet to begin with but the way its done here is amazing.
2. I <3 NY for Him
It's ok for the most part but the vetiver + ambergris drydown is amazing!
I <3 NY For Him - did not notice it until recently but the subtle leather note gives is great longevity for a light sporty fragrance
This is the only fragrance that I could recreate with essential oils.. Bergamot, Pine, Lavender and Clove.. that's it!
As per username and trying anything that's in a blue bottle:
Lacoste Essential and Erolfa
Creed's Original Cologne! It's a dream :engel017:
Owned DHS and own Allure Edition Blanche, DHS is linear and a fairly standard fragrance. Edition Blanche however is multi-faceted, unique and smells like big $$ niche grade quality.
All right here we go!
NAME / RATING
I like S&W, instead of the Pineapple + Oakmoss from Aventus, you have Apple + Oakmoss. Smells like big $$ money too.
Silver Mountain Water
A visual representation of the notes used in OS, sometimes this helps to really get a good handle on a fragrance.
This is a Creed that's completely Vegan! No Ambergris or Musk. Other Vegan Creeds are Windsor, Epicea and Royal Scottish Lavender.
After countless days of bothering people at work everyday with samples, I can tell what's good and what people like from their expressions regardless of what they say in words about that fragrance....
If you don't Kouros, you probably won't like anything else with Civet in it!
d'oh! Oh well, Africa is still good for Frankincense oils. If I remember correctly, Somalian Frankincense is one of the best in the world.
Hmmm, was always under the impression that it was feminine, as listed in the directory, but it could be unisex as well!
The Middle East is great for Oud and Frankincense oils
Black Orchid, also coincidentally my SOTE
First impression: Cheap laundry detergent
Drydown: An awesome Tonka and Vanilla! (both notes are babe magnets too)
A fragrance for women, Magie Noire! http://www.basenotes.net/ID10212059.html
Top Note: Blackcurrant, Hyacinth, Bergamot, Raspberry
Middle Note: Honey, Tuberose, Narcissus, Rose Oriental
GIT goes to bat for crucial big moment stuff like job interviews, etc.
all right now I'll finally *have* to try this DHI stuff lol
Put on Aventus, but forgot the 2 sprays of Kouros I sprayed 14 hours ago was still going strong. Will try Aventus again after a good scrubbing!!
The Travalo atomizers are very nice as well, very fast no mess! http://us.travalo.com/
OV has the same two notes in the dry down as GIT, Mysore Sandalwood and Ambergris. Except instead of GIT's Violet Leaves you have Vetiver. The drydown of OV is amazing.
The Mango note in Black and Double Black are awesome, either of those would be great. On other Polos, the Chocolate note in Big Pony #2 and the Pineapple note in the old Polo Sport are incredible.
Chances are anything with Grapefruit in it will be uplifting.
SOTE: time for some Civet and Tonka!
just tried M7 for the first time today, and yes it's a great oud!
Bond No. 9's Signature is also very good: http://www.bondno9.com/shop/eau-de-parfum/downtown/view/bond-no-9-signature-perfume
SMW is the better fragrance, but I'd get RD because it might be or is discontinued
MC and OV is similar at the start but OV dries down to Florentine Iris, Mysore Sandalwood and Ambergris. MC just fades away.
Not a blind buyer, so anything that's in a bottle is 5 stars.
Countless less than 5* samples though :)
The Holt Renfew at Yonge & Bloor in Toronto give me lots of carded samples as well as fresh decants with vials they have on hand *EVERY TIME*, as well as being very knowledgeable!
we have to be careful, as long complex chemistry at the boxes could just be natural compounds.
For example posts #6 and 7:
This winter it'll be Prada Amber PH
If you like CK Obsession or if you like the note Myrrh, you will like it!
In a stressful situation today, so I'm wearing DHS for the Linalool (main lavender compound)
Oliver Creed for both MI and GIT
natural oud is highly variable
When distilling oud oil or any other essential oil, not all the aromatic compounds that are present in the agarwood come out at the same rate. Certain compounds are...
Try adding one drop of the rose to your favorite designer fragrance decanted to 1ml that has the word 'Geraniol' (a major compound of rose) on the back of the box. It will smoothen the designer feel...
how about Tabarome Millesime, it has both the leather and tobacco
Top Notes: Bergamot, Tangerine
Middle Notes: Ginger
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Patchouli, ambergris Tobacco, leather
Owned both, Platinum Egoiste slightly wins out between these two, and an instant spot at the all time top 10.
really, that's interesting. this is a projection monster on me, receiving compliments from two different women the first time sampling it with only two sprays on my hand. Both of them were at a...
It's purely a woman's fragrance... for about 15 minutes. When the leather comes out it gets good. :)
Does anyone get coconut from the original Chanel Allure Homme? In that case it would be a great dark coconut!
Millesime Imperial! (any batch expect the ones that start with A33)
even though some people like A33
FYI, the batch no. is A3310K02. It's a 2010 bottle that is relatively heavy on the iris...
Same thing happened to me while wearing Silver Mountain Water. Sprayed it on, couldn't smell it on myself, made rationalizations and forgot about it. Then walking by someone hours later, they said I...
+1 it feels like you just pulled it out of the freezer and now you're spraying it on yourself!
Big Pony #2 is also very nice! http://www.basenotes.net/ID26131591.html
Lacoste Elegance is nice :) http://www.basenotes.net/ID26128598.html
imitation crab meat will always lose in the drydown, where the premium notes come in after the citrus
+1 as well as the Tonka, Vanilla and a ludicrously premium Indian Sandalwood
The white one is actually very good!
they should ban markers and photocopier toners as well.
1. Creed - Millesime Imperial (the correct batch #'s that start with C33 not A33)
2. Lacoste - Essential
3. Creed - Original Santal
A quick note for those near Toronto, the Yonge & Bloor Holt Renfrew has one 250ml flacon of Vetiver left, its very hard to find on the internet and its not available at the Creed website.
lol that's so awesome !
picked up some aquatics
Tommy Bahama - Set Sail St. Barts...
It's closer to sunscreen than lipstick, notably these 3 listed at the back of the box:
I got the sport, not quite understanding the DH and DHI fragrances.
After wearing D&G Pour Homme today, it dries down to pure sandalwood with tobacco, it is gorgeous. The Creed house has many Mysore Sandalwoods with great drydowns: Santal Imperial, GIT, SMW, OS.
Grey and safe!
Lost in translation from 'Eau De Toilette' for sure.
