Creed Spice and Wood
Why does age matter? My dad (69) isn’t really into fragrances but his current rotation is, I think, Aramis, something by Paul Smith, Spicebomb and Tom Ford Noir.
Guess who bought him the last...
Next, though m&s stock stuff like monotheme, crabtree & evelyn and others.
I love it, one of my top 5 I would guess. Not a noticeable compliment getter, but oud fragrances rarely are are they?
Not that much I wear ever gets compliments anyway.
AdP Colonia Intensa Oud
Firstly, AB Spirit Silver is VERY like Aventus, so don’t worry on that score. My nose must be far inferior to others on here as I struggled to tell the difference when I did a side by side, same with...
Prada Luna Rossa
Tom Ford For Men.
Pop into Boots or Debenhams, try a few, then have a look on www.allbeauty.com to see what is in your price range
A few suggestions that you may or may not be able to try first, but that wont break...
Any styles you particularly like/dislike? What do you already own? Is it for work? Going out?
Define cheap? Under £30? Under £50? And by shops do you mean bricks and mortar? Boots, Debenhams,...
Another vote for Pure Havane here.
I'd love some Spice and Wood but a full bottle is way out of my price range. Coromandel is definitely on my hit list though, and is expensive to me.
Pure Malt 2013
I asked this very same question not long ago and got pretty much the same answers.
I've tried a few, but a lot of them arent that easy to get hold of. I'm on the same hunt as the OP so I'll pass...
Saw this earlier and have been eager to try it as I love the edp and I'm getting low on it as well so this new release could have been good timing for me.
I tried the edt on the back of one hand...
It’s not a beast, but it’s certainly a decent performer, on me anyway.
I find incense fragrances quite relaxing, and whilst I have worn Avignon to work I seem to have gravitated to wearing it mainly for my own pleasure on an evening every now and then.
This is a strange one.
I tried it years ago and thought “Bleeeughh, what the hell is that”, and consigned it to the never to be bought group. It just smelled so wrong, I got the wet concrete vibe...
CdG 2 Man
I just assumed it was a company policy, presumably as someone had allergies. I’ve heard of it, but never actually come across anyone who has worked in one. More of a US thing possibly?
Lomani Intense Black
I can’t even begin to imagine my wife’s reaction if I told her I was taking a huge drop in wages so I could continue wearing after shave to work.
Underrated on here (imo) compared to others from the house but I love Dior Homme Eau, particularly for it’s versatility. It has the unmistakeable Dior Homme dna, but is fresher and lighter without...
Lots missing that I would like, but with around 30 full bottles and lots of samples I’m happy enough with my choices available. Don’t really see it as a collection, more a selection.
A, of course.
I wouldn’t change jobs at all, for any sort of reduction, never mind $30k or £30k, whichever you mean.
Nope. Cant afford to buy all the things I would like, never mind additional bottles of things I already own.
Yep. I thought the very same thing myself.
My plan this year had been to just buy a small number of more expensive bottles, probably waiting a couple of months before buying anything. Then I saw this was back in stock so pulled the...
Bleu de Chanel
Dior Homme Eau
Tom Ford for Men/Grey Vetiver/Noir
Prada Luna Rossa
Chanel Pour Monsieur
SOTD was Armani Code Ultimate
SOTE is CdG Avignon
Another wearing of the edp today and I have to say I prefer it to the edt. Not by much but it seems a richer deeper fragrance and definitely has more lasting power on my skin.
Projection is on a...
I love Noir edp, (I found the edt so similar from sampling it I never bothered getting it) and already find it a pretty powerful night time fragrance, so looking forward to trying this. Presumably...
Agreed, after the disappointment that I felt on trying Pure Wood I'm not excited. Looks like it will have a lot of the old Mugler DNA judging by the coffee and patchouli.
As with the poster above...
Lacoste L.12.12 Noir, from a sample.
Won’t be buying a full bottle.
2, 4 and 5 of those, but if u want fresh I'd recommend Dior Homme Eau over DHI.
M7 Oud Absolu
Most: TF Oud Wood
Least: Lomani Intense Black
This. Though I'd probably vote for the 212 myself. A bit similar to One Million I found, but a good solid night out compliment getter with huge projection on me.
I find incense fragrances such as Avignon or Montale Full Incense to be very relaxing.
SOTD was Tom Ford For Men
SOTE will be CDG 2 Man
Midnight in Paris edt
Decent enough inoffensive office type fragrance. I own it and wear it occasionally for work, but not one I reach for a lot. I got it cheap though, wouldn’t have paid anything like full price for it.
Another vote for Prada Luna Rossa. Also Dior Homme Eau.
Creed Spice and Wood
Adp Colonia Intensa Oud
CDG 2 Man
In that order. Of those I get big projection from all except the CDG. It projects, but isn't the beast that...
Get the Amouage, Lomani Intense Black, and some good gin with the money saved by getting the Lomani instead of the Creed.
That's how I would celebrate anyway!
I owned the edt previously but now have a bottle of the edp. I've worn it twice now and personally I'm finding it possible preferable to the edt. I always had longevity issues with the edt that I'm...
Murdock Black Tea, but might not be easily available for you.
Good shout. Pour Monsieur is on my wantdd list and I see it as work friendly.
Hmmmmm. Tried it yesterday and I'm on the fence. It's very sweet, don't love it, don't hate it. Seen it for a very good price in the UK if anyone is interested since I've decided not to bother. £24...
Bentley for Men Intense
Love CDG 2 Man, havent tried Timbuktu, and can't recall trying GPH, if I did it was a long time ago.
I found Penhaligon's Elixir reminded me of CDG 2 Man though I havent done a side by side test.
My top choice for work is Grey Vetiver, but if you dont like that then a few others may be Prada Luna Rossa and Bleu de Chanel (depending how they perform on you), Dior Homme Eau, Terre D'Hermes (go...
At the top of the list in the UK for some time. A long way clear of anything else as well I would guess.
I love incense fragrances but so far Sahara Noir just hasn't clicked with me. On the other hand I love the Montale. Habit rouge isn't like the other two so seems a strange alterative but I'll vote...
SOTD - Bleu de Chanel EDP
SOTE - TF Neroli Portofino (sample)
My wife is at work early tomorrow so it's a night in. Been dying to try the NP so gave in and gave it a go. Really liking it, just...
I'm guessing you like Bleu the most, but see that for the same price you could get two bottles you like almost as much? I've been there before and usually end up regretting not getting the more...
I don't really get to try much niche so my answer is the same as the other thread. Dior Homme Eau and Wonderoud.
Havent tried anywhere near as many as most of you but off the top of my head my own favourites would be Dior Homme Eau and Wonderoud.
Unreasonably harsh, condescending and downright rude. Personally I find it more a reflection on the type of person you are, rather than the OP.
No idea. I have a long term wishlist with a few on, so whichever of those I happen to see at the right price, or maybe I will be totally sidetracked again by something else I see at a good price.
Pure Malt 2013
Pure Wood was a big disappointment to me, probably as I was looking forward to it so much.
Box goes in the bin the day I open and wear the fragrance the first time.
Creed Millesime Imperial
Bleu de Chanel edp
Glad you are happy with it. It's a great one.
SOTE - CdG Avignon
Tried a sample and liked it. Didn’t find it as dark and earthy as many seem to say, nor did I get ink. On me it was pretty much just the vetiver. I may well get a bottle at some point as it very good...
Guerlain counter in John Lewis in Newcastle is no more. The one in Fenwicks seems a bit of an afterthought, had no LIDGE last time I was in, wonder if it lasts much longer? Chanel and Tom Ford are...
Tom Ford For Men
The rest are pretty much irrelevant to me.
Of those two TV, but TF does so many better, and, to me, wearable fragrances than those I'd think again.
Creed Royal Oud (from a sample)
Pretty much indistinguishable (in the opening and to my nose anyway) from my Lomani Intense Black.
One million. By a long long way.
Spicebomb, loud but not too loud, and a compliment getter to boot.
In the UK last Friday was “Christmas Jumper Day”. I didn’t participate but got myself noticed by wearing Armani Code Ultimate,...
I’m definitely aiming to go for fewer bottles this year after a real, by my standards, buying spree recently. The main one I’d like is Coromandel. Some others I’m contemplating
It’s my older ones, the ones I’ve had a while before I got carried away over the last couple of years and began building a more substantial rotation. Other than the 3 above it’ll be a...
Isn't it the other way round? The new one is the EDT?
Definitely a “less is more” one for me. Too many sprays of this one can ruin it as it then becomes totally overpowering. This and Tobacco Vanille are the strongest things I own. With both I only have...
I really like Wonderoud as well, that may be a decent one for a blind buy as the oud certainly isn’t a strong note.
Grey Vetiver, Spicebomb and Prada Luna Rossa.
Already bought some of the Prada as I saw it very cheap recently, may not have repurchased had it not been for the price but I find it quite versatile...
When I first tried CdG 2 Man years ago I just thought it was incense and couldnt imagine ever wearing it. As time has gone on and I've tried more and more different fragrances I retuened to it and...
Cant think of anything else I own that is similar enough to warrant a comparison. It's citrus and oud, far more oud than say Creed Royal Oud. It's very heavy, strong projection and lasts forever,...
Tried it in store ages ago and whilst I can’t remember the notes I do recall being unimpressed.
For versatility i.e. all year round, day/night, office etc. I’d go for these off the top of my head
Tom Ford For Men (just a shame it’s weak)
Tom Ford Grey Vetiver (my office favourite, but can be...
Whatever Santa has left for me.......
However as I chose it and ordered it myself it'll be Bleu de Chanel edp.
