    Fuzzy Smell

Would anybody know what I am talking about if I said some designer perfumes have a fuzzy sort of smell to them? I don't mean fuzzy peachy.

If so, any suggestions for which materials may help...

    Re: Celestolide

I was told that it was best to dissolve in DPG -actually bought some just for the job. But will try ethanol now.

Is there anyway I could salvage what i have already put in DPG?

    Re: Celestolide

Well, the heat appeared to help initially. The dpg became thinner and some of the solid seemed to dissolve. However, a couple of hours later and there Appear to be flakes in suspension now. I shook...

I am having a similar problem with dissolving celestolide in DPG. 5g of crystals in 45g of DPG. Both from heskerij. It has hardly dissolved at all. It just looks in suspension. I added have it...

Re: New project, lots of questions!

This is what the website says:

    Opoponax resin
Opoponax, also opop a nax is the resin of the sweet myrrh bush, botanically mainly Commiphora erythraea although it also (partly) of other Commiphora...

Re: New project, lots of questions!

I am about to try and dissolve the opoponax now but just wanted to check. The use of the word 'resinoid' above threw me a bit. Just to confirm, it is a hard solid and appears to have no moisture...

    Re: My first perfume!

Oops! Yes, I just checked and it's 193 -thanks for the correction.

    However, that's still 19.3 / (173.7 + 250) = 4.55 %

A stronger concentration but still quite small. Mind you, you are tight...

    Thanks Chris, very helpful.

    Another question:

I know it is recommended to get a good scale , but is there any reason something similar to this would not be a good idea:

    My first perfume!

OK, for my very first attempt I am very happy with the result. My family have mixed views -from 'yuck' to 'hmm, it's ok'. I think I may have become a little over-excited, anyway, here is the recipe,...
  12. Sticky: Re: DIY Suppliers List

Has anybody bought from this company?

    http://www.bonnymans.co.uk/products/shopfront.php

Their prices for perfumers alcohol, DPG and IPM seem slightly cheaper than Mistral Chemicals.

    Re: How much carrier oil?

I am also interested in experimenting with some non-alcoholic perfumes, using fractionated coconut oil as a base.

Is there a list somewhere of the materials that will not dissolve in oil?

Re: Create your own fragrance websites?

OMG. I just ordered loads of aroma chems and essential oils from hekserij.

Does this mean that it will be x-rayed and that this definitely destroys the scent?

    Really worried about this now.
