Here's my little collection:
Thank baby Jesus, for someone mentioned that. The drydown of Kouros has a very delectable note of honey. :)
Count me in. :)
Habit Rouge EDT by Guerlain.
Received a few compliments for wearing Black Aoud by Montale. This one sure is an attention grabber!
Got intense compliments on Terre D' Hermes (the EDT version).
While I rate it at 3 to 4 stars out of 5, I think that generally people tend to like this fragrance a lot.
I'm not a creed fan, and I've never felt the need to buy a bottle full of any of their stuff.
But, should we really turn this to a creed-bashing thread? Can we keep our opinions on Creed to...
By not providing google checkout, they've lost me as a customer. Earlier, I stopped buying from them after a few orders not coming through.
I started using them again since Google checkout...
I haven't smelled anything quite like it.
I don't care about the weather, and the following are the ones I usually reach out to wear for office. And certainly not all of them are "gentlemens" scent, but I don't worry too much...
Thank you gentlemen, this has now been posted as a blog entry. I thought it would be nicer to keep all my reviews collected in one place (well, I'd hope to write some more).
Thanks for the information about rose geranium, rogalal. Much appreciated.
Thank you for your kind words, hednic. I'm glad you found it interesting.
If my views could appeal, then I would try to write more in the future. Long live fragrance nerds. :)
Thank you, Sniff. I'm going to wear Encre Noire today as well. We've a meeting, and a Vetyver "aura" will do quite well. :)
1. Oscar Pour Lui (Misery bottled)
2. Stetson Pour Homme (Misery has company)
3. C&S Cuba (Distilled faeces)
6. D&G Pour Homme
7. One Man Show
Saripatates, I appreciate you for correcting me. I learn something new here every day, and I thought it's about time I stop lurking around and start contributing.
I was fooled to think it's...
Thank you, kccparis. I take it that you're generous in appreciating. :)
As a matter of fact, I gave it a long thought and decided that this is worth doing. I'm wanting to keep all my future...
Thanks DiamondFlame. As it turns out, English isn't my first language. Please discount the grammatical errors; I'll try to be better at that in the future.
Cologneist, as you correctly said,...
I've given the fragrance the time to grow on me, and have taken every measure to make sure that I sum up the scent neatly. But since this is my first "serious" review, please be kind...
Idole de Lubin
The ground water here is unjustifiably hard. I have a reverse osmosis water filter that converts it to soft water (and UV filters it so it can actually be consumed). I take some of this water, and...
Habit Rouge for open minded females.
Highness Rose by Montale
Une Rose by Malle
Exactly what he said.
The powdery element in Habit Rouge has a smooth and mild "rosey" edge, which gives it a slight baby powder feel. The vanilla in this one feels pure and alluring while it's settling down.
I'd politely like to point out that this thread is not to "bash" or praise any fragrance. The question is about what's widely accepted in basenotes (as to ADG being widely accepted by the less...
Opium Pour Homme by YSL.
Everything gets a minimum of 3 sprays (on different areas, of course). But I'm very careful about application with the following:
3. Encre noire
Azzaro PH. A classic that I learned to appreciate after taking a while.
Nothing is as much "powerhouse" as Kouros on my skin.
It's absolutely normal that you could simply not fall in love with any of the offerings from a particular house. Happens to us all now and then.
On the flip side, consider the rave reviews, and...
Can't get any more masculine than Kouros.
An excellent point. I've been a victim of this error. :)
I'll go with YSL.
Such a coincidence. I happened to try it today too, and while I haven't tried the original "Dior Homme" version, I think that there is a lot of chocolate going on in here for my tastes.
I owned the EDT and it was pretty decent for that price (got a 100 ml bottle for 18 USD).
It has a luxurious barbershop smell to it. It isn't groundbreaking stuff, but it smelled natural, which...
Gym, badminton court, and to the office some times.
Apologies for sneaking in my question here, but when you say 3 sprays, what are the spots? The standard, I'd assume to be wrist, chest and neck?
Does anyone here spray on the same place twice (as...
Dune by Christian Dior.
Extremely potent stuff (almost fully vetiver, that's powerful and sharp). A little goes a long way, and even a slight overapplication can give you a headache.
If applied lightly, this would linger...
A*Men smells just wrong. On the other hand, L'Instant is much more richer, complex and well crafted. Like Redneck said, try to get the EDP if possible.
Encre Noire by Lalique
Antaeus by Chanel
No. 88 by Czech and Speak
Edition Blanche is the freshest smelling Chanel I've ever smelled.
It isn't worth $100 to my mind.
Received a compliment on wearing Dune by Christian Dior.
SOTD: C&S Oxford and Cambridge
SOTE: Live Jazz by YSL
Try this stuff: http://www.scentmonkey.com/product.php?code=U-BB-1364. It's relatively cheap, and gets the job done. :)
My sympathy is with you on that. It lasts for 10+ hours on my skin, and it ACTUALLY projects through that time if I don't take a shower.
It also has the most barbarous, daring and unique opening...
Quorum by Antonio Puig.
The opening there is deceptive (although it seems to be strong, it gets surprisingly stronger as it develops). It's easy to over-spray this stuff and I've made that...
+1 for Fahrenheit by Christian Dior.
Hadn't known about their sampler pack. Thanks for the information, I just ordered it.
If you have two slots, you could fill one with Antaeus. It's an excellent fragrance.
I'd pick among the following for the next slot (my preferences in order):
1. Allure Homme Edition Blance
The dry down of Escada PH is very boozy.
Opium PH - IMHO it's far better than CK obsession (I've used both enough to tell this). Give it another try with an open mind.
Jazz - Underrated scent. I'd recommend that you try it. This one has...
Thanks The_cologneist for your post, I'll be soon trying Spirit! :)
They're two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT scents.
I find most of their stuff in their outlets here in India.
Easy choice: Terre D'Hermes.
It used to be good, but I never received the past 3 orders. Two of those, I claimed a refund with Google checkout, and with another order, I lost my money. And their customer service is ridiculous,...
That statement makes me feel better. I was wondering if I'm the only one to be vomiting because of that haphazard smell. :)
Ouch! That should have been an expensive lesson to learn. :)
With the sheer volume of love it has here, I think I should have traded it off in the market place instead of throwing it as a freebie to the cousin. But I'm sure he'll enjoy it, so I'm fine.
Well, I'd be sure not to blind buy a creed or anything as expensive though. :)
It could just be that this scent is associated with some bad memories in the past (someone was wearing this and smoking beedi in a train station?). I don't know, but I'm not going to stand this...
I think D&G PH is going to be the last fragrance that I've blindly purchased (based on online reviews).
The moment I sniffed this stuff, I was instantly reminded of garbage can, and beedi (cheap...
Hahaha. Good comment. :)
Both are good, but if I had to pick one, then it would be Dior Homme.
Very nice list. I'd add YSL Kouros to it.
Wise man! :)
Easy choice - Magnetism.
I believe Coolwater was released before GIT, so how can it be inspired by GIT?!
No offense intended, but the gentleman "A" thought Kouros is unisex?
ADG is slightly on the better side, but I'd spend my money on something that is less common AND at least as good or better.
It's usually 1, but if I've to go to the gym, then I'll use another one (most probably Kouros - nothing else stands the workout).
What he said!
I must admit that I haven't tried many neroli scents, but +1 on the Neroli Sauvage and it's on my to buy list.
It's an excellent scent!
Here in India, very, very less number of people wear cologne/perfume. I've smelled it on something like 2% of guys, and may be 5% of girls.
And if someone happen to see my wardrobe, they become...
Wow! I'll be sure to visit some of those perfume shops during my next visit there. :)
That definitely makes us abnormal, I guess. :)
50ml for $20?! Where? I'll do it too. :)
+1 on this superb suggestion. I got hold of this stuff just a couple of days back, and it really is a great bargain for the price!
Your job could have been much simpler if you had added a poll to this thread.
Bvlgari Black is good, but it won't stand a chance against Body Kouros in my world.
I had been to an Essenza di wills outlet recently and I tried a new cologne they had for display. It was known as "Mikkel".
The stuff hung around FOREVER. Was 24+ hours on my skin, and I may...
I've been meaning to blind buy this stuff for a while, and I think today is going to be the day. :)
Now, you guys are tempting me. That said, what would be your pick, if it should be just one, Mr. Cologne guy? :)
I tried YSL Pour Homme (the original) and while I'd agree that it smells very natural and 'good', I wasn't quite impressed with its longevity and projection. It smells too simple, and as you said,...
Impressed by: Hermes, YSL, Guerlain, Chanel
Disappointed by: Hugo, Armani, Ralph Lauren, Givenchy
OK, I give up on the "gentlemanliness" and even the price (i'm not bothered if one is much pricier than the other too).
I need your opinions on the comparison of these two. If one is more...
Thank you Ron. So, what I understand from your comment is that ES is far better, but the longevity of PM is better?
Snafoo, that's my mistake, sorry. I edited the post to indicate that it is not the concentree version. Thanks for sharing your opinions, I appreciate it.
Which one should I buy? Pour Monsieur or Eau Sauvage?
(with Chanel PM, it is NOT the EDT concentree, it's the Pour Monsieur version. I already have the concentree version, and I like it.)
