I love and own a bottle of Peau d'Espagne. Excellent performance for eaux de cologne, too.
I like it well enough.
The Bond No 9 bottles, in general, remind me of the pointy electric guitars from the 80s era. Bleecker Street's, in particular, reminds me of Steve Vai's swirled Jems:
Nasomatto Blamage is pretty powdery.
I wore Americana Rust for the first time yesterday and wow! It has a quality tobacco note with a little tar (cade?) around the edges in the opening. Then it's all tobacco for a while until a syrupy...
Tobacco, lavender, lily of the valley, cinnamon, jasmine, cumin, Lambrusco, pizzoccheri, goat blackberries, and a little bit of dog's hair. ;)
Osmose them from the mind into a bottle.
Carefully. I just had my very first accident while opening one a week ago (Andrea Maack Coven), and I dropped it and lost about 70% of it. :(
I'll echo the Shalimar suggestion, but it would be a tough daily wear as kumquat pointed out. Maybe one of the many vanillas by Comptoir Sud Pacifique.
Sephora would be excellent to get acquainted with more fragrances. If you're not sure whether they'll decant samples for you in Polska, it won't hurt to ask. Worst that could happen is you'll get a...
Eki, to me, opens effervescent and lemony. There is a salty quality to it, too, and I get a vibe of old-school powdered laundry detergent. In fact, it throws me back a few years to the days when I’d...
Thanks everyone. I'm not claiming to be the perfect on-topic poster, but let's reel the discussion back in to the sample pass as much as possible.
By the way, I am currently wearing...
Agreed. That was my whole intention with getting the thread back up. I was not looking for discussions about how some people dislike Frank Sinatra, how it's cool to charge $8 per ml because other...
I bought a pegasus to try to make my own personal version of Aventus. Sadly, it turns out that pegasus don't cry. I even tried pinching him... nothing. :(
I have to revisit this one. I haven't properly worn it since I got it, but it reminded me of walking to Bishops Park on a misty August morning when I was staying in London some years back. It's very...
D.S. & Durga's Burning Barbershop.
It's to keep basenotes from turning into a decant sales site... some perfume houses wouldn't take too kindly for that. I'd recommend that questions regarding the rules and guidelines of the split...
Where did the information of it being new come from?
Like remik pointed out, it looks like it's just an effect of the photo. It might just be that the pic was manipulated to give the liquid a...
This board is strictly only for the Discussion of Fragrances worn by and/or marketed to Generals. :bath:
Having that checkout option limits his shipping to the US, as he's mentioned in the MadHat Scents thread.
Considering that Antonio is located in Italy (and this is all speculation), setting up a...
I'm male. Who's going to do the domination? :engel017:
To be honest, I wasn't around at the time, so I don't know for sure. :lipsrsealed:
PS: There's a few other fragrances listed as launched in 200.
Beware: Alba by Profumum was certainly not launched in the year 200. ;)
Dropped these off a few minutes ago. You should be getting them by Friday.
I got mine from Fragrancenet. The NIB retail version (of Dia, not of Fragrancenet... ;)). I think I paid something like $180 for it.
PM me your respective addresses and I'll get them out to you in the next couple of days.
Whoa. Did you just join to claim the sample? :)
PM me your mailing address.
+1 for TF Tobacco Oud if you're after a realistic tobacco note.
Samples of the following are still available to members in the CONUS:
Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb - claimed by rare scents
Imaginary Authors The Soft Lawn - claimed by byandthrough
Same here. However, I haven't smelled any of them - I've come close to blind-buying but for some reason I haven't pulled the trigger.
You might want to give TF's Tobacco Oud a smell. It should be right up your alley.
DS & Durga Boston Ivy.
Your packages were left at the post office earlier and should get to you by Monday.
I sprayed it under my shirt, so I can't exactly be detailed, but what I smell reminds me a lot of Etat Libre d'Orange's La Fin du Monde.
This finally came in today after a UPS hiccup. I just applied half a spray to my wrist and won't get past the opening as I'm tired and ready to go to bed. There's an orange blossom thing going on...
Try Essenza Nobile and Aus Liebe zum Duft.
No worries. They're yours. PM me your address.
It's yours. PM me your address.
Sorry, I'd like to stick to the rules. I've already rejected someone via PM on the same ground, so I'd like to keep it fair.
Anyone interested, please claim by posting your choice on the...
You are right. I've only contributed to the "free to a good home" thread in the female forum but not this one, yet. You may re-offer the Anarquiste. I don't want it anymore. Thank you!!
I'd love to try L'Anarchiste.
Well, it looks like I'll have to wait another couple of days. There was a delay, as per UPS, on Friday, and it's nowhere to be found today. Oh, well...
I haven't worn Limed yet. Only smelled it on my fingers as the sample I received leaked a little bit (no biggie) and yes, it was really good! It reminded me of VIW somewhat, but amped up in...
This should be in my hands on Friday, as per the tracking info - looking forward to it!
I managed to get in on this one before the email was sent out. Now all that's left is waiting...
Repeat wears of the month were:
3 - Ex Idolo Thirty-Three, ELdO Rien, Fueguía Ballena de la Pampa.
2 - Creed Millesime Imperial, ELdO Tom of Finland, Slumberhouse Mare.
the re-released Jour de Fete has the older-style round caps.
PK Perfumes Cafe Diem.
Are you talking about the men's or women's version of Play Intense?
I sprayed it on my wrist a day or two after it was delivered to me almost two months ago. I remember it open with a pungent iris that slowly gave way to the almond. The vanilla-dominated drydown felt...
This one came in today.
It smells like Bishops Park in August.
I got an unboxed Jubilation XXV bottle from Fragrancenet earlier this week. No issues to report. Most of my Amouages come from Fragrancenet (including boxed, unboxed, and one tester) and I've been...
How is it? I almost blind-bought it a couple of weeks ago.
I wonder how different from Wonderwood this is going to be.
As long as they are not reformulated with a lot of synthetics.
Thanks for reminding me. I'd been meaning to look this up.
I have never thought of Millesime Imperial as sweet or within the 'night' context. Therefore, by elimination...
It doesn't look like that's the case in the US. :(
Speaking of, Mare is my scent of the day. I immediately thought of it when trying to decide what to wear for a day out at the park.
Keep in mind, it'll take you a lifetime to go through 8.7 oz
I haven't worn it in a while, but Midnight in Paris was the first thing to pop in my head for "powdery."
I think the only cologne I have is Santa Maria Novella's Peau d'Espagne. That was $135.
Enchanted Forest by The Vagabond Prince. I don't like it.
I wouldn't say they're unpopular. They're just not as discussed here as ample discussion and information on them is readily found elsewhere.
I like the friendliness of the extrait. I feel like it's an undercover situation with the fragrance - a challenging composition, by most crowd-friendly standards, that I can just spray on without...
I, too, am of the opinion that VIW is a gourmand.
Most things with "oud" in their name. Not the material itself, but it seems that a lot of people subscribe to the "If it's oud, it's goud" idea whenever a new such fragrances pops onto the radar.
I think linden would definitely have to be somewhere in the mix. Hops... in my mind there should also be something that gives a nod to glasswork - perhaps a metallic effect. I'll have to think about...
That quote popped in my mind immediately after spraying myself with Tom Ford's Tobacco Oud at a Neiman Marcus a month or so ago. It settled down quite nicely after a few minutes. :)
Because it rhymes. ;)
I find it easier to keep track of caps if left on the bottle. ;)
Last I heard, mimielle was going through both this and the PK sample pack. Perhaps she's giving her nose a break.
In the meantime, here's my take on how the two versions of Vikt compare:
Those are the best of buying experiences. :) Even clueless SAs that don't try to sell themselves as subject matter experts can make for a delightful store experience.
I share this point of view. Particularly with sites like luckyscent where the customer has a say in what complimentary samples to receive. Looking at what is available to sample adds to the fun...
This is another one.
I've visited the site a handful of times, but the "surplus wholesale vendor" look to it has prevented me from exploring it further.
Aha. This explains why some of my historic information was lost (it currently only dates back to February). Is this something that will be remedied, or will the capability of looking back at scents...
Bonus commandment: Thou shalt give a bang commensurate to your buck.
Mare, Encre Noire, Windsor, Bottega Veneta...
The first time I went to Nordstrom to shop for fragrances. It was a while back and I popped by specifically to look for L'eau d'Issey pour Homme (preferably the intense version, if they had it). I...
While exploring the website, I couldn't help but wonder what a Bohemia-themed fragrance inspired by the Karlštejn Castle would smell like. I also thought about a fragrance having to...
I'd say I do 1 spray with about 20% of the fragrances I own, 2 to 3 with about 50%, and 3+ with the rest.
One of the attendants (Kitty), makes her wooing reporter buy L'Heure Bleue for her to get out of the doghouse.
It's a toss between Slumberhouse Mare and Rien by ELdO.
Special mention: Fahrenheit.
I might get hanged for blasphemy, but I actually prefer it to Green Irish Tweed - although they are basically the same thing.
I started late on this one.
Yesterday, I wore Eau de Froeliche No. 3. At first sniff I encountered a loud and realistic grapefruitiness that upon a second take revealed itself to be citrus,...
I liked Lyric a lot on paper but all that vanished when I tried it on skin. Portrait of a Lady is simply gorgeous.
Same here. I only briefly smelled both and didn't care for Black.
If smelling like Sweet Tarts candy is your thing, I don't think you will find another fragrance that comes close.
A little birdie told me that there's a new fragrance on the horizon which will be presented at the end of May during the Smell Festival of Bologna. It's based on oriental woods, incense, and green...
La Fin du Monde
