Check out some of the Hermes feminine range.
Bel Ami Vetiver at over 20% off? Yes please!
It's OK. But nothing special. It's like a mature Le Male but somehow remains just as obnoxious!
100ml of Timbuktu for £30. Nice stuff at that price!
My favourites at the moment and in no particular order:
Eau Savage EDP
Rive Gauche is the 'better' fragrance in my humble opinion (once it dries down) but both are great - if you can you should acquire both as you'll have a couple of real masculine classics.
Some great suggestions above but I'll add Habit Rouge l'eau
Another vote for Sahara Noir
Purchased, Thanks for the info sir.
Stigma? The stigma of smelling nice? If a lady puts a stigma on a man having a cool hobby involving fragrance, then perhaps she's not open minded enough to warrant any more of your time.
Either one of these will smell great - just use the one though as they will likely develop over time into an expensive and overpowering fragrant mess, especially to those in close proximity to you...
I believe a more 'clean' fragrance for beards and vice versa without - in contrast to what other have said above. How about Neroli Portofino layered with the new beard oil?! Vastly over priced but a...
How about Lalique l'hommage? Classy violet.
I personally prefer DHI - both great scents though!
Habit Rouge l'eau
Tom Ford Sahara Noir
Great fragrance. One of the best of its genre. I wouldn't pay that for it though; Just picked up Sahara Noir at a discount that has made it considerably cheaper per ml and there is no way Neroli...
Cool blog too, AndrŤ!
I'm pretty sure Escentual.com will do world-wide delivery from here in no so sunny Wales! They have it at a good price (I got a bottle of the EDP from them) and it's a great store. Check it out.
Such a darn good fragrance. If i didn't have a mortgage it would be one of my first purchases
Great every day fragrance. In fact, I'm working away at the moment and it's the one fragrance in my bag keeping my laptop company!
A good fragrance but not spectacular. Dries down to an interesting cold metallic floral scent which I do like but it's nowhere near the original and on a different planet that the original EDP! Great...
I absolutely think the OP should continue to chase this up with them as they are usually very good!
Off the record, I live about about 1/2 mile away from Escentual (or central pharmacy) and they...
What's wrong with an online company also being a chemist in Cardiff? what difference does this make and have you ever been there?
agreed. I have many of the mentioned and none come close to it.
I made the mistake of purchasing Black Intensive Aoud (at a discount) it's not intensive, neither does it have any noticeable aoud. It's an ultra-feminine turkish rose and now a Xmas gift to my...
In one of those notes that can smell divine in moderation but very disagreeable when over done. Saying that, Tom Fords new potion is so masterfully balanced I'd soak myself in it!
Declaration l ' eau
Ambre Sultan for me
Anyone else tried this? I'm curious about this one, so any opinions would be appreciated!
Great fragrance. Wait for the dry-down; the compliments will follow shortly after.
Cillian Murphy as he is not overly masculine looking with some effeminate features, while still being an obviously handsome fellow. I think it would create an interesting contrast mixing someone like...
DHI by a mile. Try Guerlain L'instant Extreme before you make any purchases though, it's a bit of a game changer. Serge Lutens' Chergui is also brilliant and will fill all of your criteria.
The key to this one is moderation; one spray under clothing is enough to radiate a very rich, provocative and definitely unisex scent (compliments galore from strangers in my experience) Over spray...
More info on this can be found in the 'Corrupt Bankers and Bored Dictators' monthly publication, under the headline 'Vulgarity Never Smelled So Good'
Boucheron Jaipur EDP and EDT
You cannot go wrong with these.
Hermes Voyage eau de parfum
Chanel Egoiste & Platinum Egoiste.
Guerlain l'instant & l'instant extreme
Guerlain Homme Intense
Dsquared2 Potion eau de parfum
Prada Amber Pour Homme...
To me, Opium PH EDP is just head and shoulders above anything vanilla centric that I own, including Tobacco Vanille. But it goes without saying that I have not sampled some of the finer liquids as...
Pal Zileri Cuoio - VERY similar to Tuscan Leather at silly low prices in the UK at least.
Roger & Gallet L'Homme 100ml plus Kiton Men 125ml, both at under 1/2 price. Nice way to end the month!
Well judging by how astronomically huge the male fragrance business is, these people seem to be in the minority. Brief anecdote: I worked with some hard as nails cage fighting doorman who begged me...
all my initial suggestions have been mentioned above!
i'll just add Guerlain homme intense.
I just blind purchased this on the basis of it being less than half the original price on their website as I assume it's a limited edition coming to the end of its run.
I'm just curious to know if...
Narciso Rodriguez Musc/Parfum!!
Platinum Egoiste to me literally smells like money.
Floris Elite to me smells like a rich English banker - as the name suggests
Both are great fragrances
Same here. Pay the extra and go for the EDP. Though it's rather expensive, the quality is blatantly evident - As with the Terre d'Hermes EDP.
Opium EDP. Oriental perfection!!
The opening of Tobacco Vanille is the best of the line in my opinion; it's absolutely wonderful, but I find dries down to something quite unremarkable perhaps. I have a few cheaper vanilla orientated...
Dior Oud Elixir Precieux perhaps? Not that I've ever tested it in fact, has anyone tried it?
For the past month...
Guerlain Homme l'eau Boisee
Just purchased the EDP at a huge discount and I'm very impressed. Sweet fruit with woods and a nice caramelised dry down; a perfect autumnal scent at the price. If this was in the Tom Ford/Hermes...
One of the most versatile fragrances I know of! It exudes class.
This reminds me to get another bottle of Burberry London. Such a great value scent for the colder months.
I like the Eau Savage soap, though I'm sure you can get better at a lower price point.
I also own this. Very nice and of very high quality. Starts of a very feminine Turkish rose then turns into something more masculine in the base after a few hours. Very creamy/sweet and dense with no...
Thanks Hednic. I'm just being very vigilant with 'too good to be true' prices that sometimes appear when browsing. I'm sure a few of us have pulled out of a potential bargain due to that lingering...
I have seen various brand new 100ml Montale bottles floating around at between the £70 - £80 (GBP) price on both Ebay (UK sellers) and UK based independent retailers
Aoud Musk 100ml for £70 sounds...
Would Kenzo Pour Homme fit the bill?
As others have said, it's OK but nothing special, I like the direction it goes in but it seemed rather half-hearted I'm sure a more concentrated and focused version, which enhanced some of the...
Guerlain l'instant Extreme has to be up there and i'll add Eau Savage EDP a close second. Rich, well blended with obviously good ingredients.
If Azzaro Pour Homme was made with some less synthetic...
Costume National Homme. Fruit, woods and serious performance.
Costume National Homme. Fruit, woods and serious performance.
The Lalique is a great everyday fragrance. Works well in more humid/hot weather (for me) too.
YES. Though its a toss up between Royal Black and L'Instant EDP for me.
It's a really good one for a cheap Italian style scent. Easy to wear and reasonable quality. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you go for this as it's discounted everywhere. I smashed though my 125ml...
Closing the month with:
Boucheron Pour Homme Fraicheur edition
Aramis Calligraphy Rose edition (in transit)
Another one for Antaeus. i'll add Costume National Pour Homme if you want a different, more fruity direction than the others above - Amazing projection and longevity too.
If you want to be REALLY...
Thanks for your take Hednic. The Boucheron fragrance line seem to be of a better than average quality too, so at around half price it seems like a minimal risk!
I'd love to get my hands on a bottle of this
Hey, I own both and I'd absolutely go with the Hermes for a hot summer. I really enjoy The Cartier, it's a very well done masculine rose scent but I (personally) would find it a bit too sweet/strong...
Does anyone own this? I would appreciate your take on it if so. Cheers!
I own all of these and my pick would be the Cartier. It's a nice non synthetic grapefruit, perfect for summer. The Bvlgari fragrances are very well done salty authentic aquatic fragrances but...
Well the very kind sales assistant gave me FIVE spray sample vials of the new Hermes with my Cartier purchase, but unfortunately my nose is too tired to do a side-by-side! Both are VERY good though,...
Hey guys, Just picked up a 50ml of this and so far I'm impressed.
On my skin it turns to a straight-up genuine pink grapefruit, quite natural and pleasant.
It has a tropical fruit feel with a...
i'll make an effort to seek this one out on my lunch break tomorrow.
I'm gonna go for Guerlain Homme L'Eau Boisee as others above have. It's Brilliant.
I only have about 40 bottles so nothing like the collection of some of the guys above, but I do tend to rotate them all. Some days I smell better than others I guess but at least I smell interesting...
Rive Gauche (original formulation)
Azzaro Pour Homme
Lagerfeld Photo was torture. Currently being weaponised for crowd control.
One spray of the parfum will be ok. To me it makes a drastic change from a resinous/citric scent to a sweet toffee! It's a brilliant fragrance and one of the most complimented on me
Nino Cerruti L'Essence de Cerruti is a BRILLIANT casual sweet leather for the price. The bottle classy too. Nothing about it is cheap apart from the actual price
Blatant product placement by Mr. Ford. I wonder how much he paid them?
I own it and love it. Crowd pleaser for sure along with great lasting power. Best used in moderation though.....
I think Lutens' Chergui and perhaps Guerlain L'instant extreme fits what you're after. Also, try Eau Savage edp (wait for the dry down) and Prada Amber Intense. I love some Tom Ford stuff but side by...
Guerlain L'homme L'eau Boisee. It's near perfect.
Dsquared2 Potion Royal Black just gets better every time I sample it, so goes tip top of my list. Others include Guerlain Homme intense and another Cartier perhaps.
Although they are VERY different in construction, I get the same sweet yet masculine feeling from Bentley Intense and also Chergui.
Same here. Its not bad as such, just not that good and absolutely not my 'style'
HUGE amount of compliments on this one. One female colleague sprayed some on her wrist and another male colleague went out and bought 50ml the next day. Its very 'safe' but a huge crowd pleaser.
As he said, Anything Chanel, especially edition blanche but maybe not Antaeus.
I noticed a store quite local to me sells the Zegna exclusive line, i'm curious to try them (despite there standard frags being of poor quality)
We're at the end of March now and I've made a few purchases since January, including Egoiste, Lalique Hommage and Bentley Intense (all of which are fantastic) but I'd just like to throw it out there...
Thanks guys. Thinking it may be a good idea to sample as much as I can, then take time to make a logical decision and buy online!
I'm looking for something rich, deep and powerful; something for the weekend, and i'm in London next week with a small window of time to seek and sample.
I love the likes of Ambre Sultan and...
A risky one but i'd go Antaeus (in moderation)
