The current formulation of HABIT ROUGE would be just fine with me.

The current formulation of HABIT ROUGE would be just fine with me.
I have a bottle of Goutal's SONGES that turned from light yellow to bright orange and bottle of Creed's VANISIA that has turned dark like maple syrup. Both still smell great but the orange does stain.
There have been some great fragrance names throughout the years but when I saw this in the directory I figured this probably trumps them all:
Toilet Brandy (1935)
by Jean Patou
Got the body wash, got the pins & that 256k thumb drive. They always come out of nowhere so it is a nice surprise even though I only got use out of the body wash. I just got a mailer telling me to go...
vertatre, I tried replying to your PM but all I got was an error saying you don't want to or can't receive PM's. I have no idea what that's about. Is your inbox full? :-)
I love the background music.
I had been working my way thru my last bottle of vintage ANTAEUS when it dawned on me that once it was gone I'd be bereft. So I took the bottle out of wearing rotation and blind bought a new bottle....
Just a warning that this post is probably a rant more than anything else. :-)
I was casually browsing the Chanel site yesterday and was very surprised to see what I consider a rather large price...
At least the Egoiste is probably actually a fragrance.
It seems the Shalimar is a big bottle of hair tonic. http://www.basenotes.net/threads/231652-Lotion-Vegetale
It sure sounds interesting. I don't recall ever hearing or seeing anything like it. I'm sure I would have remembered (and probably have bought) "Lava Crystal Scent" with sand in the bottle! Sounds...
Looks good and I bet it smells great!
I was just looking yesterday at the multiple dirt cheap Chanel No. 5 EdP being hawked on Ebay. There was a new listing for $39.99 for 100ml. It was flying out the door even though the seller had...
I don't like the frag but I really enjoyed the pictorial breakdown. Very informative.
Amazing to see the contrast of the great vintage packaging compared to today's paper thin cardboard of most...
Chanel CUIR DE RUSSIE
This was a wonderful read. I wish I thought of collecting minis long ago just for the space savings alone! Your "reaching back in time" analogy really resonates with me. It reminds me of why I fell...
I hate to eat anything that tastes of clove but the smell is another matter. I'm always disappointed when perfumers insist that carnations smell like cloves. LOL. The only carnation frag that I ever...
Congrats on your purchase and welcome Harry. I will be interested to hear about your experience with MdM once it arrives. I came to it by way of my love for JICKY whose kinship to MdM is readily...
Thanks to the mention of the Dillard's sale in the discount/coupon section I just got a Shalimar gift set and a Prada Amber Intense gift set. Happy New Year!
Perhaps MdM's shopping sprees on "evilbay" are the reason JICKY (with every nose imaginable) is now so frakkin' expensive. JICKY's new look frightens me and I have mostly steered clear. The only...
I got carded samples from them too. Boxed for the Opus ones. All sprays.
It reminds me of a new suede coat more than anything. It also lasts forever. Worth looking into if you find the original is just too "much".
It is my favorite masculine Prada frag. Wonderfully understated. I hate the original and I am pleased as punch that this is nothing like it.
Wow. Very happy to see 2 of my all time favs: M7 & Rive Gauche coming around again.
So full of wisdom AND he can quote Edina Monsoon! What CAN'T you do Mdm??
I have never tried this dude. And I really never knew about applying fragrance to facial hair until I spent some time researching a recent obsession with oud. Our friends over in the our group are...
Inspired I have added my own signature.
A response to my email indicated they do not ship to Hawaii as they only ship by air. Thus ends my quest. Maybe I'll buy another leather bottle to ease the hurt.
Primrose, I've read mentions of the reformulation on a few threads here. A couple of them would be:
I adore JICKY in all its forms. Ever since reading MdM's review my enjoyment of it has grown as now upon application I hear in my head someone exclaiming "It smells like feet!". It never fails to...
Ooooo shiny and smelly! LOL.
I wonder if this Cavalier carries the previous or current EdP formulation? I'm not sure it would matter, the bottle is so pretty.
I've been shopping their F&F sale for years and there has never been any brand restrictions. Enjoy.
Yep. I used twitter to ask them why they featured the TASTE OF FRAGRANCE on their website but couldn't buy any. That notified them of the glitch and they fixed it. Yay for @MuglerCircle!
I guess I'm glad these all have been removed from the Mugler store as I probably would have done some shopping. PURE HAVANE is still available for those so inclined.
Decades ago (you heard me!) when all I could afford were drugstore frags this was probably the best smelling thing out there. If I recall it had a male model complete with "dry look" and...
What a great post. Thanks for sharing your epiphany.
Trefle Pur is my favorite. It always reminds me of Spring. Longevity is fabulous.
What a bummer to have to deal with such arrogance on such a beautiful day. What is going on in the fragrance biz? Time and time again I read posts from people who simply cannot get a sample. In this...
London is beautiful. Enjoy.
The original and subsequent flankers all kind of smell the same except for the "Fresh" iterations. I like 'em. Spin the wheel, pick one, and have a nice smelling complement getting readily available...
Much congrats! It is one of my all time favs. Enjoy.
I wear it and love it. I generally just use one spray, occasionally two. It is perfectly unisex with that fresh mega jasmine sambac opening leading to the hours and hours of the white amber dry down.
It ranks up there with one of the most beautiful things I have ever smelled. It never fails to make me feel happy and longevity is fine as well. I've tried the flankers but nothing beats the original.
I think he is way off.
L'instant PH is just dandy in the heat and humidity.
ICE*MEN is my favorite but from the list I guess the original is best.
KAI perfume oil & Jo Malone VINTAGE GARDENIA come to mind.
He said it! He said it! lol
+1 on the Mugler Cologne and a vote for any of the Gendarmes.
I really enjoyed the "I do not know if I love it". Did you read your own review? YOU LOVE IT! :)
HONOUR MAN and WOMAN have shot to the top of my must try list. Thanks for thoughtful review.
Lyric, Dia, and Ciel are my usual hot weather Amouage EdPs simply because they are my favorites. The Amouage Attars also work well in the heat. I've even worn OPUS IV in all its peppery incensey...
I thought I was saving up for OPUS IV but I will have to try these first.
I've never smelled it but it is a great name for a perfume.
Sorry Guerlain but it was HABIT ROUGE. It didn't smell lousy which made the effect even more bizarre. Just a couple of sniffs and I was ready to heave. This was decades ago so I'm not even sure what...
+1 on the loving Amouage.
And why in the world would you single them out? Perfume advertising is nothing but outlandish hyperbole.
Complain to the Better Business Bureau and blog about it every chance you get. Refusing service in this economy? What a jerk.
I bought Trefle Pur on the spot when I first smelled it. Perfect for warm weather. Lasts all day and then some. It never loses its fresh appeal.
Original Colonia. Was my SOTD in fact. I like it because it is one of the most beautiful things I have every smelled.
The beautiful understatement of DIA is one of the things I love most about it.
ENGLISH FERN is really great. Nice to see it getting some love.
Very good news that there will be a reliable US source for the attars.
I love M7 and really don't know anything similar. If you find you love that Oud note you really owe it to yourself to explore it further either by starting with frags by MONTALE or delving right...
JICKY (all versions) and Eau Du Coq are my favs that I wear anytime.
I wish Costco sold Amouage! LOL.
LYRIC MAN from Amouage
Mark me down for Amouage LYRIC MAN.
I own lots of rose frags, and have smelled even more. I love many of them dearly but it is currently LYRIC that has me singing.
It is unabashedly clearly and...
I am with you Mazeltov! Saying TRIBUTE is has an almost narcotic effect is spot on. It is also one of the sexiest things I have ever smelled and if I am not smelling it I want to be smelling it....
M7 for me, CHERGUI for my SO. Works out perfectly.
Well yes you did indeed get my attention!
From various reports of possible JICKY reformulation, some might say the main product has already been made into a "sport" form of the original. Can the...
+1 on Amouage TRIBUTE.
Creed TABAROME (once the ginger opening burns off)
Trefle Pur remains one of my favorites. It smells wonderful. Fresh, clean, natural and simply lasts forever. The bottles of this line are huge and the perfume oil concentrations are high making it an...
If you heard angels singing while smelling his fragrance it was most certainly the original COLONIA. :)
Oooo an oldie but goodie. I haven't worn that in years. Her "M for men" was also nice.
Love SAMSARA and 10 CORSO COMO.
The Big Island ain't bad either Hey.its.me! The Hawaii Visitors Bureau thanks you.
As for the OP, I would probably use the money to splurge on an Amouage like Homage or Tribute. In fact you could...
Own and wear both but I only have backups of M7 so that's what I voted for.
LOL. Seriously! So many rules. Imagine what a chump you'd feel like reading this only to find you spent good money on a "batch" that hasn't been officially sanctioned by basenoters as good?!...
I never tried that but I immediately thought of Fresh's CANNABIS SANTAL which to me has a strawberry note that doesn't quit. It may be of interest to you.
M7 is one of my all time favorites. If I am forced to I can small the cherry cough syrup thing but only in the opening. It is warm and spicy with that commercial "oud" prominent basenote. I always...
If you love lavender, AROME 3 is certainly one you have to try. It smells great, and wears very well. It stays fresh and strong for quite a while. It also skips added vanilla a la Caron PUH which is...
I own it but I don't wear it much. It wasn't the first frag overhyped here and it won't be the last. It was the first, in my recollection, to get a subforum which will forever be a head scratcher in...
Get thee to Barneys and Guerlain and pick out your new scent!
I own and love JICKY in all three concentrations AND I own and love MdM so I am not great with the "either, or" scenario.
But I did buy MdM first mainly because I was in the Guerlain Boutique and I...
OH MY Gah.........!
What a catastrophe!!!!
You knew there was a chance I'd be stopping by and you put cooking sherry in the Cognac bottles???!!
Boy you really do have my number.
And oh yes. The...
My CVS has it too.
As Dimi and Luna go about their business, Loungeboy quaffs the last of the cognac from his unusualy large snifter. Sauntering over to the long overlooked and discarded JICKY cast aside by MDM, he...
It is one of my most adored frags. I own all 3 concentrations and appreciate each one for what it is because all three really are variations on the theme.
I still have to say it is not a safe blind...
Loungeboy has poured himself a rather large cognac and pokes at MDM in between sips with the shiny tip of a walking stick he found in the hall closet on his way in.
"Wake up", he murmurs mindlessly...
Stay away from the light mdm!
You gave us quite a shock MDM; and yet it seems unequalled to yours!
I think I'll need a bourbon (or two) myself to maintain a satisfactory New Year's calm.
Cheers to SOS for his valiant...
Happy New Year to one and all!
Welcome! Nice to meet you.
I am well acquainted (and stocked!) with Jo Malone's AMBER & LAVENDER bath oil. It was my first JM purchase years ago and remains a favorite. Lately I have been accentuating the "fern" aspect...
I suddenly feel so inadequate. The measly amounts of toilettries I "consume" are almost shameful! Somehow I feel like I should be powdered up like a giant Russian tea cookie. :)
I too have seen that...
I am resolved that I will make no fragrance purchases AT ALL in 2011.
A year of using what I own will hardly make a dent in my collection.
Very much like JICKY itself, this post both repels me and attracts me. :)
Just click on MDM's name in this thread and you'll see a "view forum posts". That's how I found it.
Had I not already been head over heels for JICKY your review in the directory would have made me so. I am so pleased to have learned so much about the background of this masterwork.
