Le Labo Patchouli 24. Horrid.
Gotta agree with Anton. Tried this yesterday along with several others, and it was the clear winner. I really enjoy the original, and this is a great flanker.
For designer and some niche, I really like LilyDirect.com
Thank you VERY much for this. Any idea when the code expires? Looking to pick up a bottle of #33 for the summer time.
Golly! Thanks for the kind words, everyone! :)
Hawky: It's an ambery-vanilla scent, and I really think that if you like Midnight In Paris you'll like this one too. To my nose, the two certainly...
Hermes L'Ambre des Merveilles giftbox from Ross. $38.
Also had some good luck with a gift set. Found Hermes' L'Ambre des Merveilles EDP at Ross, marked down to $38. Certainly unisex, leaning a bit towards femme during certain points in its...
He lost me at pulse points.
After collecting for about 6 years, I've gotten a hankerin' to dip my toes into vintage waters. Okay....maybe not vintage vintage, but from what I've read it seems the Aramis Gentleman's Collection...
Some great lines mentioned already, but my vote goes to Guerlain's Homme series.
46 degrees? Close enough to Spring for me!!
Carthusia Mediterraneo. It's my "Summer-Has-Finally-Come-To-Chicago" fragrance. I wear it that one day a year when I feel crappy weather is safely behind us.
CK IN2U Him
Givenchy Pour Homme (blue bottle)
I wear these duds just so nobody feels left out in the rotation. :)
Ummmm....Really? It's going for $50 in Turkey??
...but we'd have you no other way.
Bought 27 full bottles in 2014. Faves would have to be:
Lalique's Hommage and Pd'E Corsica Furiosa.
They were at the Michigan Avenue Chicago location for a time, but they're now gone. The "men's" section there has really been scaled back.
^^ Pretty much agree with MegaMav's review. I thought it had a nice opening, but then....blah.
Keep it, sir....it's a fine scent, although I prefer the Soir flanker.
Oh -- And welcome to Basenotes!! (This coming from a roadie!! :) )
So glad you're digging this one, Bark. I've never bothered settling on a signature scent, but if I ever did L'Hommage would be a very strong contender. Excellent offering from Lalique (again).
Excellent review. Definitely has my interest piqued.
Damn. Definitely buying backup(s) of Homme.
Wow! Nicely done, bokaba!!
Sorry, but gotta +1 this. Plus, I can't get past his pronunciation of the word "fragrance."
I agree with Detox above -- So many reviews are simply too damn long. Outside of doing a Top 10 or Top 20, I think these guys would be doing themselves a favor to edit their reviews into the sub-5...
Love this one as well. Enjoy, Russlan!
Purchased mine off the BN Marketplace back in June of 2014, so no idea how "old" it truly is. But I'd say it's definitely on the fresh & lively side.
Also tried this at Sephora. Wow! Pomelo Paradis does for grapefruit what Orange Sanguine does for orange. Very realistic, tart, and "juicy." I'll definitely be considering this for Summer 2015.
I've read so many raves about this one. Pretty sure you could re-sell it without too much loss, though.
Two great suggestions that won't break the bank.
The finest songwriter on the world stage today. Mr. Morrissey.
Niche: Odori Tabacco
Designer: Mugler Pure Havanne
Budget: B&BW Mahogany Woods
+1 on Prada's Luna Rossa. First thing I thought when I read the heading.
A lot of people opt for the refill sets. You're fine.
Without question, the smartest post ever to grace BaseNotes. Akahina, you are 100% dead-on right.
Never felt a pang of guilt spending what I do on this hobby, except when I look at my IRA and...
David Yurman Extract.
I've only sampled Patchouli 24, and it is the ONLY fragrance I've ever felt I'd have to shower off. The initial stages are incredibly rough-going, and the dry-down ain't nuthin to stick around for.
Gap's The Original.
David Yurman Limited Edition Extract. Bottle is simply beautiful.
Random here as well. Whenever a good deal pops up.
Last year I purchased 27 bottles, so basically 2 bottles a month.
Halston Man Amber
Kinda, but I get more fresh-pack-of-cigarettes from Hommage. (But this is coming from a non-smoker).
Wow...that's an incredible freebie!! Nice job, BB. What does that bring the 2015 budget down to?
Yup. Think you might've nailed it, Rich.
Oh Damn!! :)
Well in that case, I'm assuming it will be on the warm side. In order of expense:
Guerlain Homme (or any of it's flankers, for that sake)
Kenzo Power Cologne
I agree -- Gooood stuff!!
Kinda an oddball from 2003. Nice write-up here:
Yes it is!
Cologne Pour le Soir showed up a couple days ago. Quite happy.
Verrrry interested as well.
I have to go with Bergamotto. But I do agree with all the Mirto fans.
Thanks again, Hednic, for going through the bother. Truly appreciate it!!
^^ Thank you, kind sir!
Just received an open box bottle of MFK Cologne Pour le Soir, and noticed that the atomizer is different than those found on MFK's 70ml bottles. I'm not terribly concerned, but is this "normal"?
My first email also seemed to have originated from my own email address. The shipping confirmation, however, was sent from Four Seasons Products (hopefully you will get that soon). And just like...
Nicely done, sir. Fantastic fragrance.
You done good sir.
And "yes"....got the same shipping/tracking confirmation this evening as well. We shall see!
They seem to be diligent in marking items "out of stock" as the sale progresses, which I'm taking as a positive sign. Truly hope everyone's orders come through.
Thank you very much for this!
I know there were a lot of delivery problems with Four Seasons in the recent past, but I took a gamble on an open box of MFK Cologne Pour Le Soir at 50%. Simply...
Of the 27 bottles I purchased this year, only 2 are from 2014. So I certainly can't opine with much authority on the "Best Of," but I do like both of these:
Parfum d'Empire Corsica Furiosa
Yes they are!! I think everyone single one of mine have popped off. Oh well. :)
Very interested in this one, so thanks for reporting back, Hednic. Will definitely check it out once it hits Neiman Marcus.
My "go to" grapefruit has to be Le Cherche Midi #30. And for anyone...
I just wore The Artist the other day, and that's the one that strikes me as powdery/floral.
Going with A*Men Taste Of Fragrance today.
One of the (very) few bottles I've ever paid retail for, and don't regret it for a minute. Great stuff.
They were for a while, Hednic, but have been phased out for a couple years now.
Picked up all 5 of them when they hit clearance for $6.99. And "yes," I agree that they are very good fragrances...
Although I wore fragrances back in college, it was purchasing a bottle of AdP Colonia about 8 years ago that sent me down the rabbit hole.
I know you've said you don't really keep boxes, but that one? Waaaay to nice to be tossed out!!
Thank you VERY much for this, Sniffers!
So glad this one made the cut. I, too, blind bought M Generation, and should be showing up on the doorstep any day now.
Hope it finds a good home! :)
Thank you muchly!
No affiliation, but LilyDirect is probably my favorite online shop. Great prices (without coupons), and cheap & fast shipping. Excellent company.
Superb stuff, sir.
Great idea for a thread, BB, and the give-aways are a spectacular idea. Very, very cool of you.
If you haven't given it a try yet, look into Lalique's Hommage a l'Homme. I absolutely love this...
Yes! Although some say it's been reformulated for the worse.
Thank you, sir!
Sounds great, sir! Thanks for the response.
