Well I love Montale, I kinda like vanilla but I there are far better options from other houses.
OP I checked your wardrobe and you only have 3 FB.
You'll be fine...
You have 50 bottles BEFORE Basenotes...! Welcome and enjoy!
As you are from Europe you should check this webshops:
www.ausliebezumduft.com = first in fragrance
these three have enormous collections to choose from and...
Because that's the way things go.
So there will be a part 5?!
Have to say I tried this and it is pure frag-heaven. Can't find much about it though.
I follow you but just pointing out the OP's question.
You could also ask for a new sample?
We are looking for a TF resemblance to Aventus BTW.
I kinda like it. It's a more sweet, medicinal take on oud. Maybe more amber/leather than oud? Not earthy or animalic at all. Leaning towards the feminine side I guess. Didn't smell something like it...
+1 Daim Blond.
By Bond No 9?
These are top notch but also adding Atelier Cologne Vetiver Fatal as a more affordable possibility.
Love it, own it and wear it with pride.
Hi and welcome!
A lot of notes to smell! Will sample this one. Thank's for sharing.
Robert Piguet Casbah is a classic take on incense IMO.
BTW I have 107 FB now... but hey... don't judge me, some of them were gifts.
It one of the easiest fragrances in "niche". It's there for everyone.
You'll be fine...
For most people not much.
It has never bothered me. You know you are a basenoter when...
I once had a package that they didn't send. I've e-mailed them after a week or so and they said it wasn't available though it wasn't listed that way on the website. I asked to cancel it and got a...
Interesting first picture.
After Ombre Indigo was a winner I'm keen on checking this one out.
Cacio -as always- pointed out some good alternatives.
I would also like to ad Atelier Cologne Vetiver Fatal: maybe more on the sweet side but also very affordable.
So how many bottles are you really going to buy and... which ones!?
Montale Moon Aoud
Byredo Black Saffron
When you know this by heart:
Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful,...
When you know how to spell "oud" but not how to pronounce it.
When you buy a fragrance you sold a month ago.
Hi Johnny! I like Oud Immortel as well but I noticed something "dirty" in it. Maybe it's the tobacco that does that? Anyway a good fragrance but Black Saffron still the best from the line IMO.
... when you put on some SMW, DHI, LDDM, LIDGE but after a while have to think where it stands for.
Personally I would prefer to keep them in a closet or a wine-cooler instead.
F. Malle L'Eau d'Hiver
Congratulations! It's wonderful!
My avatar is a painting by Mark Ryden as I adore his work.
Hi and welcome!
Great choice it will last you a lifetime.
I find the opinion of giving a (supposed) alcohol/drug addict no money just because of that reason rather... strange. The perception is very much alive that poor, homeless people are in that case...
Xerjoff Oud Stars Mamluk.
I see absolutely no harm in giving him some money as you didn't ask him to follow you to the nearest sports shop... There is absolutely no need for the advice of not giving money to people begging.
And your point is?
Agree with this.
If you sell them you infect another one with the same addiction. Nobody needs the damn things! I wonder how many times some bottles are sold.
L'Occitane Eau Des Baux is a more woody option in the genre and very affordable.
It can be too much even with less application. It's the style of the fragrance. Still I love it but have to be "in the mood" for it.
Clouded your future is.
I like Pulp and Bal d'Afrique also but I find the house to be overall rather mediocre.
I sampled almost the whole Byredo range and have only Black Saffron in my collection so I follow you on this one.
People are to easily offended so even if you don't use any cologne it's possibly going to happen at some point.
It's a great scent indeed. I have a "vintage" 100 ml and when I wear it, one spray is enough... I have a rotation of about 100 bottles... so...:rolleyesold:
Glad you agree!
Let's face it, the woman was just plain rude.
Bond No. 9 I Love New York For All.
Such a beautiful world where everything is discussed on the web.
"Interesting" thread to read through.
The damage is done.......... no seriously. I agree with you that it's a fragrance with a "classic" feel to it. Still I think it smells very good and an easy to wear fragrance for, in my case, work.
Aoud Shiny perhaps though it has less to do with Rose d'Arabie, it's a very uplifting fragrance in the crowded genre.
Montale Black Aoud.
This doesn't surprise me.
Thank's for sharing. The bottles are hideous. Hope the smell is better...
It is interesting for sure and that's something after sampling thousands. At this point don't know what to make of it yet.
Now we just need Pelé to post.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo !!! Don't blind buy. And especially not a RD... you've noticed the price tag, didn't you?
OVERRATED: Amouage Jubilation
UNDERRATED: Many Montales, Aoud Shiny and Aoud Ever to name just two.
I never say this one as a vanilla.
For me Un Bois de Vanille by Serge Lutens.
If you scroll down you'll notice a nice burger comparison.
Perhaps you could spray on your clothes?
Maybe a vetiver?
Tom Ford Grey Vetiver as already mentioned is a great suggestion.
Also Guerlain Vetiver.
The first one is a little bit more smokey, a darker take on vetiver.
It looks like you know what you want. Great collection. Enjoy it!
Maybe you could try ELDO Rien Intense Incense also?
Yes the MFK Oud suggestion is a very good one.
He didn't store it dark and cool, poor guy.
I am!
You'll better spray the scents on your clothes or on paper strips and put them in your pockets instead of spraying on your skin.
I have never bought a bottle just because it looks good. On the other hand if a bottle is really hideous I won't try it unless it's a winner on BN of course.
Not doubting your taste and opinion but to me -though I see a resemblance- Reflection is so much more then a Le Male.
If you want to give the money they nowadays ask for niche is totally up to...
Who is Mike Perez and who is Pelé?
Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire.
Jul & Mad
MIP is so 2014-hype.
It's a moronic/idiotic idea
These are the webshops where I often shop... Gave them a little evaluation too.
Parfuma (Belgium) 10/10
Parfumaria (Netherlands) 9/10
Celeste Parfums (Netherlands) 9/10
Essenza Nobile (Germany)...
Thank's for sharing. Though I like the style of this house I haven't got high hopes for this one.
FWIW glad to have an old style bottle in my collection.
Great, thank's for sharing!
