Same here. It's pretty unique.
Love both, but I gotta go with Pure Havane. PH doesn't smell like a weak version of anything. It's beastmode. My fave of the A*Men line.
I did it with Bois du Portugal. I bought 30ml worth of the sample vials and put them in an atomizer. It ended up being about $35 or so altogether. I put a funnel over the top of the glass bottle and...
Thank you kindly good sir.
I have Belcam Classic Match's version of Obsession and it is a beast. Smells like Obsession and lasts all day. If it's like their Drakkar Noir copy, it smells like the vintage Obsession. I haven't...
Very well said. Don't get caught up in whether a scent is "niche" or not. Niche has nothing to do with quality or price. A niche product is one that caters towards a specific, focused market. Just...
For real though, dude's prices are unbeatable! And how!
Where were you guys like a week ago when I was defending Eros?
Pure Havane. It's my fave from the Mugler house.
For newly released scents in 2013:
I let 6 women at work smell PM Concentree. Every one of them liked it. Quite a few said they really liked it. It was actually surprising to me. It's a great scent. Projects VERY strongly initially.
Versace Man Eau Fraiche. Very fresh, clean, and pleasant.
I didn't mean it literally silly. It was more of a statement that the bottle is gorgeous.
I haven't worn it in a couple years, but I gave it to my brother and when he wears it I can definitely smell it. It projects nicely.
I got good longevity with 212 Men, which smells of fresh cut green grass.
It was love at first sniff. I never get tired of the Big A.
That's it, I've had enough! I'm wearing Eros today. 10 sprays. Everybody will feel mesaboogie's wrath!
I understand what he meant. But the OP's original question wasn't regarding Top 5 Mainstream frags with longevity. He specified "Designer" frags and Tom Ford is most definitely a fashion designer....
I wasn't referring to anybody, but you obviously thought I was referring to you. I don't know why you have such a chip on your shoulder and feel the need to defend your niche-ness. How am I arrogant...
If you have a hairy chest, it would be best to trim it up, but don't shave it. Rock that hairy chest manly man!
Very well said.
In order of perference:
1. Allure Homme
2. Bleu De Chanel
3. Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme
I've bought like 75% of my collection from Amazon through various sellers. All have been legit. Aventus is a great choice. Very unique, smells great, lasts all day, and gets positive attention. I get...
Himalaya is a solid scent. Signature scent worthy imo. Very clean, soapy, and pleasant. Good longevity too. The bottle alone is worth it.
Do you not think it has good longevity?
The most "meh" new scent I tried this year was Gucci Made to Measure.
All three are great scents, but I recommend Pure Malt. It's a very unique scent. The booziness in the opening is intoxicating. It has the best performance of the three as well.
The Nordstrom in Honolulu carries the entire Bond line. Neiman Marcus there also carries all the Creed and Tom Ford Private Blend line.
Just to clarify, I never called anyone names and I certainly didn't insult anybody. I didn't call anybody a snob. I said the mentality here was "snobbish". My intelligence however, or lack thereof...
Five designer frags with longevity?
1. Ted Lapidus PH
2. TF Tobacco Vanille
3 Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin Midnight Fragrance
4. Michael Kors for Men
5. TM Pure Havane
Welcome. My advice is to not worry about the hyped up frags. Let yourself be the judge of whether something is good or not. Also, try before you buy if you can. Blind buying can be fun, but it can be...
I see you've been a member here for 7 months. Welcome to Basenotes. Two things:
1. You obviously can't be a "snob" if you think Green Irish Tweed, which came out in 1985, can be the worse NEW...
I think it's pretty good. Very strong and long lasting just like the original, but more modern. It's boozy and sweet. At first sniff, it didn't blow me away, but after a full wearing I came around to...
Eros is underrated. It smells great and has amazing performance to boot. Too many weak mainstream frags are being launched these days, but Eros takes it's performance cues from his older brother The...
Haha they could just bring back Dirty English and rename it that. It's certainly a bad boy smell and something a GQ man would wear in a perfectly tailored grey suit and wingtip shoes.
Bleu de Chanel is about as much an aquatic as Davidoff Cool Water....so not at all. I really like aquatics, so yes, I can still appreciate them after encountering Bleu de Chanel.
Absolutely. I got the same thing and the 15ml bottles came in nice canvas baggies like rynegne said, and a nice Hermes box. Best deal you can get on the Hermessence line. I have 2 of the Ambre...
That's where I bought my Hermessence gift/travel set.
Bro, just buy the gift set. It comes with four 15ml travel atomizers of your choice. They look just like the Hermessence bottles but tiny. It's like $145 or so. You can get 4x 15ml Amber Narguilles...
Edition Blanche is certainly the more well made fragrance. However, Versace Man Eau Fraiche is the more pleasant smelling one. I've been told by a female coworker that I smelled like cleaning...
Wow, no love for Luna Rossa? I think it smells great.
I like it. I bought it into work a couple years ago for the girls to smell and they all went crazy over it. One girl said it smelled like Colin Farrel. Another said it smelled like a man whore. Both...
I have the coveted X02 and Z01 as well as a full bottle of E01 and a decant of one of the newer batches. I've also smelled Y01 last year at Neiman. Here's the thing: They do all smell alike. There is...
I'm a fan of it as well. Very green and forresty. Not as in your face or harsh as the original, but still a modern day powerhouse. I like that they kept the original bottle and just slapped Modern...
Spicebomb is great. I get spotty longevity with it, but last time I wore it, I got over 12 hours with it. It's very sweet and not very spicy. I think it's worth having.
From your wardrobe, I'll suggest either Bvlgari Aqva or Gucci PH2. I wore Aqva yesterday and got a compliment from a female coworker. It's great for rainy days in case it does rain. Gucci PH2 is just...
I have all 3 versions and the only difference is that the Oud Absolu is smoother.
Amouage Interlute Man gives me a similar vibe but it's much much much more potent. Also much much much more expensive. Gucci PH1 gets compared to 2 Man but there's only a slight similarity.
My SOTD today and it's fantastic. Very masculine in an old school meets modern man kind of way.
My new fave:
Rose 31 and Whips and Roses are both pretty...
Not as much as my X02 decant or X02 Flacon ;) J/k. Sell it, buy a 4 oz flacon, and use the money on other juice. I have E01, X02, and Z01 and they are all equally fantastic.
I wore it only once. Every girl I passed by got pregnant instantly. Then I got kidnapped by a bus full of Swedish supermodels and they wouldn't let me go for 2 weeks. Also, a Grizzly bear gave me a...
Acqua Di Gio
I like Bond No 9 b/c their fragrances contain high concentrations of essential oils. NY Oud for example has something like 30% if I remember right. They all have fantastic longevity and project...
Agreed. IMHO they shouldn't pierce anything other than their ears unless they're the bass player for an obscure metal rock band. Nip, lip, nose, neck, and...erm...other piercings are a turn off for...
^Yep. It's b/c your brain tunes constant smells out so it can smell things that may potentially try to murder you to death. That being said, I get burned out from Aventus sometimes and then the next...
Pm'd for Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme
I have X02, Z01, and E01. All are fantastic, all are projection BEASTS, and all last 12+ hours. I wore E01 the other night and it stayed on my shirt the next morning and I could smell it as soon as I...
Dominica Bay Rum is my absolute fave Bay Rum. I have Clubman Virigin Island bay rum, Hawleywood's Bay Rum, and a couple others, but Dominica is the best IMHO.
GIT is the safest choice. Aventus is my favorite of the group. Terre D'Hermes smells like the armpit of a god. Not too familiar with Luna Rossa. I say Aventus. 3 sprays at most. It's a projection...
A masterpiece indeed. Possibly the most underrated popular frag.
I have that same batch from eBay. I sprayed 4 sprays on the other day and I caught whiffs of it 7 hours after application. It lasted at least 10 hours on me.
I gave it a 10 b/c 11 wasn't an option.
Best gourmand I have ever smelled.
Everything EXCEPT for Acqua Di Gio.
If you're looking for another masculine scent that is dapper and has that old school, yet modern feel, I suggest checking out Boucheron Jaipur Homme (EDP or EDT). It's a good bit sweeter, but it's...
New York Oud
New York Musk
New York Amber
I <3 NY for Him (Super generic, but very pleasant and lasts alllll day)
1 on the chest, at least 1 on the front of the neck, and 1 on each wrist or upper arm by the bend of the elbow. For lighter scents, I'll do two on the sides of the neck, and possibly a 3rd on the...
I was lucky enough to get a 50ml decant from a bargain bin priced split last year. Moss Breches smells like a 70's powerhouse. It smells very natural and has awesome sweet beeswax note to keep it...
Aventus is superb in it's scent, projection, longevity, and uniqueness. The only Creed I'd even consider paying retail price for.
I really dig LIDGE and LIDG.
Johnny's right. Those 3 frags came a couple years before Creed shamelessly ripped them off.
"Niche" is not a term exclusive to the fragrance market. In fact, I hate that term. A "Niche" is focused towards a small segment of the market. Apple computers are a niche in the PC world b/c only a...
I got a sample courtesy of spcmiller and I liked it right away. The first thing I noticed about it was how potent it was. My 100ml bottle will last me a looooooong time.

PerfumesWorld actually. Tuccini is legit though. I've bought from them. Even at $105, that is a good deal considering the magnitude of which D'Un Soir rocks. This could be the next big hype next...
Yeah actually. I was told by two female coworkers that it smelled like cat pee.
D'Un Soir freakin' rocks! It smells very classy and has a beautiful masculine rose note. It's very smooth and smells like it's made with quality ingredients. Perfect for a date or for dressy...
I HIGHLY doubt it's fake. This fragrance just came out. If it were original Declaration, then maybe I'd believe it's a fake if it were suspect. How does it smell? How long does it last? I just bought...
Dude, pretty please with cherries on top buy some deodorant.
It's hard to tell from the picture, but I think these members just may have positively identified that as Midnight in Paris by Van Cleef & Arpels.
It smells fantastic, projects big, lasts a long time, and garners compliments. Oh, and it has a sweet...
At least the other two didn't say it smelled like cat pee like two girls at my work did last night.
Encre Noir is very depressing
Polo Modern reserve...YES.
I got about 7 hours. It started off smelling similar to Aventus minus the depth and quality. Then turned to bubble gum. Then turned to cat piss.
I went with Original Santal since Aventus wasn't on the list.
The guys at Ilum Deam know what make Aventus so exceptional apparently.
Cartier Declaration D'Un Soir
I've never seen it in stores. I bought mine blindly from FragranceNet.
PH1 is completely discontinued and no longer in production. PH2 is on it's way out but can still be found in stores.
That discount code is bullox anyways. The original eBay price was $25. DrScent charges $29.95 for Fresco on their website, so with the coachrob discount, it brings it back down to the original asking...
