SOTD is Serge Luten's 'Fille en Aiguilles'
Wow guys, thanks for the quick replies :)
I've been looking for a relatively 'simple' Vanilla scent, but with a definite musk note in the background.
I tried using the fragrance directory and searching by notes, but either my searching...
I smoked a pipe for quite a long time, non 'flavoured' tobacco too, and the tobacco was always extremely sweet smelling in the bag/tin.
That said, I've never found anything that smells very much...
How much would you like to spend, ideally?
I'm really excited to try this.
The original was good, but ended up being a huge letdown due to the fact the awesome opening died so quickly.
So.. if it lasts longer, etc.. woot :)
Chergui by Serge Lutens
If you cant afford full bottles, and nothing wrong with that, get samples of niche scents you want to try, and then scour around for decants instead of full bottles. Sure, it's more per mL, but you...
I stopped at The Perfume Shoppe today to talk to Naz and buy a bottle of Chergui.
When I was there, I asked about the new SL scents. She does not have them yet, but they are on the way. She wasn't...
YSL's Rive Gauche, and because it was so cheap and I have fond memories while wearing it, Swiss Army
Just a word to the wise.. friends of mine salsa dance, and they complain loudly about having to dance with guys with too much scent.
If you're going to wear some, make sure it's gonna not be...
I've never seen or heard anything about them being reformulated with the newer bottles..
I feel bad for people who get poor longevity out of this line :( Every L'artisan scent, minus Timbuktu,...
I've only ever seen the 125ml cans, so maybe you can just weigh it.
I have a brand new can at home right now, actually, maybe 3 spays out of it. I can weigh it when I get home and tell you?
CdG's Sequoia for my last day of work, woot!
GOD you are SO on with the guitar part hahaha
I looooove the smell of my acoustics' fretboard. Watching this thread intently ;)
Swiss Army by Swiss Army
Talk about a blast from the past... I wore this stuff every day for a couple years when I was younger. My, how my tastes have changed.
Still, damn good for $15
Vetiver Oriental and Gris Clair are both quite easy to wear, as is Five O'Clock Au Gingembre. None of these are ridiculously sweet or overly rich.
Ambre Sultan and Borneo are worth a try, too.
Does Walmart or Superstore still carry Rive Gauche for $19? I've been looking, but I've been unable to locate it all, let alone at a cheap price.
If anyone knows of a specific Walmart in the...
Compare the price at, say, Luckyscent (I know I know, not the best price) for Ambre Sultan
$120USD + Shipping vs $103USD + Shipping
Plus she'll throw in a good number of samples for you...
If Naz gets it in soon, I'll head to The Perfume Shoppe and try them out and post my impressions here.
She has amazing prices on the SL, even after factoring in shipping etc.
Sandal Sliver by Montale.
Creamy, lovely, goodness
Ogallala, by far.
Because it's freaking amazing. And inexpensive.
Montale's Fougeres Marines. When I tested it, both on a strip and on my arm, I was somewhat unimpressed. It seemed like a dull, somewhat fruity scent and I didn't enjoy it.
On the drive home, it...
I've gotten a few friends into it, albeit not to the same degree as myself. But, they understand / value niche scents and the differences between designer and whatnot.
I'd have to consider most...
I adore the aftershave, don't like the EdC very much though :(
Is the vintage EdC closer to the current aftershave?
the scent of my gf :)
It's likely their sales volume is giving them a nice break..
perfumeshoppe and fragrancex mostly
CdG's Sequoia, for another record breaking hot day in Vancouver :(
probably Angel :P
It's not 100%, but it can usually do a pretty good job of pronunciations. Just pick whatever french voice you want to...
If you want a nice summery citrus, you could try Soleil de Capri by Montale
It's very unisex, so it can smell like a feminine scent on a girl, and still masculine on a guy.
Nothing wrong with mainstream aquatics! They have their time and place, and if you like em you like em. I've grown kind of tired with them, but I still enjoy wearing one every now and then.....
plain, distilled witch hazel works for me
Uomo by Lorenzo Villoresi
Wow, I got some golden suggestions from this thread :)
I bought a bottle of 4711, and have ordered a few samples of things from this.. so thank you very much :) This will make my time off 10x...
huge fan of Montale's Bois Vanille
I've had great success with Vettiveru and LV's Uomo during our heatwave, nsamadi. Maybe you could give those a try if you have any decants etc around
Citruses seem to fair pretty well. I wore my...
Correct, they aren't the same scent, and they're quite different
I do like both, but she's dumm
Honestly, if you want oud I would avoid M7. It's recommended a lot for it's oud-yness, but honestly I get almost none at all from it. M7 -is- a great scent, though, and is well worth a try regardless...
Thanks for the additional suggestions.
I'll see if I can sample them, and if I can't find a good deal on one I like, I'll order it online :) I've been very curious to give Mugler Cologne a...
That sounds awesome, actually. I'll keep an eye out for it this weekend when I am out and about
So.. I'm being laid off in a few days, and I'll have the whole of August to enjoy the heat and relax on the beach. Not so bad ;)
However, I have been looking for a good refreshing scent to wear on...
It's definitely worth a try.
They get compared quite often, but I own both and quite frankly I don't think they're at all similar. A*Men is all about the chocolate and tar to me, and the Rochas is...
Amouage - Dia
all I can really say is: Holy crap.
I burn myrrh at home regularly, and LOVE it. I know that it is often combined with Frankincense when being burnt, but I prefer it simply on its own.
I actually had a blend of resin incense where...
I think it's great. I know several people in their 20s (including myself) who wear / have worn it with great success.
Just because you're younger, doesn't mean you need some lame designer aquatic....
Why? Those are good!
1) Ambre Sultan - Serge Lutens
2) Red Vetyver - Montale
3) Fumerie Turque - Serge Lutens
4) L'eau Guerriere - Parfumerie Generale
5) Vetyver - Givenchy
Bandit EdP by Robert Piguet
50ml Bandit EdP and 6 scent Amouage men's sampler pack
Had a friend bring it over from Germany a few weeks back. Loving it.
Going to the Perfume Shoppe, gotta keep my nostrils clear ;)
Deep Red for women turns my crank :(
Quite a big difference / jump in price from The One to SDV. Have you tried other vanillas? There's some fantastic ones that are less expensive
I'm a gigantic fan of Un Bois Vanille by Serge...
It's pretty unique. It's got a touch of synthetic-ness that kind of bugs me, but it doesn't stop me from loving it. Definitely one of my favourite scents. The first time I wore it, I was at work and...
Holy cow dude
nice purchase! I hope you dig L'eau Du Navigateur
I use Thayer's Lavender scented alcohol-free witch hazel quite regularly as an aftershave, and it works fantastically. It also doubles as a good toner
L'artisan's Passage d'Enfer
I am liking this more and more every time I sample it. Wish it lasted a bit longer, but longevity on me is average. I usually have fantastic luck with L'artisans stuff...
Anyway, I like the Bulgari much better, and I used to be a massive Issey fan. I find the scent more interesting, and much less common. I smell Issey everywhere, in the Elevators at work,...
I'm a big fan of L'Ombre Fauve, Cedre Sandaraque, and L'eau Guerriere
I am a gigantic fan of Montale's Fougères Marines, and I also think Caron's third man is great, too
The Gentlemen's Refinery
L'eau du Navigateur by L'artisan :)
I think I missed the boat, too.
Mind you, there's a lot I simply haven't tried, and dearly want to... but the ones I've sampled simply weren't -that- great.
Don't get me wrong, I think they...
Five O'Clock Au Gingembre is my favourite ginger scent
Tea for Two and L'eau du Navigateur
haha, or just make him angry :)
Oh, he most likely doesn't know / didn't mean to list it as such, but by the sounds of it it doesn't sound like he's open to listening about it hehe.
The date code doesn't work in the...
I asked the seller about it, and got shot down pretty hardcore :P
I never said it was baccarat glass. I said it was designed by Baccarat. Go back to the auction and read my description. As for the...
hehe, no worries :)
Lol, yeah, I just did. Sigh, not used to being at home and doing this stuff ;)
The link got chopped, can you repost it?
I like the smaller sizes, unless it's a favourite scent then I may find myself getting larger bottles
Fougères Marines by Montale :)
Advocate said pretty much all I had to say about the matter.
My favourite Bay Rum would be Ogallala bay rum, fairly inexpensive and a fantastic aftershave
I think he just needs some practice, really. A lot of us would be pretty rough around the edges if we started doing something like this, I think.
Hopefully he keeps at it
Montale's Black Aoud!
I didn't find them to be overly similar on me, though
The 'power' is indeed just a gimmick, since Gillette got in trouble for their advertising over it. It's just a cash grab.
The Mach3 is still the best cartridge razor on the market, imo.
Parfumerie Generale - L'eau Guerriere
I like this more and more each time I wear it.
Mitsouko by Guerlain today, EdT
My bottle of Fumerie Turque doesnt say HC on the bottom :(
Nm I just saw PhinClio's post
This is seriously the first time I've ever heard of Canada customs destroying a fragrance :(
Now I'm worried, heh, considering how much stuff I buy from the US
The old school, prior to being updated/fixed, Bulgari Black sprayers. Oh wow, what a piece of junk
Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille, or Montale's Boise Vanille are my favourites by far.
L'eau de Navagateur by L'artisan lasts well over a day on me
Working a graves shift, basically alone at work tonight, so I've decide to overdose on Ambre Sultan by Serge Lutens in order to bask in its glow all night.
I used too much, but I'm in love
The best exfoliating cleanser I've used is by Anthony Logistics. It's not cheap, but it's extremely effective and smells awesome. I use it once or twice a week at most, and it really helps my skin...
Yeah, I'm kicking myself for not buying it earlier.. now I'm stuck with a sample I love, and a price I don't really feel like paying heh
You could try Red Vetyver by Montale, if you're able to find a dealer locally (if not, I still highly recommend at least sampling it). It's a fantastic, 'different' vetiver, and actually has a large...
If you have anywhere nearby that sells Comme des Garcons, check out Vettiveru. It's pretty cheap (I bought a large bottle for $60 CDN) and it is an extremely awesome vetiver. Very smooth and creamy,...
Cipresso Toscana is fantastic :)
I found it lasted a good amount of time on me, although it was a pretty warm day so it helped with the projection.
Welcome to Basenotes :)
Guerlain is a fantastic house, and I'm sure you'll find plenty there to choose from!
I don't know exactly what price range you are looking at, but I'll skip the...
Fumerie Turque by Serge Lutens
^----- Brielle has great advice. Fierce is not a BAD scent, it may be overpopular and smell like the mall, but it's also popular for a reason. Try it out for her, with her, etc, if you really don't...
I quite liked it... if they could fix the fact that it sucks after being on my skin for a while, then it'd be great. Here's to hoping that an EdP version can address that
Big fan of Une Bois Vanille by Serge Lutens, and Tea for Two by L'artisan
Warm, gentle, 'foodie' scents. It's like falling asleep on the couch after you've just baked some apple cobbler, or some...
can't believe I haven't seen a suggestion for Guerlains Vetiver here
It's young enough to not make you feel/smell like an old man, but mature enough to still be kickin' rad once you've gotten...
