Re: Ralph Lauren Polo (Green) : Warner Vs Cosmair

The last time I tried a "recent bottle" of Polo Green was in 2010 or 2011. I was so disappointed with it overall that I have searched for vintage only since then. But if the current juice does the...

Re: How to recognise JEAN PATOU fragrances.

I see his website as the best (besides Basenotes, of course...). Thank you.
  6. Re: Is Fendi Uomo the new Patou Pour Homme or Derby?

I agree with everybody else here. There are some very few vintage scents that perhaps worth their exorbitant prices. Some others are not that good (Fendi Uomo fits) and there is a bubble.

Re: what are some best jeans?

I own both 513 and 501, and I agree that 513 usually fits better than 501, but the fabric of 513 is so much worse - paper thin, feels like it's going to tear down easily. And now they are doing it...
  13. Re: Current formulations that are BETTER than their Vintage counterparts?!

Very interesting. I'm not very schooled on feminines, but I wonder if floral notes (which are supposedly the greatest joy of feminine frags) in the current industry are more apt to captivate its...

    Re: Vintage Patou Discussion

One of the major houses in historic importance. Patou was Chanel's greatest rival in their heights, as fashion designers, and I guess one could see them as equals regarding fragrances too.

  26. Re: best shoes/boots for wearing with corduroy pants?

I suppose tan (or khaki/camel/beige if you prefer) is the most classical color for corduroy pants. Colors like olive (or oxblood, if you dare) may work much better in moleskins, IMO. I would save the...

Re: Does anyone wear vintage ONLY?

Re: are turtlenecks "ok" for men?

If you don't mind looking a bit eccentric, go ahead. I personally think it's cool, it just doesn't match my style.
  30. Re: best shoes/boots for wearing with corduroy pants?

I would never wear tennis shoes with cords... Brown boots should work, including chukkas. But my favorite shoe to wear with corduroy pants would be some brogue.
  31. Re: Dating what I believe to be a very old bottle of Chanel Antaeus

Great find. I vote for early 1980s.
  32. Re: Do you show off your vintage collection? Do you find others are interested?

No, I'm never proud of showing these old bottles. I don't do that. My secret pride comes from the way they smell.

  36. Re: How narrow have you gotten your collection? Or do you keep adding?

I currently have some 18 or 19 different fragrances (it took a long and hard downsizing process), all in bottles, all vintage. However, some of them are well backuped, so there are probably around 30...
  37. Re: Strange limited Guerlain Habit Rouge - Does anybody know more about this?

Go for it If you are keen for bottles. However, if you are juice oriented like me, forget it and search vintage EdC.
  38. Re: What's the darkest scent that you know? And with dark I mean SUPER-DARK!!!

Knize Ten is the darkest I'm acquainted with, although "darkness" can be very subjective.
  39. Re: Critically acclaimed but a commercial failure?

Very true. Most people buy fragrances due to good marketing, they don't give a damn if the labdanum note is dissonant with the vetiver or if the sandalwood is of low quality.

  42. Re: About the transparency (or not) of Antaeus vintage bottles

  43. Re: About the transparency (or not) of Antaeus vintage bottles

  45. About the transparency (or not) of Antaeus vintage bottles
