    Poll: Niche/High-End Sweet Vanilla?

I Profumi di Firenze Vaniglia del Madagascar vs. Il Profumo Vanille Bourbon:
Which of these would be a better choice if I'm looking for pure, sweet, uncomplicated vanilla?

    If you have a different...

    Re: Olfactology.

Not all of us are necessarily so serious as to "study" smell. It would definitely be a perfect way to describe a lot of the users here, though. I do hate the phrase 'perfumista," it sounds sort of......

    Re: Milky, Creamy Lactones?

I did get some isobutavan - it's sweet and sort of candy like, indeed much like cream soda. Very interesting.

Methinks Acqua. At least where I live.
  7. Re: Could we use oleoresins instead of essential oils?

Sorry to bring this back up, but I was considering getting a "Vanilla Essential Oil" from Edens Garden to use as a simple perfume on my pulse points. I read the fine print and apparently it's...
  8. Re: Does Vanilla Absolute Dissolve in DPG?

    That's perfectly alright :)
    Anyone else have any input?
  9. Re: Does Vanilla Absolute Dissolve in DPG?

So once I dissolve some absolute in water, can that solution be dissolved into dipropylene glycol? I'm not making an alcohol-based perfume, but an oil-based one in dpg.

    Should I just use a CO2...
  10. Does Vanilla Absolute Dissolve in DPG?

Can vanilla absolute be dissolved into DPG, or would I need to get a CO2 extract in order for it to dissolve? (it's intended for a DPG-based oil perfume, not an alcohol-based one.)

    Thank you very...
  11. Vanilla Scents - Niche/Indie and Affordable!

Hey hey all. What would you recommend for a pure, "vanilla extract" sort of scent (a little woody and toasty is fine, too) from a niche or indie perfumer, that is affordable?

    What I want:
    Simple,...
  12. Re: Anyone have a signature fragrance? If so, what?

For about a year I wore nothing but MJ Daisy, until I started smelling it everywhere and realized that it's more or less fancy Febreeze :p

Since then, I've been on a quest for a new signature -...

    Re: Milky, Creamy Lactones?

That's interesting. Probably too literal "dairy" for me. Though some cheesecake sounds really good right now, omm nom.

Yes, they don't seem to be discussed here much. But when you tried them, do you remember them having any offputting notes? I have looked at the MUA reviews, and more than one reviewer mentioned...

    Milky, Creamy Lactones?

I'm deciding what I want to order from Perfumer's Apprentice to add a milky creaminess to vanilla. I plan on getting methyl laitone, but I don't know what else would be helpful. Perfumer's Apprentice...
  19. Re: How Long Would 5 ml of This Scent Last? (Plus a few more questions)

I wasn't aware that Ava Luxe is a "natural" line.

Does anyone have any opinions on Dragonfly Blue's Vanilla oil? Any recs on a good gentle, warm vanilla oil (with a bit of musk) would be awesome!...
  20. Re: How Long Would 5 ml of This Scent Last? (Plus a few more questions)

I was thinking that a few months might be a bit excessive, darkdreams. Usually I use up 1 ml samples within a week. $23 per month x 12 months = $276! Yow.

darkdreams, are you sure you don't...
  21. Re: How Long Would 5 ml of This Scent Last? (Plus a few more questions)

DocmanCC, it doesn't come in a rollerball, but I could always put it in one. You guys really think it would last a few months? I wouldn't consider buying it if it lasted less than two months.

  23. How Long Would 5 ml of This Scent Last? (Plus a few more questions)

I'm considering purchasing a 5 ml bottle of Milk by Ava Luxe, after I sample it of course. I'm looking for a signature scent, and Milk is on the short list. But it ends up being $23 for 5 ml of oil....

Thank you guys! I'm thinking I'm going to try Kenzo Amour (again - I only smelled it on paper last weekend). It isn't so fresh, but the soft vanilla and rice-ness sounds amazing. Hoping it's nice and...

Guerlain Mandarine Basilic is pure crisp citrus to me, and nothing more. Pampelune is somewhat similar, though even more sharp.
