Miller Harris l'air de rien
I know that English isn't any of the contributors' first language, so maybe it would behoove them to hire an editor to make sure whatever message they have doesn't get lost in a sea of 10 dollar...
I *wish* my coworkers smelled of Cuir de Russie, No 22, or No 5.
It's available at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and the Donna Karan Beauty website.
I'm in the minority, but I think the "new" Chaos and "old" Chaos are very close to being the same. I wore...
Only Diorella and Miller Harris l'air de rien.
I've seen both Dazzlings at my local department stores out here in the Midwestern prairie. They're also on the EL website.
10 Corso Como is a quiet sandalwood fragrance, very good but not as present as it used to be.
Miller Harris l'air de rien
My favorite leather is Estee Lauder Azuree with Robert Piguet Bandit a very close second. Azuree edges out Bandit becuase of it's burnt sugar aspect which sweetens the dry leather notes and makes...
Bond No 9 Chinatown
Dad and Mom aren't the kind of people who think much about scents; the most they tend to wear is deodorant of some sort. Mom sometimes wears Coty's Muget des Bois or patchouli oil. Dad wore Brut...
Diorella-perfect when it's this humid.
Two cheapies: Lulu Beauty Starlet (available on etsy) and Auric Blends Lover's Moon.
I love Travels and Traditions! Thanks for posting the vid.
I would say that depends on age and intention, wouldn't you? ;)
Looks like an interesting scent.
Isn't Aerin Estee's granddaughter?
Aerin looks danged good for not being a model. I'd say all of those pictures have been extensively airbrushed since not one of them has so much as a pore visible.
L'air de rien for me.
If The Body Shop UK brought back Activist perfume oil, I could die happy.
After the announcement, all kinds of people were suddenly ill.
Unplanned but welcome break, anyone? :-)
Donna Karan Chaos
I bought a bottle of the old Armani Mania b/c it reminded me so much of Chaos.
Just shy of 80, but it's taken me over a decade to get there. I only have what I really love, for the most part.
Sounds like a personal problem.
I thought that it was the bloggers trying to make everyone feel welcome and it's a lot like the conversation style on MUA, short and to the point. Either you like...
Or write for blog, it seems.
I enjoy reading the Guide, Chandler Burr's columns, and many of the blogs because a variety of opinions are a) fun and b) may help me to smell a facet of my...
I found an update about the book on Now Smell This:
I just got a notice from Amazon which cancelled my pre-order. They say that the The Alchemy of Scent is not going to be available.
My thoughts exactly. Strange how unnaturally depliated, inflated, and airbrushed images of naked women are just fine, but one penis shot and everyone's in a tizzy.
It got three stars.
I'd love to hang out with you and others in Chicago again!
Estee Lauder Azuree. There's a brown sugar-like sweetness wrapped around a gardenia note in the middle notes that keeps the leather from becoming too masculine.
I'm with Ruggles. If you want something closer to what Cabochard used to be, go for the EL scents.
Oh, great, now I have to try another frag (Eau de Campagne). My wallet hates you (kidding).
I guess I'm also a galbanum person, since nearly all of perfumes listed here are part of my harem.
My personal favorite is Lulu Beauty Starlet, which is available on etsy.com.
It's a fresh and sweet gardenia with a musky drydown. Yum!
Monyette Paris is nice, as is Auric Blends Lover's Moon.
I love your Bill the Cat (ack!) avatar!
Didn't Neil's scent for Takashimaya get nominated for a FiFi, too?
I, for one, am overjoyed that his work is getting...
*is resigned to never smelling "friggin' hot!"*
If this industry source was an SA, I'd take what he/she said with a grain of salt. It seems that "being discontinued" is often SA speak for "we're (as in this store/chain) are not going to stock it...
Gres Cabaret, which reminds me of Christian Lacroix Tumulte pour homme with a huge blowsy rose perched on top. Fabu!
Paco Rabanne Calandre
Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Harlot-lemony rose mixed with a hot cinnamon and a little smoke.
MBDivine-I'm so sorry. :-(
Wearing my favorite dirty 'fume today, Tauer Vetiver Dance.
I dislike those horribly fruity and astringent bestsellers like D&G Light Blue, DKNY Be Delicious, and Armani Acqua di Gio. On top of reminding me of Raid sprayed on fruit salad (or just Raid, in the...
Body Time Egyptian Musk. It's soft, a little sweet, and familiar-like the skin on the back on my husband's freshly washed neck.
Angel for a cold and frosty morning.
Quarry, you're a woman after my own heart. I have an allergy to glam, but if I suddenly caught a case, I'd wear Mitsouko.
It's been an interesting day here in Illinois. Seems that one of our prerequisites for governor is that they must be so crooked that they will have to be screwed into the ground...
IIRC, his given name was "Roger" and he changed the spelling to "Roja" based on how people pronounced it.
Azurée, Bandit, Chant d'Aròmes, Chinatown, Diorella, Givenchy III, Ma Griffe, Mitsouko, Narciso Rodriguez for Her, Rush, Wrappings, Y, Chanel No. 19 . . . there are few chypres I've met and *haven't*...
FM Une Fleur de Cassie.
Guerlain and Donna Karan.
Aramis for Men is still on the market after 43 years, so I wouldn't say that the Aramis brand is a "total failure".
I would agree that Aramis hasn't had a big hit in a long time.
Narciso Rodriguez for Her EDT.
Ralph Lauren Notorious.
Lanvin Rumeur in the "new" version is like Lovely with a big white peony topnote.
Molinard Habanita EDT.
One word review: Wow!
There's pyramus' One Thousand Scents. I enjoy his writing style a lot.
TM Angel-perfect for chipping my car out from under a layer of ice this morning.
FM Une Fleur de Cassie
I bought my husband a bottle of Creed Greed Irish Tweed after he went crazy for the sample I was given at Chi-Cocoa. My original thinking was that GIT smelled a lot like Cool Water, which he LOATHES....
My favorite cheap, cheerful, and often overlooked lily scent is Anais Anais.
Rocking Carnal Flower and have decided that the first snow of the year was more than enough, thankyouverymuch.
I used to wear The Body Shop Activist until it was discontinued here. :-(
Hooray for Ebay and the occasional trip to Ireland, otherwise I'd have none.
Thierry Mugler Angel, again.
Diorella is one of my all-time favorite scents. I originally purchased unsniffed, but I admit that I sampled Eau Sauvage before I decided to spring for Diorella. They are very similar.
Cheer Fresh Linen with Bounce Fresh Linen dryer sheets.
My clothes have a fresh "line dried" smell that doesn't interfere with my perfume.
Just another fine soul proving The Greater Internet F**kwad Theory, methinks. ;)
Happy Birthday Kumquat!
I'm wearing Angel. One squirt, dabbed around.
Guerlain Shalimar-love it or hate it, it's a landmark oriental.
Wearing EL Azuree today. I need to smell fierce and fearless.
Just about to pop my contribution to dinner into the oven: green bean casserole!
Have a Happy Turkey Day, all!
Christian Lacroix Tumulte pour Homme
10 Corso Como
Unfortunately, I don't think it's any full bottle, but a full bottle from the choices in the sample set. Still, it's a great deal. My sister loved the set I bought her last year.
I thought the...
Nice milkman, there.
Wearing Narciso Rodriguez Musc oil.
Thanks for the compliment! :-) Yeah, I did wonder what response that SA wanted. Should I open my wallet to show that it's not empty? Get a credit report? Take my mom along to vouch for me?
Wow. Might want to work on the morals, there.
It depends. In Chicago, I've had fabulous, polite, and attentive service at places like Barney's, Nordstroms, Sephora, and Neiman Marcus. In my hometown, I'm either ignored or followed obssessively...
1st wedding: Angel
Divorce: White Shoulders
2nd wedding: NR for Her EDT
I wore Angel the day of my first wedding because it was my signature scent at the time, White Shouders to my divorce...
ROFL at that cheesehead smiley!
Fave notes: incense, vetiver, oakmoss, patchouli
Natural hair color: Dark brown
Birth month: September/Virgo
Merz Apothecary! Love that place.
Looks like you had a "trip" in more than one sense of the word. ;-)
Thanks for the beautiful pictures. I can almost smell those Guerlain testers.
10 Corso Como- oud, roses, and sandalwood. I wish my skin smelled like this naturally.
I don't tend to buy blind, but my four have been huge winners: Dior Diorella, Bulgari Black, YSL Y, and Gres Cabaret.
'Course, I read all the reviews, write-ups, and other info I could find before...
I didn't know it was Neil's birthday, but I'm wearing his Dark Season today.
LOL! I signed up here a couple of years ago, before the last reconfiguration. Maybe there was a glitch? Still, I think this date makes me eligible for longest lurkdom ever. :-)
Coming out of my usual lurkdom to say it was great to meet you, Quarry. If you haven't had the pleasure of meeting her in person, you are missing out (I'm sure you all knew that already ;-) ). Take...
