It does not really get any better than this!
One of few bottles i m considering to get a back up.
I am an avid Guerlain collector.
I am curious to try this one, the bottle design is captivating.
I never came across a Guerlain that disappointed me.
I tried them only briefly, can not honestly remember how they smell.
You can find them in Bloomingdales in Dubai Mall
That's some serious collection!
Fille en Aiguilles
and the mighty
Nobody masters sweet scents like Lutens does.
Yes you should:thumbsup:
I sniffed them briefly the other day,
all I can remember that they are not too middle Eastern
and smelled pleasant. I tend to think that
the perfumer was conservative...
I assure you, that you have never smelled anything like it.
Very distinct honey and wood notes,
be careful when you were it
One of the best Iris scents eved, and one of my all time favorites
I grew up with oud, and people here use it the whole time.
i still find it very hard tto distinguish between real oud
and synthetic oud when diluted.
i had once pure oud diluted for me to make a...
The ones which come to my mind:
Creed, all of them. Although still talked about a lot, but not as back in 2008, there seemed to be
a thread about it every minute back then.
As some of you mentioned above, is it difficult to harness the temptation
to buy at retail price, especially if you love it.
I have made a deal with myself, never to bother about limited editions....
Egyptian SA (no offense intended) are very well know around here for there persuasive style, they make
you feel guilty if you walk away without buying anything.
I am sure you are not alone
but the pain is actually that for those 3 years I have waited,
it is because I thought, and still think that it is not worth that amount of money,
but could not resist it that...
Well for me, I did.
Back in January I paid full retail price
for Bond no 9 New Harlem 100 ml, in excess of $300 !
The reason is that, I was not able to find
deals on it on the internet...
$1600 for ASAQ oud Klakas (bought 2 x 12 ml bottles)
$ 1260 Roja Dove diaghilev
Scent of peace
I grew up with perfumes so i am no stranger to them.
But as a hobby, I was in a shopping mall in 2008 and as I looked to my left, there was Amouage store,
So I told myself what is this amouage...
For me it is Ibitira hands down.
There seems to be some kinda charm with Xerjoff,
I am hooked with their Ibtira, absolutely love it.
Not particularly passionate about this one though
This becomes kinda scary when your collection approaches the $100k mark
when you think of what otherwise you could have done with the money.
But the fact that you have your perfumes and you can...
What a lovely scent!
Roja dove enslaved = Molinard habanita
If it is a highly coveted one and expensive, 50 ml is not an option
I still regret buying 17.5 ml pure distance m, should have bought 100 ml from the begining
Yerbamate is great
grean, soft, tender all at once
Personally I do not like atomizers
One of the few original scents out there
I believe that after some time, you will get all of them
Mitsokou & Shalimar,
They are very classic, and easily accessible
Sadly this is the truth,
I almost pulled the tirgger once on it,
but my credit card was out of credit
I hope the Oud price does not go up that soon,
been wanting to buy it for 3 years now, but just can not
justify paying the price tag Roja is aksing
OMG, just can not think of the idea of a more intense Rein,
the very thought of it scares me
You will be coming to the middle East, or you will just be buying online?
If you are comint, my advice to you: sample as much oud oils as possible.
Dunhil edition: reminds me with my fantazies about scents.
It was the first perfume I come in cotact with since it was worn by my father.
Oud Oil (pure attar)
Could not agree more, especially with stuff like Timbuktu, down right amazing.
Do not feel ashamed or embarrassed to make a comeback
we will all be welcoming you again
Have never tried Sonoma Scent Studios, I will put it in my radar
You should definitely check Rose 31
Very good choice, this is one of the few frags that daday complimented when he smelled on me
What is your take on this line hednic?
Everything is good in its time.
Back in the old days, they used pure leather,
slik, wool, etc for everyday wear.
Today, these will be expensive, and synthetics have emerged.
hhh, I was about to point this out since you are both Mikes!
Thanks for bringing this to the light, I wonder what is this "beyond sex"!
They have been around since 1993, so they must have been doing pretty well
to survive till now
I see that PdM have already started to appear more in 2013 and for a good reason
I have not tried LM Parfums & Les Liquides Imaginaires
I agree about MEMO & Eutopie
Both of them are high class scents,
and both of them for me have average longevity,
I will go for Spice and wood for the juice quantity
and for the artistic bottle
By obscure I do not mean lower end or low quality,
I mean it is not known to the masses.
So, which houses do you think, if given
the right marketing and the same hype like
WOW, this is great!
A very well done indeed, a bargain you got there
Is he a drinking or smoking type of person? if not, 85 euros is really a bargain over what he would
have otherwise spend on clubs
1/2 a spray give or take, does not really matter if you spray 8+
You sure smell great, this is the perfume concentration?
Please bring this thread to life!
I know that there are many of Basenotes giants,
have not posted yet!
May be he already sprayed it
This question used to cross my mind,
but now, I do not bother anymore,
because I know for sure that for the next 10 years,
I am going to get at least 300+ bottles in addition to the 300 I already...
Can not blame him really,
the bottle is gorgeous especially for a newbie,
and as others said, given his limited insight in the fragrance world
I believe he was thrilled to get,
this was the case...
Al Khat I think will do for you
Tobacco Vanille for me because it lives up the name.
If I only have $200 to spend, I will not opt to Western designer scents,
I will visit my nearest Rasasi store (http://www.rasasi.com) and will stock my self up.
The reason being that this house...
No Creeds yet?
You really smell very fresh
You already have Aventus!
Way to go
I am sure you will never regret it
This is a perfume icon
I gave up my bottle in 2008,
but I am considering getting it again
Congrats Hednic and good versatility
As much as you like
It was Bond No.9 West Broadway 100 ml.
I got it for $65 but that was in 2010,
can not get this kind of deal any more.
Diaghilev & the ouds, are the best in the line.
Especially the ouds: a bridge between the original oriental oud oils
and the sweetened Western creations
I will second this,
especially Habit Rouge, you can not afford to miss it
One of the best in the line
It has just turned Tuesday over here!
From the famous main stream niche: Amouage Reflection in 2008.
From Arabian houses: Dehn Oud Al-Shams from Ajaml in 2003
Depends on how experienced your nose.
I would go for reflection, because it is a bridge between mains stream & high end niche
I am a big fan of Guerlain,
But to be frank, I am not impressed by the modern creations like homme,
so in that case, I will go with Dior.
Pure oud by kilian
Cabochard Gres Vintage. (stock photo)
Lorenzo Villoresi Donna
I found the Eutopie pretty pleasent
Indeed they are. Some of them were long time coveted.
Some of them were new discoveries,
But the ones that really stand out:
Alexander.J Le Royal
I do not know how the criteria afford/can-not-afford is set,
an un-affordable IMHO is if it is more than your salary.
So for me, I buy what I like, regardless how much.
Two weeks ago while I was in Dubai
Helmut lang EDP (thanks hedonist)
