yep thanks for that. I will look into it
It has been a long time.
I have lost track of our beloved perfumes for a while and need some help.
In your opinion what are the top 5 arabic atr (non-alcoholic perfume rollers)...
Thanks for all your inputs, I'm going to have trip down to these places this week....
It's been a long time since I posted here, I hope all you fumeheads are doing well. I have moved from the UK to Japan but I'm struggling to find niche perfumery. I have found a few stores that stock...
tried this in Selfridges London, last week and I must say it is very nice. It's perfect for evening wear
A while ago I remember someone mentioning that some of the Amouage scents are being reproduced in extrait form. I haven't found an exclusive thread for the review of these scents so I made my own.
Wow just caught this is time. Left a comment and see how things go. Thank you cairo!!!!
I really like XXY as well!
Musc Ravageur by Fredric Malle
thank you for posting
A lot of people have taken to Aventus (especially for hot weather) and the few people that I know that have tested it really like it!
thanks for all the suggestions. If anyone has further Arabian musk experience then feel free to add to the list above.
I was wandering what your top musk fragrances are? I would really like to veer into the world of musks yet know so little about them. I prefer anamalic musks as opposed to body odour musks.
Good news, thank you cairo!
Well it is more the combination of tobacco and saffron. The saffron in particular dwindles out much too quickly but overall this scent is simply fantastic, however Homage is not too far behind though.
Tribute for me, although I would prefer the top notes to persist for longer.
I've been meaning to try this one for ages. You can buy a sample set from Parfums MDCI's official website for cheap.
Anyone got more info on this scent?
Try Jasmin Imperatrice Eugenie. The best Creed in my opinion.
I thought I would bump this thread in case anyone couldn't find it. Interesting choices so far.
Tom Ford-Neroli Portofino
First it was Xerjoff Richwood, then it was Puredistance M and now we have Epic Women extrait. Too many good perfumes coming out that we can't afford!
great reviews so far. Richwood sounds amazing!
Jasmin Imperatrice Eugenie by Creed.
Ah man oh man Xerjoff do some nice scents and this should be a treat.
I've never tried this one, you've got me curious because I like most of the Tom Ford scents.
Try sending a personal message to Cairomerta. He knows the Xerjoff people very well and would know.
YSL Opium Pour Homme (EDP version as opposed to EDT)- this scent is probably my favourite designer scent but bear in mind that it is more of an evening scent in my opinion but when sprayed lightly it...
Ditto this comment!
Absolutely, its my favourite oriental alongside Chergui and besides that most people wouldn't know Amouage like they know Chanel or Guerlain so they wouldn't necessarily know its a feminine scent if...
Thank for all the suggestion so far, keep them coming :D
Inspired by testing Olene by Diptyque I was wandering what your thoughts are on the best white flower fragrance acceptable to wear for a man.
Only two I regard as 10/10
Creed Jasmin Imperatrice Eugenie
A worthy third is
Amouage Jubilation XXV
Well I sent an email as well. I believe a similar petition on Facebook to reinstate the Wispa Chocolate bar worked and it is now re-released. You never know.
Hednic I often see that you give obscure suggestions, please try to leave the name of the fragrance company, sometimes I can't the fragrances your talking about, thanks.
looking forward to it Trebor, it will refreshing to know that there will be an honest blog from a trusted member of Basenotes that we can rely on for reviews.
Nice review there. Another scent gone into the wait to start working after University to afford book...
Xerjoff are my favourite house overall.
Wasn't Black Musk by Montale mentioned as a very good musk scent by our very own resident cairomerta!?
Go for Uden, Its the best non synthetic smelling aquatic I have ever smelled.
Hey Cairo! great post. I really hope they offer these in refill at Harrods like they use to. £90 was just right!! Lobby them into it :D
Beyond love is my favourite from the line. I bought it and have gotten nothing but compliments from my University friends since using it. It's unique and wonderfully smelling.
I can't keep up with all these Montale releases!
I guess I'll stick to Black musk and Aoud Amber Roses for the near future and work out the rest later.
The first major hits for me as a teen, they pretty much epitomise choices in my current fragrance collection
Ambre Russe is among my favourite amber scents. It perfectly re-creates the time and history of the location it tries to emulate. On top of that the scent is fantastic. To me its a cross between...
I agree with A Travers le Mirior being the best and agree again that they have this sickly sweet (Joop Homme) vibe but notched down. This is where we differ because I actually like this quality. It...
I have a set actually and they are very nice. As you obviously guessed they are reduced in perfume but set the perfect backdrop for layering. If you were say to use dia (f) body cream and then the...
Just found out they charge 20 euros just for delivery! That just ruins the fact you will be buying a refill. :(
Most designer houses are disappointing with only a few exceptional scents that are ok amongst the designer scents. I try to pass most of them apart from Chanel and Guerlain.
This may be possible but If only that one signature scent is head and heels above the rest. Otherwise you have a few five star fragrances that are all great for different reasons. Admittedly the...
I like that you have done your research and have been brave enough to go for the jugular so to speak. Nice list although I would go for Beyond Love/A Taste of Heaven from By Kilian. Another scent...
Has anyone else tried this set of niche perfumes? If so what are your views?
Has anyone tried anything now mentioned above? I have had a hyacinth craving lately
At the moment I would use MPG's Ambre Precieux from my collection
but wishlist of formal scents-Tobacco Vanille, Green Irish Tweed.
cool, this sounds like a great scent. However I feel as if I need to test all the other Montale scents to 'understand' any new releases. Without that I will lost as to where the new scents fit in...
thank you very much! that helped a lot
from the link above there seems to be an option to refill the scents but I wanted to ask if anyone has tried buying the 50ml refills and if yes, do...
just as a side note, I am very interested in IB, how would you rate it?
thought I would get more views on this one as it seems to have gone under radar on BN's
oo still a little too pricey. They used to have the shooting star range in refills at Harrods but they took that range out and they only cost £90 a bottle back then!!!.
Homme remains my absolute favourite from this house, I just wish they had refill bottles or something for a 1/3 of the price.
You can buy some of them from here-http://shop.lessenteurs.com/category/1877/Perfume_Oil_Attars
and most of the others from here-http://www.fascination-perfumery.co.uk/acatalog/Attars.html
I would say no. It doesn't smell nice as a perfume. When I compare it to some of my favourites its very average, distinctive yes but very average.
I agree that Homage is more of an everyday scent and that Tribute is more for special occasions but I like Tribute more, its more distinctive and a signature scent if there ever was one.
Ok if your looking for Niche that is very nice everyday I say go for an amber scent and more precisely Blue Amber by Montale.
Its completely different to what most people are used to and its very...
I really thought there would be more thought on these perfumes!
The line is advertised above and they are quite pricey for the amount given. Have you tried these and if yes then what...
Tried this today, ok but nothing outstanding got to say. Maybe I need another try...
3 of my favourites so far.
Tobacco Vanille (business scent)
Noir de Noir (evening time scent)
Oud Wood (this is great for the summer)
I contacted the Roja Dove Haute Perfumerie at Harrods London and had a brief conversation with the SA. I asked for this top 3 or mostly liked perfumes and mentioned Uden by Xerjoff and surprisingly...
thank you for all the replies. Are the comparisons true about Invasion Barbare being closely related to Le Male? Because I really like Le Male but find it too common
Hi, I would like to have some contemporary reviews on this scent from the french pefume house MDCI. It seems that this scent could be holy grail material if I'm not mistaken. Also I would like to ask...
I would say around 1 in 20 is about right. However that said I buy more frequently from niche houses as compared to designer houses where I reckon the rate is more like 1 in 50 or 1 in 60.
try Un Crime Exotique from Parfumerie Generale
I enjoy No 88
Oxford & Cambridge
and Frankincense and Myrrh
However I find that their fragrances seem to suit certain occasions that don't often occur regularly. For...
A lavender with bite however it's not totally animalic-A Taste Of Heaven-By Kilian
A La Nuit-Serge Lutens this is a great scent in hot weather
trying the library collectiion made you feel as if you were stood in an ancient dusty library. Not to my taste, I would assume that they would suit the older generation.
Homme for me.
I tried Tribute for the first time around a month ago and must reiterate the sentiments of many people on this thread. It is a fantastic scent and I am a huge fan. Sadly the price puts it at the...
thank you cairo I have taken to Creed lately and find any new news exciting, especially after trying
Windsor courtesy of yours truly
I will weigh in with a review of Homme since I'm so impressed with Xerjoff. First of all the ingredients of the scents are truly great and if anyone had problems warranting niche prices this will NOT...
that would be extremely useful test, thanks.
Italian would you recommend the Jasmine attar for men? And when you bought it for your wife did it have good longevity and sillage?
I have quite longish hair and I want to smooth it back with a comb but my hair is too fine and blows around in the slightest wind. Are there any very good quality hair oils I can use or even scented...
Hows the longevity on those attars mentioned above?
any experience with the Jasmine Maliki yet?
Thinking of switching to oil attars for a while and was just wandering which ones you have tried and have been very impressed with. This can be the traditional famous Arabic houses or otherwise. I'm...
Have you managed to try Jasmine Maliki yet dred? If so what are the smell, sillage and longevity like?
I think these stereotypes predominantly exist in western culture. Perfumes are very popular amongst men in the middle east where I'm from and you will never be called 'girly' because smelling...
Please get back to me on the Jasmine Maliki. I have been pondering over the Amouage jasmine attar or this one.
Has anyone tried the Jasmine (regular) or Jasmine Maliki?
Its listed on page 10/25 in this link. I emailed Zahras.com and they said that these attars are better than Homage by Amouage so I wanted...
thank you for the post! I am also a big jasmine fan but wasn't sure if this attar had any class or longevity before deciding to pursue a sample.
I emailed Vero Profumo about the EDP's and this is what I got back:
Thank you very much for your interest in the Vero Profumo scents.
To your first question:
The EDP versions of the three...
mmm Rubj sounds absolutely delicious. I think I may go for a sample If I find more enthusiastic posts ushering me along.
Has anyone else had a chance to try this line? I'm particularly interested in Rubj!
