Glad you're enjoying it :-)
Pleasure's all mine :-)
Haha, funny stories.
Mine mostly have to do w/ the Nordstrom near my place. Every time I go visit the men's fragrances section I'm hounded by a certain SA that would not stop asking to spray men....
Gucci pour Homme I
Vetiver threads popping up left and right, I LOVE it. If you can, try Dior Vetiver. It's by far the best vetiver fragrance I've encountered. My second favorite vetiver fragrance is Les Nez Turtle...
A good one as well. Very different indeed...Mild and very woody with a light smokiness, very smooth...almost smells like damp freshly cut wood that's seen smoke.
Most definitely! Dior Vetiver and 2 Man I could rotate any month. The other two I threw in are quality "fluff" haha :-) 2 Man satisfies my smoky vetiver and Dior Vetiver is fresh and just exudes...
Agreed, a great cedar is hard to beat. I have a fragrance that I recently created for myself that contains a cedar/frankincense coextract and it's just awesome. A good cedar is very light, very rich...
Without a doubt Amber Absolute for me!
Spring: Anat Fritz Tzora
Summer: Comme des Garcons Vettiveru
Fall: Comme des Garcons 2 Man
Winter: Dior Vetiver
Never tried the Kilian...but I find Sel de Vetiver to be perfect for any time and occasion...I feel Egoiste takes a certain mood, at least for me. So I'm going with TdC Sel De Vetiver as it's the...
Ah, yes. A tip of the hat to drseid as well. I found his review of Anat Fritz Tzora on alfarom's blog very enlightening and it got me to purchase the fragrance which I now thoroughly enjoy as a part...
Mona di Orio Les Nombres d'Or Oud has been on my "to try" list for quite some time. Thanks Shiny Helmut!
I can't stand those magazine flaps...haha.
But to answer your question, Eau for Men has some iris from the original...think Dior Homme had a child with Abercrombie Fierce or Mont Blanc...
This is actually one that I have not tried in the HoM line. But, I got the suggestion from reading information on the attars this fragrance includes to give it an "Indian" feel. I find that their...
Fiss, try Eden Botanicals. They have sample vials, that's a good place to start sniffing natural E/O and not spending a fortune. If you want to venture into sniffing out synthetics, try Perfumeur's...
L'instant de Guerlain pour Homme
Ya, ya,ya...I know...I ragged on it but I got it at a GREAT price and it's been discontinued. If I change my mind on the fragrance, I have it...if not, I can sell it. But, I can't see an incense pass...
I want a big botte SO bad! Just got a 15ml this week. Have a feeling I'm going to rip though it.
The best fragrance I've created thus far smells somewhat like NK Incense...but with much more smoke and less sweet labdanum. Some have referred to it as smelling much like incense tossed into a...
I've never heard of reformulations of either...but I would say Lalique Encre Noir as well.
Alfarom also has his own blog which is done incredibly well. He has ratings there and occasionally gives out a 10/10. I urge you to check it out.
Honestly, Blackbird is one of the most impressive scents I've smelled to date. Definitely a tough one to match up to, no doubt.
Dior Homme Eau for Men or Dior Homme Sport. Both are nice, DHS being a little more mature IMO. Eau is a little more youthful and playful, fitting for the summer months most definitely.
Glad your date went well. Women love Dior Homme.
Narciso Rodriguez for Men Musc Collection
The batch code should be at the bottom of the box. Several threads on here will give you an idea of what's in the box (silver stem.)
Narciso Rodriguez Musc Collection...not a buy. But blind trade.
Honestly, I find this one sits a little closer to the skin than most. Sometimes I feel like I can't smell it 6 hours in...and my girlfriend will assure me, it's there.
You may want to try House of Matriarch The Maj which is all about the Indian vibe.
CdG Vettiveru is my only cologne and by far my favorite of any I've tried.
Another for Helmut Lang, both Curion and EdP. I have too many bottles of GpH to be honest, I'll never go though them all.
Yes, it's been gone for about a year now. Also, his website is under construction while he switches packaging.
I don't know...between Bond No. 9 Wall Street (100ml), GpH II (100ml) and Lalique Encre Noire (100ml.) All are concrete anchors.
Testing MH Amber Tar at work...bonfire and incense. We'll see if it's well received.
I've heard such conflicting things about Pulp and the line in general. However, this one does sound very interesting to me.I need to try it soon. Possibly when I'm at Barney's in SF.
I'm not from the south but I do like the outdoors, fishing, beer, sports (especially football) so basically...I'm a southerner at heart. I love Hypnotic Poison on my girlfriend, another one you may...
Narciso Rodriguez Musc for Men has a nice berry note, however, it's got too much musk for my liking.
Dior Homme for sure.
Smell Bent Incensed Short Fused - Cardamom and pepper on top, awaiting the dry down.
Dior Homme Eau for Men seems a liitle more young and playful than DHS. I would check that out if you're near a Macy's.
Shipping was bundled into the cost I believe. $80 out the door with shipping from Canada to Chicago.
I spilled about 7ml of Norma Kamali Incense in my office after receiving the package. The nozzle was threaded, I was unaware and it ended up spilling near my desk. Co-workers were all...
Not medicinal IMO and the fragrance has a Mild sweetness. Not much menthol...it's actually a hard one to describe. You'll find out soon enough :-) Good stuff.
Dior's is the best honestly. But, I do enjoy Vettiveru, Lubin Itasca and Anat Fritz Tzora.
Definitely don't get cotton candy. I do get a smooth eucalyptus, incense and clean cedar vibe though.
I have a 50ml of the EdP, it's incredible stuff. Good to see I'm not the only one diggin' it :-)
It's $80 if you purchase directly through Guerlain in Toronto. Plus, you get free samples of the exclusive Guerlain collection and obviously you know you're getting the real thing.
Try Lanvin Avant Garde if you want a cheaper alternative sweet tobacco scent. I find that it's quite well done.
Bump - removed sold. Added and updated list.
Thanks for the help guys. No blame on Profumo, it is indeed the stringent import/export process of fragrances in this country.
I like Armani Code Sport after the gym.
I love cade and birch tar...but the opening of BLACK just didn't work for me I guess. Not the birch tar I'm used to...even in raw form it's smoother than this maybe due to the huge blast of pepper...
Ya, I'm worried about running into an issue. Thanks for sharing rickbr, sounds like I would love this one.
LIDG for me.
Tzora is nice as well. I find Classical and Tzora to be PERFECT for spring wear. Nice and light but extremely long lasting.
I'm not opposed to wearing heavy fragrances in the heat...but this...
Happy Birthday vinarmani90!
Went w/ Tom Ford Amber Absolute this snowy day in the middle of March...sick of this damn weather. The only good thing...I get to wear some of my favorites w/ reckless...
Anyone here ever tried Chilum by La Via del Profumo? I'm looking for thoughts and anyone that's purchased w/i the U.S...had any problems receiving? Also is it worth the price tag? Sounds quite...
My advice would be to start testing fragrances in department stores. It sounds like you've read and watched too much on the internet that contains opinions and not tested on your own. Get out there...
I personally like Comme des Garcons Sequoia and Vettiveru, also DSquared2 He Wood Ocean Wet Wood when it heats up. Dior's Eau for Men is newer and nice, if you're looking for something truly NEW NEW.
Had to sell off quite a bit of my collection...but...it was all worth it: House of Matriarch Blackbird.
Tom Ford Oud Wood after a run, shower and dinner. Topped off with a Dale's Pale Ale.
Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille - Solid vanilla scent, just very similar to L'occitane Eau de Baux with more vanille and about 5x the price.
I would go with Legend, my girlfriend really enjoys it. In fact, it's probably her favorite in my collection unfortunately...not the worst stuff in the world just not very unique.
At least for me since I hate using lotion...this winter has been horrible for my skin. It's always dry and completely soaking up fragrances. That could have something to do with it as well. Not sure...
Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille - smells quite similar to Eau de Baux honestly. Cedar, incense and vanilla.
Dior Homme Eau for Men would probably be to your liking.
Welcome! From your list, Chanel PE or L'homme would be the two most versatile IMO. I would check out Gucci pour Homme II or Comme des Garcons Vettiveru. Both are nice light scents that have good...
I've owned D2 Ocean Wet Wood for the past two years, I bought it when I first got into fragrances. Girlfriend loves it, it's got tenacious longevity, it's somewhat unique and it just smells great....
Smell Bent - Dry from a sample
Loved Baque, it was way too strong for me though. I wish it was released in extrait, I would wear it ALL the time. My favorites are definitely Rume EdP and the new Vikt.
Ocean Wet Wood is a nice one!
Many people say Dior Homme is a suit and tie type fragrance. However, I have no issues wearing it with a t-shirt and jeans. To work when I'm sitting at a desk all day or when I'm at a wedding. I...
Comme des Garcons
Winter - Zagorsk
Spring - Sequoia
Summer - Ouarzazate
Fall - 2 Man
No problem, a fragrance that's somewhat done in the same vein is Comme des Garcons Sequoia. You may want to check that one out...it's quite nice. Similar performance and I've gotten compliments on it...
As Jack says. It is a very fresh piney vetiver fragrance with undertones of berries and just the faintest hint of citrus. I easily get 8-10+ hours on clothing and 7-9+ hours on skin while projecting...
Comme des Garcons has cedar in many fragrances. In addition to Hinoki, Zagorsk offers a colder fir/incense/cedar...CdG for H&M is another example of the use of cold cedar accords. Gucci pour Homme I...
I prefer 2 Man, I owned a bottle of Black for a few weeks and it just wasn't my thing. It dried down into a beautiful dark woody incense, however, the opening was a little too much for me in terms of...
Be careful if you work with labdanum absolute, it's a pretty sticky dark material...pretty hard to get out of clothes FYI...I learned from experience. Labdanum Absolute smells divine, but it is about...
Labdanum to me smells like a rich and somewhat smokey resin with a syrup-like sweetness. Sometimes I get undertones of faint leather and a mild dustiness.
Comme des Garcons 2 Man - It's been a long time since my last wear. Every time I come back I realize why this is my favorite scent.
Wonderwood didn't really do anything for me, I owned it and sold it. Still have Encre Noir, but rarely wear it as I have quite a few more vetivers that I prefer more. I found Wonderwood to be a...
Anat Fritz Tzora
I finally got some oud from it tonight as well, a little skanky oud in the top if you sniff hard (I have allergies at times.) The dry down is definitely a nice one, tobacco and labdanum...
No, it smells like stale piss IMO.
Lanvin Avant Garde after a day with Tom Ford Tobacco Oud (finally smelled the oud in it today - I have bad allergies...) It's a tobacco day!
Hate civet as well. The most prominent note...definitely in Dior Leather Oud. Not my thing.
Tom Ford Tobacco Oud
Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille - small 5ml decant. I've been on a vanilla kick lately, which is odd for me.
One unfortunate part about Slumberhouse is that it's pretty easy to disregard a fragrance because of a note or two, mostly because of the high concentration...the notes stick for a while, even though...
Wanted - House of Matriarch Blackbird
Have to trade:
Yves Saint Laurent M7 (100ml w/ box - reformulated)
Gucci pour Homme I (50ml BNIB & Cellophane Wrapped)
Tom Ford Amber Absolute (10ml...
Yes, I believe it is EdP. Extraits didn't come until later on, in the cylindrical bottles as lpp points out. At least this is my understanding. The move to extraits happened only a little over a year...
It would effect my purchasing of fragrances for sure, but I wouldn't just go crazy and buy up anything I had a slight interest in. I would still most likely research and test first and buy things I...
I would head to Barney's while you're up here. When you're there be sure to check out the Acqua di Parma collection, it's chalked full of compliment getting summer fragrances. Additionally, if they...
I haven't tried all 4. However, M Generation and Ouarzazate are quite similar IMO. Both are warm, slightly spicy, balsamic, guaiac wood (spicy-woody) and have a good amount of incense. M Generation...
Lubin Itasca is a nice woody aromatic in the niche realm, very woody, very clean. Dsquared2 Potion is a more affordable woody/amber warm but crisp aromatic.
Dior Homme Sport is very nice, not much...
