Just tried Guerlain Vetiver. I fall in the camp that doesn't love it. Bought a vintage mini-bottle. Smells too old fashioned. Plus, I don't get much vetiver, even in the dry down. Maybe I am...
Shipping is $7 in the US, $15 Internationally.
Sisley, Eau de Campagne, 250ml, 75% full, no box, $60
Commes des Garcons, Vettiveru, 125 ml, 75% full, cap, no box, $30
I have tried eveything in the hopes that there is an over the counter miracle, but as everyone mentions, it just doesnt exist. One can just use good products to take care of teh skin. Wash,...
revised, added MR
I got my bottle yesterday from Collette. Can't decide if I love it. It's interesting. Feels in the same vein as Les Nez L'Antimatiere and a little L'Air de Rien, which I love, but on steroids. No...
Guerlain Bois D'Armenie
http://www.luckyscent.com/images/products/31512.jpgPerfect for these hot California days.
No surprises here. I understand the need to be mainstream, but it does't have to be boring. And this is a major snoozer.
Etat Libre D'Orange
Musc Koulai Khan is crazy sexy on a man, and in a differnt vein A la Nuit. Worn with confidence, it a huge turn on.
PdN Vanille Intense - Vanilla and Incense. Very well done. You might also want to check out PdN's Tonka Vanille. I little lighter on the vanilla with some tangerine and lime thrown in.
Guerlain - Cologne du 68
Guerlain - Bois D'Armenie
Mixing today, Comptoir Sud Pacifique Aqua Motu and Bond #9 Fire Island.
I agree here. It doesn't overpower at any level. I think when we are so used to Niche, something so safe begins to fell ordinary. Taken on it's own, I think Voyage is a nice, well balanced, wear...
Diptyque - Philosykos
Fiore di Ambra is nice. I fall on the side of thinking Ambra Aurea is much nicer though. It is stronger and heavier on the ambergris, but is addictive. I think that Fiore is more soft and feminine...
I like Aquae Nobilis better than Victrix. It is less assertive. I get a sharp blast of green vetiver in the opening. It then mellows and sweetens a little. I detect the geranium slightly and the...
Heeley Menthe Fraiche
Has anyone tried CB I Hate Perfume's Revelation?
I'm going to try Pilosykos too!!!!! Just waiting for my decant. Then I'll validate.
I tried the Heeley and found it pretty excellent. Very leafy. It's on my shortlist.
Would love opinions on the best fig scent out there. Not looking for something overly sweet? Maybe more stems/leaves with a hint of fruit.
Serge Lutens Douce Amere
What a shame it's being discontinued. So warm and cool at the same time. Love it!!!!
Growing on me with each try
Have there been 2 reformulations? I swear when it first came out years ago, it was true brown. Now the bottle I recently traded for seems purple-ish brown. Is it just my faulty memory?
Fantastic article. My wardrobe is bogged down with fall/winter scents. Bois Naufrage and Buddha's Fig sound particularly wonderful!
Serge Lutens Sarrasins
I'm with hednic. Something about it calls me back every so often. It's nice in summer. On me there is a musky base that makes it interesting to re-visit.
Would love everyone's opinion on the most indolic jasmine and neroli scents they have tried. Looking to try some new ones. Thanks!
Geranium pour Monsieur
+1 The Pour Un Ete, IMO the best tea scent out there.
Serge Lutens Mandarine Mandarin (from a sample)...
Love L'Air de Rien, so very interested to hear what the new one is like.
Has anyone had the chance to test this yet? I have had great luck with Heeley so am eager to hear about it.
I second A LA NUIT and also recommend SL's SARRASINS.
Ambre 114 or Ambre Precieux for softer amber. Profumum's Ambra Aurea for a more forceful Amber. But Ambre Russe, Ambre Sultan, and Amber Absolute are al worthy.
Touaregh, Patchoulli Noir and Vetiver de Java are the best of what I have tried. The 3 Chocolate ones are all too sweet on me.
you should sample Il Profumo's Taouregh and Josef Statkus. They might be up your alley. Taouregh is an interesting take on spices, and JS a complex incense.
Spicy yet sooooo smooth!
Great post. Mine would be:
Base: Amber and Musk
Muscs Koublai Khan and L'Air de Rien. Probably my two favorites, but didn't get them when I first tried.
This is a disturbingly tough choice. Two of my absolute faves. I need to think about it some more.....
I think Ambre Russe and Cuir Ottoman are great, high quality scents in their class (amber, leather). Easy for any beginner, but very sophisticated. Try those out.
What a great game. I wish I had seen this before last Thursday.
wow. I may have to break down and order one from les senteurs.
Question for ItallionStallion or anyone else that has tried this. Is it an indolic jasmine or more soft and transparent? I love Jasmine but prefer them to have that stink to them.
I have been searchin for something like this for ages. I hope it is as good as it seems.
Heeley Menthe Fraiche
Serge Lutens - Sarrasins
Jasmine rules. Sarrasins, A la Nuit, Alien...Sexy on men and women!
I think FN is brilliant! For me it is a return to form for the house. Maybe they took a stepo back again with L'Eau, but at least they still have it in them to realease something fantastic.
Come on, it's not that bad. It's not that great either, but it's pleasant. Good for hot SoCal summer days. I admit it's expensive for something that is just "pleasant" though.
LDDM by a mile!
They will definitely take some getting used to. Right now they feel very 'department store".
Profumum Ambra Aurea
Stephanie de Saint-Aignan - Amande Honorable
Helmut Lang -EDP
Does everyone get a different scent reaction to a fragrance that is sprayed on vs. dabbed on out of the bottle? I have had a few experiences now where I have purchased samples and liked what I got....
The gimmick is getting old IMO. I was on a kick for a while, wanted to like their scents, but alas, didnt keep any that I had. For as many products that they have, there should be more memeorable...
I am always in the mood for another scent based on labdanum. The other notes sound like they will blend very well.
Comme Des Garcons EDP - God awful. Couldn't rub it off quick enough. Unfortunately, the scent sticks to your sking like glue.
I weigh in the side that they are completely different. IMO a safe blind buy. The best of the Tauers, bold, not wierd or off putting. It's one of my favorites, so I'm biased, but it really is one...
Asha, how is the parfum compared to the EDP. Worth a blind buy?
Helut Lang on top of MKK. Smooooth Musk Heaven!
Bois 1920 Real Patchouly
Serge Lutens Muscs Koublai Khan
Le Labo Labdanum 18
has anyone tried Amande Honorable? Thoughts?
Hey N_Tesla. I'm intersted to hear what you tried and your thoughts on those. The idea you were looking for is appealing to me.
Neither is my style, but I vote for Coach.
Ambre Aurea by Profumum is AMAZING!!!
so circling back, if I have the edp, is it senseless to get the edc? ( I also have le labo labdanum 18 and am going to get Smell Bent Commando). Am I overdoing the genre?
Thanks for the feedback everyone!
Is it in the realm of an Ambre Russe-style Amber, or more like Ambre Precieux? Or none of the above?
Is the Helmut Lang EDC that they target for men just a lighter version of Helmut lang EDP?
Knize is a little less common as well. You can't really go wrong with it.
Does anyone have an opinion on the Donna Karan Essence scents? Also, what about the oils vs. EDTs? What are the differences.
Does anyone have any experience with how the oils compare to the EDT for the DK essences?
Puro Lino EDT pretty much has it down pat.
All prices include shipping in the US . Shipping outside North America + $12.
Frederic Malle, Musc Ravageur, 50 ml, 65-70% full, cap but no box, $80 SOLD
Borsari 1870, Acqua Classica, 300 ml,...
Yeah, I seemed to have been ripped off by The Attorney as well. Sent my money on Sept 22 and havent heard anything since.
I also bought the partial of Santal Noble for $65 + $5 shipping.
I have found out that Ambra Grisea is only sold in the Florence store. I got my sample from the perfumed court and it is pretty amazing. True Ambergris that lasts and lasts. Not for the faint of...
Help! I recently tried I Profumi's Ambra Grisea and love it. I don't think it is sold in the US though. Does anyone know any websites that have it?
L'Air de Rien
I've seen all the raves about MPG's Ambre Precieux. Is it really that good. Is it significantly more interesting than Ambre Sultan or Ambre Russe?
I smelled it recently at Heathrow duty free. I thought it was much better that the homme version and definitely unisex. Rich with some vanilla as I remember but definitely amber-y. I would purchase...
