(Discontinued) L'Occitane Jasmin d'Egypte
Lovely and luxe.
Serge Lutens Sa Majeste La Rose.
Late to the party but today wearing Mitsouko parfum in the 2009 version, before the reformulation and subsequent re-reformulation of 2013.
More hugs for Knit.
Agree with Cacio on this. The Cuir Mauresque is a spicy amber leather and almost identical to the much pricier parfum Prada Cuir Amber. The Cuir Cannage is a floral leather like PdE Cuir Ottoman...
The 1740 Marquis de Sade is an immortelle/patchouli with leather and worth a start.
The 1725 Casanova is very much dominated with lavender.
Also try the 1889 Moulin Rouge as it's a...
Try something with a frangipani/plumeria note.
Go for some island-made perfumes:
Some people like the smell of "clean" citrus and florals.
On the other hand, some people like the "skank" in some perfumes, and this means animalic musks and civet. Jasmine and other florals have...
If these are the notes, one might try Estee Lauder Amber Mystique. It's a woody/amber/oud/rose/leather.
Not officially released in the U.S. but available from e-tailers.
There is also the Silhouette from the same colletion, but Embers, indeed, is smokier.
I dislike too much clove.
Agree with this 100% ^^^ . I collect. Sometimes I give a bottle away, but I collect for several reasons.
Today, it's my go to "green" scent: Chanel No. 19. I own it in all its forms, but am wearing the parfum today as it's rather cold outside.
I thought of Miss Dior (the original) or my LOVE Vol...
Agree that all fragrances require a test first.
Musc Ravageur in the body cream form!
I am bumping this, 'cause our 30Roses is very special!
That is so adorable! ^^
Any more news on this?
I can't think of what is like Angel Gold, but the Angel Divine and a very good scent. Divine is an amber scent.
It's discontinued but you can find it at e-tailers.
Beautiful and classic.
Agree here. A light fragrance really undermines the point of wearing one.
MPG Ambre Precieux
SL Ambre Sultan
Pafums d'Empire Ambre Russe
Histoires de Parfums
For a very light leather, try the Acqua Classica by Borsari.
I agree with the review by Foetidus:
Frederic Malle Dries Van Noten. A subtle sandalwood.
The usual gift for men is a Dopp kip. These can come in handy but if you have too many, the go out to relatives.
As you like Boucheron Pour Homme, how about trying their Jaipur Pour Homme?
Here is a link to the synchronized Fridays:
Mike, I think it's only in the boutiques. I called the one in my city and they had it but did not have testers. They told be I had to buy blind.
Do Barneys or Bergdorf carry it?
Welcome, MissMoss! Jump right in an enjoy!
About 4711, here is link from BN member the_good_life:
That will help.
I like Fahrenheit on a man and also for a woman who likes it.
Yes, Scarce, Poison came to mind. You can clear a room with this. I recall in the 1980s that restaurants forbade women from wearing this.
How about KENZO JUNGLE L'Elephant?
I just want to say, "Thank you," to our 30 Roses, a tireless veteran Basenoter with boundless enthusiasm for sharing!!
Roses, a BIG thank you! :dankk2: :2vrolijk_08:
I have a sample that I have yet to try. Love fragrances, and yet not too keen on getting sunglasses with my fragrance as a matter of course.
I hope he is well. He was last here November of 2014. I know he got a new job or something...
Anyhow, we now have a new influx of members who love fragrance!
I find Coromandel a nice patchouli gourmand which is genderless.
Welcome to the former POL members and mods!
BTW, does anyone know what happened to Prince Barry? He is a member here and also on POL.
No matter. I am happy to see old faces and new ones--all...
Thank you for the news, furry, and thank you for the link, Mumsy.
My first thought was this. ^^ You can buy lots of 10s on eBay. Someone is making money on the sales of samples.
Parfums de Coeur, now known as PDC, makes Body Heat. It's a gourmand scent. It's not on the PDC site but you can still find it on Amazon.
Not a bad scent. Similar to One Million in vibe.
The Travalo and other pump-type vials are good for travel and a snap to fill, but they are NOT for storage. Decant only how much you think you will use on your trip.
They evaporate. I once had...
I am not sure about organic, but Malin + Goetsch offer natural, cruelty-free scents.
The Dark Rum EDT is quite good.
There are several vendors on the US Amazon offering the parfum.
The Dior boutiques don't have it yet.
Interesting name. Any news, anyone?
+1 for SL A La Nuit.
Also try Sarrasins, but the EDP stains like grapejuice! A wonderful jasmine leather!
Prefer the parfum. The EDP is a little too sweet and has no leather. :(
Late to the party, but Roses, you are a sweetheart for doing this!
I need to add to this list: Chanel Beige!
+1 for Coco Mademoiselle. This settles in to wonderful amber.
Happy wishes for your cousin and new brother-in-law!
Hedonist, that was hilarious--yes, milking the fans of Shalimar.
I recall the Eau Legere, which was wonderful. I still have this in the attached spray cap in the horrid batwing bottle.
Welcome! I know some fragrance oils, such as some of the Le Labo scents, are cloudy when cold.
It's hard to say if contamination has occurred or not without knowing the scent and the conditions...
Didn't Cumming have heather along with whiskey?
I know this was sold by Sephora online but not any longer.
It may still be in stores.
I also adore 24, Faubourg in the EDP. What a wonderful scent. :) Released only in the 1990s but with a classic feel. I love the orange and amber.
For me, it's time to break out YSL Paris in the EDT. I also like Houbigant Oranger en Fleurs.
Violetta di Parma EDP is also a nice choice.
Chotato! This is HILARIOUS!
Dior Homme L'Eau
The male body is a timeless image of masculinity.
Thank you for posting, Mike. I only have the original and the Fleur Defendue.
It's a nice scent, but I wish it had the power of others in the line, such as Chergui.
What about Santal Massoia by Hermes? Is this to light for most people's tastes?
Otherwise, I adore Samsara and Bois des Iles.
Wow, HDDB, thank you for the news.
I like the core values and the cruelty-free.
I like Dior Oud Ispahan, Estee Lauder Amber Mystique and YSL M7.
How kind you are, and what an eclectic woman!
As she likes White Diamonds, she likes classics, and she also Cherry Blossom. BTW, there are two scents from BBW, and one is called Japanese Cherry...
Hednic is a true gentleman and true lover of fragrance, and always willing to share his expansive knowledge.
Bravo for the 100,000!
Spicebomb came to mind.
Any comments on this scent or the line?
Agree with this 100%.
M7/M7 Oud Absolu
Opium, the original
I happen to like Bois d'Argent but like Ambre Nuit better.
The only companies that make "smell alikes" (as apart from counterfeits, which are passing themselves off as the real thing) are Parfums de Coeur, now called PDC, and Belcam. Some of their scents...
Welcome, Redjake! Jump in and enjoy! Share and discuss!
I don't find the latest ones interesting either. I enjoy Cruel Intentions and adore Back to Black.
The Good Girl Gone Bad was just another heavy floral to me.
This is hilarious!
I like the whimsical perfume bottle purses! Too bad all I have is a t-shirt with a perfume bottle on it!
Guerlain reformulations of late have been very good and improvements. i know this is the case with Mitsouko.
+1 Histoires de Parfums Moulin Rouge
This looks like a demonstration bottle with the notes on the back. Is this a 50 ml? I would guess this is from the 1980s.
Try to contact Monsieur Guerlain's site:
I wonder how much it will hold! :2vrolijk_08:
What would I put in it? An atomizer of one of my scents.
Reminds me of a Salvatore Ferragamo bottle.
The man in my life wears anything I give him. He prefers Dior Homme.
The Emulsion Velours for hands is wonderful with a divine almond scent.
Lalique Encre Noire and Chanel Sycomore.
EdP Musc Ravageur and Le Labo Labdanum. Same "father."
A perceptive woman!
Wondering about all the dislike to Aramis here. It's the brother of Azuree, and, for me, both are wonderful scents.
Bottom line: a woman who is attracted to a man...
Thank you, hedonist!
Enjoy, Bokaba! I find LHB to be very unisex with the herbal Guerlinade.
I looks like some boutiques want you to blind buy scents that cost $250 as they don't even have testers.
I enjoy the Abdul Samad al Qurashi Taif Rose (a unisex) and also Swiss Arabian Mukhalat Malaki and Mukhalat Barq for men and women.
An honest man's take on fragrance: (Has anyone posted this one? I could not find it.)
I like his honest, "There is no shame in my game." He admits he does not like Creed.
OK, it's an...
Thank you for the link.
+1 This was my first thought.
Another is Cuir de Lancome.
Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur.
+1 on this. The parfum and the EDP of Habit Rouge have agarwood while the EDT does not.
I would also suggest Ambre Russe by Parfum d'Empire.
Great news, evansimp! Scent Bar is such an oasis for scent lovers!
Thank you and a tip of the hat to the new mods!
