Roadster for me, but careful with the trigger.
I find OW boring and sans oud.
Bang on for me.
Yes, it is a modified version of Palace, the Creed only 'Royal Palace'
I have original DHI and DH from 2012 IIRC. To be honest I don't find either of them to be 'feminine'. I'm also in the growing minority that reckons DH is the least feminine of the two, mainly due to...
You seem determined to convince yourself it is fake so just send it back rather than repeatedly ask 'is it ok' or 'but.....'.
I get above average longevity and good projection also. Forgot about the chocolate note also - very nice. I just wish it were a bit more oud and saffron-centric, but then that might upset the...
I too have just bought Oud Alif. To me the oud is not so prominent and is drowned out by the leather and patchouli. It is very nice though, hence the purchase.
Manchester - Selfridges and Harvey Nichols
Trafford centre - Selfridges and John Lewis
Debenhams also stock a pretty good range in most stores.
Get in, get sampling and see what you like -...
I agree with this comment. If it is from a reputable seller and smells OK then it is very likely OK. Good choice BTW
Love it. Longevity is below average for me. Good projection for 1-2 hours, but I'm never bothered about that - the fragrance is for me.
No leather for me.
That is a very good price (by UK standards). As Hednic says, try it first. Even at that price point, I would not buy. It is the least inspiring Creed I've tried and is pretty boring in comparison to...
It's certainly not a monster in terms of longevity. It feels quite muted for the first 30 minutes or so then comes to life on me. I get 6-7 hours though it is quite light.
Nah, the Golden Unicorns that wrap them are like robots really.............
Completely agree, on all points. Poor QC and no QA whatsoever.
Good luck Jondedo, looks like you're in for a great sniff fest based on the many fine suggestions here. Enjoy and keep us updated.
Roadster is a good choice but be easy on the trigger. Same with New West.
I would suggest L'eau par Kenzo PH, has a beautiful fresh citrus (yuzu) opening. Certainly available for a good price in...
Much of a muchness I think. On me I recall ES having better longevity, though very close to the skin after 3-4 hours whereas PM just disappears completely. PM is nicer though.
Have you considered...
Very difficult this, for a number of reasons
Under rated (purely because it does not get much attention on here): Parfumerie Generale
Over rated (purely because IMO they rely on their name to...
If you get to try Intrigant Patchouli, maybe give Coze from the same line a go too. Has everything you're after - dusty/earthy patch, chocolate/coffee, bourbon vanilla, ebony wood, pimento, less...
Anyone tried this? Sounds quite interesting, will have to try it myself. Think the founder is ex SVP at Chanel.
Shay and Blue
Top - Oud
Mid - Dark chocolate, saffron
Base - Patchouli, leather
It's very nice in L'Eau par Kenzo pH also.
Easy for me
Probably in that order, but so little between them.
Why? All three are simply stunning fragrances, they knock me dead.
Tried this today. Have to say I'm very impressed and will be investigating further.
Just because you don't like something why insult others who do like it? It's called personal choice, my friend. I agree it is over-hyped and stupidly expensive but hey that's life.
I agree, but I did once buy a bag for a GF - never has so little cost so much. They appear to be very successful though and it is an 'iconic' brand.
Epic, Jubilation or Interlude.
Gold if you like florals
My recommendations would be
Welcome and be prepared for your collection to 'expand'
Though I've never experienced it personally, the Creed batch variation is alleged to be more severe than the Dior reforms. Plus there's a lot of Creed haters on here
Maybe summer vs winter wearing effects?
Beautiful fragrance
edit - have you tried DHI?
Has the market-place disappeared or is it just a glitch on my PC? Used to be splits, for sale and wanted sections........they seem to have disappeared
Edit-found it. Having one of those...
Not Manchester, but The Royal Perfumery in Wigan is superb. Has some older/less common designer brands as well as niche.
Surely someone can innocently start a thread as 'Where is the best place to buy X by Y?' which might solicit a response by PM?
Surely the market place sub-forum caters for the above anyway?
Pray tell me how so. Genuine question.
Also what has regular Egoiste to do with this thread? OP is asking about PE.
I have several small plastic atomisers (don't know which plastic). They seem fine. I have bought some glass ones previously and of the 10, I smashed 2 when trying to fill them. I think good quality...
Current and previous SO were a bit surprised initially, but no hate. I do get discouraged from buying any more though :rolleyesold:
Nothing like Declaration. Roadster is a beautiful cool mint-patchouli fragrance.
Have you tried Declaration Essence? Very nice flanker that has some similarity to the original but has a strong...
OP surely you should be making this purchase based on your own views? Have you tired one, both or neither of them? Which do you prefer?
Can never quite understand this type of thread.
This is my experience with these 2 beauties also. Leather Oud tantalises with the civet, takes it to the edge of good taste but never crosses the boundary - very good fragrance. I think the cumin...
No empties for me.
About 100-110. Cut down my purchases drastically over the last 12 months as I have more than enough to last my lifetime. If there's something I fancy now, I tend to buy a decant rather than full...
Apologies for drifting off topic...........caferacer, my friend has a project ongoing at the moment to build his cafe racer (from a Ducatti I believe). I had never heard of cafe racers prior to this...
I've never tried a roll on but certainly I have smelled the same fragrances 'differently' when applied by dabber vs atomiser, certainly in the top notes.
Not everyone is being condescending to you.
Amouage is based in Oman IIRC.
Noses vary and Christopher Chong is the creative director.
These do sound good, but don't know how easy it is to get hold of them in the UK. Nothing wrong with being a fanboy when the product is excellent - just don't mention J**h by name though
Oh yes! Many people get a strong 'baby powder' vibe; fortunately for me this is only borderlinefleeting and I enjoy Gold very much. It did take maybe 2 years to properly appreciate it and to brave...
Have you tried Gold in the summer (we're talking UK summer here)? Blossoms beautifully (1 spray only as always). I was shocked as I only ever wore it in cold weather previously. Good to see it...
Agree with Dougczar re Tom Ford, some greats there. By Killian is also very highly rated, though I have tried only 3 or 4 of these (v nice).
Epic is an incredible woody spicy fragrance with great (Epic!!) longevity. Very dry, which I love, without being a powder bomb. Nothing floral about it. Take a look at reviews on here and...
Congrats on the Lutens ownership, that is quite some collection. What are the highlights for you?
I have AS, FenA, MKK, FT and decants of TC and Chene. Love 'em all and want to try ISM.
It is a superb line. Epic Man and Jubilation XXV are to die for IMO
I think you can strike lucky if it's an unwanted gift or similar (xmas anyone?). I would be very wary if the seller had multiple bottles. IMO BIN for $30 is v different from auction ending at $30.
Amouage if you want strong. Some stand out florals would be Gold and Lyric. Womens range is also apparently very good.
Ingredients: WATER (AQUA), CITRUS SINENSIS (SWEET ORANGE) OIL, LAVANDULA ANGUSTIFOLIA (LAVENDER) OIL, POGOSTEMON CABLIN (PATCHOULI) OIL, MENTHA X PIPERITA (PEPPERMINT) OIL,...
FWIW I knew what you meant when saying irregardless. As long as I know what someone means I don't feel the need to come across as teacher or criticise the way it is expressed
I couldn't find Wisam on Fragrantica either. There is some on ebay though. May make a bid, starts at £2 or something.
No ebay rip-off here??
Agree with your sentiment though :D
Big question.....................are they worth trying? (Well Wisam anyway ;) )
As JMD says, thanks for the heads up. Piqued my interest now.
How certain can you be that the fragrances are identical? One may have a different oud to the other that smells v similar but is 10x the price.
I'm struggling to understand the scandal/secret/point of this thread. Sorry.
My 3 favourites are Epic, Jubilation XXV and interlude.
You could also consider Reflection along with Silver. I would be amazed if you got many compliments from young ladies when wearing Gold ;)...
Very, very nice collection. Some greats there.
I love the first six of your nine, not tried the remainder. Going by your collection I'm guessing you will have tried Mitsouko?
Have you tried Amouage? How about etat libre d'orange? So many to...
Splash bottles will be more prone to contaminants entering e.g skin flakesdirt from the hands. Going by the fact it is almost full and has a pronounced cloudiness I would not expect it to be this....
Do you know how old it is? Is it a spray or splash bottle?
Beat me to it - Artemis is fantastic.
When I first started buying more fragrances I bought back ups of TdH and GIT. I have long since realised that I have more than enough fragrance for my lifetime and beyond (I rotate a lot), so I don't...
Come on Hednic..........................add it to your collection then tell us what it is like. If you don't like it, I guarantee to buy 0.5 ml from you.
Yes, the seller has some other interesting items but outrageously priced IMO for body oils, soaps and powders.
Interesting to hear your opinion on the state of the juice, impossible for me to...
Stumbled across this on ebay. Anyone have anything similar or hazard a guess as to its age?
Mouchoir de Monsieur
Would love to try it as MdM is a favourite but just too weak/fleeting.
Have a search on here.......I'm sure I've seen that sleeve on a previous query thread.
Yes, it did disappear but has recently made a come back. I still remember an SA saying there is no such thing when I asked if they stocked the regular Egoiste lol.
There should be a sweepstake to guess the number of 'Is my Creed authentic?' type threads there are floating about.
Quite often the checkcosmetic date will be out by 10 years as it seems to take the most recent decade from the batch no. Could yours be from 1998?
This. On me MKK is sometimes nice and dirty other times it is like a box of turkish delight; I much prefer the former. LO is just a very nice scent with a a strong (though not dirty to me) civet...
I think it is difficult for anyone to answer with any certainty. My understanding is that made in the UK is the current formulation, so unless you are buying from a 'private' seller or similar...
You got a good deal and you can always sell on if you don't like, perhaps at a pofit.
I agree with a previous post stating that full retail price is a joke for a fragrance that is dull,...
I know what you mean about the lavender. Many say BdP has a very harsh opening but I don't subscribe to this and it is actually my favourite phase of the scent.
I'm with teardrop on this one.
BTW where id you hear this nonsense? Never heard it myself.
For the homme line, I would recommend L'eau for summer use. Superb grapefuit.
Mouchoir de Monsieur is stunning but is an aquired taste (for me anyway) and is also a bit weak. Jicky (EdT) is smilar...
It sounds as if you have tried both; which do you prefer?
Derby is a fine fragrance, but I do have longevity issues with it (non-vintage formulation). BdP truly is one of my favourites and has no...
Have you considered Bois du Portugal or Tabarome millesime?
Heperd is a good source for splits (assuming you are in USA).
Edit - how about Green Valley? Not tried it but it is...
Epic Man is a fantastic scent.
Some great names here. I would add Olivier Polge and Mona Di Orio to this list (unless I missed them earlier).
I'm sure they will be only too happy to help if they can. There is mumsy, Chris Bartlett (both UK based) and another guy from USA who has written a book (apologies, forgotten his name, but it will...
I can understand your mother's nagging as I imagine it would be quite valuable if it is ambergris. I would recommend a search on here and you will find several threads. I recall there is a poster on...
Of course you are right, there is no harm. However a quick search of the forum, using the function provided, will reveal a multitude of threads on this subject and a whole library of information,...
Appears to have one still available if anyone wants to jump in.
I don't think the OP is asking for fragrances that have just sandalwood and oud per se, more like something having the same vibe as DA. Think OP has already discounted Wonderwood, which I would have...
There is a sticky, specifically for Creed bottles, created recently. Does get a bit tiresome, same old things over and over. Hopefully a mod will move it.
I own and love Aomassai, Coze and Cedre Sandaraque. L'eau guerriere is v nice also but too fleeting for me. I would like to try several others - Cuir d'iris, Hyperescence Matale and L'ombre Fauve...
I am not saying his bottle is not fake, merely that the bottle design is an authentic one. I have exactly the same bottle, bought in person from a bricks and mortar dept store authorised to sell...
Good choice, have you tried any other PG?
Err................did you read the post immediately above yours?
OPs bottle has a genuine design 100%. Just google 'Terre d'Hermes ltd edition bottle 2010' and all will be revealed.
