The heavy dose of rose initially wasn't to my liking. Wore it for the first time in a few months after reading this thread and now have a much higher estimation of this. Real sophisticated!
Terre d'hermes EDT
Costume National Scent Intense. I may have found what I've been looking for. Accords are dialed in just right. Intriguing while still maintaining mass appeal.
Rive Gauche Pour Homme
Rive Gauche tin can
Parfums Retro- Grand Cuir.
Good humor haha
Great idea for a post; learned lots
L'instant de Guerlain Pour Homme. Perfectly calibrated in every way.
My local Nordstrom's rep anticipated stocking it November. I'm in no ruse, plenty of other explorations before that time anyway.
Dior Homme is one of my most complemented. Occasionally I find it too sweet and have to take a break for a period, but I always come back motivated to wear it.
Dior Vetiver, close to 250 mL
As said, Tam Dao EDP. Sold my Gucci Rush men because this was better.
In addition to LDDM, I enjoy Une Rose Cypre.
haha I'd be interested. Followed his career since Juve!
I like this one a lot, but based on my sample from earlier this year the performance is just too poor.
The Different Company- Bergamote
2 Man, 2, Black,, Kyoto, Luxe Patchouli
I'm glad I have this, finally a leather I enjoy.
These two will render many similar fragrances redundant. Probably deserve to be in the wardrobe of everyone looking to acquire the best on the market today.
Finally got Egoiste recently and I'd wear it in all seasons except summer. If using in a work setting, go light
Tom Ford Private Blends:
I'd wear most aything, but for sake of the thread I'll go with Narciso Rodriquez for Her
Only tried newer formulations. Appropriately named, takes a certain personality/environment to wear this well for an under 30.
Chanel Eau de Cologne
I've realized Vetiver is one of, perhaps even my favorite, note. The vetiver in Sycomore is fantastic, although I don't want to diminish the work because there's so much more to it. One afternoon...
Dior Homme. Each one of the line is quality. Allure Homme Sport and its flankers are below par in my opinion.
Genre standard for an Eau de Cologne. It's not meant to last more than 1-3 hours, but for that period it is an adequate anti-depressant! Uplifting and bright.
Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme
I smelled a scent strip in GQ and it fell into the catch-all designer genre. I'll try this at Sephora, though.
Wonderful tea and soft spice, mediocre performance. I've missed it since I sold my bottle; I may get another.
Original Yohji Homme
Dior Homme Parfum
After another day or two of comparing then I will!
If you like Vetyverio I second trying Etat libre d'Orange Fat Electrician. The first time I smelled Fat Electrician I immediately thought of Vetyverio. Perhaps you will find the qualities of...
The diagram is present on the box of the 2008 bottle I have, not on the 2006 one. It is obscured in the photo so it can't be seen. Weired diagram though, who doesn't understand how to remove a cap?
After being in limbo about acquiring M7 over the past three years I decided to look online and see how much damage a bottle would set me back. I kicked the blind-buying habit last year, but felt that...
Thank you Andre, for another very comprehensive resource. I appreciate all the work you've put into your blog
Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum
Enjoyable, comforting, much more than just 'pencil shavings.'
Chanel Eau de Cologne, Dior Vetiver
Somehow I've avoided testing this myself
I'm curious about this too
It hasn't been re-released. Debuted in 2010, taken off the market in Spring 2013, far too soon. This will be a long-term hunt for a used bottle or decant.
New Haarlem is a great gourmond, but its not classified in the same group as Tobacco Vanille. New Haarlem shares more similarity with A*Men. I enjoy Tobacco Vanille but find New Haarlem much too...
Sounds intriguing, I'll keep the house in mind.
L'eau D'Issey. Floral elements counter the citrus sharpness. Great persistence, too
From the four options, Acqua Di Gio
Black Violet... still eluding me
Five years ago I tried Mugler Cologne and washed it off because I could not stand the soapy quality. After five years of experience I will revisit this and compare with Original Vetiver, which, in my...
Having experienced five from the line, Sycomore is my personal favorite, but 31 Rue Cambon is the most intriguing. The grand modern chypre; a wonderful elixir but too refined and otherworldly for...
Very cool Macassar find
Very different, in a wonderful way. For me it's like the feeling of having dilated pupils in the dark. If I can find an older bottle for a reasonable price I'd happily pay for one!
OR Black Pascal Morobito
Chanel Eau de Cologne
Very please with that I've smelled from Maison Francis; my second of his offerings!
Tom of Finland
Maison Francis Kurkdjian APOM Pour Homme
Very excited, and got a good deal on a gently used one.
Either of Chanel's Cuir de Russie or 31 Rue Cambon. The local perfume shop here is receiving Frederic Malle Editions de Parfums in late January, excited to finally sample these!
Comme des Garçons 2
Heeley Iris de Nuit
I've often thought about this and, really, while the term 'smells like an old lady' isn't descriptive in a constructive way, it does have tangible meaning for certain consumers. They hear the term...
I've addressed over the past year by selling most of my purchases I've attributed to blind buys and hype. However, I've not purchased a fragrance I hate. For the museum relics I want to have on...
More Sopranos, this time from Season 2
Carmela: Did you hear about Ralphie Ritaldo... the brazilian he keeps on the side...she had a baby
Tony: And Christopher is in the hospital and this is on...
It was a Guerlain Holiday! Arsene Lupin and Tonka Imperiale
Guerlain Arsene Lupin
Tonka Imperiale. I have not tried Spiritueuse Double Vanille, however.
Bulgari Black and A*Men
Maison Francis Kurkdjian APOM Pour Homme
Guerlain Tonka Imperiale
La Nuit de L'homme
Nautica Voyage is a great bargain
All of mine are regular users, although I've shed almost all of the excess ones this year. I am contemplating purchasing a few historical monuments I want, but may look for decants of them just to...
Burberry London could work well
Haven't tried this, perhaps I'll seek out a sample after hearing about it for years
Smell, performance, price
Black Aoud will cut through any and all winter chill.
Congrats, Green Irish Tweed was one of my first Creed acquisitions. I can still recall the smell without having any with me these days.
Just re-screened season one of The Sopranos
Jimmy: You think I got enough cologne on?
Christopher: You smell like Paco Rabanne crawled up your ass and died.
I was interested in his theory when I read The Emperor of Scent, then felt it was discredited to the point of being invalid. I'll revisit the theory though.
Creed, perhaps more than any other house, has done a great job of converting Basenoters either to devout followers praising the house as the best-thing-since-sliced-bread or fervent haters ready to...
