I adore Tom Ford Noir! Nice purchase!
Oh yes! That definitely shares similarities with Noir. It's gorgeous.
I think it's beautiful. Always go with your own nose, nobody else's!
Question: why do some people take it SO personally when others simply don't like a fragrance that they like? I don't even think the perfumer himself/herself would take offence the way some in here...
Oh, so you know exactly what she was thinking, do you? That's quite a talent.
In my experience, SA's mostly defend new product. It's not their job to be openly negative about a product. Quite the...
I spoke to a SA in a Dublin department store here yesterday and mentioned that I wasn't big a fan of Sauvage. She told me that the reaction has been very poor and it's not selling well at all in that...
I tried it again this weekend. Quite poor longevity and weak sillage for something labelled "intense".
The difference is that the people who dislike Sauvage aren't patronisingly telling those who like it that "Pfft, you'll change your mind in a few weeks". Many of those who love it are under the...
To the people who like and defend Sauvage, can I ask why it's so difficult for you to accept that lots of people simply don't like it and probably NEVER will? Why are their opinions less valid and...
I tried this today in the Brown Thomas store here in Dublin. It's very similar to the original La Nuit. I found it a little drier and darker though. Not sweet or fruity at all. Definitely not like...
Why do some people complain when people slate perfumes? Are we only supposed to praise perfumes in here?
If lots of people hate a fragrance and want to say why they hate it, I don't see why that's...
Feeble fragrance. We might as well devote 14 pages to discussing Gucci Sport. It's cheap, watery, drek. Easily the worst Dior in recent memory.
I didn't like this at all. I love the original Noir EDP, but this one did nothing for me. I found it quite unpleasant actually.
I wouldn't dream of ever purchasing a Dolce and Gabbana fragrance again, following their comments on IVF and marriage equality.
The SA in Dublin's Brown Thomas store hadn't even heard of this!
I really like a few of Dsquared's offerings, but their sillage and longevity are always atrocious. I won't part with money for them, nice though they may be.
Oh why? Do you think TF Noir is ultimately better?
Utterly beautiful fragrance, especially in colder weather. Quite similar to Tom Ford Noir, but not really any of those others listed.
It's beautiful. Soft, warm, sweet, powdery. Perfect for autumn/winter I think.
Noir is a gorgeous scent for any age. Go for it!
I completely agree with every word of this. It really is awful. It makes the EDT a masterpiece in comparison.
I smelled the Bleu de Chanel soap yesterday. Oddly enough, it doesn't even smell like Bleu. It smells extremely lemony and "generic soapy". Much more like the Allure Homme Sport Cologne than Bleu.
Thanks for the information! I'm praying this is similar to the original fragrance.
Like water with some sugar thrown into it.
A complete waste of time and money.
I agree with you guys. It's really quite lovely.
"Amplified"? Seriously? To me, it smells like a watered-down version of the EDT. Much softer and less sharp, with low longevity and practically no sillage.
This is truly one of the most "blah" fragrances out there today and that's really saying something. The new Jimmy Choo men's fragrance is another example.
Oddly, Boots seem to have it first. That's the case here in Ireland, and we're the same as the UK in terms of those stores and fragrance launches.
Glad to know I'm not alone!
Smelled a tester in Dublin at the weekend. Extremely pleasant stuff. Sure, it's a little "mainstream", but has more than enough character and quality for me. I can't agree with the negative response...
Fantastic news. I am *praying* they haven't fiddled with the formula. It was beautiful. So elegant and refined.
I've always been a fan of the EDT, so was dying to try the EDP. Well, I for one am very disappointed. It's perfectly pleasant, but has practically no sillage whatsoever. It's incredibly soft and...
Exactly! It's all good!
I haven't said a word about anyone with differing opinions. I merely said I detested the Lush fragrances myself, as I'm perfectly entitled to do. Nowhere did I berate anyone else.
So, so true! I can't stand walking into those stores. So many competing aromas.
I have very little interest in most of those "mainstream" fragrances either, but most of the Lush ones are repellant to my nose. They're trying so hard to be "edgy" and different, they've forgotten...
Most of them smell completely unwearable to me. Interesting to smell, but to actually wear? Definitely not.
Any sign of this in the UK/Ireland yet?
Yes! Yes! Yes!
They are very similar to my nose.
I keep coming back to this one. It's fast becoming a favourite!
Uh...where did I say it was "unanimous"? I merely posted a link to a review which I completely agreed with. No need to get so touchy. Perhaps it hit a nerve, did it?
'Now Smell This' absolutely rips into this fragrance:
Couldn't have said it better...
It's not expensive? Well excuse me, but I find €60 to be reasonably expensive. Perhaps that's nothing to you, but it is to me and many others I can assure you.
My point is that it smells like an...
It smells like Just Cavalli for men. In other words, cheap and deodorant-like. It simply doesn't smell expensive at all.
I don't like this fragrance either. It smells harsh, medicinal and unpleasant. Like slate with a citrus fruit drizzled on it.
I tried it today and it is *extremely* similar to Dior Homme. How anyone could think otherwise is beyond me. It's at least 85% Dior Homme, with maybe a little more nuttiness, cocoa and less "powder"....
I'm staggered that some people think it smells nothing like the original L'Homme. To me, it's at least 70% the same as the original. It just has less ginger and less of that synthetic "metallic"...
I'm quite a fan of this. It's 70% the original, with some added sweetness, ambergris and boozy notes. Much more round, full-bodied and less metallic. I get excellent longevity from it. Much moreso...
I like the scent itself, but after the first 15 minutes, it seems to have extremely poor projection. Very much a skin scent. Lasts much longer on clothing.
If Richard James is reading this, I am *begging* you to please bring out this EDT again. I've been using the bottle I found recently and even though it has aged, it is still a gorgeous, elegant,...
I found two 100ml bottles of the EDT in a department store today. I couldn't believe it! They've clearly been sitting in the stockroom for years, as I visit that store every single week and have...
Exactly the same for me. I've never been a fan of any of the other Eau Sauvage versions, but I adore this one. It's mostly because of the myrrh for me also. It just seems so perfect for...
Absolutely. Less is more with this one! I'll be wearing this again this winter.
This is SO true. Things are now weighted so heavily against the seller, that it's almost inevitable that the buyer will be fully refunded. All they have to do is claim that they didn't receive the...
I think it's incredibly similar to Gucci Pour Homme. The longevity on clothing is through the roof! I sprayed some on the cuff of a jacket 3 weeks ago and it's still there now!
I would never want...
I don't like the original, but I'm not keen on this either. It's just alright.
I love Kiehl's Musk, but found it far too light and fleeting for me.
I love the scent, but always found the longevity and sillage to be quite poor.
Prada's men's fragrances are great. They are very identifiable, without ever smelling trashy, cloying or sweet, like many others out there. They're always classy. Luna Rossa smells a little on the...
Let's face it, 95% of fragrances simply don't last beyond an hour or so.
Guerlain Homme L'eau truly is beautiful scent...for all of the 15 minutes it lasts.
I'm afraid not! I'm in the same position as you and only know the ones you mentioned. Dublin really isn't a great city for the fragrance enthusiast, is it? *sigh*
Good longevity on skin/clothing, but not much projection after half an hour for me.
Ah ok, sorry! I just saw the Irish flag in your profile and thought maybe you had sampled it in Dublin. I'll check out Brown Thomas tomorrow anyway!
Is it available in Dublin now?
4711 is incredibly similar, but the longevity is very poor.
Spectacularly miserable longevity. The smell is *ok*, but no way would I ever pay money for this.
I'm not hugely fond of Blanche. Lemon washing-up liquid mixed with a cup of tea. Dodgy.
I like AHSE so much, that I find it hard to enjoy AHS anymore. The original now feels quite empty and lacklustre compared to the Extreme version. Also, not sure if it's just me, but the longevity on...
Absolutely. Now THAT'S an overrated scent in my opinion.
What a shame. It's a lovely scent.
I bought a new bottle in Debenhams a couple of months ago, to see how much it would go for on eBay. It went for €5 less than I paid for it.
I finally smelled this for the first time at the weekend, after years of reading about it on sites like this one.
Sorry to say that I really didn't like it all. I wouldn't dream of buying it.
Very well said. That's exactly how I feel about it too!
I tried this again yesterday. I think it's genuinely *disgusting*.
What a horribly pretentious, elitist attitude.
Hehe. Highly doubtful indeed!
I've never smelled this one. I can't to check out the stores in Dublin this week and finally smell it!

Oh come on. It's not as if it's suddenly going to turn into a Cool...
Tom Ford For Men
Green Irish Tweed
Bleu de Chanel
I tried this yesterday and found it rather pleasant. Yes, it's very "safe" and hardly groundbreaking, but I quite like that sweet vanilla/mint combination, and it lingers softly for hours....
The original cologne lasted for all of 15 minutes and was little more than a massively watered down DH. I never understood the love for it.
I tried it yesterday. Very, very similar to the original, but smells heavier, darker and dirtier. I detected more oud.
I always post stuff via postal machines/kiosks. On the "description of contents" label I put "GLASSWARE". Well it IS a glass bottle, isn't it? I just forget to mention what's inside it.
I found it very disappointing. Fairly weak, with very poor lasting power. It doesn't even smell that great.
Say what you like about it, but "generic"? Absolutely not.
Diptyque's 34 Boulevard Saint Germain has a rather nasty opening, but the drydown is beautiful.
I tried it last week. It smells like something you'd hang in the rim of a toilet bowl.
I still love this stuff. Gorgeous!
I really like it a lot and yet, somehow it still smells rather cheap to me. It's like a guilty pleasure, even though it's so high-priced. It smells shallow and empty, despite being so pleasant.
$1 million, for sure. Mostly on teenage boys.
Why not just use the Bleu de Chanel ancillary products? The shower gel is exceptionally good. It actually smells even better than the fragrance itself!
I've had a soft spot for Poivre Samarcande for years actually. I even owned a bottle for a while. I loved it, but never felt it was strong enough for me. Maybe 2-3 hours max and with minimal sillage....
Really? Those Hermessence fragrances last for about 15 minutes and aren't cheap either. Dreadful value for money.

Aventus is a beautiful scent, but oh so expensive...
I don't like Le Male at all, but at least it's unique and powerful. Le Beau Male is feeble and generic.
This is now available in Debenhams stores in UK and Ireland at the Dior counter. I tried it for the first time today and I loved it. I'm not a massive fan of Eau Sauvage, but unlike others, I...
Haha!!! I am *so* not elitist! I rarely ever buy niche fragrances to be honest! What I don't like though, are wishy washy fragrances that smell like dozens of others. That's what Le Beau Male is to...
Boots have this in stock now also. I tried it an hour ago. I hate to use the word again, but it really is incredibly generic stuff. It reminds me a lot of Boss Bottled. Perfectly pleasant, but...
I received a compliment for Prada Luna Rossa last week. He didn't refer to is specifically, but he smelled the air and said "Oh you always smell so good". I was wearing Luna Rossa at the time.
