Must be as on Fragrantica lots of people mention a reformulation (along with the bottle design change).
Still have the original (50ml bottle) but hardly use it though my gf loves the stuff:p
Sote: Fahrenheit Absolute
I got an older (''vintage'') 200ml splash version bottle of the edt (got to check the production year but I guess around >10 years old) which is indeed pretty different from current version.
Platinum Egoiste is also a fav of mine but way less similar to Eternity as Aqua Quorum is and mind that it is also 6x more expensive (as you said you wanted a cheap one).
If you want something cheap but very good (also regarding projection and longevity) and in the same range (smell wise) as Eternity you for sure must try Aqua Quorum! Blind buy worthy anyway for...
Vintage Versace The Dreamer
Prince Classic aftershave/edt (both are written on the bottle): but it is similar to the classic Aramis and not to TL.
It costs €3/100ml and is only available in Germany (Aldi supermarket) as far as...
- Pre morning shower aftershave and/or edt (often something fresh)
AdG (maybe also try the Essenza or Profumo version if you want a more interesting and stronger version of the original).
Sote: Encre Noire (another vetiver Chuck)
- Santal Noble
- Ambre Precieux
- Ferrari Essence Oud
- DH Parfum
Sotd: Kouros (vtg)
When they find out their mistake they will put the Gucci PH 1 tester back somewhere in a drawer where it will be forgotten again
Sote: Pal Zileri ''Cuoio''
Sotd: Gris Clair
Vetyver by Givenchy
L.T. Piver Vetiver
Also do a search on this to get hundreds of recommendations!
I also own the Extra Vieille 200ml vintage edc bottle as shown on Fragrantica and its soap and can only agree with you;)
- Knize Ten (30ml bottle)
- Monotheme Leather
- Pal Zileri Cuoio
- L'Essence de Cerruti
- Oscar de la Renta pour lui
- Van Cleef & Arpels pour homme
Other perfumes as suggested by me are only in ''same range'' (imo that is) but not smell wise, so actually they are not real comparisons. (fyi)
It is not barbershop to me as the lavender is missing...
Out of this list it's easy for me:
Knize Ten is the only masterpiece here (imo!).
Why? Because it is there for almost 100 years for a reason and because it really suits me, I love the smell and...
Sote: (Ribbed frosted bottle)
Interesting................but I think there are not many who own both the current versions of R&G L'Homme and Kouros.
Smellwise it is pretty unique but I would put it into the same range as scent like Santos de Cartier (vtg), Azzaro pour homme (vtg), Tsar (vtg) and Paco Rabanne ph (vtg). Mossy (aromatic) fougeres...
You can buy it here online for €166
It is a splash edt, so it must be easy to...
Vintage (brown glass bottle) is more woody-ambery with less synthetic ingredients to my nose while the current has overall more of the mint note, more citrus, a tad fresher smell and has a more...
Vermeil (but does it really has tobacco as no pyramid says so....?!)
Versace The Dreamer (vtg)
Dolce & Gabbana ph (vtg)
SMN Acqua di Cuba
Love both but prefer Boise!
Davidoff Leather Blend by far.
(is Habit Rouge a leather?)
Loudest to me:
2. A*men (vtg)
3. Lapidus ph
4. Joop! Homme (vtg)
All 24 hrs+
Kouros (vtg) is missing unfortunately...........it is a projection beast and lasts a loooooong...
- Kouros 5 wears
- Knize Ten 4 wears
- Van Cleef & Arpels ph 4 wears
- Dolce & Gabbana ph 3 wears
Sotd: My beloved:
Agree, it is great, smells green (grassy) fresh in a sublime way, is present all day without shouting and also one of the most versatile scents I own.
Sote: Love this!
When you indeed wore this in the mid-end 70's maybe so........:p
''Eau de Gloire'' by parfum d'Empire smells to me in a way like a lighter fresher version of Bel Ami.
This already has been done, see post #35!
(Blue smells better, Sauvage projects better and lasts longer on me)
Officially Etienne Aigner No.1 indeed but the older people know here what fragrance I am talking about..............Here a picture to make it clear!
- Declaration Cologne
- Revillon R
Sote: (sample) Prada Luna Rossa
I agree with this as it is uni-sex at least to my nose.
Wonderful stuff anyway!
Aigner No. 1 (vtg)
I am sure you won't regret it!:o
Sotd: Dior Homme Parfum
+1 I got two 125ml versions of the frosted ribbed bottle and I like the tobacco a lot in this one, which is reduced considerably in the 2010 reformulated ''Habit Rouge shaped'' bottle of Guerlain...
No clue but this document says ''next review 2013'' and this is based on October 2009 as you can see, looking forward to 2011, so it doesn't look to me that recent.
Maybe someone with more knowledge...
This looks old (2011)............next review date it says 2013. Must be an old document or I am overlooking something.
If you also google you see pure natural oakmoss has been completely restricted...
Sotd: For me a splendid (imo) cheapie today:
Favs for this winter: (probably also most worn)
- Knize Ten
- Van Cleef & Arpels pour homme
Sote: First formulation of:
Still smells ''like new'';)
Anyone smelled this already and can share his opinion about it?
To make the trilogy with Essenza and Profumo complete:
Profumo is still my fav,...
Ferrari Essence Oud fits the bill on all aspects and is excellent imo!
I agree! I owned a 90's bottle but imo it was way too sweet and I also prefer the current version (5 year old bottle that is) which also lasts longer.
To me this has become more of a different scent than a real reformulation (2012 has way more iris and hardly any ginger).
Imo the 2008 was way better but again: apples and pears.
Sotd: Long time no wear: (vintage)
I agree but it is also very citrussy, especially in the opening which the OP didn't want.
Yes, what were you referring to then by saying 2007-2008?
They now (as of 2015) can use oakmoss absolute or whatever they call the synthetic form but it is not quite as good as the real deal; not by...
The complete ban started early 2015 and as of 2012 (I believe) it was reduced to 1%
Before that the restriction was also there of course but not like 1% max. or completely forbidden.
You simply cannot expect it to be any way near the original vintage which had true civet, true oakmoss, better honey and musks etc.
I agree that the 2005 (I also do own a 2006 bottle) is also...
I own the original vintage edt in the brown glass bottle which smells way better than last 3 (or even 4?!) reformulations of the edt.
Stuff is pretty strong and lasts easily 8+ hrs with good...
Thanks for sharing, sounds quite original and nice!
Is it sweet? Woody? Are there any other fragrances in the same range? (maybe Pure Havane or Bogart pour homme?)
Can you tell a bit more plz about this fragrance?
Sote: Vintage edp
This wowed me again after being stuck in a box where I couldn't see it for 1.5 years.
Wearing it as Sotd and reminds me how much I love(d) this scent and will definitely wear it more often coming...
Don't worry, AdG has been reformulated big time! It once used to be almost a strong as the Essenza is now, compared to being pretty weak nowadays..
Here Aqua Fahrenheit is still easy to get online and in stores for normal retail prices but I already stocked up with a 125ml back up bottle 2 years ago to be sure:o
Sung Homme has it also a little imo.
These for me also!
Yes, as of 2008, they changed it into some kinf of fresh mandarin soapy kind of fragrance, pretty different compared to the brown cap ones.
Yes, if you first read some reviews you can also easily see that many say it has. I own both versions and the difference is huuuuge, especially in longevity and nutmeg smell.
This one is not that good.........it is synthetic, sharp, very soapy and smells cheap compared to the vintage which is the one to get imo: (brown cap): The tobacco-leather-oakmoss combo in the new...
I knew this could not be any better than the excellent Aqua Fahrenheit.
I think they're done with those Fahrenheit flankers by now......
Will give it a try but not very hopeful anymore..........as...
