I know I tried the ELDO years ago when I was testing for a tobacco scent, I'll have to try again. Cheers.

Hi Cacio, I have Le Troisieme Homme and well..... lets just say it's a little too pretty for me, maybe that's why I enjoy the Boss so much, is there any thing wrong with a smooth modern masculine?....
I'll be having a go at this, thanks Jack
Hi every one, I recently picked up a bottle of this at less than half of retail, and am blown away by it. Floral and indolic for men are generally not my thing, but he honey and vanilla combo work...
Top notes: Sparkling Bergamot, Aldehydic Note, Saffron Powder, & Clove.
Mid notes: Rose & Jasmine, Leaves of Geranium & Patchouly Ambery notes.
Base notes: Leather,...
I've owned both and given them both away, if I had to choose it would be Cuir Beluga. They are both too femme for me, but I found CB to be more.........pleasant.
We still have very strict regulations about sending perfumes by airmail within Australia let alone posting overseas, you may find someone, goodluck.
While I'm deeply in the camp that is horrified by MKK, I've tried maybe six times in the hope that I'd get what everyone else is raving about, and the most I've been able to stand it for is two...
Wild Fern Geo. F Trumper.

The scent of the clueless man that wants power, Joop! Homme Joop!
The scent of the man at peace with his power, either Antico Caruso or Santal Noble.
The scent of the man a little unsure of his...
While there are many scents I won't be buying again the biggest disappointment would be Villoresi's Sandalo, if I enjoyed Rosewood it would be great but I enjoy Sandalwood and in Sandalo the Rosewood...
Terre de Hermes, just seemed pointless.
Bulgari Black, completely unwearable.
Everything I've tried from Annik Goutal, they smell like dead people.
Everything I've tried from Czech & Speake
not mentioned yet.
Larrikin by Mt Romance, Australian Sandalwood and Eucalyptus.
Imperial Santal by Martine Micallef: Bergamot, Pamplemousse; Patchouli, Vetiver, Santal; Musc, Mousse, Fir balsam.
Santal Imperial and Royal Amber by M. Micallef
Wazamba by PdE
NewYork by Nicolai
Itasca by Lubin
and Antico Caruso by Profumum.
the big yearly spend up!
I was buying perfume for my sister for Xmas and was looking for something other than Chanel No.5 but had no idea what I was looking for just needed some ideas and found a great deal more :)
I've recently purchased L'Ombre Fauve, Omnia's Ambra and Ambre Precieux, but Amber 114, Fiore d'Ambra, Blue Amber and Alambar by Laboratorio Olfattivo are all bottle worthy as is Ambre Narguille...
Eros by Herr von Eden
I have also tried La Reine Margot and I too got it from Les Senteurs.
On me it's a big jasmine scent for the first couple of hours, the white florals make a show and then it's about the Jasmine...
Stuff it just by her a bottle of Musc Ravageur, she won't understand it but it will grow on her and she'll thank you forever.
Thanks and cograts Mims, I don't kmow where you find the time or the patience
It's all appreciated!
5:1 and I'm being conservative!
Gross by name and nature?
Difficult but Lauder for Men and a lightly used Tabac Aurea by Sonoma if you want a sweet tabacco.
My personal favorite is Fumery Turque but if Kors is too strong maybe something like Divin'Enfant...
I hope you remember, but I won't hold my breath :).
Go, you good thing!
The only one I can recommend without reservations is Jubilation 25 or XXV, though the Oil Attars get great reviews.
Mind you my nose is neither the most sophisticated nor is it well trained....
The Musc Ravageur with no reservations.
Santal Noble vintage and after taking postage into account, cheaper than I could buy the new version.
What Off-Scenter said.
I've absolutely fallen for Esprit de Cuir, mind you it took me some time.
My first try it smelled exactly like wet horse blankets, for a while I tested it on people as a joke, then having tried it...
If it helps I often find that sampling just means you don't buy anything, often what I really need is 20ml and to wear a scent off and on for more than a month. Some times you just have to bite the...
Many thanks Primrose, how could I have forgotten about The Perfumed Court?
I've tried the major Chanel and Guerlain Boutiques and even if the do have the required scent, they have to be purchased...
I've tried Cuir Pleine Fleur and it's nice but not nice enough my tastes run to Cuir Ottoman and Auguste's Esprit de Cuir.
Arsene Lupin Dandy is on my radar but i haven't been able to find it...
Love the scent but I have few places to wear it.
I've got "The Guide", and I don't agree with it on a lot of things, but then I don't like chocolate ice cream either.
When I came to scent a little over two years ago I knew absolutely nothing and...
Like teger I've purchased L'Ombre Fauve along with Mazzolari Lui and Eros by Herr von Eden, winter is on its way;)
Wotcher all, I'll be making an order at First In Fragrance in about a week, and looking through the site there's an unknown to me; Eros by Herr von Eden.
Ok it's on sale and while I try to sample as...
Then there's the percieved value of what we've purchased.
I've got a few that rarely get used some because I only like them under certain circumstances, Yatagan, Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme,...
Thats an incredible price, pity it's not a scent for me!
While I love both, I find NY a little brighter though in the same breath HR would be the only scent I own that I would feel totally comfortable wearing to a funeral. I know it sounds odd but HR just...
I've sampled it and like it though not well enough to buy it, for some strange reason fruity feminines aren't my usual style.
My sample came from Les Senteurs, First In Fragrance used to have it but...
Santal Noble for the lot, can't speak for Dhofar and Memoir Man, avoid Knize Ten, a great scent but unless you know the people well can be a put off, Sequioa can remind Americans too...
Fury is a Scent by Mt. Romance using the oil of the the grass tree plant, and I'd love to review, but I can't.
Oh I've purchased a bottle and I like it well enough. It starts off a little thin...
Christmas shopping at Lucky Scent.
Francis Kurkdjian; Absolue pour le Soir, Absolue pour le Matin, APOM Poue Femme.
L'Artisan; L'eau du Navigateur.
Parfum d'Empire; Cuir Ottoman.
And only two of...
Jaime, it's been a complete and exhaustive education; did you have an end time for the longevity?
Lot's of great scent have been suggested and many of them I would concur, more to choose from, L'Homme Sage by Divine, MPG's Santal Noble and Francis Kurkdjian's APOM Homme.
CB I Hate Perfume's Black March or Czech and Speake's No.88.
Not my area but but tea scents I have appreciated, Bulgari, The Blanc, The Rouge and PDN Fig Tea, I've yet to try a tea with great longevity. Didn't like Tea for Two, nor Bulgari Black, or The Vert.
I've got empathy for the problem, at the moment the best I can do is run to a few that are in constant rotation and then the rest become scents for special occasions or just for the hell of it.
I'm another that found Creed as a gateway to niche houses but TPC was just as much a revelation.
It's easy to say that I've moved on to better things, my tastes have evolved, the things I found...
I don't hate MKK, the fecal note last for hours on me and sure it fades but I can smell it even if others can't and being aware of it ruins the whole thing.
I've tried Musc Ravageur and while it's...
God, a multi faceted diamond, a kaleidoscope of all the most besutiful scents you can think of and every time you change your perspective a different scent rises.
Heaven would have to be a green...
I can't comment about your prefered scents, as an alternative I can recommend L'eau de Navagateur by L'Artisan Parfumeur. Look it up at Lucky Scent.
For me No.5 is one of those perfumes that drive poeple away from perfume, not because it isn't a great scent but in my very humble opinion it's marketed as something that it isn't. It really doesn't...
Yatagan, I love this stuff but if I wear it more than once every three months, depression sets in and I have no idea why.
Another that is a great but I can't stand on anyone Chanel No.5, I drove...
I cant help but wonder how much the SA is getting paid to be an "expert guide" to young men buying scent?
How about Chene by SL
If he's at the top of the ladder; he can wear any damn thing he wants and every one will kiss his arse anyway.
Looking at my wardrobe it would suggest about one in five but the true ratio is much wider as many were bought blind or were gifts, so of the ones I've sampled I've gone on to buy one in thirty....
I'll stick my neck out.....Larrikin by Mt. Romance, a lovely sandalwood direct from the grower with better longevity than my review, yeah I'm Australian and there isn't much perfume much made in Oz,...
Thanks for the reply rickb.
On ye olde mother Mon Parfum has a 24 hr span, she insists its a factor of age. Certainly on her skin everything smells slightly different and sometimes very different. ...
after much sampling I recently bought Mon Parfum for ye olde mother.
I'd be interested in other womens views on the scent, ye olde mother is 70 but loves this one and I can't say that...
From Lucky Scent
L'Eau du Navigateur, 100ml.
Fig Tea, 30ml.
Now the long and excruciating wait.....how long till WonderWood is in stock.....how long until the...
I like the scent; the review itself though was terrible, construction, clarity, use of the English language etc .....oh dear!
Many thanks I'd love to know what you think.
Try Parfums de Nicolai, I've found I need to live with a scent and PdN offers 30ml bottles that keep the price down, a nice range too. Available at Lucky Scent.
First in Fragrance (Auz Liebe zum Duft). They're German, slow and the site and payment can be tiresome but I've found them to be generous with samples, reliable and have the product.
For birch tar Knize Ten and Chanel's Cuir de Russie.
For others Cuir Ottoman, my favorite and to me the best of all, Esprit de Cuir by Auguste. I've just got to save for a bottle.
I'll just reply to this to keep it up on the board.
I can recommend Mon Parfum.
Does anyone know what Fury by Mt. Romance smells like?
It seems that Mt Romance have stopped selling their feminines but have kept Larrikin and added Fury to their masculine line and I have...
Sonoma Scent Studio's Tabac Aurea leaves a trail that is divine, as opposed to having huge sillage.
Auguste's Esprit de Cuir is another that trails.
Mon Parfum by Martine Micallef
Another vote for Wazamba.
Esprit de Cuir by Auguste
L'eau du Navigateur by L'Artisan
L'homme Sage by Divine
now all I need is the money :undecided:
I read somewhere in the Australian Press a review on peoples spending habits when times were tough. As money gets more limited people still spend but they spend on small things that will give them...
I put myself down as #2, while it could easily haver bee #1 or even #3.
In my time here, I've found that not only am I very limited, (and I knew that before I started), but that there are many...
Ordered three days ago, waiting to be shipped.
Mon Parfum - M.Micallef
Ambra Nera - Farmacia SS. Annunziata dal 1561, a blind buy, I can only hope it's as good as they say.
L'eau du Navigateur -...
I got my new formula from First in Fragrance about 2 months ago. Yes it has lost the coffee, it does smell more of coconut in the tops notes, so thats a loss but like Ron199 I prefer the dry down. It...
While I second Ambre Russe, have a look at Fougere Bengale, the problem that I have is finding them in 50ml bottles to keep the price down. PdN with 30ml bottles is great but if he likes a bit of...
I'm sorry if I have offended you. I was talking in general about the cheaper designer scents. There will always be stand out scent of any genre as there will be ghastly interpretations.
I think there's more to the question.
The more experienced noses on the boards have hundreds and thousands of scents that they can reference, any scent they sample has to be compared with...
I'd call it Poeticus, I'd pick peoms that could provide the basis for a scent and while I can hear all the sniggering. The Boy Stood on the Burning Deck........or
There was a young man from Leeds...
As I don't have Pyxis I'll have to go with Ankh, also by Scents of Time.
Alea jacta est.
1. In my current circumstances purchasing niche is more practical simply for the access (internet) to samples. I will not buy blind.
2. The market being flooded by designer aquatics and...

Hello Primrose, without doubt it's a gorgeous thing, I can't decide whether it's masculine or feminine, though I prefer it on a women....it smells like one hell of a party! I can well imagine it as...
At the finish post it's Ambre Rousse by half a length to Fougere Bengale, with Cuir Ottoman a head further back!
The reest of the field has trailed badly with 3 Fleurs stone motherless last.
Just going from memory, the reviews for Bal a Versaille seemed to have the greatest variation. A great scent that women of all ages get something different from.
And there off, in the Parfum d'Empire stakes.
Fougere Bengale has started well, followed by Cuir Ottoman a length back!
With the filly Aziyade, the colt Wazamba and the old war horse Eau de...
Add my name to this path, MdM took me over a year to get the hang of.
When was basenotes about rational and intelligent ideas? Surely some one this sane and reasonable shouldn't be allowed to comment? Where would the perfume industry be if we only bought those things...
Maybe we're looking at this the wrong way around.
Marketing and Accessability.
In Australia, a Mercedes is a luxury car, in Germany they are used as taxi's. In Oz a large rear drive six cylinder...
From my point of view it's the opposite, I grew up in a world where the fruity, floral, aquatic ruled. The designer scents in their minuscule variation and market saturation...... a business man...
Try Amaranthine by Penhaligons and Wild Fern by Trumper, hard to tell if we don't know what you're into.
I have no idea why but I seem to have problems with european etailers and one canadian, none of them have reached your levels, but enough to make me think twice about using them, but then they are...
Hey up Dullah,
your search is one after my own heart and I'm horribly interested in the outcome, after some searching I settled with Fumerie Turque, maybe I should have tried harder ;). Of the ones...
