Amouage Epic Man. Wow, absolutely love this.
Why do so many of the ones I'm liking the most of late seem to be so expensive!
In, roughly, this order
TF For Men (would be higher if it performed better on my skin)
My favourites, from a house I love, in order.
CDG 2 Man (wearable incense with citrus)
Avignon (very very churchy – not a blind buy unless you love incense)
Wonderoud (very similar to Wonderwood...
Saw this in John Lewis in Newcastle yesterday, annoyingly though they had no tester so I’m still none the wiser as to how it smells, but it is out there and available in store if anyone is...
Tried it again yesterday, still don’t get incense, and it still is incredibly weak, both in projection and longevity. Guess it just doesn’t work on my skin at all.
Very much this. Even if the EDT were half the price of the EDP (which it isn’t) I’d still buy the EDP.
Worth sampling the EDT, as on some people I’m sure performance will differ, but side by side,...
SOTD was MFK Pluriel Masculin
SOTE is Frapin Caravelle Epicee (thanks for the sample emoe)
Did a side by side a while ago they smelled almost identical to me but the edt was far far weaker. EDP all the way for me.
Ditto. Really shone in the heat today, well, as warm as NE England gets anyway. Considering a full bottle and it's moved right up my hitlist as this is the time of year for it.
SOTE is Sahara Noir
My SOTD. Really enjoying it. Quite warm here today and it really is much better in warm weather. Used the last of my sample and really tempted to get a full bottle.
SOTD was TF Oud Wood
SOTE is TF Amber Absolute
Seems a few people in another TF thread seem to think this is going to happen. Can’t wait myself, just hope it smells like the original.
Apologies if this doesn't deserve a new thread, just...
I love D&G the One, but it’s performance is abysmal on me. Also love Spicebomb, I like Fahrenheit, wore Le Male a lot years ago but never felt the need to replace it in recent years.
Not voting, tried it once, ages ago, and just thought “Cool Water”. My nose has developed a bit since then, and there’s lots of things I now love that I’d hated when sampled years ago, so it’s on my...
Tried Egoiste a few times and quite like it, but not enough to buy a bottle just yet. I do however love Spicebomb.
Honestly don’t care in the slightest about the alleged quality of ingredients,...
From my limited experience, and in this order
TF Oud Wood
Armani Oud Royal
M7 Oud Absolu
Creed Royal Oud – though whether it smells much of Oud is debatable.
Lomani Intense Black – A dead...
Olfactive Studio – Lumiere Blanche from a sample. Quite nice, but wouldn’t be buying a full bottle.
Tried a few of theirs now and Chambre Noire is head and shoulders the best, both in terms of...
I’m in the minority here but I like L’Homme Intense. Not enough to buy it yet, but one day I’ll see it at a bargain price and get it.
I quite liked La Nuit, but never got round to buying it, so I’ll give this a sniff.
Sunderland v. Newcastle is the most heated rivalry though.
And surely Americans should have a soft spot for a team in red and white stripes. And don’t say Southampton!
I very rarely buy blind, and when I do it’s never going to break the bank. I got a couple of Penhaligons for less than £20 each a few months ago, off the top of my head they’re my most expensive...
Terre d’Hermes edt
Congratulations on the fragrances, two good ones there, I love TF Noir. I got Michael Kors for Men off my daughter, which I had tried a few weeks ago when she was with me and we both liked it.
Strange. I've seen that comment a couple of times now but it's an absolute beast on me and I often have projection and longevity issues with things others find strong
SOTD was Michael Kors for Men
SOTE is MFK Absolue pour le Soir
Loved the opening, sadly my experience was similar to yours (though on the plus side my experience was from a couple of samples rather than buying it) , though I could still be tempted if it was a...
Didn't buy it as such, Fathers Day present from my daughter
Incense - Avignon, Bois D'encens, CDG 2 Man
Vetiver - Grey Vetiver
Patchouli - Coromandel
Tobacco - Pure Havane
TF Amber Absolute
I wore a sample of CdG Blue Encens on a night out with my friends a few years ago. We wear in a bar and one of them said “It stinks in here, smells like a church”. I said nothing and didn’t buy a...
Imagine the batch variations if it were Imperial Mornington Crescent.
Tom Ford For Men
Give them all away. You still have my address don't you?
Samples arrived BTW, thanks very much. Loving Idole de Lubin
After wearing Bottega Veneta Pour Homme yesterday I’m wearing the Extreme today. It’s also nice, but I prefer the original, both in smell, and strangely, in strength. Seems, on me, weaker than the...
I’ll go against the grain and go for the edp. Smoother and richer, better projection and longevity on me. I’d expected this to be around 50/50 or maybe 60/40 the edt, so the current score of 7/2...
TDH of those, although I havent tried the Bond.
For some reason however I seem to have voted for Voyage, but it's not even close so I doubt it'll make any difference to the outcome!
From a sample. Really like it, got a sample of the Extreme as well, so I'll give that a go as well, then may well get one of them soon.
Yep. Seen some great deals on the sales threads but almost always CONUS only. Just recently bought my first thing on here after being a member for quite a while now.
Cheap clones, there’s a shop I know a few miles from me that stocks them. SA was outside offering sprays when I passed a while ago so curiosity got the better of me and I let her try one on me. Cant...
Tried it twice on my skin now and found it incredibly weak. May have been olfactory fatigue from sampling lots of things those days so I will give it another chance, but I'm in no hurry.
Own and love both. I just wish TFFM wasn't so weak. GV EDP is the one to go for. The edt was very weak on me.
Much as I love this one I couldn't imagine wearing it very often in summer in Northern England, never somewhere like Texas.
I get very few but this week I've had two at work
Prada Luna Rossa
The D&G was from a sample and I'm tempted to get a bottle if I see it at the right price as it seems pretty...
TDH but be careful not to overspray. I'm usually a big sprayer but find this one can be cloying if overdone. Get it right and it's head and shoulders above the other 3.
From a sample
Something incense. Avignon or Bois D'encens for me.
I love it, far and away my favourite of the Pure series. Every time I see it for sale I think about selling my Pure Malt and replacing it with PH.
I would hope so, the Metro Centre one had the Collection ones in last time I was there so may well carry this. Let us know if it's there.
I tried the whole collection not long ago and can’t recall what that one was like. I do however remember the Amber one being very nice.
For those in the UK it’s in stock at House of Fraser (online anyway), £76 for 100ml.
I’d like to try it, though not enough to blind buy it.
I liked it after giving it a go so got a sample to give it a proper wearing, but my wife and daughter thought it was disgusting, old ladies wee was their comment.
They said the same about CDG 2...
I’ll take those if that’s ok, been wanting to try the Lubin for a while.
Gives me a kick up the bum to put my spare samples on here as well.
Where did you see the testers? Good prices those.
Dior Homme Eau For Men
Glad to see this is getting more love on here. I love it and it’s a mainstay of my wardrobe, versatile, great for any time of the year, ideal for work but also more formal occasions.
Allure Homme Sport.
I assume you're in the UK, keep an eye out for 20% off at The Fragrance Shop, it's a regular thing, then grab a 50ml bottle of AHS for under £40.
Tried a lot yesterday
First off my SOTD (from a sample) was Olfactive Studio – Autoportrait. Hard to pass judgement on what it smelled like as it was so weak. Got a few whiffs as I was applying it...
Just be careful if the OP does happen to be in Barcelona, things can get a little tasty, even when they win
Hated For Him at first, couldn’t get my head around how anyone would want to smell like that. Now, a couple of years down the line and having sampled hundreds more fragrances, I absolutely love it. ...
Bottega Veneta edt. From a sample. Second time I've worn this and I really like it.
Could even be FBW.
YSL L'homme Libre
Tried a few of them in Harrods not too long ago and nothing stood out above any of the many others I sampled that day. I'm no expert though I can't spot quality ingredients, I simply like what I...
My SOTE is Jovoy Ambre Premier. Amber, vanilla, rose and allegedly patchouli later in though I'm not getting any yet.
SOTD was Penhaligon's Endymion
SOTE is Jovoy Ambre Premiere, from a sample, a bit floral for my tastes - not sure I could give this a full wearing
Just to be different, Wonderoud.
Batch of samples arrived today - first impressions -
Jovoy - Psychedelique - Sweet patchouli, looking forward to giving it a full wearing, weekend scent though, can't see me wearing this in the...
If I'm going down the incense route I tend to prefer the pure incense ones, Avignon, Montale Full Incense and Armani Bois D'encens are my favourites. La Liturgie Des Heures is another option.
Another for this
My skin soaks a lot of things up so I'm an avowed oversprayer, I'll probably use the rest of the 1ml sample when I give it a proper wearing as it really was just a light 2 sprays to each wrist...
Not to me. I have a decant of TL, recently tried the ADP, and own a FB of Monotheme Leather.
Monothemes Leather is closer to TL than the ADP, and is a fraction of the price.
Of the three I...
Tam Dao edp.
Nice, but seems very fleeting. I'll give it a full wearing before I make my mind up completely. It was only a small spray of the sample but it didn't last long and seemed to have...
It’s very nice but sadly on me it’s gone not long after I put it on.
Pluriel is pretty much at the top of my “To buy” list. Hopefully get a bottle quite soon.
Never tried Invasion Barbare.
I’ll throw my hat in the ring with Grey Vetiver.
Wouldn't mind trying it, but as I don't generally like rose fragrances I'm in no hurry.
What a pile of steaming. patronising, hypocritical drivel.
Oliban was my SOTD. Nice woody incense, linear but I don't mind that. Decent projection and very good longevity on me. It's on my list of possible purchases, but it's not something I'm rushing out to...
Almost identical houses to my last 8 samples, just different fragrances. Although I didn't spot Chambre Noire when i read your post first time. I got that as well and absolutely love it.
Bloom Perfumery? Similar houses to the last batch of samples I got from there.
Embers is the only one we overlap on. I wasnt keen, very very smoky.
Phaedon – Oliban.
From a sample, quite like it, not sure if I’d get a full bottle, but may sample again.
I don’t think anyone feels violated, it’s just that I sense a lot of people think you’re wrong and you either don’t like that or are revelling in it.
I wonder if your God has a view on internet...
It is. I own Silver and compared it to a sample of SMW and there was little difference. Silver seemed to have better longevity though it was hard to tell as it's difficult to compare when one is a...
Bond No 9 Harrods Agarwood - opened up like Kokorico on paper, nothing like it on my skin. In a better way.
Miller Harris La Fumee - nice spicy incense on paper, citrussy spice then BO on my skin....
I don’t really get where you’re coming from with this. I don’t wear anything “with pride”, I wear stuff because I like the smell of it. The comparison with second hand clothes is just bizarre.
Cant get much more different than those two. I find both easy to wear and Spicebomb has always been a compliment getter for me rather than something I see as difficult to wear.
I own both, but...
I found Harrods friendly enough when I was in, tried a couple of CC’s amongst lots of other things that day. None of the CC ones stood out to me though.
After trying this on a card in Harrods and not being impressed I recently bought a sample. Wow, totally different on my skin to a card. Nothing like Kokorico at all. A rich deep smell. Gorgeous, but...
As I know you’re in the UK, Scentsamples has L, so that’s one off your list. I’m sure they used to have more, but they updated their lineup fairly recently.
I’ve used them quite a bit and found...
Lomani Intense Black is around 1/20 of the price of Creed Royal Oud, and I could barely tell the difference. And that’s doing a side by side test, with RO on the back of one hand...
