Gianfranco Ferré for Man
Thanks Guys! I'm on the way to buy. I hope I like it!
Found a place selling it for a real bargain, but info about it is really scarce... Has anybody ever tried it?
Don't own it, but I like it too! (waiting for discount!)
French Line Revillon
Thanks, hednic! As always, you're basenotes encyclopedia!
And yes, some ebay sellers ask ridiculous price!
Ressurecting this thread... This fragrance is still a mistery... Just one review on the directory (bashing it) but the price asked for it on ebay is outrageous, what seems contraditory although its...
These lame names really annoy me. What's next? An animalic flanker as "Playing with baboons in Kilimanjaro"?
- Capucci pour homme
- YSL pour homme
Ouch!!! Don't know if It was your intention, but the link's review really scared me...
Yeah, I think the one I saw is the reformulated version, similar to the one in hednic's post, because It's written "Men" instead of "pour homme" and the box and bottle are slightly different as shown...
These two fragrances can be found really cheap online but are hardly talked about in the foruns... Basenotes has only a single review about Morris and Hascich men isn't even listed on the...
Thanks Guys! I'm not affraid of vintage stuff, although It's always risk buying them blind (Giorgio, for instance, is my example of failure).
I'm gonna take Sybaris to see what It can do for me.
My Maxim's pour homme has just been delivered today (swapped with a Giorgio Beverly Hills bottle). Nice fragrance! A well blended sweet floral, not agressive at all, subtle and old...
Maxim's pour homme
I don't like to buy vintage splash bottles, but I'm at the point of no return: just can't find a spray one, so I'm almost pulling the trigger to buy my first. That makes me think how...
David, the last package was delivered in october or november, I don't remember for sure, but I can assure you they are never declared as perfume. It's always cosmetic.
All the european ebay sellers...
Interesting David... I've been buying from french ebay sellers and none of them ship through french post airmail registered letter... They all use colissimo... I thought It was the only way to ship...
No, I haven't, hednic. I'm affraid of being disappointed again...Although I like the green side of the fougeres... By the way, Is it a fougere?
I really don't care about Creed although I tried just a few fragrances from its large collection. Unfortunately, the more hype I read about a Creed's frag, the more disappointed I am at the end of...
My tester bottle is similar to this one:
Was the bottle from that period or older? Based on what I've read, It had already been reformulated back then.
By the way, the tester I bought seems to have been produced in 2009.
martinijo, what do you mean with original formulation? Reading your description It seems you were used to the "La collection" smell and now is having trouble with the sharp, a bit sour and earthy...
Recently I bought a tester bottle of this well known classic and... I'm disappointed. I had in mind that although It was the red cap bottle, It had been reformulated. But I never...
YSL pour homme
Tried both and didn't care about them. Both seemed bland, uninspiring and not worthy the tradition of this brand. I remember Red being a dilluted version of dunhill Desire.
Good projection on me too. Its smell is really not natural, sharp, adstringent and refreshing. I like it, although I remember my first bottle being sharper/spicier (and better) than the one I got...
Arrogance pour homme (again)
People forgot to mention:
- Basile Uomo (all sort of green notes including herbal green basil)
- Lomani pour homme (extremely cheap and truly an 80s green fougere)
- Davidoff Good life (if you...
Arrogance pour homme
Capucci pour homme
Chopard Noble Vetiver
Thanks mumsy, I've just got a mini after shave splash bottle of lancetti Uomo and although I had never tested it, It was pretty potent and made me gag (unfortunately It was fresh for about 10 seconds...
Great article, Renato! very helpful!
I've been looking for a vintage fragrance, but can only find its after shave version in splash bottles... Would it be reasonable to wear it as if It were cologne? I mean, shots in the...
My U3's bottle also says "made in Italy"...
Lomani pour homme
I had noticed it with my bottles of Ungaro II: both are made in France, but only the 100ml one has the golden top/bottom. In fact, the 30ml bottle doesn't even have any golden part.
Cerruti Fair Play
Hi Morrison, I've just purchased a bottle of ungaro III, but although the box seems the same as shown in your picture, the bottle only have the top (near cap) golden stripe. The bottom is glass......
Marina de Bourbon Prince Blanc, perhaps?
Bought a mini on ebay, so I don't know if It's vintage or not, but I'm in shock... Didn't anybody notice the strong dated chypre-like smell of this one? It's definitely for older guys! Or maybe my...
That sums it up!
But I have to emphasize Bogart and Ted lapidus line of fragrances!
Azzaro pour homme INTENSE
Tristano by Onofri
Well, is there a big difference between Azzaro and its intense version? Is It just about the lack of lavender?
Lacoste pour homme
Got a mini of Balenciaga pour homme today and man, the top notes are a nostril assault! I admit It demands acquired taste. Really. I've never smelt something like that. Odd creamy/milky notes , a bit...
I'd also recommend:
Lacoste (original) - Green and white box/bottle
Is Aventus a waste of money? Yes, indeed.
And although I don't think they're that similar, I see the connection with Bvlgari pour homme extreme. and also with ... Cool water.
The danger appears...
Lacoste Style in play
L'eau d'issey Miyake
Due to the lack of diversity in the recent launches, I tend to look up some vintage on ebay, as Bigsly said, pre 1994. But I don't buy them unless they're at max, the same price as a full price...
Azzaro pour homme
we don't need a thread! So, what's your religion?
Pasha Menthe Fraiche for a minty-patchouly smell.
If you want barbershop mint, try Rive Gauche Light (Rive Gauche + mint).
I'd also recommend lacoste Booster. It's all about mint.
Although technically there isn't "winter" here (and we're almost in summer -> that's as hot as hell), my top six are:
1. MPG Ambre Precieux
2. YSL M7
4. Gucci pour homme II
- Giorgio (Beverly Hills)
- Dirty English for Men
- Hermes Bel Ami
- Messe de Minuit
- Versace Blue Jeans
What about the intense version? Even better than the real thing?
456 as you described it, doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for. Its release time (early 2000s) is an "aquatic alert" for me.
Cuvee is the one to seek.
I like it and so does my wife.
But I had the same reaction you did when I tested out Giorgio (Beverly Hills).
Davidoff Good Life
Thanks mdclx! But how would you describe them? Smell like the 80s powerhouses? 90s?
Both fougeres, chypres, aquatics?
I don't really care about Ferrari fragrance's line, own Red, think It's nice but quite normal, nothing to write home about. Thought Red was this brand's first fragrance, but while...
It depends... what's your Aventus' batch number?!
Santos eau de Sport
Gianfranco Ferre for Man
Acqua di Selva
Boucheron pour homme
Forget about "Cool water is a poor man's GIT". I don't even think they are close scents. Cool water is more in your face, more "80s". And I prefer It.
GIT is smoother, bland. I still can't...
Trussardi Uomo and Gianfranco Ferre for man (try to be sure you're getting the vintage ones)
In fact, under high humidity and temperature, unless you're wearing something like A*Men, nobody will even notice you're wearing something. But if the cloth absorbs the juice, then It will last a lot.
Eau de Rochas
Right, right now:
1. Santos eau de Sport
2. Gianfranco Ferre for Man
3. Trussardi Uomo
4. Aramis Tuscany
5. Ungaro II
Honorable mention: Caesars Man & RL Safari
This thread reminded an old joke about a guy that went to the doctor because of his misteryous intestin problem: although he felt like farthing he couldn't hear anything.
One week after some...
Ouch!! Tried the original last week and what a generic scent It is... Generic citrus, a bit sour, similar to... Azzaro Chrome Legend... Really boring. If It wasn't Prada symbol and a nice bottle,...
Exactly what I thought when I first tried Erolfa. And yes, It was my first Creed experience.
Tried later, GIT, Silver Mountain Water and Aventus... None of them impressed me at all. Considering the...
Men's Club 52
212 is the winner for me, although I think It's just a nice refreshing green fragrance that wouldn't be noticed if there wasn't the combination of incense and ginger notes with the green accord.
Got a sample to confirm my assumptions: a so-so fragrance, extremely OVERRATED (and as always, pricey). If the same formula had been launched by any designer name, It wouldn't even have been noticed.
If you like aquatics, try Halston Unbound: same Acqua di Gio vibe, truly refreshing. I really like its tomato leaf note.
Actually, It's a mix of Acqua di Gio and a less harsh Lacoste essential....
