Re: Like Gendarme Green but better.

Creed's Vetiver is green but very different from Gendarme.
Gendarme smells less expensive but better and garners way more compliments.

Re: Wear what she likes or what you like?

There's a good chance that if she liked you, she would have complimented any number of frags.
If a fragrance is well made and appropriate to the occasion and season it has a good chance of being...

    Re: Lavender

    Thanks for all the suggestions!
I own 1725 and Musc Ravageur....have smelled Gris Clair and Invasion Barbare, and a Taste of Heaven. None of these are really close to what I get out of Lavanda.
    Le...

    Lavender

This is confusing note for me.
I have associated it with Women in stories, books, and legends, but it is used more often in Male frags than Female.
That being said, I recently tried Acqua di Parma...
  5. Re: Mazzolari Lui- Breakthrough scent, gift for spouse

You do have to like patchouli to like Lui.
But even if you like it a little, you might enjoy this......it is really well made.
My wife refers to it as my Rich Hippie scent. (But she says this with...

    Re: Mont Blanc Individuel

Best thing about MBI is the cap.
I have never smelled OS but own 6 Creeds.
Hard for me to imagine that any Creed could smell that synthetic.
I use it as a bathroom spray, but honestly, I think...

Re: Juliette Has A Gun - Not A Perfume

My wife, whose nose may be better than mine, tried 7 of Juliette's samples.
She only liked 2....but those two she went crazy for: Citizen Queen and Not a Perfume.
The latter is simple but works...

Re: Recommend Me A Summer Frag

Have to agree with the Hippo on Gucci Guilty.
The only Gucci I can tolerate is Forever Now....and it's surprisingly good.
Cannot understand all the love for Dior Sport.
    It is very generic and...

    Another vote for Gendarme.
Gendarme Green would be my fav but any of them will do.
  10. Re: Forever Now by Gucci (Museo) - perfumer Lorenzo Villoresi

Something sounds wrong with your bottle.
One spray at the Gucci store at 11:30 AM is still obvious at 5:30 PM
Scent has grown on me. Would love to find a bargain bottle as long as it was on the...
  11. Re: Can Someone Validate the Longevity of Penhaligon's Juniper Sling?

Recently received samples of Sartorial, Endymion and Juniper Sling.
Put them all on (different parts of the body of course) about 10 PM.
All but the Sling were present at 7AM the next day. The...

    Re: Scented Candles

Tried a Rigaud candle recently after reading about it here.
Someone raved about it and the price was nice.
With pun in mind, it cannot hold a candle to Cire Trudon.
Not even in the same area code.
  16. Re: Now that the hype may have died down... Spicebomb?

I do not get the comparisons to Eau des Baux, but it is strikingly similar to HdP 1899.

    Re: Le Labo expiry dates

My 5 year old Rose 31 is as good now as the day I bought it.
Love the idea of buying their soon to expire stock at deep discount.
  18. Re: recommend a clean and fresh niche fragrance...

    Agree on Creed Vetiver
Not so much on Imaginary Authors Mosaic. This one although unisex leans decidedly towards the feminine.

Re: Niche fragrance testing (samples) - pt2

About the only head scratcher I got here was Invasion Barbare's trouncing Lonestar Memories on Masculinity quotient.
Those would be reversed in my book.
  20. Re: Do you use any of your fragrances as room spray?

    Just Wow to the Spigo.
Now that's some expensive Air Freshener!
Mont Blanc Individuel is what I use. It's just on the right side of a scrubber.

    Hippo, you so jive.
    Varvatos is a good answer.
    Maharees is another.
  25. Re: The "best" fragrances have something "foul" or "nasty" about them?

    Agree with Trex57
Mazzolari Lui has a nice dollop of skank without any oud.
Dries down to a more civilized scent but challenges you to embrace the funk at first.

    Re: Another Date fragrance thread

Oud is one of those love/hate scents.
Given that Royal Oud is not much about the Oud, it seems safe and is my personal fav amongst your choices.
However, I have had women recoil at Dior oud...

    They are really different.
I like LIDGE and LIDG slightly better but get way more compliments with DHI.
If you want to be noticed, Dior will take you there with ease.

Re: Your Top 3 favorite Diptyque & Byredo ?

    Byredo 1996 is simply fabulous.
It's Leather, Amber and a touch of Vanilla with very little sweetness.
Well made and a quiet attention getter in all the right ways.

    Re: Fresh Citrus/Vanilla

I'd be careful with Mona di Oro's Lux. Great Lemon burst at beginning but settles into a warm deep Amber scent after a few hours.
Never smelled it on a guy but it's fabulous on a pretty girl.
