Serge Lutens Chergui full bottle 1.7oz. $61
Tawaf, and Bruno Acampora's Jasmin oil are both outstanding. Both feature indolic takes on jasmine, and the Acampora pairs it with a terrific ylang-ylang.
ELDO's Jasmine et Cigarette pairs the...
My bottle of Grev arrived, and I took for a test run yesterday, a sunny Saturday. Notes below
Grev presents mint, clove, sandalwood, green leaf, suede, and a soapy touch in a rather low key...
Eau Sauvage Parfum (but adore the EdT/EdC)
Fleur du Male
Suggest you try AdV Iris Nazarena, for a creamy, gourmandish take on the note. Delicious treatment of iris!
deleting swapped, adding
Atelier Cologne Cedrat Enivrant 5mL in 7.5 travel spray
Profumum Roma Tagete 5mL
Profumum Orangea 5mL
And, not to monopolize the thread, but I am appreciating the price reduction reflected on Grev (and Rume). $120 includes shipping.
There was some blowback when SH upped the ante to $160 a few...
Thank you. As you were posting, I was ordering. No way I was going to miss a chance to finally get Grev! And now, the wait....
I asked about the concentration because I really like the way the...
The first iteration of Grev--which I missed--was an EdP if I recall. And there wasn't a marble bottle extrait version, was there? (I've been looking for Grev, without luck, for a couple of years). Is...
Profumo/Dominique Dubrana, Josh Lobb or Vero Kern
New Additions 8/9/15
Frederic Malle Cologne Indelebile 5mL
PG Entre Ciel et Mer 5mL
Excellent! (tents fingers)
Its a pretty solid line. My preferred are Patch Imperial, Granville, Cuir Cannage and Oud Ispahan
Thank you for your suggestions. I had thought maybe Jicky, but tried it when I got home, and...nope. But perhaps Mouchoir de Mons.? Could be, will check that. Don't know the others mentioned,...
So a fellow sits down next to me on the train, wearing a great fragrance. Naturally, I did not ask. People pretty well mind their own business on the commuter trains. But I thought you all might be...
My most worn in July was Lush Dirty, which for whatever reason is not in the Directory, despite my many attempts to add it!
No sign of Grev on the Slumberhouse web site. Anyone know a release date, or approximate?
Thirty three is excellent. Looking for to the second release from Ex Idolo
yeah, its terrific
And...Grev goes to the top of my list!
Antico Caruso is very nice indeed. Also Sartorial.
Only two bottles lately, both summer scents:
R de Revillon
O de Lancome
People come to BN all the time looking for recs. Some read the responses and move on; others stick around. Thats how I started. I'll bet most regular BNers started that way. So when I see new...
There are 3 I rely upon heavily for my sandalwood needs. Tam Dao EdP and La Via del Profumo have already been mentioned, and righty so. Excellent. I wear them both year round, office, home, you...
the first Tauerville I want to purchase. Can't wait.
If Carillon is on the block, its time to buy!
I regret that I have never even tried Zeta.
They have a great source for bergamot.
Wow, someone sent me a sample of Cologne a la Russe 2-3 years ago. I had no idea what it was. Will dig it out and try it! But are they indeed EdPs?
Wow these sound great! Must try!
lawyer, commercial and real estate litigation.
TDH and Grey Vet definitely work great for the office.
So do Eau Sauvage, Bois d'Orage, Dzongkha, 28 La Pausa, Tam Dao EdP, Zagorsk, Lampblack and Cuiron.
ditto. If another bottle opens, I'm in.
I'll jump in if you split it
Well, if people with trained noses (BNers) can only rarely identify scents being worn by others, then there isn't much point in worrying about whether a scent you like Projects adequately, is there?...
Love the almond notes in 1725.
My favorite of 2015 so far is Slumberhouse Kiste. $160 for a bottle
....but there are many to try by Unum, Roubini, the new Neela Vermiere, the new AdV, a handful of new O'rius and probably many...
Its kind of Self Serve on adding fragrances to the Directory.
Directory contribution link. Still worked as of a couple weeks ago.
I'll bet that Zegna Oud is pretty good, as the rest of the line is well liked.
Try Black Oud by LM Perfumes, that ought to get you some complements.
Has the previously mentioned iris scent been released?
What are the notes of Ihram and of Gringo?
I enjoy Moon Dust, in part because it is unique as you say.
Odeur 53 might be worth a try, although more metallic than rock like.
On my list to try is Bruno Fazzolari's wet plaster scent, Monserat....
Creed Windsor. I was surprised, actually, to like it. Now looking for decant.
1. Jardin d'Amalfi
2. VI Water
3. Mill. Imperial
For some reason I can't remember, I preferred the current EdP version. Its very good.
Kiel's Original Musk is another nice musk scent and very fairly priced.
Howdy, I submitted a review of San Francisco Rose April Aromatics last year, Oct or Nov. It has never appeared. ?
My favorites from this house, which are anchors for my wardrobe:
Une Fleur de Cassie
Geranium Pour Monsieur
Dans Tes Bras
Le Parfum de Therese
Also very worthwhile
All are terrific. Start with Onda VdE and Kiki VdE
Think it might be a tea accord?
Gah! And Aftelier Perfumes.
For all natural, and some of the finest scents available, check out La Via del Profumo / AbdesAttar Salaam.
April Aromatics are also very well done.
The Directory is sporting a new appearance tonight! Looks good. Are these changes permanent?
Congrats Hednic! Thanks for the time you spend over on Just Getting Started.
The EDC and EDP are both very worthwhile, albeit rather similar to one another.
agree, Stamatis does customer service right!
Also love the folks at Osswalds--right across the street from the Soho Grand Hotel.
I'm not the biggest fan of MAAI, either, finding the first two hours of that scent rather shrill. Like FTY, it gets better after an hour or two.
Ferme Tes Yeux presents in 3 distinct phases.
Right out of the gate, there is animalic, barnyard skank. And some leather and green leafy notes. Horseflop and hay, but mostly horseflop. The...
heads up, foxbins, samples on the way....
Cacio, thanks for making it possible for me to try 4 very interesting florals this Spring. I'll post comments on the other 2 here in the next day or so.
Thanks for all of your hard work on the splits, Rich.
Sampling today what I believe (by process of elimination) to be Jardenia. The label is smeared beyond recognition; fortunately, the other 3 labels are still legible.
Agree this is the longest lasting of the nerolis I've tried. I would add, though, that it smells to me more like straight up orange blossom than neroli. Thats not a knock, as I love ob too.
Based on Johnny's review, I will have to try Liquo.
It was a beautiful Spring day yesterday, with daffodils, magnolias and cherry trees in full bloom. So I tried the full on floral, first.
JAR Bolt of Lightning
Immediately I get green, cucumber...
dab it is then
Cacio, are you recommending dabbing these perfumes, or spraying?
thank you for making this pass possible
pm'd you with address
Most vanillas are too sweet for me. But not 'Don Corleone' by Profumo. Its terrific!
wow, sound interesting. Samples available in US?
just the kind of feedback I was looking for. thank you!
I tested both formats in a store today. My impression was that they are very close, no significant difference to an up close nose, with the EdT projecting more than the oil. But that was based on a...
Malle Une Fleur de Cassie
Malle Bois d'Orage
Guerlain Sous le Vent
Serge De Profundis
Chanel 28 La Pausa
also, ELDO Jasmin et Cigarette
and what are the other two?
Great reviews by Colin Maillard! Any of the online retailers carrying this line?
thank you for making this happen, cacio.
Jasmin oil is excellent
Ambre Russe, Azemour and Cuir Ottoman are terrific. And so are Musc Tonkin (I prefer the 2014 EdP to the extrait) and Eau de Gloire.
hopefully FIF or Essenza will pick this one up! would love to try it
I have to try the new one, Smugglers Soul. I'm a fan of the Dirty body spray!
I don't spray the SH scents. Too big. I just dab a bit on the nape of the neck. Less than a full spray. Creates a nice close Slumberhouse bubble that lasts all day.
Thought he already dood this?
Try Hiram Green's Moon Bloom. A knockout tuberose, all natural.
Roucel's 'Best Of' List is rather short, but, everything in this thread, including the unheralded R de Revillon, is terrific!
I can't add anything to the great reviews of Kiste that have appeared so far. Rather, this is more in the nature of "Fan Mail from some Flounder," because I am loving Kiste. The tea and peach notes...
Hmmmm, the Notes de Peau sounds interesting! Don't know this one at all.
Oh, lucky me, there was a sample in my mailbox today! :dankk2:Thank you Josh, cannot wait to give Kiste a try tonight and again this weekend.
So are we pronouncing it Kiste like Piste, or like Pissed?
Oriza L LeGrand Chypre Mousse
guerlain Vol de Nuit, Parfum
Rats! nothing in the mail box!
I'd be interested in vol de nuit and Jicky in Parfum concentration.
I missed E d'E, and so cannot wait to try this new one!
Has to be something you can't get in the States. I'd probably go to the Hotel Costes and pick up a bottle of Iunx L'arbre. Or to Guerlain and pick up a bottle of Chamade PH
Love incense, the drier the bette, but for cold winter days. In spring, I'm needing greenery and florals.
just remembered a favorite incense that is wrapped in greenery and earth and is perfect...
