Re: I want an absolute gothic fragrance !

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Black Tourmaline by Olivier Durbano. Dark, peppery incense and vetiver.

Re: Barneys - tragically wasted resources

    They don't give you samples?

Barneys Boston always gives me tons of samples...and if they don't have a sample from the house itself, they're always happy to spray some of the tester into a vial...
  4. Re: Information on Knize Fragrances (Including Knize Forest!!!)

To be honest, sometimes I think they send someone over there with a few suitcases and have them load up with fragrances to be brought back to Cambridge.

They probably don't...but when I walk into...

Noir Epices...by far the most complex, intriguing, and hard-to-pin-down fragrance in the Malle line.

  10. Re: ... Your one and only signature Vetiver ...

Until recently, I would have said Givenchy Vetyver.

But now, I'd say Chanel Sycomore. No doubt. Rich, smoky, and full-bodied.
  11. Re: Vero Profumo - worth smelling? Worth the prices?

These are among the most beautiful fragrances I've ever smelled. They're worth every penny.

    Re: Time for Samsara

I too hate the topnotes of Samsara. Very crisp and 'popping' aldehydes. It's ALL about the drydown with this one. Very rich sandalwood. I've been apprehensive about wearing it in public though,...
  26. Re: Which scent gets you NO female compliments?

Pretty much nothing I wear gets compliments. Yet if I wear Acqua di Gio or RL Romance or some other big yawn of a fragrance, I'll get a compliment. Go figure.
  27. Re: FAT ELECTRICIAN - Semi-Modern Vetiver from ELDO

Re: Le Male is a masterpiece?

Commercially? Yes, absolutely. Gaultier made millions. In Europe, it seems like every guy under the age of 35 owns this...despite the nude male torso bottle design.

As a work of art? Not really....

    Re: TODAY I BOUGHT>>> May 2009

A "classics" day for me today...

    Mitsouko EDP
    Apres l'Ondee EDT
    Vol de Nuit EDT
    L'Heure Bleue EDP
    Bois des Iles EDT

And also Encens Flamboyant and Noir Patchouli.
  36. Re: Etat Libre d’Orange range now available at Luckyscent..

    This is very exciting!!!

I no longer have to go down to Henri Bendel in New York to get my ELDO fix!

I like Rien, Eloge du Traire, and Antiheros best. Tom of Finland is eminently wearable.

Re: Is Amouage worth the money?

I don't think any of their fragrances are worth $300.

If you're ever in the UAE, Oman, Qatar, etc. you can get a bottle for close to $200. Then I'd say it's borderline worth it.
