Re: The (Almost) Identical Fragrances Thread

    J. Del Pozo Esencia De Duende (available at Perfumania) = Bvlgari Pour Homme

Marlen/Scentuer mentioned this a while back, and he's right. The notes don't match, but there ya go.

Um...how can you see her eyes?
  3. Re: How do you categorize the fragrances in your collection?

I do exactly the same thing Merlino does. I don't have a substantial sized wardrobe, but I have my bases covered. :)

Re: Chocolate Scent Without the Burn

Yes, get them to make spray samples of both for you. And since you'll be at Sephora, ask them to show you Cannabis Santal by Fresh (it's not by the colognes).

    Re: Quorum: *cough* *wheez* YUK!

I got Quorum in the mid 80's and used it for almost 20 years. Now it seems dated and I won't wear it anymore, but it still has its original appeal.

Re: Chocolate Scent Without the Burn

You can group Rochas Man and Carlos Santana with Hanai Mori. I don't get anything chocolate/coffee with L'Instant.

Re: Winter Vs. Summer. Fresh Vs. Warm

I've always considered wet season (spring/summer) versus dry season frags a "I'll know it when I smell it" thing. I'd like to see a definitive explanation anyway.
  8. Re: What if your new girlfriend wanted you to wear some real crap?!

If she likes a certain crap cologne, chances are it was used by someone previously close to her. How could she have her mind made up already otherwise?

As we're in the same part of the state, miss Dulci, it must be in the water. :)

    Re: Rochas Man

I agree with the above replies. It's definitely for casual wear, but I prefer using it night during fall/winter months. (The oft compared Hanae Mori works better for daytime use, IMO.)

  12. Re: What ONE Scent Would You Most Like to Have Smelled?

Havana, although it's on my short list for my next Perfumed Court buy.
  13. Re: Cologne that made you think of the Middle East or India?

L'Artisan Dzing and Tea4Two, because they smell like smoldering houses.
  14. Re: List of 2008 fragrance releases - which ones are you excited about?

The Mugler, the Prada, and the Rochas.

How can Bvlgari Aqua get any more marine??? Or do I not know what marine is?
  15. Re: Celebrity fragrances...do you wear them...would you?

It would be fun for all the anti-celebrity fragrance people here (myself included) to take a blind test. The test would consist of participants smelling a mix of celebrity and non-celebrity scents...

  18. Anywhere in Oz to buy Maurer & Wirtz Tosca?

Have a friend there who gets it direct from Germany. Any local sources there? :dankk2:
  19. Re: I need fragrance ideas..going shopping soon :)

    If you're going to Sephora:

    Eau des Merveilles by Hermes
Valentino V (white bottle, not the red bottle)
Any or all of the Bvlgaris and Cartiers

Make sure they make you samples of what you...

Any stores in the Sydney area that carry Esencia De Duende by J. Del Pozo? I'm trying to get a friend down there to try it. Thanks.

    Re: Novice needs suggestions

Local sources: If there's a Sephora store where you live, you can get a spray sample made there. The high-end dept stores (Saks, Nordstroms) are your next alternative.

Re: pi by givenchy:like it ?

A lot of women seem to like it on a guy, but both my wife and I think it has a dominant 'playdoh' note. I get the same note from Dior Hypnotic Poison and Valentino V Absolute.

    Re: Prada Ambre for Men

I agree. This one's just horrible. Like some old Designer Impostor version of White Diamonds in the clearance aisle at Walmart. I refuse to believe this was intended for men. bigtime.
  27. Re: what other fragrances would fit in with these??

I second Hanae Mori It's been well documented on here as similar to Rochas Man. I'd also add Cannabis Santal by Fresh, Bond No. 9 New Haarlem, and just to be different, Guess Gold for Women....

Bath soap's affect on a frag?

Do bath soaps and fragrances clash? I use one of the Dial soaps, which has a slight but noticeable scent. Is there a rule of thumb on this? Thanks.

    Re: Havana | Quorum

Quorum was my near-exclusive scent from 1986-2000. I had bottles of Kourus (wife's favorite) and Tsar, but I always want back to the Q. All that seems so long ago now.

If I was privy to a sample...

    Re: Rochas Man

I use it only in the evenings and prefer it for fall/winter at that. It's too strong on me to wear at work. I like Hanae Mori for daytime wear. It's very similar to Rochas.

    Guess Gold

Any of you guys try this, by chance? I think it's similar to Fresh Cannabis Santal. Doesn't seem very feminine at all.
